Work Text:

“You’re doing it again.” Yoongi looked up towards Namjoon, his eyebrow cocked in a sort of tired amusement.

“Doing what?” Namjoon;s eyes grew wider as he tried to look as innocent as possible.

“Clock watching.” Jin replies, without even looking up from the paper in his hands.

“I am not.” They both snort simultaneously, shaking their heads.

Namjoon would almost be scared of the couples synchronicity if he wasn’t so used to it, sticking his tongue out at the both of them in a eloquent response.

He didn’t mean to clock watch, but he also knew at exactly 10:59 a certain person would enter this building. At 11:00 he would move towards the reception, therefore if Namjoon managed to be there at exactly 11:01 he would hand the paperwork to him, rather than whatever bored receptionist happened to be on duty at the main desk.

His foot tapped on the floor as he looked around their small office, legal files strewn across every visible surface as they multi tasked on one too many things.

“3…” Jin starts, swinging in his chair to quell the boredom, as he looks directly at Namjoon.

“... 2.” Yoongi continued, his eyes looking up in a tired fashion.

“... 1.” They both finished in unison as Namjoon jumped from his chair and ran towards the door in front of him.

“Screw you guys!” He cried as he speed walked through the office in an attempt to not draw any more attention to himself than his cry already had.

He pounds down the stairs, his heart rate escalating as he pulls through the big security pass door in front of him.

“Jimin!” He cries in a voice he prays doesn’t give away how breathless he actually was.

The man turns around at his name, and Namjoon is convinced the entire world stops as he flashes a beaming smile his way.

“Namjoon-ssi!” He waves excitedly as he moves away from the desk and over towards him. His smile brightened as he neared the taller man, oblivious to the way he had frozen in place.

Namjoon likes to consider himself a sensible man, he rides his bike to work so he can bring his carbon footprint down as much as possible. He never over drinks when he goes out with his friends, he always walks that right line of sober. He feeds his dog as much as he should, even if Yoongi constantly frets that he hasn’t. He flew through schooling, skipping years until he finally landed in class with the Kim Seokjin. He probably could have skipped another year but he was comfortable with the elder, they took each other under their respective wings and they passed their exams together. Yoongi, Jin’s long time boyfriend and soulmate following a year later.

They all managed to find employment at the same firm, Jin and Namjoon within months of each other. The two of them putting in multiple good words for Yoongi until he was hired alongside them when he graduated. They worked hard to obtain a three person office, their conversations now thankfully undisturbed by their colleagues around them.

That is with the exception of the companies resident communications expert, Taehyung - who had taken to draping himself across their desks most days waxing poetry for his dance teacher boyfriend, Hoseok.

You see Namjoon was sensible, a little clumsy maybe, but sensible.

He knew his mouth should be moving, he knew words should be coming out, but he wasn’t able to make a sound as he stared at the blonde man in front of him.

The newly blonde man.

The newly blonde angel that stood in front of him.

“Mr. Kim?” He giggled, waving a hand in front of his face. “Namjoon-ssi… Joon-ssi?”

Joon opened his mouth as if to say something, but instead a soft sigh left his lips.

“Joonie?” Jimin giggled, his hand getting closer to his face.

Namjoon startled out of his panic at the nickname, shaking his head softly.

“Jimin-ssi! I…”

“Sorry, did the nickname bother you?” His forehead creased in concern. “You just weren’t answering and-,”

Namjoon cut him off before he could tumble more into his self-doubt. “No!” He almost shouted, watching the receptionist turn her head towards the two of them in bored confusion. “No.” He spoke quieter, attempting to ignore the slight crack he heard in his voice.

He coughed loudly in an attempt to cover the crack, watching the small smile form across the others face as Jimin caught it. “I erm, just… you dyed your hair.” He motions upwards, the usual dark black hair now replaced by a golden halo.

“Oh!” His nose crinkles and his smile widens. Namjoon swears he could punch a hole in a wall from the cuteness alone.

“Yeah, I have this dance thing coming up and I just felt like doing something different.”

“Dance thing?”

Jimin holds Namjoon’s parcel closer to his chest, his body rocking backwards and forwards on his heels, excitement pouring off him in waves. “I’m in dance school.” He nods excitedly. “Well, I’m about to graduate dance school. I’m having my final showcase soon.” He smiles.

“Oh.” Namjoon tries and fails not to sound completely awed.

“Yep! I’m not just a pretty delivery boy.” Jimin grins once more as he hands over Namjoon's parcel.

