New building, new practice hall for BTS. Unlike their old building where the floor is concrete and tainted with marks due to their never-ending rehearsals for their comeback. It’s floorboard finally.
The boys are standing in their usual order – Yoongi, Taehyung, Jin, Jungkook, Namjoon, Jimin, and Hobi – waiting for the instructions from PD for their new Run! Episode. All are anxious on what it is going to be—anticipating on who they will be teamed up or paired with.
“I’m always paired with Yoongi-Hyung” Hobi exclaimed almost complaining. And perhaps hinting to pair him with someone else. “I’ve not paired with Taehyungie for the longest time” He smiled and even pointed at Taehyung on the other end who gave a sweet, agreeing smile.
At last, PD declared what their episode for Run! this time. And it’s random dance! Everyone gushed—
Namjoon sighed in despair. Jin was giggling almost insinuating how ridiculous this task. Hobi and Jungkook were smiling widely trying to keep their cool.
“Ah PD-nim, do we dance individually?” Jimin asked.
Everyone anticipated for the PD’s response.
“You pair with another member” The voice behind the camera responded.
“Ahh...” Everyone acknowledged. “How do we select our partners then?” Hobi asked hands clasped.
“Team A…” PD announced, “J-hope, Jungkook, V”
Although puzzled, the boys huddled together. Hobi giggled welcoming Taehyung in his team. Jungkookie immediately hugged his Hobi hyung.
“That means we’re in the same group, then?” RM confirmed pointing at Jin and Yoongi and Jimin.
“Team B…RM, Jin, Suga”
The boys also huddled to the left side of the room. Jimin stood alone in the middle. Confused.
“Jiminie…” PD continued, “Jiminie is the emcee”.
“Ahh…” they all again acknowledged. “BTS’ Main Dancer!” Jungkook said in English.
“What about Hobi-ssi?” Jin still in puzzles.
“Ah, I want to play” Hobi said.
“Hobi…” RM pointed at Hobi who looks already flustered, “Hobi’d rather dance than emcee” he said nodding.
Everyone agreed. The camera panned to Kookie massaging Hobi’s shoulders and smelling his hyung’s hair in his usual childish and innocent self.
“Team B will pick numbers 1,2,3 which will be the order they pick their partner from Team A”
The boys all squirmed hearing what PD just said. It was already a chaos. Jimin and Hobi are already laughing almost rolling on the floor.
“YAH Taehyungie, YAH!” Jin teased as Tae being on the ‘Dance Line’.
Tae smiled embarrassed looking away at the camera.
“Taehyungie’s a dancer. He memorized all our old choreography” RM pacified Jin.
Jin was still giggling, “but admit it, RM-ssi, you like to be paired with Hobi”
Jimin and Hobi just kept laughing.
Yoongi interrupted everyone from going crazy to already start picking their numbers from the bucket.
When the boys revealed their numbers, Yoongi got 1, Jin got 2, and RM got 3. The rest of the boys continued laughing hysterically.
Namjoon jokingly threw the paper on the floor. And Yoongi and Jin also joined laughing. Taehyung just kept smiling awkwardly.
“Taehyungie is a great dancer. He freely expresses himself in his dance moves” Jimin suddenly toned down and said seriously putting his hand over his friend’s shoulder comforting Tae.
Everyone started agreeing in chaos. But Tae was just quiet.
They all settled in and waited for Yoongi to pick his partner. Hobi was smiling nervously. He just aims to be picked first—and confident Yoongi will pick him—like he always does. Jin was also anticipating on who Yoongi is going to pick.
Then Yoongi started to talk, “I’m going to pick…” paused and looked at Hobi who is nervously smiling back at him, “ah! Hobi and I have danced together before. I’m going to pick Jungkook this time to be my partner”. And pointed at Jungkook who smiled like a child.
Jungkook walked to be beside Yoongi and hugged his hyung.
“You also danced together before!” Jimin exclaimed. But Yoongi ignored smiling.
“What if Jin-Hyung picked Taehyung instead of Hoseok?” Namjoon said laughing. They all laughed.
Jin reacted all blushing, “Why?! Why?! Why would you say such thing?!”
Jimin, holding the script, was laughing hysterically. Taehyung was smiling awkwardly almost wanting to just evaporate. “Ah, these hyungs are mean!”
Hobi, like always in scenarios like this, just kept smiling with his hands clasped. “Ah, let Jin hyung pick his partner already!” Yoongi interrupted sensitive of Tae’s situation.
“Hoseok-ah, it’s a sign you’re wearing the shoes I gave you on your birthday. We’re meant to be dancing partners…” Jin finally said welcoming Hoseok as his partner.
