Kaminari's Thirty Day Free-Trial

Summary:

What begins from a rather standard confession from Kaminari to class 2-A new arrival Shinsou, now has somehow turned to Kaminari having to confess his feelings for Shinsou at least once a day for an entire month. Such a thing can certainly have it's up and downs.

Yes this is inspired by Rascal does not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.

Day (0)

It all started on May 31st, a rather normal sunny day at UA High School. Well normal for most, the person being excluded from the narrative being Denki Kaminari. Today was the day he had concluded after much prompting from his friends’ encouragement, hell even Bakugou’s ‘I’m sick and tired of seeing your pining face,’ was groundbreaking enough to push him forward. What was today? Well today was the day Denki Kaminari aka Charge Bolt aka Self Proclaimed Prettiest Boy after Todoroki will confess his feelings to Shinsou. Kaminari had originally thought the Class A vs Class B situation was a passing fluke but when Shinsou transferred into their class the next year, all those feelings were still very much there. In fact since the month and a half they’ve started school again his feelings have probably tripled. The bell rang ending the period before the next teacher stepped in.

“Here’s your chance, do it right now,” Mina whisper yelled.

“Really?”

“Yeah, before Mr. Ishiyama comes in,” Mina added. Kaminari nodded before feeling a lump in his throat.

“Alright,” He said standing up and while he was walking over there a repetition of I can do this became a mantra in his head. “Hey Shinsou,” he said hoping to sound completely nonchalant.

Shinsou just looked at him tiredly and Kaminari thought wow does he rock that look. After the prolonged silence Kaminari figured that was an invitation to keep going.

“Can I talk to you after school?” Kaminari asked. Something behind Kaminari momentarily caught Shinsou’s attention before looking back at him. Where instead of tiredness, he looked at him in distrust.

“Is this some sort of stupid prank you and your friends are having?” Shinsou asked, giving another glance to whatever was behind Kaminari.

“Prank?” Kaminari asked before finally turning around to see what Shinsou kept looking at.

There he saw all of his friends quite obviously staring at them, and Kaminari understood where Shinsou could get that idea. He held back a groan thinking about how despite all their previous support they’re the ones currently ruining this for him. He then turned around to face Shinsou again.

“No way dude, just ignore them, they’re weird. I just really have to ask you something,” Kaminari pleaded. Shinsou stared into his eyes and it took all of Kaminari’s nerve to not look away from being unable to handle Shinsou’s gaze before Shinsou’s shoulders suddenly relax.

“Alright,” Shinsou finally said.

“REALLY?!” Kaminari asked in disbelief, totally believing he was a goner there for a second.

“Yep. Oh but I have training with Mr. Aizawa after class. So I probably can’t see you till after 4:30,” he explained.

“COOL!” Kaminari said before coughing to regain some composure. “I mean great, that’s fine, see you later,” he said before walking back to his seat.

“Kaminari!” Kaminari heard Shinsou yell over the class chatter and Kaminari officially decided right then and there that was definitely in his top ten favorite sounds.

“Yeah?” Kaminari asked turning around.

“You never told me where to meet you,” Shinsou explained.

“Oh right! Sorry about that dude,” Kaminari apologized. He didn’t think he’d get this far so he hadn’t planned out the exact where. So he just spitballed the first place he thought of. “Uh the front of the school under the bridge thing,” Kaminari answered which probably wasn’t helping his current try and sound less shady to Shinsou movement.

“Okay.”

“Okay dude, see you later for real this time,” he said, giving him a finger gun which he almost instantly regretted wondering if that looked lame.

“How’d it go?” Mina asked not even letting him sit all the way down yet.

“He agreed to meet me later, but have you guys ever heard of the definition of the world subtle? You almost ruined this for me.”

“Nope. Can you use it in a sentence dude?” Kirishima joked.

“Here one goes. This is the story about how I subtly put -,”

“Alright class let’s get started,” Mr.Ishiyama said interrupting whatever remark Kaminari had for his dear old friends.

The time has come, well actually after checking his phone repeatedly Kaminari’s about five minutes early. This was preoccupying every thought in his head back at the dorms and he just simply couldn’t handle being up in his room anymore. So feeling the need to do . . . anything, here he is arriving early to his confession.

Since he had time, he thought up scenarios of how should do it.

‘Yeah I have a crush on you, you know how it is’ Kaminari thought imagining he sounded super cool. Maybe he could wink, but then he wondered if would that make it tacky.

He shook his head thinking no that’s not going to work. Maybe he should try something romantic that’ll totally sweep Shinsou off his feet. Something like maybe he could put Shinsou’s hand on his chest to feel his heartbeat.

Shinsou would then notice how fast it’s beating and then Kaminari could say, ‘It’s that fast because of you, because I wholeheartedly like you, I’ve liked other people before but it’s never felt like this, and -’

“Looking for someone,” A voice said at shell of his ear. Kaminari jumped forward in surprise and turned seeing that the voice came from Shinsou.

“Shinsou?”

“Sorry for running a little late, Mr. Aizawa was really serious about training today,” Shinsou explained.

“It’s fine.”

“You looked lost in thought earlier, something on your mind?”

“No,” Kaminari probably answered too fast.

“So what was it you wanted to ask me?” Shinsou asked. Kaminari couldn’t help but notice the way the sun was shining on Shinsou, seemingly setting him in a warm glow that couldn’t help but make Kaminari’s heart squeeze.

“Oh right,” Kaminari said and all the scenarios he thought up before this were wiped from his memory and now he was scrambling. “I -,” like you. I LIKE YOU. I like you so much. The words are right there so why can’t he spit it out of his mouth. “I . . . was wondering if you’ve been getting any of the math we learned today?” Kaminari ended up asking and then wanting to majorly kick himself.

“Most of it. Do you want me to tutor you?”

Tutor him? He then realized what an avenue that would be for them to hang out and he did honestly need the help. “I mean if it’s not too much trouble.”

“I mean it kind of is,” Shinsou answered bluntly. “But maybe we could meet on Saturdays. I usually do my homework around that time anyway, and then I could help you out if you don’t get something,” Shinsou added leaving Kaminari with mixed signals of whether Shinsou was cool with it or not.

“Okay cool.”

“That’s all you wanted to ask me?” Shinsou asked with an unimpressed look and raising an eyebrow, all reminding me him of younger Mr. Aizawa.

No he thought but “Yep!” he said. “So see you tomorrow dude,” he added.

Kaminari immediately started walking away, mentally chastising himself for chickening out. Then as if something suddenly snapped inside of him, he decided that he wasn’t going to do down so easily. So with a second wave of confidence he turned around and walked back over to where Shinsou was still standing.

“Alright here’s the thing, I like you dude,” Kaminari said sounding way more aggressive than originally intended. “Uh sorry, I mean I like you, and not in a friend way. Well actually in a friend way too, but what I’m trying to say is that I like like you.”

Shinsou looked at him in complete shock, a rare instance of his stoic demeanor slipping away. Then there was Kaminari staring back at him, probably looking like a flushed mess.

“You don’t have to say anything back, I just wanted you to know,” Kaminari explained. Shinsou took a thoughtful look as if he was really trying to come up with saying the right thing next. Then Kaminari started to internally panic, thinking that Shinsou was probably coming up with a way to turn him down nicely.

