There they were, walking around the empty school halls talking quietly when they heard a nearby door open. Startled, Kaminari and Sero quickly stuck their bodies against a wall so that they were not seen. They slowly looked past the wall they were on to see who had opened a door, and to their surprise, it was Bakugou, walking out of a closet, and right behind him, was Kirishima.
Kaminari‘s eyes went wide, and he turned to look at Sero.
“What,” Sero paused, “the fuck?” Sero was now staring at the floor.
Kaminari looked around, “Do you think they were...?” Kaminari trailed on, not wanting to completely voice his thoughts.
“Kami, man! Fucking gross!” Sero exclaimed with a horrified look on his face.
“Just saying,” Kami mumbled.
Sero sighed, “Well even if they were doing that, we can’t tell anyone we saw them walk out of the same closet. Especially during class.” Sero warned both himself and Kaminari, eyes shut while nodding his head.
“Yes, right, exactly!” Kaminari agreed. They were now slumped on the floor against the wall, facing each other.
A few seconds of silence passed.
Kaminari pursed his lips, “So you wanna go tell Mina?” Kaminari asked.
“Yeah sounds good,” Sero replied with no hesitation as he stood up.
——-
“So you’re saying that Bakugou walked out of a closet, and Kirishima walked out right behind him?” Mina asked.
“Yes, Mina! For the hundredth time, yes!” Kaminari answered exasperatedly.
“And this isn’t some ‘ Bakugou and Kirishima are gay ’ joke again?” Mina asked, suspicion rising.
“No, Mina, it’s not!” Kaminari answered again.
“Well, they came out of the same closet so I don’t see why it can’t be a story and a gay joke...” Sero said, partly to himself.
“Sero! Shut the fuck up! ” Kaminari hissed at him.
“Sorry Kami, I just don’t believe a single fucking thing that you are saying,” Mina said with a sly smile.
“Listen, Mina, what if they are dating? Wouldn’t you want to know?” Kaminari asked desperately.
“Yes, Kami. Of course, I would want to know, but what if they aren’t dating? If you bring this up to them, no doubt Bakugou will have your head on a stick. I wouldn’t risk it.” Mina answered calmly.
“Come on! Sero, don’t you think we should ask them?” Kaminari whined, urgent to get someone on his side.
“No, not at all,” Sero says, not once looking away from his phone.
“See Mina! Even Sero thinks we should!” Kaminari paused, “Wait, what?” Kaminari asks with a confused face.
Sero looks up from his phone, “Seriously dude, leave it alone. If you bring it up to them, shit will end in flames — and I mean actual flames. Like fire; like Bakugou’s fire — and you’ll be in it, burning to death.” Sero replies, looking back down at his phone.
Kaminari deflates, feeling betrayed, “Fine, I won’t bring it up again.”
——
Kirishima sat next to Bakugou on one couch. Mina, Uraraka, Sero were on the other, and Kaminari was on the floor in front of Sero. Other members of the class were scattered on the floor or on beanbags.
“You okay there, Kaminari?” Uraraka asked him, concerned.
Don’t say it, don’t say it, don’t say it, Kaminari repeated to himself.
“Sero and I saw Kirishima and Bakugou walk out of a closet today while skipping class!” Kaminari exclaimed, slapping a hand over his mouth immediately after.
Mina facepalmed, and Sero quietly mumbled fuck this shit, and slid out of the room. The rest of the group gasped and looked at Kaminari.
Bakugou’s head snapped towards Kaminari, while Kirishima just sat next to him wide-eyed.
“No, you fucking didn’t,” Bakugou insisted while glaring at Kaminari.
Everyone ignored him and bombarded Kaminari with questions, which were all answered once Kaminari told them the story he once told Mina. By the end of it, Kirishima was struggling to hold Bakugou back from hurling at Kaminari.
“Guys, it’s nothing like you think, I swear!” Kirishima struggled to say, seeing as he was using all his power to keep Bakugou on the couch. “Nothing happened! Nothing like you think, at least!”
“Kirishima,” Todoroki started, causing everyone to face him, “how long have the two of you been dating?”
Bakugou’s death stares slowly directed their way towards Todoroki, and Kirishima’s face went cherry red.
“What? Dude, no! Bakugou is my best bro, we are not dating! We’ll never date, we aren’t like that!” Kirishima nervously laughed, face still red.
Bakugou glare left his face, and he turned to look at Kirishima, who was very obviously looking anywhere but at him, and then stood up.
“I’m going to bed,” Bakugou grumbled, sticking his hands in his pockets; everybody went quiet.
Kirishima watched him walk off, confusion rising.
“Guys, maybe we should all just go to bed early,” Mina suggested.
Everyone quietly nodded, a few mumbling goodnights to each other.