Jimin, trying hard to control his laughter announced, “then RM-hyung will be paired with Taehyungie”.
“We’ll kick ass!” Namjoon cheering Taehyung as he stood beside him.
In a fortunate turn of events, Namjoon and Taehyung won the rounds. And it’s Hobi and Jungkook’s teams to battle for the second place so as not to get the punishment.
Hobi was smiling but is worried on the possible outcome. Jin is making his best effort to match Hobi’s dance but failed too many times hilariously. Yoongi also kept missing synchronizing Jungkook’s steps and maneuvers.
Jungkook is smiling childishly at his Hobi hyung. He’s a great dancer, but he would feel bad if Hobi loses against him. He just cares too much of his Hobi hyung’s feelings. But he also does not like to lose and get the horrible penalty. Which they have yet to know.
Hobi is much more stressed now. There is only one dance routine left for them to perfectly execute. PDs prepared two BTS old songs and they must pick a song that they will dance in perfect coordination.
The four members reacted violently.
“But I’ve already forgotten the choreography of our old songs!” Hobi protested.
“Yah! Only Jungkook remembers all our dance steps!” Seconded Jin blushing all over. His face is about to explode.
“I don’t even remember the steps in Not Today anymore” Yoongi smiled snickering. While Namjoon and Taehyung and Jimin are all seated watching the four members in chaos.
“I hope the songs are not too long ago…” Jungkook said smilingly.
“We’ll dance our parts, right?” Hobi verified to the PDs. “Or we have to have the same steps?” Seconded Yoongi.
PDs assured that they picked the parts of the song with the same choreography for all members. “Ahh, okay okay” Hobi understood.
PDs finally presented two folded sheets of paper. And Hobi and Jin played rock, paper, scissors as to who will pick for their team – Jungkook and Yoongi did the same. It’s Jin and Jungkook! The two walked towards the PDs to pick their choice of papers.
Jimin started singing parts of Butterfly—and the three started laughing. Yoongi and Hobi laughed along nervously as they both no longer remember the choreography of that song.
The four waited for the signal from PD to reveal their songs. At the count of three, Jin and Jungkook unfolded their papers and revealed their songs—
Danger for Jin and Hobi. I Need U for Jungkook and Yoongi.
“YAH, I don’t know Danger anymore!” Hobi was hysterical but laughing.
Jin was laughing too, “how will I have confidence if Hobi doesn’t remember anymore? Hope-ah! Get it together!”
“Ey, we danced Danger in Gayo Episode last year,” Yoongi reminded Hobi.
“We perform it in our concerts!” Namjoon shouted. Hobi swiftly glanced at him, “we don’t do choreography anymore! We just sing it…”
“Ah, that’s true.” Namjoon agreed right away.
“We just danced I Need U at our Comeback!” Hobi was still disputing. Yoongi and Jungkook are just laughing at him. He finally settled and admitted their fate.
Jungkook and Hobi played rock, paper, and scissors to see who will go first. Jungkook won and he and Yoongi stood in the middle and wait for the song. Jin and Hobi stepped aside to watch the two.
INU started playing. And everything was going smoothly as Jungkook and Yoongi are very familiar with the part of the song. Until Yoongi messed up one step.
“YAH! YAH! Yoongi hyung got it wrong!” Hobi immediately called out.
Yoongi pretended to ignore it. Jimin and Taehyung stood up and pointed out that his choreography is wrong. Jungkook stopped dancing as he already got interrupted with the commotion.
“왜? 왜? (Why? Why?)” Yoongi pretended to not understand what they’re talking about.
“Hyung, you danced it like this…” Jimin and Taehyung simultaneously demonstrated how Yoongi danced, “when it should be like this…” and danced the correct choreography.
Wide-eyed, Yoongi disputed, “it’s the first verse!”
“It’s the second verse, hyung!” Jungkook sounded frustrated although smiling. “How come you didn’t know it’s the second verse? We’ve been dancing for 1 minute already!”
“YAH, this friend…” Jin teased.
“Aissh!” Jungkook frustratingly exclaimed.
“Ah, wrong! Wrong! Move, it’s our turn” Hobi shooing Jungkook and Yoongi.
Jimin and Taehyung moved back to sit beside Namjoon. “Yah, Yoongi hyung is unbelievable!” Jimin is teasing cannot contain his hysterical laugh.
“I think he intentionally did it…” Namjoon softly said almost teasing, slightly gazing at Hobi.