“You like me?”

Kaminari simply nodded.

“Kaminari I-, listen it’s just I haven’t always had the best experience when it comes to this sort of thing with people, or just people in general so-,” Shinsou started to say, but couldn’t seem to find the words to continue, of which Kaminari was happy to offer.

“You need time? I’ll give you all the time you need. Or maybe you’ll need me to tell you again, I’ll tell you as many times as you want,” Kaminari said and Shinsou interest seemed to peak at the last bit of Kaminari’s sentence.

“As many times as I want?” Shinsou asked.

“Yeah,” Kaminari said sounding unsure.

“How about thirty times?” Shinsou asked with a mischievous look in his eye, which Kaminari had found quite endearing.

“Huh?”

“I want you to tell me thirty times.”

“Like right now?” Kaminari asked more than willing to do it and Shinsou shook his head with a small smile growing on his face.

“No. June starts tomorrow and I want you to tell me you like me once a day throughout the whole month, and then when it ends I’ll get back to you on how I feel about you,” he explained with a spark still in his eyes.

“Promise?”

“Promise,” Shinsou said with a nod.

“Wait what about on days I don’t see you, can I just text it to you?”

“No.”

“No?”

“Leave a voicemail,”

“Voicemail? Who leaves voicemails nowadays?”

Shinsou shrugged before saying, “Call me old fashioned.”

“Any other rules you want to add?”

“Oh yeah and no big displays in front of a crowd. Not a fan of that type of PDA.”

Kaminari thought about it. A whole month of him telling Shinsou that he has a crush on him. Did Shinsou have no idea how hard it was just to tell him at all to begin with? It was definitely a challenge, but then he thought if he were really to become a hero he would be faced with challenges everyday and he’s so going to become a hero and for what it’s worth, he didn’t get into UA off of nothing.

Shinsou looked at him patiently for an answer.

“Okay, I’ll do it,” Kaminari said with Shinsou being almost unnoticeably surprised by the answer. “I’m going to confess to you so hard dude, you probably won’t even make it to the end of the month to tell me how you really feel, you’ll be so swept off you feet,” Kaminari said excitedly, and despite the small bit of arrogance the sincerity of Kaminari’s passion couldn’t help but bring a full smile to Shinsou’s face.

“I guess we’ll have to wait and see on that one,” Shinsou said sounding a tiny bit amused. “See you tomorrow Kaminari,” Shinsou said falling back into his cool and mysterious persona and giving him a two fingered wave before walking back to the dorms.

The phrase hate to see you leave but love watching you go popped into his head before he caught himself. At first the idea sounded daunting but now he was looking forward to it, Shinsou better watch out if he thinks Kaminari wasn’t going to take this seriously.

Day (1)

The next morning when Kaminari walked over to the communal bathroom, he ran into Kirishima in there brushing his teeth.

“Kaminari!” Kirishima said with a mouth full of toothpaste.

“Hey,” he said walking to the sink next to Kirishima.

“You never texted me back, how’d it go?” He asked saying it more quietly so no one else around except Kaminari could hear it.

“Good.”

“Good?” Kirishima said happily before quickly quickly gulping water to rinse his mouth out.

“Mhmm.”

“So are you two a thing?” Kirishima asked, making Kaminari realize he had no idea of what to call the thing between him and Shinsou.

“No,” Kaminari answered, because he guesses they’re technically not. Kirishima stared at him in confusion through the mirror.

“Wait so it went well and yet you two aren’t a thing, so what’s going on between you two exactly?”

“I mean it’s like a thirty day free trial thing,” Kaminari said regretting the words as soon as they left his mouth.

“Thirty day free trial thing?” Kirishima asked feeling somehow more confused than before.

“No. I mean yes, but no. I mean . . .  it’s complicated,” Kaminari said finally landing on an answer he liked.

“Complicated?” Kirishima asked still confused but remarkably less so now that there was something more tangible to grasp onto. Ojiro then walked into the bathroom and Kaminari liked the guy and he seemed like a good dude, but he didn’t want to face the possibility of his personal business getting out there into the whole school.

“I’ll explain it to you guys later,” Kaminari explained.

Kirishima looked at him skeptically before saying “Alright.”

Despite sharing the same class now, it was kind of difficult to catch Shinsou alone. Kind of weird too considering Shinsou was more of the loner type, but 2-A has a way of making sure no one gets left out. Class had let out for the day and when he caught Shinsou walking off from the crowd, probably to see Mr. Aizawa, Kaminari had witnessed what was his best opening all day.

“Hey guys, I’ll catch up with you later,” Kaminari said really quickly to Kirishima, Mina, Sero and Bakugou before making sure to catch up with Shinsou. Luckily unless it was during a sports exercise Shinsou wasn’t exactly hasty and his walk could be described as more of a stroll, making it rather easier to catch up to him. “Shinsou wait up!” He called out.

Shinsou turned around looking neither impressed on unimpressed to see him.

“Hey,” Kaminari said.

“Hey. You know how Mr. Aizawa is so I really can’t be late,” Shinsou explained.

“Then I’ll just walk with you there then,” Kaminari offered.

Shinsou thought about it momentarily before saying, “It’s your call,” and continuing to walk down the hall where Kaminari quickly joined in step.

“How’s training with Mr. Aizawa like?” Kaminari asked and Shinsou let out a short chuckle.

“He’s a total hard ass,” Shinsou replied and yeah Kaminari could totally see that. “But in a good way,” Shinsou then added, sounding somewhat fond, which couldn’t help but make Kaminari smile.

“I bet.”

“What about you?”

“Huh?”

“You did a short summer internship with Snipe right?” Shinsou asked. Kaminari looked at Shinsou in surprise about how Shinsou knew about that. “I overheard you talking about it on the first day of class,” he added seeming to read Kaminari’s reaction.

“Oh,” Kaminari said but while that was cleared up, he was still slightly surprised Shinsou paid him any attention at all during their first couple weeks of class, it wasn’t a bad surprised by any means. “Yeah he really helped get my aiming skills up for the pointers I use.”

“Cool,” Shinsou replied simply. Kaminari then noticed Mr. Aizawa’s office come up in the distance, so he decided he had to make it snappy.

“Shinsou?”

“Yeah?”

“Just letting you know I still really like you,” Kaminari said and while it came out much easier than yesterday, the butterflies in his stomach hadn’t dissipated any. Shinsou’s movements halted and he looked over at Kaminari fully.

“You remembered?”

“Of course I didm dude,” Kaminari said. “I don’t take these sort of things lightly you know,” Kaminari said sincerely and Shinsou mustered up all his self control to not visibly react to such a statement.

“Is that right?”

“Yep.”

Shinsou looked at him with a hard to read expression and maybe Kaminari was reading into something that wasn’t there, but he liked to think he saw a flicker of amusement in there. Shinsou adjusted his backpack strap before saying, “I really need to go now.”

“Oh okay,” Kaminari said. Shinsou’s reply wasn’t a good or bad sign. So could he take that as a win? He really would like to.

“See you tomorrow Kaminari,” Shinsou said with a smirk and a hint of warmth to his voice before walking off into Mr. Aizawa’s office.

Yep that was a total win in Kaminari’s books and if he smiled to himself all the way to meet back up with his friends, who could blame him.

