Jungkook was having the time of his life, being able to perform muster with his band members. This year’s muster had a mixed setlist which had made the fans go crazy and gave them an opportunity to sing songs that they had never sang before. Jungkook loved the thrill but he was also anticipating cuddling with his boyfriend back in their dorm. Everyone was busy lately, preparing for muster that Jungkook didn’t get time to cuddle with Yoongi, and nothing beats laying under the covers of their soft blanket with their limbs entangled and just being in each others presence. He saw Yoongi and he looked beautiful under the lights that he couldn’t stop himself from saying “Suga Hyung I love you”. He saw the small fond smiles of Jimin and Namjoon but Yoongi didn’t respond. He felt anxious but then again it could be that that Yoongi didn’t hear him so he repeated it but was met with still no answer from Yoongi. Jungkook felt anxious but he couldn’t let it show after all ARMY’s were enjoying the muster and he could not ruin this for them so he smiled and ignored it.
After the concert, Jungkook ran towards one of the empty rooms and locked it while the others members were slowly filing out of the concert hall and into the backstage to unwind and preparing to go back to their dorm. Jungkook couldn’t control his tears as they slipped down his face leaving their trail behind. If anyone asked he would say he was tired and the wetness was due to the sweat. Jungkook knew Yoongi loved him, but since their relationship was not public and was hidden from the world, Jungkook couldn’t help feel insecure. He didn’t want to seem weak but he couldn’t help it as more tears fell down his face as he felt the exhaustion seeping in. As Jungkook was crying he heard a knock on the door.
“Hey JK, open the door” whispered Jin as he knocked softly on the door.
There was no point in hiding his tears especially from his Jin hyung so Jungkook slowly unlocked the door letting his hyung inside. Jin didn’t ask why he was crying, wrapping his arms around Jungkook and just letting him cry.
“M’sorry hyung for getting your shirt wet” said Jungkook sniffling as he tried to calm down.
“Forget the shirt I’m going to be changing into a new one anyway, but tell hyung whats wrong” said Jin seating Jungkook on the chair.
“Its stupid hyung, forget it” mumbled Jungkook playing with the hem of his shirt.
“Nothing is stupid Jungkook, if you’re crying that means clearly something is bothering you” reasoned Jin.
“ On stage I said I love you to hyung twice but he didn’t reply and even going backstage hyung didn’t look at me. I know Hyung is tired and being in a relationship doesn’t mean constantly being with each other but I couldn’t help but feel insecure. Especially because our relationship is not public. Its honestly stupid, I feel inconsiderate.” responded Jungkook, taking a big gulp of water.
Jin knew how hard it was on the younger keeping the relationship a secret but he was glad Jungkook was opening up and sharing about his feelings. “Hey JK you’re not stupid, its okay to feel insecure but you know how much Yoongi loves you right? Its not easy for you or him keeping this relationship a secret but talk to him. He will listen to you. Share your feelings with him, don’t think he won’t understand because he’s probably in the same boat as you. Regarding not saying the I love you back, you know Yoongi doesn’t openly show affection on stage unlike how he's back in the dorm but remember to share your feelings with him. He’s new to this relationship thing just as much as you” Jin said as he ruffled his Jungkook’s hair and stood up.
“Thanks Hyung for cheering me up” replied Jungkook as both he and Jin both left the room.
“Also JK I’ll order in some lamb skewers for you” yelled Jin as they filed into their cars.
“Thanks Hyung” yelled Jungkook. He was happy although still a bit sad and anxious but regardless he still was looking forward to cuddling with Yoongi when they got home.
After a hearty meal of lamb skewers and barbecue for dinner and a shower he made his way to Yoongi’s room only to find that it was empty.
“Hyungieee, where are you?” said Jungkook looking around the room. He looked in the bathroom but he wasn’t there, he looked at the couch and the kitchen and just in case in all the other rooms but Yoongi was nowhere to be found.
“Jungkook what are you looking for” said Jimin as he looked at Jungkook from the couch.
“Hyung where’s Yoongi hyung” Jungkook pouted as he looked at Jimin with his big doe eyes.
“I think Yoongi Hyung went back to the studio to finish up a few things” came Namjoon’s voice from the kitchen.
“Oh…. Um I’ll be going to sleep then” said Jungkook dejectedly. So Yoongi was ignoring Jungkook and Jungkook felt the telltale signs of crying as his eyes moistened. He made his way to his cold room and slipped under the warm covers. It was ironic that even though the covers were warm he was still cold without his hyung.
He had woken up in the middle of the night and saw that Yoongi wasn’t there, slowly getting up he made his way to Yoongi’s room to check if he was there and saw his face peeking out of the covers. Yoongi had never done this, he would always slip in beside Jungkook no matter how late it was. Jungkook was too exhausted to feel anything so he made his way back to his room and fell asleep.
The next morning the sun filtered into the room and Jungkook began to stir awake. He looked at the clock and it was well past 12. Strange no one had woken him up because usually if he didn’t get up at 10, someone would wake him up. He took the covers off of him only to see that there was something wrapped neatly. On a closer inspection it wasn’t one thing but two with a letter underneath it.
The card read:
Baby, I’m sorry for ignoring you on stage when you said I love you and then backstage. I’m sorry for leaving the dorm and going to my studio. I’m sorry for not slipping in with you at night. I have so much to apologize for and saying sorry is pointless. I’m not good with words but I love you. Ignoring you on stage was unintentional but I love you a lot. After the stage I felt useless as a boyfriend for ignoring you not knowing that this was also ignoring you. After I saw you with the red rimmed eyes and tears (not sweat stains) on your face. I knew I was the cause of those tears. So as soon as we finished dinner, I left for the studio and when I came back I looked at you sound asleep and I didn’t know if you wanted me to sleep beside after the hurt I caused you….
The letter was incomplete to Jungkook’s confusion. He saw the first neatly wrapped package and when he opened it he found a CD with the initials JK from YG. It was a song for Jungkook that Yoongi had prepared and from the looks of it, it was probably prepared last night. As he listened to it, a fresh set of tears rolled down Jungkook’s face. He was worried for no reason, Yoongi loved him. While opening the second package it emitted a gasp from Jungkook. It was a box and in the box was a set of intricately detailed promise rings.
Jungkook took the rings and sprinted towards the living room as he saw Yoongi sitting on the couch fidgeting and looking nervous. “
HYUNG” yelled Jungkook as he sniffled. Yoongi quickly stood up as he soon as he saw Jungkook.
“Baby I’m so sorry for making you feel insecure and I’m sorry for …” Yoongi was cut off as he felt a pair of soft lips and could taste the salt from Jungkook’s tears but he could care less. He was glad that Jungkook was there and close to him.
“We’re both idiots but I forgive you Hyung” whispered Jungkook as he hugged Yoongi tightly, just wanting to feel Yoongi.
“I’m sorry Baby” whispered Yoongi pressing a chaste kiss to Jungkook’s lips as he wiped the tears off of Jungkook’s face.
“Hyung its okay, but did you really stay up just to write me a song, you’re such a sap but you’re my sap. Thank you for doing that for me hyung, I really appreciate it. Also hyung the promise rings…”
“That’s my promise to you baby that I will always be here for you” said Yoongi as his slipped the ring on Jungkook’s finger and then the other on his own finger.
If you asked how Jungkook felt later , he would tell you that he felt amazing being surrounded by his band mates and feeling the thrill of performing and then being able to cuddle with his soft boyfriend Yoongi Hyung, as both of them fell sleep in each other’s embrace.