“Not that there’s anything wrong with being a pretty delivery boy.” Namjoon parrots back, signing the form as it’s handed to him.

“Oh, so you think I’m pretty?” Jimin cocks his head to the side, a cocky smile falling across his features.

“I…”

Jimin waves him off giggling before he could answer. “Nice pen by the way.” He smiled fondly.

Namjoon looks downwards and instantly flushes red, looking up to see Jimin turning away from him. The bright pink of the pen in his hand clashing against the formality and structured form of his black suit. The Ryan Bear at the end holding a love heart certainly not helping.

Namjoon was about to respond but by the time he gathered his bearings and forced his voice to cooperate, Jimin was gone. The only reminder of him being in the foyer the parcel in his hands.

Namjoon couldn't help wondering if the Ryan socks he was sporting would make Jimin cringe or coo.

“Joonie! There you are.” Taehyung rolled his eyes as he walked through the door. His shoes already kicked off somewhere in the room as he draped himself across his and Jin’s desks. “Would you please tell the Hyungs they need to start being nicer to me.”

“Start being nicer to Taehyung.” He parrots, barely looking up from the paperwork in his hands as he sorts out who needs what, handing a stack of papers to Jin as he sits.

“Can you say it with conviction please?”

“Maybe if you got your feet off my desk.” Taehyung rolled his eyes again, moving his feet onto Yoongi’s desk instead.

Yoongi let out a cry of ‘ hey ’ which they promptly all ignored.

“What are they doing to you?” Namjoon looks at the younger, taking his hands in his. “Tell hyung all about it.”

Taehyung sighs gratefully, his head drooping below his shoulder as it shakes. The whole moment was so dramatic Namjoon didn’t know whether to call the Korean Drama Awards.

“Hoseok’s class is finally holding their summer showcase and I want my friends to come support my future husband.”

“Hobi proposed?” Jin jumped up from his seat, hand against his mouth. "We have so much planning-,"

Taehyung swatted his hand at Jin. “No, but have you looked at me, he’s going to.”

“Oh.” Jin sits down dejectedly, Yoongi cackling at his others half's premature excitement.

Anyway .” Taehyung raises his eyebrows at Joon, clearly directed towards his two other hyungs. “I want my best work friends to support him, and me by extension, because I’m really proud of him.”

“Work friends?” Yoongi and Jin look at him at the same time.

“That’s really sweet Taehyung.” Joon ruffles his hair as he turns back to his desk. “We’ll be there.”

“Wait no, I didn’t agree to this!” Yoongi looks up in horror at Jin.

Work friends?!” Jin still looking in horror at Taehyung.

“Thanks Joon.” He leans forward to hug him before finding his shoes in some unknown place and skipping out of the room.

“Jin we’re not-,” Yoongi starts before he’s cut off by Jin. “- Work friends ?”

Tae pops his head back in seconds later, looking at Jin as if butter wouldn’t melt, his eyes wide and endearing. “You know you guys are my best friends.” He blows a kiss to Jin before leaving the room. Jin catching it in his hand with a soft smile on his face for his dongsaeng, already forgiving him.

“I’m not going.” Yoongi says into the silence of the office five minutes later.

“You’re going.” The other two answer in unison.

“So how much do we even know about this ‘Jimin’?” Yoongi throws down his pen at about 3:30 that afternoon, the lunch high worn off and the afternoon drowsiness setting in.

“We know enough to know that he’s well out of my league.”

“Have you even looked in the mirror lately Joonie?” Jin looked at him with a head cocked to the side.

Namjoon shrugs, “Just because I’m not ugly, or whatever, doesn’t mean I’m in his league.”

Jin snorted. “If I weren’t practically married to this one, I’d date you.” He pointed at Yoongi who nodded his head.

“Same.”

“While I appreciate the confidence boost that doesn’t really mean much when Jimin is the most attractive human I’ve ever seen.”

Jin made an indignant sound, standing up from his seat.

“You woke the beast.” Yoongi flops forward, his head falling onto his arms on the desk.

“Have you seen my face?”

“Yes, it’s a very nice face hyung.” Joon tries his best to bring the conversation back around.

"No. Have you looked at it lately?"

"I said it's a very nice face hyung."

“It’s more than a 'nice face' Joon." He pulled up finger quotes around the words. "My lips? Luscious. My eyes? Wide and alluring. My hair? Soft and voluminous. My cheeks? The perfect balance of chiselled and squeezable. My nose? Adorable, boopable, you might say. My shoulders …”

“Hyung you are the most handsome man I’ve ever seen. Jimin is just up there with you.”