Day (3)

Yesterday wasn’t all to unsimilar to the first day. As in Shinsou still managed to be elusive, so Kaminari kind of had to throw it out that he still liked him when he got the small window of oppurtunity.

Shinsou lives on the floor above Kaminari’s, so after making trek up there he stood out by the front door needing a moment before he built up the courage to knock. He’s totally got this, how many ways could anyone mess this up. Kaminari did a two knock rhythm on the door, and after a couple of beats of no response he wondered was he not loud enough, maybe Shinsou was listening to music. Kaminari brought up hand again to knock when the door swung open to where he saw Shinsou in PJ’s and somehow his hair looking even more bedheadish than normal which seemed humanly impossible.

“What are you doing here?” Shinsou asked groggily.

“Well, remember you told me to meet you here to do homework.” Kaminari reminded.

It took a second for that sentence to make sense in Shinsou’s groggy state before he asked, “what time is it?”

“Four thirty.”

“Four thirty?” Shinsou repeated more for himself than for clarification.

“Did I wake you up dude? I’m sorry. Look you don’t have to help me out, you can -,”

“No.”

“Wha-?”

“I told you I was going to help you right? So that’s exactly what I plan to do,” Shinsou said very seriously. “Besides it’s a good thing. I should have been up by 4:30 anyways,” he added while relaxing a bit. “Come on in, sorry if it’s a bit messy,” Shinsou said.

If this is messy by Shinsou’s standards, Kaminari's afraid to ask what he thinks of the current state of his own room at the moment. It was then that it hit Kaminari that he was in Shinsou’s room, that’s pretty monumental right? They’re in here together, alone . Honestly the fact that they’re only here to do math of all things and that Shinsou’s feelings towards Kaminari are still a big question mark really takes the wind out of it, but Kaminari likes to keep things positive.

“Give me a second to get my stuff, you can take a seat on the bed if you want,” Shinsou said breaking Kaminari out his thoughts.

“Okay,” Kaminari replied taking a quick glance and the room noticing the cat trinkets on Shinsou’s desk. Shinsou, a cat guy, noted, Kaminari thought to himself because this kind of info could be handy in the future. He then took his shoes off because his mother raised him well enough to know you don’t get on someone’s bed with shoe’s on, and then took a seat on Shinsou’s bed and sat back far enough so his back could rest against the wall.

“Sorry about having to do this on my bed. I would have brought up an extra chair for the desk if I’d woken up earlier,” Shinsou apologized.

“Hey don’t feel the need to apologize for having me on your bed, your bed is a personal top destination spot,” he said before realizing how that sounded. Surprisingly considering Kaminari’s usual flirtatious nature, he truly hadn’t meant it like that. Not that he wouldn’t love to be on Shinsou’s bed but they’re not close like that yet, and he didn’t want to freak Shinsou out.

Shinsou rolled his eyes. “You say that all the people you confess to?” He asked teasingly.

“No!” He said quickly. “No, I really didn’t mean it like that. I mean unless you want me to.”

The last comment made Shinsou chuckle a bit. “You know what I would actually want?”

“What?” Kaminari asked with absolutely no clue where Shinsou was taking this.

“For us to get this homework over with,” he said.

“Oh right,” Kaminari said and Shinsou smirked. Kaminari had to admit that was a pretty good misdirect almost Aizawa level.

Shinsou then joined him on the bed and they got started on their homework. All things considered, things were going pretty well, especially considering that because of how close they were sitting together Kaminari couldn’t help but peak a glance at Shinsou every once in awhile or get distracted when their arms accidentally touched. Kaminari would ask for help every once in a while and then Shinsou would go over it explaining the steps he did on his homework and it was helpful enough.

Things were going pretty smoothing until he hit question seventeen of which he has erased and restarted about five times.

“You need help?” Shinsou asked not looking up from his own homework, but he heard the intense erasing so he had a solid idea of what was going on.

“Yeah, have you finished number seventeen yet?”

“Yeah I did. Just give me a second,” Shinsou went back to the previous page of his notebook and compared his own work to his. “Oh I see what you're messing,” he said pointing to Kaminarii’s page with his led pencil. “When you move this over to the other side you need to flip the fraction,” Shinsou explained.

“And why do we need to do that?”

Shinsou gave an explanation all of which had words Kaminari recognized but seemingly made no sense to him when strung together like that.

“Can you say that again but slower?” Kaminari asked and Shinsou complied which helped a little bit. “Sorry okay last time I promise, but one more time but like really really slow.”

Shinsou explained it again taking more time and going over everything a bit more carefully, and then it clicked in Kaminari’s head.

“Oh yeah, we did go over this!” Kaminari said finally having all the pieces connect in his head. “Thanks man, sorry for being a complete idiot and having you go over it again and again.”

“You’re not an idiot,” Shinsou said looking back at his own notebook and catching Kaminari off guard. Kaminari probably wouldn’t have even remembered he said the idiot thing because it as an offhanded comment. “Trust me I’ve met my fair share of idiots and an idiot you are not, everyone needs a little bit more help sometimes,” Shinsou added still not meeting Kaminari’s gaze. What he would have seen if he did, was Kaminari looking at him awestruck.

Kaminari can’t say he’s ever been bullied or anything like that, but outside of his parents, close friends, or a teacher or two of his, hardly anyone has ever gone out of there way to encourage him like that about something unrelated to his quirk. “Thanks,” Kaminari said quietly.

“You don’t need to thank me for saying something like that.”

“I know, I just wanted to,” Kaminari replied and Shinsou finally tore his eyes off his own page to look at him. A brief moment was shared before Shinsou went to scratch the back of his nick.

“Come on, we’re almost done,” Shinsou said diverting things back to homework.

“Okay,” Kaminari said with a smile.

They went on to finish off the rest of their homework and Kaminari couldn’t help but notice it felt as if a real bond between the two had been cemented.

“Thanks for all your help dude,” Kaminari said by Shinsou’s door.

“It’s not really a big deal,” Shinsou said with a shrug.

“Alright, well later.”

“Later.”

Kaminari gasped as the door shut realizing he forgot something super important. So he immediately turned around and knocked on the door. Shinsou’s response to opening it much quicker than the first time.

“I like you,” he said quickly.

“Is that all you have to say?”

“Thought I’d forgotten hadn’t you?” Kaminari suggested with an aura of confidence surrounding him ,while Shinsou stared at him tiredly before rolling his eyes.

“‘Night Kaminari,” he said before shutting the door in his face.

Kaminari once again walked off with a smile on his face, wondering how he’s going to tell Shinsou tomorrow, and then realizing he doesn’t have Shinsou’s phone number so he walked right back over and knocked on Shinsou’s door for the third time that day. Shinsou opened the door looking rather annoyed.

“What is it?”

“Oh, I realized I don’t have your phone number and you did tell me to leave voicemails for you like an old man so,” Kaminari explained.

“I did say that didn’t I,” Shinsou said and Kaminari nodded. “Alright get your phone ready,” Shinsou said and Kaminari complied. After Shinsou read out his number to him and Kaminari totally didn’t save it with a purple heart emoji next to it.

“Thanks, alright I’m leaving for real th-,” he began to say before the door abruptly shut before him.

