Work Text:
Tachihara watched as Tanizaki took a single fry, dunked it into his strawberry milkshake, and then ate it.
“Junichiro, I can’t believe you do that,” Tachihara stared in extreme distaste. “If we weren’t in public, I would’ve punched your pretty face.”
“Do what? Also, you would never punch me. You love me too much.” Tanizaki took a bite of his cream covered fry.
"That!”
“Oh. This? ” He dipped another fry into his milkshake.
Tachihara opened his mouth to speak, but before he could even get a word out Tanizaki shoved a fry into his mouth.
Tachihara’s initial reaction was disgust, but as he started chewing he realized it wasn’t that bad .
“It’s good right?” Tanizaki let out a small laugh.
Good was an understatement. The crispy hot fry paired with the cold and creamy milkshake produced such a satisfying texture. It was definitely not the soggy mess he thought it would be. Not to mention how the saltiness of the fries perfectly balanced out the milkshake’s sweetness. It was a match made in heaven. Tachihara couldn't believe he just now discovered this combination.
“I’ll take that as a yes, here we can share.” Tanizaki pushed his fries to the middle of the table.
“Thank you,” Tachihara responded while shamefully dipping a fry into his vanilla milkshake.
Before you knew it, the time had come for Tanizaki and Tachihara to test how strong their love truly was.
The dilemma that has started many arguments, damaged several relationships and is bound to happen to every pair.
It was the last fry.
The two lovers sat across from each other, staring at the golden brown french fry between them.
“It’s mine,” Tanizaki spoke up first.
“No, it’s not,” Tachihara replied.
“I bought it.”
“Yeah, with my money.”
“Well, it was for my order. You just wanted a burger and milkshake. I wanted fries with mine.”
“But you said I could have the fries.”
“No, I said we could share. There’s a difference.”
“Well, I didn’t hear that.”
Tanizaki slumped back into his seat and crossed his arms. He refused to continue this bickering in public.
Tachihara saw this as a perfect opportunity to steal the last fry.
“Michizou! How dare you,” Tanizaki slightly raised his voice.
“What? If you snooze you lose,” Tachihara teased. He began dunking the fry into his milkshake.
“Michizou, if you eat that I’m breaking up with you.”
“You can’t be serious.”
“I’m dead serious,” Tanizaki spoke with a straight face.
“Wait, wh—“
“It’s me or the fry. Choose wisely.”
Tachihara was in utter disbelief. Tanizaki had to be joking, no way was he making a big deal out of a single french fry. However, he didn’t want to risk ending their relationship, over a fry of all things. Tachihara thought long and hard about his decision, it was almost ridiculous as to how much he was thinking over it.
Tachihara felt Tanizaki’s stare burning into his brain as the seconds went by. His aura was so intense that it basically forced Tachihara to sacrifice the french fry.
“Fine. You can have it,” Tachihara muttered.
“I can’t believe that worked.” Tanizaki burst out laughing, “I love you.”
“Yeah, I know.” Tachihara stifled a smile.
Tanizaki took a bite out of the french fry but was surprised to see Tachihara leaning across the table two inches away from his face.
Before Tanizaki could even react, their mouths connected. He tasted traces of salt and ice cream on Tachihara’s lips. It took a second after pulling away for him to realize what just happened.
“Hey, what was that for?” Tanizaki whined.
“What are you talking about? I just wanted to kiss my boyfriend, is that not allowed?”
“You ate my fry...” Tanizaki pouted.
Tachihara just grinned.
“You planned this!” Tanizaki audibly gasped, “You’re going to pay for this.”
Now Tanizaki was the one leaning across the table. He grabbed Tachihara’s face and kissed him. Tachihara followed through but pushed Tanizaki away once he started using tongue.
“Gross, what was that for?”
“What?” Tanizaki licked his lips, “You tasted sweet.”
