Work Text:

Yoongi liked to drop hints that he was in love with Hoseok.

Little touches here, meaningful looks there, leaving his family on New Year’s Eve with a bucket of fried chicken that cost him a huge chunk of his paycheck only because his crush was sad and lonely.

You know, small hints.

He knew it wasn’t going to be enough to make the other boy reciprocate his feelings, or notice them for that matter because Hobi was too stubbornly oblivious to acknowledge other people’s advances. How many times could someone place themselves on his lap, having empty seats all around, without him catching that there must be something else going on? The answer might surprise you.

But really, Yoongi wasn’t doing it because he wanted Hoseok to love him back (he hoped so, of course, but still not the main reason). He was doing it because, as cheesy as it might sound, he loved the cute reactions.

“Hyung, are you okay?”

“Mmm? What do you mean?”

“Well…”

The younger’s eyes looked down at their current situation. Both on the couch, Yoongi leaning against him, making full contact with his side while one of his hands absentmindedly massaged the younger’s thigh and the other scrolled down through his social media.

They were both in the living room watching Friends por the eth time because Namjoon was really fucking tired of translating your passive agressive answers and your sound effects in every interview so do me a favor and learn English for fuck’s sake . Of course, the moment the angry rapper left the room, they lowered the volume and took their phones out. It wasn’t like they didn’t know English, Yoongi was almost fluent actually and he was teaching Hoseok in their rare free moments; they just prefered to pretend they didn’t know the language so they could avoid the same stupid questions about their fans and their love life.

No, they’re not crazy.

No, we’re not afraid of them.

Yes, we love the food here.

No, we are focusing on our careers at the moment.

Yes, thank you for asking. I want to collaborate with me, myself and my talented ass.

The same over and over again. So, sorry not sorry for being the leader of the most famous k-pop group, Joon-ah.

“I’m tired, SeokSeok.” Yoongi sighed closing his eyes and dropping his phone on the couch before making himself comfortable against the younger warm frame. “I’ll take a nap.”

“Okay?”

Yoongi smiled to himself, face nuzzling the clothed chest under him, basking on that wonderful scent.

Vanilla , he thought. His favorite scent for the last seven years.

“Goodnight.”

“G-goodnight, hyung.”

Yoongi’s heart clenched at that soft voice. In his mind, he could vividly see the lovely blush covering those cheeks, the confused frown, the adorable pout, expressive eyes.

Yes, he lived for this kind of reactions.

Maybe Hoseok would never love him the same way. Maybe he will always be just Yoongi-hyung and nothing else. But having him in his life was enough.

Or that was what he hoped.

Hoseok liked to pretend that he wasn’t in love with Yoongi.

A tough mission when he was totally, utterly and irrevocably in love with Min Yoongi.

He still remembered the first time he loved someone, or that he thought he loved someone. It was in school with his first (and only) girlfriend. She was loud, funny and had a lot of energy. They were a good pair, or that was what their classmates said, because they were really similar and lightened up every room. They always looked happy.

Really happy.

All. The. Time.

If Hoseok was feeling down, she was there to make him laugh. If she was having a bad day, he bought her favorite food to cheer her up.

It was great...until it wasn’t.

The truth was that they didn’t hate the idea of the other being sad or hurt., they just didn’t know how to deal with sadness. It was not a no, don’t be sad because I love you and it harms me and more like a please, don't cry because everyone’s watching it’s embarrassing kind of situation. They maintained a facade, a cheerful mask full of big smiles and loud laughs because they were that happy couple and didn’t want to disappoint. Her leaving him for another boy was kind of...relieving.

Who wanted to be with someone that only loved you on your highs but not in your lows?

Love should be a constant , he thought while looking down at the sleepy man on his chest. Not an obligation or a need.

“I don’t need you.” He said out loud at the unconscious man, stroking the soft hair. “I don’t feel like my life depends on you and I know yours doesn’t depend on me either. That’s makes it special because I don’t feel like I have to be here. I want to. “ Hoseok hugged Yoongi tighter, aware of not waking him up. “I really want to.”

With a deep breath, Hoseok closed his eyes. Enjoying his hyung’s calmness.

“That was deep, bro.”

Hoseok jumped on his seat, Namjoon’s deep voice almost scaring him to death and waking up Yoongi in the process.

“Joon, what the fuck?” He hissed while paying attention in any signal of his hyung waking up.

Namjoon kept peacefully eating from his huge bag of chips as if he didn’t almost kill his bandmate. “Should I bring your laptop? Maybe you can make that a song.” He said with his mouth full.

Hoseok winced. “Please, finish eating before talking.”

“You should call it,” he continued unperturbed, “ You, sleeping. Me, having a heart-boner. ”

“What the fuck is a heart-boner?”

Namjoon shrugged. “You tell me. I’m not the person having one right now.”

“I don’t have a heart-boner!”

“Denial is poisonous.”

“I’m not in denial!”

“Actually,” Namjoon widen his eyes, “that’s good.” He said, nodding his head as if he was already listening to the melody in his mind. “Yeah, really good. I can work with that. Denial is poisonous .”

“Yeah, it’s good. Go and work on that.”

“I will. But first…”

“What?” Hoseok was getting too impatient.

“When are you going to confess?”

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, c’mon.” Namjoon rolled his eyes. “Hobi, I have eyes. And they hurt because of the unresolved tension between you two.”