Kaminari really didn’t mean to end up at Shinsou’s door again for the fourth time today but when he made it to the stairs he realized he only had his socks on. So he cautiously knocked on the door and when it opened he saw Shinsou glaring daggers at him.

“I know, I know, I know, I just left my shoes,” Kaminari quickly explained. Shinsou was still glaring, but went in and grabbed Kaminari’s shoes and pushing them into his chest.

“Do not knock on my door for the rest of today, got it?”

“Got it. Wait but what if -,” he began to ask before he was cut off with a slam. Kaminari understood that reaction, but he couldn’t help but feel as if Shinsou may have been getting some weird sense of joy shutting the door in Kaminari’s face over and over again.

Day (4)

That day at lunch Kaminari was hanging out with his friends in the common room.

“Bakugou why does your phone have 78 notifications on your call button?” Kirishima asked while he was scrolling through Bakugou’s phone.

“Sorry I’m not unpopular like all you losers,” Bakugou said.

A debate broke out in the group over notification numbers on various social media apps to declare who’s the most popular. Kaminari was about to participate when he remembered his own phone thing he needed to do real quickly. He walked away from the group.

“Kaminari where you going?” Sero asked.

“I’ll be right back, I need to leave a voicemail,” He explained quickly.

“A voicemail?”

“Yeah for Shinsou,” he answered and the whole group looked as if he just grew an extra head. “I’ll explain later,” he said walking off into the corner.

Kaminari walked over to a secluded corner before making the call. He thought this wouldn’t be as nerve wrecking because he doesn’t have to look at Shinsou’s pretty face, but apparently the nerves still haven’t worn off yet. The phone rang all the way through and he heard an automated message telling him to leave one after the beep.

“Wow Shinsou. You make a big deal about being old fashioned with this voicemail stuff and yet you have an automated voicemail greeting. I’ll let it slide, but only because I like you so much. Anyways, see you in class tomorrow,” He said before letting out a big breath in release right after. He walked back over to see his friends in a seemingly very interesting conversation.

“What’s this thirty day free trial Kirishima’s talking about?” Bakugou asked, always getting straight to the point. Kaminari then glared at Kirishima.

“What? Those were your words,” Kirishima explained.

“I said complicated too, you couldn’t have gone with complicated instead?”

“Oh bro don’t worry I added the complicated bit in too” Kirishima said, but Kaminari hadn’t felt anymore at ease. Kaminari let out a groan.

“Alright I can explain,” Kaminari said as he sat back down. “As you all know on Wednesday I went to tell Shinsou how I feel. So I did and you know by my standards it went pretty well -,”

“But they’re not a thing,” Kirishima interrupted much to Kaminari’s annoyance.

“Right. AS I WAS SAYING, so it went pretty well and you know one thing led to another and now for the rest of June I have to confess to Shinsou once a day,” Kaminari said saying the last bit at lighting speed only his friends could seem to decipher.

“That is,” Bakugou started.

“The dumbest thing I’ve ever heard,””SO ROMANTIC!” Bakugou and Mina said talking over one another.

“Romantic?! How in the world is that romantic? Listen sparks, if tired eyes really liked you back he wouldn’t be wasting a good month blocking it from happening,” Bakugou explained.

“Don’t listen to him Kaminari. What you're doing shows dedication, people so want to date that. Also I mean how many people are like Bakugou, hell not even Bakugou shows how he really feels in easy to understand ways all the time,” Mina argued to him.

That broke into an argument between Mina and Bakugou over what does or doesn’t constitute as romance, while Kirishima tried his best to play mediator.

Kaminari couldn’t help but think that Bakugou did make a fair point, but then again so did Mina. With the seed of doubt growing inside him, he then noticed Sero also sitting down at the table quietly too.

“Sero, what do you think?” Kaminari asked.

“What I think?”

“Yeah, about the Shinsou thing.”

Sero looked down in consideration and started picking at his food with his fork. “I think you should go with what feels right,” Sero answered a slight strain in his voice, that went entirely unnoticed by Kaminari, who now was giving him an unimpressed look.

“That’s a Shinsou-level non answer dude,” Kaminari complained and Sero laughed at his friends whining.

Day (7)

“Hey Shinsou, you know what day it is today?” Kaminari asked as they walked over to Mr. Aizawa’s together again.

“Wednesday.”

“Yeah that, but also it’s a week since I told you I liked you, this is like our confession week anniversary,” Kaminari explained. Shinsou let out a small laugh at that concept, making Kaminari swell up with pride for getting Shinsou to laugh.

“Oh that’s what today is,” Shinsou said. “You get me a gift or something?” Shinsou jokingly asked.

“Yep.”

“You did?” Shinsou asked in disbelief.

“Totally,” Kaminari said before going out to stand in front of Shinsou. “And it’s that boy you totally zap up my world,”  Kaminari said with a wink and finger guns where his quick was lighting his index fingers and thumbs.

Shinsou stared at him for a long beat, before breaking into of the most heavenly noises Kaminari’s ever head. He’s heard Shinsou chuckle his fair share, but this was the first time he’s ever heard him genuinely laugh, it sounded lighter than his normal voice, as if he rarely used his voice for such a thing. Shinsou’s nice laugh and current cute scrunched up face took the pain out of any offence Kaminari could have felt, because Kaminari had actually put a lot of time preparing that confession. Also the pride he felt before seemed minuscule in comparison to the one he’s feeling right now, for being able to get Shinsou to truly laugh and it only made him want to do it again.

“You okay?”

“Yeah. I’m sorry Kaminari,” he said eagerly and wiping a tear from his eyes. “That was a good one,” he said breaking into a smaller laugh this time.

Mina was right, people really are complicated, out of all the confessions he’s given, the one where Shinsou laughed in his face was the most vocal positive response he’s gotten so far. Life and Shinsou certainly do have a weird sense of humor.

Shinsou abruptly stopped laughing before saying “Shit. I’m probably going to be super late,” Shinsou said to himself. “If I have to run extra laps today it’s your fault Kaminari,” Shinsou said jogging off past Kaminari to head over quickly to Mr. Aizawa’s office but Kaminari couldn’t help but notice the smile still on Shinsou’s face.

Day (11)

“I’m so excited for today dude, I feel like we haven’t hung out in forever,” Kaminari said entering Sero’s room.

“Right.”

“Let me just call Shinsou really quickly, and then it’s just you, me, and Mario Kart,” Kaminari said brightly. So brightly that Sero’s small ping of momentary disappointment went unnoticed. Kaminari called and it went to voicemail pretty quickly which made him wonder if Shinsou was actually using his phone right now.

“You’ve reached Hitoshi Shinsou’s phone and if you're hearing this message I’m obviously not here so leave a message after the beep. Also hey Kaminari,” Kaminari heard Shinsou say before said beep. Kaminari suddenly felt his face flush because this means Shinsou actually listened to his voicemail, that thought was so powerful he forgot he was supposed to be speaking.

“Oh yeah! Sorry dude. I totally dig the new voicemail greeting by the way, but don’t go getting jealous. I still like you way more. Anyways, see you tomorrow,” Kaminari said before hanging up the phone.

“You really like him, huh?” Sero asked making Kaminari blush. Kaminari’s told Shinsou he’s liked him eleven days in a row. He doesn’t know why a simple question like that is getting him all worked up.