——
The next morning, Kirishima walked over to Bakugou’s room and knocked on the door.
“Are you ready to walk to class man?” He asked through the door, but to no avail, seeing as he got no answer.
He waited a few minutes, then gave the door a look of confusion. He walked to class alone, and Bakugou was already in his seat when Kirishima got to class. This went on for a few days. That, and the obvious avoidance of Bakugou.
Kirishima had no clue what he did wrong, but Mina did apparently. In fact, she was yelling at him right now. Kirishima had gone to her for advice, and the first thing she did was take a deep breath in, and yell at him for being a fucking idiot.
“Okay, listen I don’t think I’m that dumb,” he tried to reason with her.
“Why would you say that you’d never date Bakugou?” She yelled out, hands in the air.
“Cause I wouldn’t!” He yelled back.
She squeezed her eyes shut, sighed, then said, “Kirishima, what’s one thing you like about Bakugou?”
“What?” Kirishima shook his head and sighed, “Well, he’s super strong and never gives up,” Kirishima says with a smile on his face.
“Okay,“ Mina starts only to be cut off by Kirishima.
“Also, his eyes. It’s like they are the perfect shade of red. He gets this twinkle in them too, when he does something he loves, or even talks about something he admires. He’s kind, too, and he doesn’t realize it. His hair is amazing, it’s surprisingly soft and fluffy! He’s also the perfect person to cuddle. I just adore him! I love being his best bro!” Kirishima finished, satisfied with his response.
“Kiri, I said one thing,” Mina reminded him, “wait did you say cuddle?” she asks after cutting off her first thought.
“Yeah, of course! He lets me lay on him while watching movies and even plays with my hair!” Kirishima says, a big smile on his face.
“Kirishima! Best bros don’t cuddle like that!” She says, hands in her hair.
Kirishima shot her yet another confused look, Mina sighed.
“Hon, do you ever think about being more than just best bros ?” she asks, air quoting with her fingers as she says best bros.
“Well, sometimes sure, but everyone does that. It’s normal to just imagine kissing and stuff,” he explains, getting defensive as he crosses his arms over his chest.
“No, they don’t!” she rubs her forehead, sitting down on her bed next to Kirishima, “Idiot, don't you think that’s more of a crush ?”
Kirishima opens his mouth to argue, but then it hits him. That is a crush. He has a crush on Bakugou!
“I have a crush on Bakugou!” He yells excitedly.
“Finally,” Mina mumbles to herself.
“I’m going to tell him!” Kirishima declares, his eyes sparkling.
Mina shoots him a thumbs up, knowing he’ll be back in her room within three seconds.
He walks back in and sits on the end of Mina’s bed.
Kirishima sighed. “What if he hates me already?” He whispers while looking at her with sad eyes, “What if he doesn’t feel the same?”
“I honestly doubt he hates you,” She says sincerely, smiling and patting him on the back reassuringly, “and Kiri, anyone with two eyes can see how much he likes you.”
Kirishima smiles back at Mina and stands up.
I’m going to tell Bakugou how I feel, he thinks to himself.
Until he reached Bakugou’s door and stood there for seven minutes, that is. Every few seconds he would raise his fist to knock, but can never bring himself to actually do so.
What if Mina isn’t right? He thinks, what if Bakugou actually does hate me, and he finally decided to get rid of me? There’s no way someone as amazing as Bakugou would ever like someone like me. I’m in over my-
“Shitty hair? What the fuck are you doing?” Bakugou asked, unknowingly interrupting his thoughts.
“Oh, hey Bakugou! I came here to talk to you?” he says nervously, not sure if he was actually going to be able to talk to him.
“Then why are you just standing there?” Bakugou says, crossing his arms.
“I was about to knock!” He yells, defending himself.
“Whatever,” Bakugou mumbles walking around him to open his door. “Come in.”
“Yeah! Yeah, okay.” Kirishima exclaims, trying to give himself just a little bit of courage.
Bakugou sits on his bed, and Kirishima is standing near the door.
“So? What is it?” Bakugou asks, his patience thinning.
“Well, I just talked with Mina a little bit ago...and she says that maybe you feel something for me,” Kirishima admits, fiddling with his hands.
“Nope,” Bakugou says, not giving him a chance to say anything more.
“What?” Kirishima asks, his heart dropping.
“I don’t feel anything like that for you,” Bakugou restates, avoiding Kirishima’s eyes.
“Oh,” Kirishima whispers, before realizing he sounds disappointed. “Oh! Okay, yeah! Everything’s cleared up then! I’ll see you later!”
Kirishima darts out of Bakugou’s room before anything else can be said, and goes over to his own room, locking his door behind him.
