Chapter Text

“I will kill anything and everything for you.”

Kunlun looks at the declaration of the young ghost king beside him and laughs. “You really are feral, aren’t you?”

“Why do you laugh?” the youngster asks confusedly. “I am serious.”

If anything, this seemed to amuse the god even more. “You know what they say about the ghost tribe?” He leans to the unblinking ghost king and knocks their forehead together lightly. “The more beautiful they are, the more terrifying they are.”

“And am I?” he asks curiously.

Kunlun grins. “Extremely so.”

The black cloaked youth grasps the other’s hand tightly and frowns. “But I don’t want you to be terrified of me.”

A bark of laughter from the only remaining primordial god slices through the serenity of the mountain. “Me? Terrified of you? Perish the thought, you puny thing. I meant that you are beautiful. Maybe a small beauty now but I’m sure you’ll be a great beauty in the future.”

“But you said that for the ghost tribe, beauty and terrifying are synonymous.”

“Why,” Kunlun returns the tight hold on his hand gently, “Should I be scared of you?”

“No!” the ghost king vehemently shakes his head. And then in a milder yet firmer voice, he reiterates “Never.”

Satisfied with the turn of the conversation, Kunlun leans back to the trunk of the large tree. The odd ghost follows his actions in order to ensure that their hands don’t disconnect. For a few moments, comfortable silence prevailed  between them. A breeze of the wind passed through making the younger one’s hair flow with it wildly.

“Hey, turn a bit to your side,” called Kunlun.

Unsure why he’s being asked to do so but not unwilling to do anything the other asks, he moves as instructed. Long, soft fingers brushed through his wild locks and he sneaked a glance at his companion. There was a hint of concentration in the god’s face as he tied and twirled his hair. And then he met his eyes and the younger hurriedly looked back at his palms shyly.

“I’m no expert,” Kunlun says in a reminiscent tone, “It was Nuwa who always fixed my hair. But eh, I think this would do. You have a pretty face anyway so I doubt anyone’s going to be focusing on your hair. There you go.”

The young ghost raised his hand to feel his new hair style and tilted his head when he felt some consistent bumps on the sides of his half ponytail.

“It’s called a braid,” Kunlun answers his unasked question, “I used to have something similar on my hair too but it’s hard to do it to yourself.”

“I will do it for you,” he immediately says and turns to face the older one.

“Nah, that’s fine. I won’t be able to maintain it anyway.”

“Then I will do it for you everyday and every time you’re going to need me to,” he insists.

Instead of responding to that, Kunlun looks at him straight in the eye with a rare serious expression. “I don’t really get you. You turn your back on your nature as a ghost and you’re always with me. What is it that you truly want, Xiao Wei?”

Hearing his name from the one who gave it to him fills his cold, undead body warmth. And so he replies with the simplest truth.

“You.”

(Five thousand years and more in the future, this scene will be revisited by the ghost king and his god. Although perhaps it might not be as innocent as it once was - courtesy of Zhao Yunlan to no one’s surprise. To say that Zhao Yunlan was thirsty for Shen Wei with his long hair is half false. He is thirsty for everything Shen Wei related, like Shen Wei was his oasis in his desert life. Shen Wei can have his cleanly combed hair as the famous Professor Shen or his ruffled hair when he was pounding on Zhao Yunlan as if he was some crazed beast or his long hair as the ghost king – point was that any hair style of Shen Wei was enough to make him horny.

When he recalls quiet memories as Kunlun traveling around for hundreds of years with the young long-haired ghost king, he’s torn between being soft (“My little beauty has really grown into a great beauty now ahh~ I’m so lucky~” “Ah-Lan! You –” “Aww, is my baby getting shy? You certainly weren’t when you fucked me on the wall last night.” “Ah-Lan!”) and being well…as he said before…horny (“Okay but consider everything we can do if we do it with your long hair.” “No.” “Babyyyy c’mon.” “No.” “You can suck me off and I can grip your hair from the roots to the ends of its tips.” “…” “Ah…Ah! Xiao Wei! Where are you taking me?!”)