“I mean . . . yeah. You know what’s funny? I mean yeah I liked Shinsou when I confessed, but now that I’ve actually gotten to know him, I’ve only managed to like him more than I did before,” Kaminari confessed.

“Oh no, that means you like him for his personality,” Sero teased.

“I know right! How gross,” Kaminari said with a laugh. “It takes Shinsou awhile to open up to people, but I think if you two got to know each other, you guys would totally be friends,” Kaminari commented.

“Is that what you think?” Sero asked.

“A hundred percent dude,” Kaminari answered.

“Ready to lose at Mario Kart?”

“Lose?! Not even in your wildest dreams Sero.”

Day (13)

Kaminari ended up in the common room along with Shinsou, Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, and Tsuyu to watch some movie they were talking about. How could he said not come when Shinsou personally invited him, well okay what actually happened was after Kaminari dished out his daily I like you Shinsou said in monotone, ‘I’m going to watch a movie with Midoriya and the guys later, you can come if want.’ Which in Kaminari’s book totally counts.

The movie wasn’t boring, it’s just Kaminari used his quirk a lot today so he was actually pretty exhausted. So exhausted he apparently fell asleep a quarter way through the movie. Completely unaware to five pairs of eyes looking at him knocked out on the couch after the movie ended.

“You think I should carry him back up stairs?” Midoriya offered.

“I think we should just let him rest, he seemed pretty tired today,” Shinsou answered. “You guys can go, I’ll just give him a blanket of mines.”

After everyone left and Shinsou grabbed a blanket from his room. When he made his way back and he couldn’t help but smirk at how Kaminari’s head was leaned all the way back in sleepful bliss. Shinsou knew that was probably uncomfortable so he adjusted Kaminari to where his whole body was laid out on the couch. After putting the blanket on him, he kneeled down in front of Kaminari.

“Gotta admit I’m kind of jealous, wish I could fall asleep that easily,” Shinsou said. “Hey Kaminari, you really asleep?” Shinsou asked being pretty confident Kaminari was, but better safe than sorry. “Alright here it goes,” he started. “You know I totally thought you’d have given up this telling me you like me everyday thing by now? Yeah, I was totally thinking that one day you’d wake up and realize that you didn’t actually like me like you thought you did. Then after you stopped telling me you like me, I would have put two and two together and not taken you stopping personally, and then we all would move on with our lives,” Shinsou confessed to Kaminari’s sleeping face. “But now I really hope you don’t stop telling me, because I really like you too,” Shinsou admitted, feeling his heart thumping in his chest.

Kaminari snuggled into the armrest startling Shinsou momentarily, in fear that Kaminari had actually heard all of that, but quickly relaxed after figuring out what just happened. He then laughed at his own overreaction.

“I’ve been making you do this everyday? How cruel of me,” Shinsou said, but not sounding to unpleased with himself. “I hope you give me a chance to make all this up to you in July.”

Shinsou admired Kaminari’s peaceful sleeping face, finding him rather cute when he’s asleep. He then gently brushed the hair out of Kaminari’s face.

“Goodnight Kaminari,” Shinsou said with a smile, all towards a Kaminari who’s need to sleep made him miss everything that was said.

Day (16)

“My biggest fear?” Kaminari asked repeating Shinsou’s question. “Spiders creep me out,” he said.

“Spiders aren’t actually that bad,” Shinsou argued.

“Of course you’d say that. What about you then?”

“Well if we’re going with animals, hamsters give me weird vibes,” Shinsou answered.

“Hamsters?! They’re literally one of the cutest creatures in the world,” Kaminari said and Shinsou shrugged.

“Weird vibes, don’t know what to tell you,”

“Weird vibes,” Kaminari grumbled to himself in disbelief.

Kaminari then leaned his head back on Shinsou’s wall and then wondered if would regret what he was about to say next.

“If we weren’t going with animal stuff, I guess I’d say being alone. You know, just one day I’d wake up and realize there’s no one out there in the entire world that actually gives a shit about me,” Kaminari said feeling his eyes water up because he hardly ever allowed himself to be this truly vulnerable.

Shinsou looked at Kaminari with a soft gaze, before lightly nudging him. “Well something tells me that’s never gonna happen Kaminari,” Shinsou said.

“You know you’re the first person I’ve told that to,” Kaminari admitted.

Shinsou looked at Kaminari thoughtfully for a moment. Kaminari was tempted to ask what internal fear Shinsou had, but didn’t want to force him into anything he didn’t want to share.

“Mine's is ending up being the guy everyone thought I was, that maybe they really were right about me all along,” Shinsou said.

“Well that something that told you is telling me that’s never gonna happen to you either,” Kaminari said trying to comfort him. “You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but what’re your parents quirks? I’m just curious.”

Shinsou half chuckled at that, sort of happy to leave such a touchy subject. “It’s fine. My mom’s like a pheromone empath, so she puts out pheromones that can alter people's moods. Then for my dad he actually was born quirkless, so that combination created me I guess,” Shinsou explained.

“Oh that’s really cool,” Kaminari commented.

They then sat there in silence, just letting the moment be.

“Shinsou?” Kaminari finally asked.

“Yeah,”

“I really like you, you know?” Kaminari said keeping it simple. Shinsou hadn’t brushed it off quickly this time and instead smiled in return.

They let the moment play itself out before Shinsou asked, “Zombies or Vampires?”

“Vampires dude. Zombies are so easy to out think.”

Day (17)

They were back in Shinsou’s room doing homework. Where this time Shinsou got up early enough in time to grab a chair from downstairs, so they could actually use his desk. Aside from being able to hang out with Shinsou, Kaminari was actually looking forward to this because he actually did a lot better on his tests last week. When he got down to number nine a genius idea popped up in his head.

“Hey you done with number nine yet?”

“Almost,” replied a completely unaware Shinsou.

“Okay, well when you are can you look over mine and see if I’m doing it right?”

“Yeah no problem,” Shinsou said continuing his work. That went on for a short while where then he said “Alright let me take a look.” Shinsou looked down at Kaminari’s notebook before he greeted with a ‘You know I still like LIKE you right ;)’. Shinsou looked up at Kaminari in disbelief, who looked mighty pleased with himself.

“Come on, even you have to admit that one was smooth,” Kaminari argued and Shinsou rolled his eyes.

“Whatever. Let’s hurry up and finish this homework,” he said quickly changing the topic.

Once they finished everything up they were at the door getting ready to say their goodbyes.

“Thanks for all the help again,” Kaminari said.

“It’s really no big deal.”

“If you say so dude. See you tomo-,” Kaminari said before he was pulled by the collar of his shirt and was met with Shinsou’s warm lips pressed against his, but unfortunately not for long before Shinsou pulled away.

“You were right. That one was actually smooth,” Shinsou told him before going back into his room.

Kaminari had heard those words, but seeing as Kaminari.exe has stopped running at the moment it was taking a while to process them.

Shinsou’s door swung open. “Good you’re still here. Just because I kissed you, don’t go thinking you still don’t have to tell me you like me tomorrow.”

“Yeah, whatever you want,” Kaminari said in a blissful haze.

“Goodnight,” he said before shutting the door again.

