Summary:

Shigaraki Week Day 7

Prompt: Sun

Notes:

Here we are at the end of another wonderful Shigaraki Week. If you read all of mine I hope you enjoyed them because I enjoyed writing them. Our wonderful boy can never get enough attention.

Here are some villains at the beach relaxing because its what they deserve.

Work Text:

"No."

"Please, Tomura-kun?"

"No means no, Toga."

Toga had been pestering him for weeks to go to the beach. It was July. It was hot as all hell. It made sense she wanted to go to the beach but the League of Villains couldn't exactly roll up at the seaside and sunbathe now could they?

"But Tomura-kun, I've been looking around and I know where we can all go without it being a problem." She pulled out a wad of papers from behind her back. "Look!" She pointed at a spot on the Izu peninsula.

"My parents wanted to take me and my siblings to this beach on a vacation once. It's super picturesque but apparently, a bunch of people died there because they were stupid about the current so it's closed because it's too dangerous. No one would look there. The locals think it's haunted. It's perfect for us."

Tomura rubbed his temples. Toga was always talking him into shit he wouldn't normally do. Of course, most of the time the things she talked him into had been enjoyable experiences.

"How do you know anyone else wants to go?" he asked finally.

"Because I've already asked!"

"Okay, did you ask them or did you threaten them, because you can't tell the difference."

"Fine, maybe a little of both, but come on Tomura. We've been stuck in this boiling safehouse all summer. We don't have anything planned and everyone is going stir crazy. What's it gonna hurt? If anyone does turn up we can just kill them, please???"

Tomura refused to allow himself, as the Leader of the League, be swayed by puppy dog eyes.

"We don't have any beach things," he said, as though this would make any difference to Toga.

"Let me go out then." Toga said. "I'll shive some nobody, get beach stuff, and come back. I'm not gonna get caught, I never do."

Tomura didn't remember what having annoying younger siblings was like but he imagined it was exactly like this.

"How are we getting there, hm?"

"Oh, I already asked Ujiko, he said John-chan could take us." Tomura made a mental note to scream at Ujiko later.

"This is a bad idea," he said tiredly. "But you're annoying the shit out of me so fine. We can go to this, apparently deadly, beach."

Toga screamed and Tomura wished his ears had gotten blown off instead of his hand.

"Thank you Tomura-kun! It's gonna be fun, I promise! I'll get all the best stuff so it'll be like a real vacation."

"Fine, whatever, just leave me alone." It was too hot for this. He needed a nap.

Toga clapped her hands and skipped off to go murder some poor fool for a fucking beach umbrella.

Toga got so much stuff. She had gotten swimsuits for everyone, fluffy towels, sunglasses, sunscreen, several pails that Tomura thought were unnecessary, and of course, a beach umbrella. And so, John-chan's quirk barfed up the entire League of Villains on a white sandy beach in the middle of nowhere.

"I'm glad I left my arm at home," Sako said, "I would hate to get sand in it."

Toga was already off like a shot to find the perfect place to set up. When she was satisfied she called for Spinner to come help her set up the umbrella.

It was quite a sight. Toga had on a 2 piece she had told him was "literally the cutest thing she'd ever seen". She had gotten Spinner Stain boardshorts which Tomura planned on decaying the second Spinner was no longer wearing them. Sako and his one arm had on yellow trunks and a big shady hat. Dabi, who Toga had somehow gotten to come, she'd probably stabbed him or something, was lurking back along the tree line in the shade wearing blue shorts that, according to Toga, would bring out his eyes. Jin, in black trunks, had left his mask at home. Tomura himself had on sunglasses, red shorts, and a look that said he'd really rather not be here.

"Dabi why are you so far away?" Toga whined. Dabi glared at her.

"The sun hurts my scars. I'll come over once you put up the damn umbrella."

Eventually, Spinner managed to get the umbrella set up to Toga's exacting standards and everyone meandered over to lay their towels out. Tomura was about to lie down and just take a nap when something dropped onto his stomach making him grunt.

"Put sunscreen on, Shigaraki," Sako said from above him. "You'll burn to a crisp."

"What are you, my mom?" Tomura grumbled sitting up.

"We don't have time for you to get skin cancer," the older man said. "Put it on." Tomura groaned but grabbed the bottle, pouring sunscreen into the hand that didn't have cybernetic fingers. He didn't really know what he was doing so he just kind of slapped it on his face and chest and called it good.

"Don't go too far out in the water." He hollered after Toga and Jin who were racing towards the surf. "People died here, remember?"

They stayed at the beach for a long time. Jin, Toga, and Spinner had made promises to Dabi Tomura was sure they couldn't keep, to get him to come play soccer with them and Dabi was currently kicking everyone's ass.

"How are you so good at this? You're a noodle!" Jin yelled at him as Dabi kicked the ball right through his legs to Spinner.

"I played a lot when I was young." He answered, "It's a lot harder in the sand though."

Sako was sitting in the only chair quietly flipping his way through some novel. It was weird to see him without the mask on. Even weirder to see him with no tension in his shoulders. After Kurogiri Sako had tried to become the voice of reason, he wasn't usually listened to but he tried. He deserved a break.

Tomura just napped. The hazy heat and the sun made him sleepy and the breeze other the ocean kept him cool. It was so hard to sleep at the safehouse. They were so cramped and the city was so noisy. And of course, the ever-looming threat that heroes disguised as pizza delivery boys would find them. Here, he could bury his hands in the sand without worry. Letting the grains fall through his fingers felt good. He'd have to do some upkeep on the cybernetic fingers later but for now, it was worth it.

He always protested Toga's random ideas but someday he might learn not too.

The sun was setting over the ocean and Jin and Spinner had started picking through the forest for dry wood. Once they had a satisfactory pile, Dabi lit it up. Red flames licking the logs.

"You can use normal fire?" Tomura asked him questioningly.

"Of course I can. Blue just gets the job done better," he answered smugly. "I don't find a lot of use for the cooler red flames, but if we want the wood to last hotter isn't the way to go."

They sat around the fire in silence watching the starts come out across the dark ocean. No one said anything. Tomura had come to appreciate the quiet times the League had rarely. Everyone was loud and aggressive most of the time. That's just the way it was with people like them. But right now, with the sand still warm from the summer sun. No one needed to say anything. No one needed to prove they were the best. No one needed threats. They could just enjoy the quiet.

Because quiet times for the League didn't last for long.
