Work Text:
It’s been a wonderful two weeks of being married, packing up, figuring out what they want to bring with them on their honeymoon to Hawaii. Hoseok has been working nonstop since their wedding, trying to get in as many hours as he can before he takes the month off.
Like right now, Yoongi twirls the ring on his finger, looking over the things laid out on the floor. They’ll be leaving this weekend and Yoongi is a little freaked out to be leaving Yeri alone for a month. He knows the guys will take care of her, Seokjin and Namjoon staying at the house with their baby Soobin, the others creating a time chart for when to spend time with Yeri, so he isn’t too worried, but he knows he’ll miss Yeri. They both will.
Sighing, he hears Yeri yell from the living room that mailman came, Yoongi exists the room, coming downstairs to see Yeri, all eight-year-old attitude that scarily resembles Yoongi when he was her age, although less jaded.
She’s on the couch, playing on the iPad, her tongue peeking out as she concentrates on her game, Jungkook sits beside her, having come over to discuss a tattoo idea Yoongi had for when he gets back.
He runs out to the mailbox, grabbing the supposed bills and… a thick envelope. He feels his heart drop to his stomach, dropping the other mail in favor of ripping open the envelope.
He skims over the words written till he finds what he’s looking for. Whooping as he laughs, surprising a few neighbors who are out. He hurriedly scoops up his other mail, running inside yelling for Jungkook. He’s definitely freaking out his neighbors, but he doesn’t care.
“What’s going on?” Jungkook asks, looking up from his sketchpad.
“I just got the letter, holy shit, Hobi was accepted.”
Jungkook pauses, a wide grin crossing his face.
Yeri’s eyes widen. “So dad is finally my dad.”
Yoongi crouches in front of Yeri, kissing her forehead. “Hobi was always your dad, this just makes it official. Like super official.”
“You should call him, tell him the good news,” Jungkook says.
“Better yet, I’ll see you later, Yeri gets your shoes, we’re going to surprise Hobi.”
Jungkook grins, waving bye as Yoongi rushes Yeri into the backseat and hops in, peeling out of the driveway.
He sends a voice text to Hobi, asking him if he’s at the station. He gets an affirmative and holds off on responding to any more of Hoseok’s texts as he drives.
He pulls into the parking lot of the station, jumping out, making sure Yeri’s keeping up and sees Taehyung cleaning the ambulance but pauses when he sees Yoongi and Yeri running over.
“Is everything okay?” Taehyung looks concerned until he spots the excited glint in Yoongi’s eyes, Yeri trotting along with a grin and looks down to the papers.
“Are those…?”
Yoongi nods. “Where’s Hobi?”
Taehyung doesn’t answer, just grabs Yoongi’s wrist, dragging him inside and yells for Hoseok.
Yoongi shuffles, nodding to some of Hoseok’s team he works with, meeting them from time to time, especially at the wedding. Yeri taps her foot, looking around. He sees Hoseok coming out of a door, looking from Taehyung to Yoongi then Yeri, surprised.
“Hey, babe. What brings you two here?”
Yoongi can’t even speak, just hands the papers to Hoseok, ignoring the audience their attracting as he lays his head on his husband's shoulder as he reads, feels his body tense before dropping the papers to the ground and ingulfing Yoongi in his arms.
“She’s your’s, officially,” Yoongi says into Hoseok’s ear, laughing as he feels Hoseok sniff on his shoulder, hiding his face.
Yeri fights her way through their joined bodies, raising her arms as Hoseok lifts her into his arms.
“Are you happy?” Hoseok asks Yeri, hugging her tightly.
“Yes! I’m very happy.”
Hoseok grins, looking at Yoongi with so much love in his eyes like he did at the alter, it still takes his breath away.
“So, since this is such a happy moment, does it mean you guys will stay instead of going to Hawaii?” Yeri asks, shuffling down till her feet hit the floor, smiling up at them with mischief shining in her eyes.
Yoongi snorts, Hoseok laughing out loud, bending down to plant a kiss right on Yeri’s forehead.
“Nice try, Yeri but we’re still going,” Yoongi says, running a hand through her hair.
Yeri pouts but doesn’t complain further.
Yoongi begins to speak, but the alarm going off interrupts, Yeri jumping as she looks around.
“We’ll celebrate tonight, yeah?” Hoseok says, walking backward to the ambulance like he did when he first officially met Yeri.
Yoongi nods, pulling Yeri back by her shoulder.
“Love you, both.”
“Love you too, dad. Be safe.” Yeri waves, Yoongi giving him a finger heart.
Hoseok’s eyes shine, before he runs off, getting in the front.
“Want to get some ice cream?”
Yeri grins. “Race you to the car.”
Laughing, Yoongi runs after his daughter, feeling light.

Bonus… a year ago.