Kaminari brought two fingers up to his lips, that were still tingling from Shinsou’s lips. “He kissed me,” He whispered to himself with a wide grin growing on his face. He then walked back to his room, but rather than walking Kaminari would say it felt more like floating to him.

Day (19)

Despite from what it may look like from an outsider’s point of view Kaminari was actually an avid reader. So here he was in the school library picking out what to read next. He finally landed a book he liked, but of course it had to be on the very top shelf.

He’s a true hero hopeful just like everyone else in hero course, so if anyone can make this happen, he can. Kaminari got on the tips of his toes and grazed the book with his middle finger. That a good first attempt, as he went in for a second a hand grabbed the book he was aiming for.

“Oh thanks man, don’t know why they even bother making shelves that hi-” Kaminari said before turning around and seeing a familiar face. “Shinsou!” He said much to loudly. “Shinsou?” He whispered this time.

“This was the book you wanted right?”

“Yeah,” he said taking the book from Shinsou’s hand “What’re you doing here?”

“I came here to help Monoma out with something and then I saw you struggling over here.”

“Monoma? Doesn’t he hate class A?”

“Yeah he does, but he still likes me for some reason,” Shinsou explained.

Kaminari felt stupid for the ping of jealousy he felt from hearing Shinsou say that. Especially after knowing how stupid people could be about Shinsou and his quirk. So the more people who like Shinsou the merrier.

Shinsou tilted his head to the side and asked “Everything alright?” Despite his cool and mysterious persona Kaminari’s come to find out Shinsou can be rather adorable at times, similar to a cat in that way, maybe that’s why he was such a big fan.

“Yeah I’m fine,” Kaminari finally answered. “Are you library book?” Kaminari asked.

“Oh no.”

“I have to get in my I like yous somehow right?”

Shinsou sighed figuring Kaminari made a fair point. “Ok. No I am not Denki Kaminari, why would you ask me such a thing?” Shinsou said playing along in the most unenthused voice Kaminari has ever witnessed.

“Because I can’t stop checking you out,” Kaminari said. While expecting a classic Shinsou non reaction he got something rather different instead.

Shinsou was kissing him in the library, making two of his library fantasies come true today. Kaminari always knew Shinsou was a special one, and luckily Shinsou hadn’t pulled away so quickly this time giving Kaminari a chance to kiss him back.

If kissing is a thing they do now, then Kaminari was definitely in the camp of pro him and Shinsou kissing.

Shinsou pulled away first again, “Alright I really should go before Monoma rips me a new one for being gone so long,” Shinsou said.  “I don’t even want to imagine what he would say if he found out it was because of a cute guy from 2 - A,” Shinsou added. Probably out of some weird joy in seeing Kaminari’s frazzled face.

“Cute?”

“Later Kaminari,” He said with a smug grin before walking away.

Day (20)

“Thanks for walking me back,” Kaminari said as he and Sero approached the door. Kaminari overused his quirk and while training with his friends and Sero volunteered to hang back until Kaminari snapped out of it.

“Any time.”

“Totally counting on it,” Kaminari said warmly.

“Kaminari?”

“Yeah?”

“I like you,” Sero admitted.

“Aww Sero, are you feeling sappy today? You’re my best friend, you know I love you dude,” Kaminari said putting a hand on Sero’s shoulder, who has now shaking his head.

“No not like that. You’ve been confessing your feelings to the same guy every day for this entire month, yet you can’t pick up when a guy is telling you how he feels about you,” Sero said.

“Very funny Sero-,”

“I’m not joking Kaminari.”

Kaminari knew that, he even knew that before he said the joking comment. He just really wanted to believe that this was some lame joke, because if it was then he didn’t have to think about what that means, like he’s doing now.

How had he not noticed? He really did meant it when he said Sero was his best friend, how bad of friend must he have been to be so oblivious to it he wondered.

“You like me?”

“Yeah. Look I know you and Shinsou have this weird thing you two are doing for the rest of June, and I wanted to be a good friend for you so bad and just support you, but I didn’t want to go on without telling you how I really feel while I still had the chance,” Sero explained and Kaminari being struck by the sincerity in his eyes.

“Sero,” Kaminari said feeling too overwhelmed by all of this to come up with something constructive to say.

Then as if his life needed to be anymore hectic Sero leaned in and kissed him and Kaminari was too stunned to do anything about it either way. The sound of the stairwell door opening pulled them apart to where the last person he wanted to see this in the whole entire world was standing right there.

“Shinsou, it’s not what it looks like,” Kaminari said. Shinsou already having walked away before he could even get all of that out. He then looked over at Sero, where after a moment he looked down guiltily and walked away. Kaminari tempted to call out to him, but then stopping being so unsure what the right move is now.

Day (20 ¾)

After collecting himself as much as he could, he texted Sero several times asking to talk which all went unread and then he headed over to Shinsou’s door, because if anything was still true in his life, it’s how much he never wanted to hurt Shinsou’s feelings. He’d already knocked on his door and which had gone unanswered, but Kaminari still tried knocking again despite expecting the same result.

“I know you don’t want to talk to me right now,” Kaminari decided to say knowing Shinsou wasn’t going to answer the door. “But you have to believe me when I say what you saw, it’s really not whatever it is your thinking,” Kaminari pleaded.

After being met with silence Kaminari rested his forehead against Shinsou’s door holding back tears because he had no idea how to make this better for anyone involved.

“Shinsou?” Kaminari asked before deciding to fall onto territory familiar to him. “I know you’re in there. Come on this a prime opportunity for you to slam the door in my face. You’ve never told me you like doing that, but from how often you do it, I know you take joy in it,” Kaminari said trying to make things lighthearted, willing to try about anything to help the situation, but was still met with silence. “Not even once for old time sake,” Kaminari added. Kaminari tried knocking again, before a door swung open except it wasn’t the door he wanted, it was Todoroki’s.

“I don’t mean to intrude but you’re being quite loud and people are trying to sleep,” Todoroki said.

“Oh sorry,” Kaminari said adding it to the list of things he’s messed up tonight.

“If my opinion on the matter means anything. Being patient and giving people time and space can go along way,” Todoroki suggested. “Good night Kaminari,” he said leaving Kaminari alone with his thoughts again. Seeing as everything else was failing he figured Todoroki’s advice couldn’t make things worse than they already are.

Day (21)

Kaminari woke up still feeling exhausted and his headache hadn’t gone down any, but he’d have to ignore all that for now and just make it through the day. When he was walking to class in the common room he caught eyes with Sero, who then looked away and walked off again. Todoroki’s words of needing space came to mind.

If things with Sero were bad, things with Shinsou were even worse. At least Sero would look at him occasionally, Shinsou avoided all contact at all costs.

To make things easier he decided to eat lunch with Jirou and Momo where he tried his best to be fully engaged in their conversations, but his current situation squandering any sense of distraction by constantly jumping to the forefront of his mind.

“You okay?” Jirou eventually asked.

“I will be,” He said with a forced smile and Jirou giving him enough kindness to drop it.

After classes ended he laid out on his bed and listening to music in his room. He grabbed his phone to change the song for not being properly sad enough when what will probably be a bad idea came to his head. Kaminari went through his contacts and clicked on Shinsou’s number. Shinsou would be training with Mr. Aizawa by now, meaning the phone would ring all the way through. It was also a good sign that Shinsou hadn’t blocked him, at least not yet anyways.

