    The Oedipus complex is a theory made to describe the sexual development in the psyche of young people. It states that, as they grow, children will become more attached to the parent and family members of their opposite sex while competing with those of the same sex.

    Shouto's development wasn't how it should have been. He loved his mother and sister, but Shouto had never loved them like he loved his brothers and even his father. He didn't compete with them, either.

    But he did love his family. He loved Touya so much. He wanted Touya to be the only one Shouto ever loved, and he wanted to be the only one that Touya ever loved in return.

    Shouto learned that life didn't always turn out the way he wanted.

    Shouto needed to learn how to let go.
