The elements in the story so far:

Wood element [Green]
Extracted from wood and leaves. Can be extracted from living plants as well. The woodier the material, the more wood element it contains.

Water element [Blue]
Extracted from water, fish, as well as food heavy in water content (For example, tofu, pear).

Fire element [Red]
Extracted from fire (yes, in the fic you can extract elements from fire!), candle wax, oil, chili pepper, and ginger (Because ginger has "heaty" properties in traditional Chinese medicine).

Metal element [Yellow]
Extracted from, well, metal.

Stone/earth element [Dark brown]
Extracted from soil, stones, clay, bricks... the works. It can also be obtained from "earthy" foods like potatoes, although potatoes only contain little bits of it. It can also be extracted from living land animals, i.e. cats and dogs.

Spirit element [Light purple]
Can be obtained ethically by asking spirits to give their energy to be extracted, but can also be obtained unethically by extracting ghosts. It's the bread and butter of the fic's alchemy craft.

Life element [Pink]
Extracted from living things such as plants, animals, and... humans. The extraction process is painless, and extracting animals is treated the same way as killing them for food, except without pain.

Power element [Orange]
Extracted from edible things. Cooked food yield more power element, because they are more nutritious. Used to add to the quantity or size of a synthesized item.

Dark element [Dark blue]
Extracted from food that has gone bad, as well as poisonous things and things that are rotting or rotten.

Air element [Light turquoise]
Extracted from gassy vegetables like radishes, cabbages, and beans. It can also be extracted from living birds.

Evil element [Black]
Extracted from resentful energy. Very volatile, tends to cause (harmless) explosions
There is one secret element, but I won't show it until it's time. < v > it's because it's very rare and a bit hard to procure in-universe.
Anyways, it's a bit hard to express the guideline of coming up with recipes in words. But you can come up with the item without knowing the process, or vice versa.
For example, you tell me about your idea for a scented candle that repels fierce corpses, but you don't know how it could be synthesized. It's valid, I can come up with it later.
Or, you can tell me that you want to see what happens if you combine dark element, evil element, and a talisman paper. It's valid too. I can try and think about what the item can be.
However, consider LWJ and WWX's circumstances:
- WWX has seen more than enough chaos in his life, and he already knows that Lanling Jin is after the Stygian Tiger Seal because it's a very deadly weapon. He wouldn't want to synthesize another weapon like it.
- LWJ is... LWJ. A good person. While he is not banned by the spirits from synthesizing weapons, he wouldn't want to create something that can be abused by the wrong people, like JGY and JGS.
But still, it doesn't mean I will reject your idea right off the bat if you come up with a weapon. I just want you to at least keep those ^ in mind since it will affect what will and what they won't try to synthesize. They may end up synthesizing something they don't want to keep, though, so go wild!
You don't need to think of an item that will advance the plot. Even if you come up with something mundane or even silly, it's okay too. That said, here are some of the existing recipes in the fic. I may or may not add more. These are just samples as guidelines to help you come up with your own recipes:

Spirit ink [Normal]: A very versatile ink that powers up the user's intent. Can be used to create a wide variety of talismans
Spirit element, water element, potato (Contains power element to increase quantity of ink; contains earth element that can form its container; the potato's texture help turn the ink into a thick paste)

Spirit ink [Invisible]: Same as above, except invisible
Spirit element, water element, radish (Contains power element to increase quantity of ink; radishes turn invisible and soft when boiled, giving the ink its invisibility and gel-like consistency), earth element for the container

Alchemic fertilizer: Used to improve the quality of harvested crops, and to speed up their growth without compromising the health of the plant/quality of the crops
Earth element, water element, wood element, life element [This item has not been shown in the story, but it's already being used.]

Share Ring: Used to share items between the wearers of linked rings
Metal element, spirit element [WWX synthesized this offscreen before the story starts proper]

Eraser brush: A brush that can erase normal ink
Brush, soap (After Googling, I found out that the Chinese invented their own version of soap during the ancient times! hue hue)

*Reminder: Elements are not necessary to synthesize an item, but they can change or improve the qualities of a synthesized item!