The ringing finally ended to where he was still greeted with, “You’ve reached Hitoshi Shinsou’s phone and if you're hearing this message I’m obviously not here so leave a message after the beep. Also hey Kaminari.” Kaminari’s chest swelled up with this being closest he’s gotten to having Shinsou talk to him at all. Oh how badly he wished he could go back to two days ago.

“Hey Shinsou, I know I’m the last person you want to hear from today, but I did make a promise to you didn’t I? So just please believe me when I say I like you, I mean it so much. Anyways try and have a nice day, bye,” Kaminari said before hanging up.

A couple of hours later a loud knocking landed on his door.

“I know you’re in there. Hurry up and answer the door already,” Kaminari heard Bakugou say from behind the door.

Kaminari cautiously answered it to be greeted with Mina, Kirishima, and Bakugou all clustered together.

“What are you guys doing here?”

“To get down to whatever is causing all this stupid moping business,” Bakugou said. Kaminari was tempted to say he didn’t feel like talking right now, but knowing Bakugou that would be ineffective.

“Come in,” Kaminari said letting them in.

“You want to tell us what’s even happening anymore?” Kririshima asked once everyone got settled in.

“Not really, but here it goes. To make a long story short, Sero confessed to liking me and then kissed me, which Shinsou saw and now wallah here we are,” Kaminari answered.

“Sero actually told you how he feels?” Mina asked.

“Wait you knew and you never thought to tell me?” Kaminari asked.

“First of all, not my secret to tell, and no, at least not directly, but there were signs,” Mina said defending herself. Which then made the feeling of Kaminari being a bad friend who’s completely unaware of how his other friends are feeling return.

“Look we’ll help with the Sero thing,” Kirishima said.

“I don-,” Kaminari tried to object.

“We’re gonna help with Sero,” Kirishima said making it clear Kaminari wasn’t going to talk them out of it. “And then with Shinsou, I don’t think we’ll be much help but maybe I can try talking to Midoroya and -,”

“Please don’t,” Kaminari injected. “That’ll probably just make things worse. You guys don’t have to worry about the Shinsou thing okay,” Kaminari said.

“Of course we do,” Mina said and Kaminari looked at her in confusion. “We’re your friends so we’ll do whatever we can to help, and I know you’d do the same for us too,” Mina said making Kaminari feel better than he has for the past day or so. “Hug?” She asked with her arms stretched open, and there was nothing Kaminari wanted to do more in that moment.

Kaminari walked into her arms and rested his head head on her shoulder. She wrapped her arms around and he’d have to make sure to compliment her hugging skills later. Kirishima decided to join in too and make this was a group hug and Kaminari wasn’t complaining. Even Bakugo awkwardly patted Kaminari on his head.

Day (22)

Kaminari ate lunch with Jirou and Momo again that day, during which he got a text from Kirishima asking to hang out after class. Kaminari was too trusting of his friends to pick up on anything suspicious, but he really should have because when he arrived to Kirishima’s room later that day he was pulled in and had the door shut behind him.

“I’m not letting you two out of here until you guys talk to each other,” Kirishima said from the other side of the door. Then he saw Sero sitting on the edge of Kirishima’s bed.

“He’s really not going to let us out, I’ve tried to escape already,” Sero said breaking some of the tension.

“I see,” Kaminari said. He then decided to join Sero and sat beside him.

“Hey.”

“Hey.”

“I’m sorry-,” Sero and Kaminari said at the same time. They both sort of laughed at their timing.

“Jinx you owe me a soda,” Kaminari said trying to lighten the mood before things got serious. “Let me go first?”

“You don’t have to apologize for anything,” Sero said.

“But I should have been paying better attention, if I did then maybe I would have noticed and you wouldn’t have-,”

“I didn’t want you to notice,” Sero admitted. “I actually tried really hard to make sure you hadn’t.”

“Why?”

“Because we're friends and I didn’t want to mess things up between us and have things end up . . . like this.”

“I see.”

“I’m sorry for dumping all of that on you at once by the way,” Sero said. “And for uh . . . kissing you.”

“If it makes you feel any better I was never mad at you.”

“Even when Shinsou saw?”

“Yeah, even when Shinsou saw. I’ve had time to think about it and I’m honestly happy you told me how you really felt, so you weren’t in the wrong about that. The kissing thing . . . I mean a lot was going on in the moment, I mean I know I was overwhelmed, so I’ll let it slide,” Kaminari said. “I mean to be fair, Shinsou hasn’t given me much warning when he’s kissed me either, so-,” Kaminari blurted out and cringed wondering why can’t he ever think before he talks.

“You two kissed?”

“Uhhhh I mean y’know . . . once or twice.”

“Oh.”

“I’m so sorry. I know you probably really didn’t want to hear all that. It just slipped out,” Kaminari apologized and explained.

“It’s ok, I believe you,” Sero said. “You haven’t told me how you feel, if I’m not in the wrong for telling you, you’re not in the wrong for telling me, even if it’s something you think I don’t want to here,” Sero added.

“I-,” Kaminari started unsure what to say. “I don’t know, I’ve never thought of you in that way before,” he finally answered.

“And right now?” Sero asked and Kaminari looked into Sero’s eyes, trying to reach for something only to feel nothing in return.

“I’m sorry. Sero you know how great I think you are and-,”

“If you’re giving me the, it’s not you, it's me speech, you can stop already,” Sero said.

“But I really do mean it,” Kaminari defended.

Sero gave him a sympathetic smile before saying, “I know you do. I’m sorry for messing up whatever you and Shinsou had going on.”

Kaminari hadn’t known what to say to that, so in a rare moment he chose not to say anything.

“Has he talked to you since then?”

“Nope,” he said. He then groaned a fell back on Kirishima’s bed and stared at the ceiling. “I get why people say love’s a scam now,” he added. Sero laughed at the comment and laid down beside him.

“No need to tell me twice.”

Day (23)

Just when things seemed to be going back into a positive direction for Kaminari, life had to throw in one more curveball. Kaminari who has now gone back to sit with Bakagou and them, after he and Sero talked everything out, left to go use the restroom and on his way out had to bump into Shinsou of all people. This probably being the first time they’ve looked at each other face to face since Tuesday.

“Sorry,” Kaminari spoke first then started rushing back to his table.

“Kaminari!” Shinsou called out. Kaminari heart jumped in his chest after hearing that.

“Yeah?” He said turning around and seeing Shinsou stroll over to him with his hands in pants pockets.

“I want to apologize to you,” Shinsou said, surprising Kaminari because he really did not expect to hear that.

“You do?”

“Yes. I shouldn’t have gotten so mad at you for what I saw the other day,” Shinsou explained.

“What are you -,” Kaminari began to say, having no idea where any of this was going.

“I mean, it wasn’t like you were my boyfriend or anything,” Shinsou said and Kaminari hoped he didn’t make a face showing how much that stung. “I’m just letting you know you’re free to go around kissing as many people you want, and that you can forget this whole stupid confessing thing, so stop calling,” Shinsou said staring at him coldly.

“Shinsou,” he said, his voice sounding weaker than he wanted.