Hoseok walked in the house, slumping against the door as he dropped his bag and kicked off his shoes. He had a bad night at work, lost a person in a terrible car wreck and it just kept going downhill from there. Meaning he was cutting himself an apple, which meant accidentally cutting his finger, ruining the apple.
He was rushed to the hospital to get stitches, which hurt more than the intricate infinity tattoo on his left forearm, the design blue and green, a feather overlapping with birds following one of the lines, Sunshine is written in cursive acting as one of the lines.
It’s a little cheesy, but Yoongi and Yeri are his sunshine and the tattoo seemed fitting, Jungkook doing an excellent job as always.
Looking down at his bandaged hand, he sighs going to the kitchen and pulling out sandwich fixings, reading the clock to see it’s getting close to four in the morning.
He hears footsteps coming down the stairs, knowing Yeri by how light the steps are. He looks down to see her rubbing her eye, holding Cooky close to her chest.
“Hey Sunshine, did I wake you?” Hoseok lifts the seven-year-old onto the counter, cutting his sandwich in half and taking off the crust on one of the halves.
Yeri shakes her head, taking the one without crust and munches on it sleepily.
“What happened to your finger?” Yeri asks,
“I cut it, wasn’t paying attention. What are you doing up?”
“Couldn’t sleep, I heard you come in.” Yeri yawns, finishing her sandwich.
They sit in silence for a moment, Yeri scooching closer, laying her head on Hoseok’s shoulder.
“Want to go back to bed?”
Yeri nods. “Can we go to the park today, daddy?”
Hoseok gets ready to respond but freezes, looking down at Yeri to see her eyes closed. He swallows, feeling a bright flash of love hit him right in the chest.
“Um, sure. Let’s get you to bed.” Hoseok lifts Yeri into his arms, going upstairs to tuck her in.
“Love you, Sunshine,” Hoseok says, bopping her nose to make her smile.
“Love you too, dad.”
Hoseok goes to his room, softly closing the door and looking to Yoongi who’s leaning against the headboard, his head tilted back, mouth wide open, his glasses still on and his laptop by his side. Hoseok snorts, going to take a quick shower before putting on some pajama pants.
He takes off Yoongi’s glasses, setting them on the side table along with his laptop. He runs a hand through Yoongi’s hair, pecking a kiss on his lips going to straddle his hips.
He grins when Yoongi groans tilting his head, his hands coming up to circle Hoseok’s waist.
“Wha’ time is it?” Yoongi asks when he pulls away.
“Around four.” Hoseok nuzzles the skin by Yoongi’s neck.
“You’re home early.”
Hoseok nods, lifting up his hand to show off his wrapped up finger. It truly shows how much Yeri and Hoseok get into trouble when all Yoongi does is sigh and kiss his finger.
“What did you do?”
“I cut it at work, it’s not that bad though, just a few stitches.” Hoseok slumps to his side of the bed, fidgeting with the hem of Yoongi’s shirt.
Stretching, Yoongi reaches over, carding a hand through Hoseok’s hair, tugging a bit. “What’s on your mind?”
“Yeri called me dad earlier.”
Yoongi raises a brow, watching a series of emotions go through Hoseok’s head. “Is that okay with you?”
Hoseok nods, meeting his with Yoongi’s. “I’m just not sure if she said it because she was tired or for some reason thought it was you.”
“Why don’t you talk to her in the morning.”
Reaching over, Yoongi turns off the lamp, plunging the room in darkness and snuggles up close to Hoseok.
“Yeah, I’ll do that.”

The morning comes with Yeri jumping around, her energy needing the park, riding her bike and running around. They had a late breakfast, Hoseok coming down around twelve, dressed and with his finger bandaged.
“Hey Hobi, are you coming to the park with us,” Yeri says, Hoseok looks to Yoongi, who’s already looking at him, both of them having a silent conversation.
“Um, you remember when you woke up when I got home?” Hoseok asks Yeri who nods, messing with her helmet.
“You called me dad, I know you were sleepy when you called me that, but if you want to start calling me dad you can. It would honestly make me happy.”
Hoseok and Yoongi hold their breath as Yeri thinks, tilting her head. “Okay, I would like that.” She whispers.
A slight choking sound can be heard, both pairs of eyes look to Hoseok, his eyes glistening as he lifts Yeri into a hug and sways from side to side.
“I love you so much, Sunshine.”
Yeri giggles, wrapping her arms around his neck and hugging back tightly.
“Are you coming to the park with us?”
“I wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Hoseok looks to Yoongi seeing him grin his gummy smile, silently clapping his hands.
“Alright, who’s ready for the park?” Yoongi says, lifting their lunch pack.
“Me!”
Yoongi laughs as he watches them run to the garage. Setting down his coffee, he lifts the bag full of their stuff and follows, smiling as he thinks about the little box in his bedside table drawer, under a scarf and a book.
Yeah, they're definitely doing better than okay.