It was silent for a moment. Then Jimin broke the silence and snickered hitting Namjoon almost getting what he’s trying to say.
Yoongi remained oblivious of the scenario. Hobi also ignored it and shouted, “Music please!”
Jin’s moves may not be as smooth as Hobi’s, but he perfectly remembers their choreography. And Hobi nailed the parts too. And they placed second!
Penalty. PD gave a heads up that the penalty can only be executed by one member of the losing team.
“Let’s play rock, paper, scissors,” Yoongi gestured to Jungkook.
Jin reacted, “You should be taking the penalty! You’re the one who made the mistake!” Again, with his face almost bursting. “This friend is really unbelievable!”
Yoongi was grinning. “Nah, let’s play rock, paper, scissors…” Jungkook said.
“Yah, our maknae is really nice!” Hobi cheered while fanning his neck with his hand from exhaustion. “I raised him well!” Jin shouted from the back, now taking Taehyung’s seat beside Namjoon. Taehyung sat on Jimin’s lap instead.
Jungkook smiled at Jin. Then they did rock, paper, scissors. Twice. And Jungkook won.
Jimin and Taehyung are rolling on the floor laughing. “It’s meant to be you, hyung” Namjoon calmly said sitting comfortably.
Hobi is awkwardly smiling. The thought that Yoongi might have really thrown off the game still lingers.
Yoongi stood in the middle waiting for the penalty. “What’s the penalty?”
PD handed out a cup with folded papers and asked Yoongi to pick his penalty. He picked the green paper.
“Oh, Hobi’s favorite color!” Namjoon couldn’t help teasing. Jimin snickered again covering his face with the emcee cards.
Ignored. Yoongi unfolded the paper and read it, “YAH! What kind of penalty is this?!” He exclaimed.
“Why, why? What is it?” Jimin asked. Jimin walked towards Yoongi to read what the paper said.
“Dance to Butterfly – “Jin snickered at the back. Namjoon laughed long, “the entire song...” and they both laughed hysterically.
“Pick a dance partner and dance to any song of your choice” Jimin read aloud. OT6 expressed their dismay.
“That’s boring”, Jin said deadpan. “But I just danced the entire time!” Yoongi exclaimed.
“What are the other penalties?” Jimin asked the PD and they handed him the cup of penalties. Jimin unfolded each paper, “OH! Kiss a member on the cheek!”
Namjoon reacted violently. “Aissh, they should stop asking us to do that. That’s embarrassing seriously,”
“It’s okay as long as I’m not doing it,” Jin snickered again. “How about Pepero game instead of kiss?”
“Enough, enough! I’m dancing…” Yoongi finally decided. “Hope-ah…” and reached out his hand for Hobi to take, “help hyung” he said.
“WHAT?!” Hobi exclaimed, “Why me?!”
“No more questions!” Jimin pushed Hobi to stand beside Yoongi.
“Dance Otsukare!” Namjoon shouted.
Hobi made a funny face dancing to Otsukare while singing in his screechy voice, “OTUKAREEEE”
Jimin, Jin, and Namjoon watch intently at Hobi and Yoongi standing awkwardly in front thinking of the song they will both dance. While Taehyung and Jungkook are both at the further back working on their new handshake not caring on what’s going on.
Hobi finally decided, “let’s hurry and just dance anything…Mic Drop?” He suggested.
As Yoongi was about to say something, PD played Serendipity. Everyone stopped. Even Taehyung and Jungkook paused and looked at Yoongi at Hobi. While Hobi and Yoongi are both at awe.
“Whaa…” Hobi expressed his surprise, “seriously?”
Yoongi immediately held Hobi hand. “Let’s slow dance” Hobi couldn’t do anything anymore as Yoongi already started to slowly sway.
“Aaaah! Seriously?!” Hobi was still violently rejecting the idea although swaying with Yoongi too.
“Just act cool and let’s just get this over with” Yoongi suggested to ease the tension. And not to create tension among the team members watching them.
“Whoa, Yoongi’s really good at this!” Jin exclaimed. Jimin and Namjoon are trying really hard to keep cringing at the moment. Hobi’s blushing soooo hard.
To ease the tension, Jimin also pulled Jin and they also ridiculously danced beside Yoongi and Hobi. Taehyung and Jungkook playfully joined too.
And it finally ended with all of them laughing and teasing each other. Hobi was somehow relieved the focus was spread out to all the members and not just to him and Yoongi. He swears, Yoongi was into the moment—but he just ignored it.
Yoongi let go of Hobi coolly. “Alright, let’s end it here” The rest of the members waved at the camera, saying “BYE!!!!!”