He curls up on his bed, his knees pulled up to his chest as he begins to quietly cry, making sure that no one can hear him.
Of course he doesn’t like me like that, what was I thinking?
He cries for a while, then eventually falls asleep. When he wakes up, he sees that his phone has buzzed several times, but since he was asleep and didn’t see any of the texts.
6:43 P.M.
Bakugou
Come back to my room shitty hair.
7:11 P.M.
Bakugou
Are you coming?
7:27 P.M.
Bakugou
Why is your door locked?
7:48 P.M.
Bakugou
I’m waiting outside your door. Come out here when you’re ready.
Kirishima quickly checked the time; 2:33 A.M.
Kirishima doubted he was still out there, he seriously doubted it, but out of pure hope, he got out of his bed and went to check. When he opened his door, there was a sleeping Bakugou; and Kirishima honestly didn’t know why he would sit here, for hours on end, just because Kirishima threw a hissy fit and stormed out of his room.
“Bakugou, come here, get up,” Kirishima whispered while shaking the sleeping blond.
Bakugou didn’t reply, he only sleepily hummed and moved slightly.
Kirishima smiled fondly, thinking about how damn cute Bakugou looked right now, and put Bakugou’s arm around his neck, starting to walk towards Bakugou’s room.
“No, stop, I wanna sleep in your room,” Bakugou slurred.
Kirishima’s face went red, and he stopped walking. Then without question, he turned around and walked to his room.
He put Bakugou in his bed and then started to lay on the floor.
“What are you doing?” Bakugou mumbled.
“Oh, I’m sleeping on the floor so you can sleep in the bed,” Kirishima answered.
“I want to sleep with you. Get up here or I’ll blast you to bits,” Bakugou joked with a serious tone.
Kirishima, once again without question, climbed into bed with him, and Bakugou instantly latched onto his chest.
“You know I was lying earlier right?” Bakugou asked quietly.
“What are you talking about?” Kirishima slowly put his hands on Bakugou’s back.
“Kirishima, you dumbass, I’m in love with you,” Bakugou answered. “I thought you knew, cause’ back in the closet, when you were about to kiss me,” Bakugou hesitated, his voice getting quieter, “I thought you felt the same,” He slightly backed up from Kirishima.
“I do, Bakugou, I do. I just,” Kirishima tried to think about how to say this, “didn’t really know that I did at the time” Kirishima answered, pulling Bakugou closer to him.
“How do you not,” Bakugou shook his head and laughed, “you know what, never mind. Leave it to you not to know if you like somebody.”
Kirishima laughed, “Come here.”
Bakugou got even closer to him, and Kirishima wrapped his arms tightly around him.
“So, does this make us boyfriends?” Kirishima worriedly asked.
“It makes us whatever you want us to be, as long as you’re happy. Now go to sleep,” Bakugou mumbled, hiding his red face in Kirishima’s chest.
Kirishima smiled, Boyfriends.
Bakugou Katsuki is my boyfriend.
Bonus: What Happened In The Closet
Bakugou had said that Kirishima was too scared to ever skip class, and Kirishima decided to prove him wrong, and so, they were currently skipping class together.
Which was a mistake.
They were walking aimlessly in the halls of the school, classes were in session. Then, they heard the clanking of heels and keys jingling, which made them both quickly look at each other with wide eyes and rush to find somewhere to hide.
“Bakugou! I found a closet!” Kirishima whisper-yelled.
They both ran into the closet, the very small closet, turning on the light and sitting on the ground, both panting and slightly sweating. Their bodies were smushed up against each other, and they both sat facing forward, their eyes on the door.
A few seconds later, Bakugou burst out laughing, making Kirishima turn his head and look at him, mouth slightly agape.
He’s....beautiful.
After that thought, a blush quickly appeared on his face. Then, Bakugou stopped laughing and turned to look at Kirishima, who was oddly quiet.
It was then that Kirishima realized their faces were mere inches apart. His eyes darted down to the blond’s lips, and he slowly started to lean in, not even thinking about it for a second, and to be fair, Bakugou was leaning in too.
Though unfortunately, Kirishima’s foot hit a mop, which fell over and hit a bucket. That bucket landed right on top of his head, and there was cold water in the bucket.
Bakugou burst with laughter once again as Kirishima removed the bucket from his head.
“Yeah, yeah. Very funny,” Kirishima says as he pushes Bakugou lightly.
Bakugou’s back hit an unstable shelf, and an open container of soap fell off the top, spilling all over Bakugou.
It was then Kirishima’s turn to laugh.
“Fucking Christ,” Bakugou sneered as he stood, “Let’s fucking go, we’re both messes.”
Kirishima giggled as he followed him out of the closet, completely forgetting that he almost kissed his best friend in a dimly lit closet.