“Bye,” Shinosu said walking off past Kaminari.

Kaminari had a lump in his throat and instead of going back to his friends he just ditched the rest of class that day and went up to his room to just wallow in some blankets.

Day (25)

It was convenient timing Kaminari went home that weekend. While he hadn’t told his mom anything was wrong and she didn’t pry, he noticed she’d bought more of his favorite foods at the store than she usually did.

So there he was sitting on the couch watching some silly reality show, while scooping ice cream into his mouth. Now finally getting why all those movies depict this happening, ice cream truly is comforting.

During a commercial break he checked his phone and then needed to double check after seeing the notification that read:

Shinsou 💜

Voice Mail

Kaminari stared at his phone a couple seconds too long because it went back to sleep. Despite the chance that the message is probably a ‘yeah I still hate you and everything you stand on’ message Kaminari still was tempted to listen. He woke up his phone again and quickly typed in his passcode and went to listen to the voicemail anyway.

“Hey Kaminari I was wondering if we could talk for forreal, After school tomorrow where you first confessed to me. Don’t show up because you feel you owe me. I won’t take it personally if you choose not to. Later.”

Kaminari briefly wondered what could have happened that gotten Shinsou to talk to him to him again. Then wondering whether or not he should show up. Shinsou hadn’t sounded so upset anymore so Kaminari thought this sounded doable.

Day (26)

This time when Kaminari arrived Shinsou was the one to be here early, Shinsou had his back turned to him when a thought came to Kaminari’s mind.

Kaminari tapped his shoulder and said “looking for someone.” Which apparently startled Shinsou before he whipped around to look at Kaminari, who was finding it kind of fun seeing Shinsou be the startled one for a change.

“Kaminari,” Shinsou said in surprise. Then he quickly regained his composure. “I want to apologize to you, for forreal this time,” Shinsou said.

They looked at each other for a moment before Shinsou straightened his back in preparation.

“You didn’t deserve the asshole I was to you on Friday. I just felt so . . .shitty, and then when I ran into you, I wanted you to feel just as bad, if not even worse than what I was feeling. The day I ran into you and Sero, the reason I was on your floor was because I heard about how you overused your quirk and wanted to check up on you. So when I saw that, it just seemed like life was waiting for the right moment to pull the rug out from under me and laugh for ever being so silly to think something like this was real,” Shinsou explained, a rare moment laying all his feelings out on the table.

“Oh,” Kaminari said too overwhelmed to know what to say. “What happened to change your mind?”

“Sero,” Shinsou answered. “He came to talk to me on Saturday and explained everything that happened.”

Kaminari was taken aback to hear that, he always knew Sero was a great guy but he didn’t have to go that far for Kaminari with all things considered.

“You don’t have to forgive me if you don’t want to, I just wanted you to know that I’m sorry,” Shinsou explained. When Kaminari hadn’t responded Shinsou taken it as a hint of it being more a I rather not than a yes and then started to head back towards his dorm.

Kaminari was just still overwhelmed and processing everything, but as Shinsou walked a few feet away something sparked in Kaminari and he clenched his fists and turned around. “Shinsou!” He called out.

Shinsou halted his steps and turned around.

“I like you!” he yelled out.

Shinsou looked at him completely stunned for a moment which then became a somewhat bashful expression before he had turned around and walked away, his footsteps seemingly lighter.

Day (27)

“Alright here’s my tip just do -,” Shinsou began to say before the slam of the door interrupted him.

“You’re onto something Shinsou! This is oddly satisfying!” Kaminari said from inside his room.

Shinsou wanted a way to make up for being an asshole and that was when Kaminari came up with this genius idea. Finally wanting to understand the appeal it had on Shinsou.

“Shinsou?”

“Yeah?”

“Not even this door between us can block out my crush on you,” Kaminari said and Shinsou groaned. Kaminari swung the door open again to see Shinsou’s unimpressed face.

“Really that was the bes-,” Shinsou managed to get before the door shut in his face again.

Kaminari started to laugh finding this to actually be really fun, and Shinsou had agreed Kaminari was allowed to do it as many times as he pleased. Kaminari swung the door open and getting ready for the right moment.

“Sorry to interrupt whatever weird flirting ritual you two are doing, but the door slamming and yelling are quite disruptive,” One of Shoji’s dupli-mouth’s said peeking from the door.

“Oh. Sorry Shoji!” Kaminari yelled out to his next door neighbor.

They’d have to pick this up again at a better time and place.

Day (30)

Shinsou and Kaminari were marathoning some british baking show Shinsou mentioned he liked. With it being a Friday night, the two could stay up as late as they want with no repercussions. The commentator remarked on how delicious one of the cakes looked.

“If they think that looks delicious they clearly haven’t seen you yet,” Kaminari said. Shinsou chuckled and shook his head at that one.

“That was your last one,” he said.

“I know.”

“How does it feel?”

“You know I’d like to thank my mom, my dad, oh and you of course, and all the little people,” Kaminari said making Shinsou genuinely laugh at that. “It’ll kind of be weird to not have to do it anymore, maybe I’ll still do it every once in awhile for old time sake,” Kaminari contemplated.

“I guess we’ll just have to see how you feel tomorrow.”

Day (0)

Kaminari had actually become pretty invested since they started watching, it was refreshing to watch competition not be so dramatic and negative for once.

“Kaminari?” Shinsou asked.

“Yeah?” Kaminari replied still enraptured by the show.

“I like you too,” Shinsou said. Which easily pulled Kaminari’s focus away from the show.

“Shinsou,” Kaminari said in surprise. This being the first time he’s ever heard Shinsou say it back, well the first time as far as Kaminari’s memory served.

“It’s twelve a.m. meaning it’s officially July 1st, so here’s my answer,” Shinsou said a spark shining in his eyes. “I like you, I like you too, I like you so much, I like you, I like you, I like you, I-,”

“Woah Shinsou slow down, I-,” Kaminari said. This was too much for him, he wasn’t built to deal with this. “What’re you doing?”

“I’m making up for all the days I never said it back to you.”

Kaminari was stunned, this by far was the most romantic thing to have ever happened to him. Almost too romantic, he’s not sure if his heart can handle all this.

“You know you made me lose track, I guess I’ll just have to start all over and say I like you thirty times,” Shinsou said.

“I mean technically it’s 27 we kind of missed a couple days back there.”

Shinsou let out a small laugh and said “I excused those for you, so here comes your thirty I like yous Denki Kaminari.”

This was definitely going to be too much for Kaminari, he had to come up with a way to stop Shinsou quick.

“I like you, I like you, I like you, I like you,” Shinsou began to say before he was interrupted with Kaminari’s lips against his. When they pulled away both their hearts were beating rapidly. “I like you,” Shinsou said again and Kaminari leaned in to shut him up with a kiss. Shinsou pulled away and sounding a bit more breathless this time said, “I like you,”

“I like you too,” Kaminari said shutting Shinsou up once again.

“It’s just supposed to be me saying it,” Shinsou explained.

“Some rules were meant to be broken,” Kaminari said before leaning in to kiss Shinsou again.

This went on for quite a while with the odds being Shinsou never actually made it to thirty, but Shinsou and Kaminari couldn’t quite bring it to themselves to really care.
