Chapter Text
Bakugo had been avoiding the encounter for days, then those days became weeks, those weeks turned to months, and finally the months grew into years. Not once had he thought this day would come, and so unannounced that he didn’t know how to react. Hell, he could barely move from the entrance of the deserted street, his eyes straining to see the silhouette beneath the flickering neon sign that read Café Cantina in shades of red, white, and green.
The silhouette didn’t have to utter a single word for Bakugo to hear the name ‘Kacchan’ in the cool night breeze. They didn’t have to move for him to know they would follow behind him wherever he were to go; he walked passed them, kicked the café door in, and slammed it behind him before they could follow.
Four years.
For four fucking years they had gone without contact of any kind, and he decides to show up tonight, out of the blue now, and without a goddamn care in the world?
Bells ring, the sound ricocheting from the walls of the empty establishment in waves, and foots steps follow behind him. Bakugo sits at the bar, the man behind the counter quickly moves to get his drink having memorized what he’s always ordered at these hours. He brings two drinks, one for Bakugo and the other for the now fidgeting Deku sitting next to him.
Bakugo turned ever so slightly, right foot pointing towards Deku, his left elbow resting on the counter, his eyes on his drink. Deku was facing him completely, slightly slouched on the bar stool, both hands holding his drink, but his eyes were completely focused on Bakugo taking a slow sip of his drink.
They say nothing.
They never had to.
With no words, they understood.