Hoseok gaped like a fish out of water, “I--I don’t--”

“You think I don’t know that you both speak English? You didn’t ask me to translate the menus on the States! You just ordered.”

“We were hungry.” Said Hoseok in a guilty voice.

“All this,” Namjoon said while moving his arms around, “the Friends situation and me wanting you to learn a language that you obviously know, it’s only because I wanted to give you space to talk to each other without the kids interrupting. Of course it didn’t help.” He sighed before taking a seat on the armrest and looking at him as if he was a father explaining to his kid why he couldn’t have ice cream before dinner. “Hobi, you need to talk to Yoongi about how you feel because if you don’t, it’s going to get worse. I promise he won’t get mad.”

“How do you know?” Hoseok asked in a small voice, evidencing his nervousness.

“I know. Believe me.” Namjoon smiled. “You love him, right?”

Hoseok took a big breath and then exhaled. “Yeah. I do. A lot, actually. Like crazy. Like...I can’t describe it.” He softly laughed. “It’s like when you wake up on an important day. Like the day we performed at the BBMAs, remember? We were so excited because it was a huge deal and we were going to see our favorite artists and perform on the same stage in front of them and we were so nervous but euphoric at the same time, you know?” He looked at Namjoon with bright eyes. “It's like that, Joon. Every single day. The mere prospect of having breakfast, composing together, even napping with him, just sharing the same space; it makes me start the day with a smile."

"He makes you smile?"

"Smiling is so much easier when I'm with him." Hoseok giggled.

“Good. I’m glad.” Namjoon dimples appeared at full mast as he fondly looked at them. “I think that’s all. Did you hear, hyung?”

“Yeah.”

Hoseok almost died for a second time when he heard Yoongi’s suspiciously too awake voice. He let a high pitched scream out and moved as quickly as possible to the other side of the couch.

With a final nod Namjoon got up, grabbing his bag of chips. “Good then. My work is done.”

“Thank you, Joon-ah.” Yoongi didn’t take his eyes off Hoseok. His face a mixture between fear and elation.

“No problem. I’ll leave you to it.” Namjoon held his thumbs up before hastily leaving the two silent males behind.

Yoongi couldn’t breath.

A lot, actually he had said

A. Lot.

He wanted to laugh, and cry, and maybe scream so he could let some contained energy out.

Hoseok loved him. He loved him. He made him smile. He made him feel happy to start the day. He wanted to share things with him and enjoyed his company and oh my God he needed his hand held quickly  or he was going to float away because he felt lighter than ever.

“Me too.” He said in a breathless voice.

“You too?” Hoseok frowned.

“I love you, too. A lot, actually.” The younger’s gasp was barely audible, Yoongi's heart pounding in his ears. "I have a full folder with songs that I wrote about you. About your smile, your laugh, your passion, your constant care for the others, your hard work. I wrote and wrote and wrote. I thought it was going to pass, just another crush and that's all. But no." He chuckled. "When I thought it was over, when I thought I didn't love you anymore, you had to do something as simple as making me a cup of coffee or asking me if I was okay and I was under your spell again." Yoongi took the other's hand, his thumb caressing the soft skin in a soothing manner. "I love you, Jung Hoseok, and I'm quite sure I'll keep loving you for a long long time."

Hoseok laughed, teary eyes looking at his hyung's, that were in a similar state. "I love you so much."

Yoongi laughed with him, scooting closer to the other man and touching foreheads with him. Their noses brushed, arms circled around each other, light kisses mapped their faces. At some point their lips met, prying tongues caressing, soft moans and i love yous leaving their mouths.

Hoseok  gently pulled away to look into his hyung's eyes. "We should exchange folders." He said with a dazzling smile. "I think I have two or three songs I wrote about you."

"Two or three?" Teased Yoongi with his eyes still trained on the younger's mouth.

"Two, three, maybe thirty but who keeps count of those things?"

Yoongi laughed out loud before attaching their lips again.

To hell with the trophies, the records and the stages. Kissing Hoseok was the most euphoric sensation in his life. He could die like this. He could live like this. He could---

A giant gasp was heard and they turned quickly to the source. "Oh my God it happened ."

He could kill Kim Taehyung.

"It happened." He looked between them with clear excitement plastered on his handsome face. "It really did."

"Tae--" began Hoseok but of course the exhilarated dongsaeng didn't even heard.

"JIMIN! COME HERE! IT HAPPENED!" He said, running to the bedrooms. "KOOKIE! HYUNGS! IT HAPPENED!"

Yoongi looked at Hoseok in shock, the dancer wide eyes and open mouth making him look funny.

"What's going on?" He whispered, Yoongi shook his head.

"I guess...our obliviousness was too much for them?"

Loud steps could be heard as Jimin appeared in the living room only to shout and clap like a little kid. "It really did!" He said before jumping to hug them both.

Namjoon smiled to himself while stroking his boyfriend's back, hoping that the youngsters excited yells filling the whole apartment wouldn't wake him up.

"They finally talked, uh?" Said a sleepy Seokjin.

"Yeah." He tightened his embrace, sighing against his love's silky hair. "It took them long enough."

"Stubborn bastards," Seokjin cutely yawned before returning to dreamland.

Namjoon chuckled, a sudden rush of pure adoration filling his body.

To hell with world recognition, big bank accounts and large crowds chanting his name. Holding Seokjin in his arms was what heaven must feel like.