Jin stops, mulling over Namjoon’s interruption and after a moment nods, satisfied. “As long as we’re all in agreement that I’m the most handsome man to exist, we’re good.” He nods again as if confirming his own statement, sitting back at his desk.

“I think you should just ask him out, what’s the worst that could happen?” Yoongi shrugs.

“He says no.”

“And…? I’ll go collect the mail, or, you know, we'll let the receptionist do their jobs downstairs and collect it - and hey presto! You never have to see him again in your life.”

“But then I can’t imagine us growing old together and raising a litre of puppies.” Joon can hear the whining sound leaving him before he collapses forward onto the desk. “He saw my Ryan Bear pen.”

Jin throws his head back laughing. “See, he already knows you’re part baby boy, that’s the first step.”

“At least he didn’t see your Ryan socks.” Yoongi commiserates, a hand patting his arm.

Jin and Yoongi spun in their chairs as they read the documents in front of them the next day, Jin’s tongue sticking out of his mouth in concentration in a way that would mortify him if he were aware.

Namjoon was trying his best to ignore the clock on the wall but he was failing miserably, his eyes tracking the seconds as they tick by.

“You may as well just go wait downstairs in the foyer.” Yoongi rolled his eyes.

“And deprive me of my daily Namjoon panic show, how could you Yoongi?” Jin looks up in despair.

Namjoon barely even bothers to reply, jumping up the second the clock hits the hour, rushing forward to the door. He tries his best to ignore the cackling behind him, but throws his middle finger in the air as the door shuts behind him, only causing the laughter to become louder.

Namjoon hears Taehyung calling for him somewhere in the office but he ignores it, his feet taking the stairs two at a time as he rushes out into the foyer.

“Jimin!” He cries, waving excitedly.

“You made it.” He sighs happily. “I thought I was going to have to speak to one of the receptionists.” He fake shudders, smiling.

“I’d never put you through such a fate.” Namjoon takes the packages, his heart stopping as he glances at the Ryan sticker plain to see next to his name. His eyes slide upward to the blonde who only smiles.

“I may or may not have stopped off in a KaKao Friends store on the way home last night.” He scratches the back of his neck.

“Does that mean my cringe inducing pen choices haven’t put you off speaking to me yet?”

“If anything it's made you more endearing.” Jimin pauses, staring at him for a long moment. “Although I am wondering just how many Ryan products you have now.” He raises a brow smiling.

“Way more than a grown man should have.” He can feel the self deprecating laugh bubble up before he can stop it. “But, also, I haven’t got these stickers yet and now I’m feeling like I need to go shopping.”

“There were new in, they had new bears too.” Jimin whispers, winking.

Namjoon makes a gasp of horror. “I didn’t even get my 'new stock' notification email.”

Jimin throws his head back in laughter before falling forward, his arms coming out to steady himself on Namjoon’s hips.

“I’m sorry.” He wipes his eyes as he pulls himself back up. “I’m a full body laugher.”

“It’s okay, it was cute.” like everything about you.

“So is this what lawyers spend their money on, Ryan bears?”

“The sensible ones at least, you’ll be happy to know I still find money to live alone and feed my dog.”

Jimin gasps. “You have a puppy ?” He squeals, his hands coming together and clapping in excitement. “Let me  see !”

Namjoon fishes his phone out of his pocket with some difficulty given the files are still in his hand before scrolling through his photos. He attempts not to let Jimin see all the photos he has saved of various screenshots of products from the KaKao online store.

He finds the cutest picture he could of the little ball of white fluff he calls his own, holding the phone for Jimin to take. "This is Moni, he's a nightmare, but he's adorable."

“Oh my God, I wanna cuddle him, then steal him from you.” He cooed at the screen, his lips forming the most adorable pout Namjoon’s think he’s ever seen.

“He’d probably thank you, I don’t think he likes me very much.” Jimin looks up towards him, his eyes formed into crescents as he smiles at the other man.

“How could anyone not like you?” He tilts his head to the side.

“He doesn’t listen to any of my commands, not one. As soon as my hyungs try he'll follow all of their commands without fail - but each time I give him one he literally just stares at me.” He can feel his face becoming red slightly with annoyance, his jaw becoming tighter.

Jimin only giggles at him, shaking his head. “Maybe you’re too hard on him.”

“Maybe he should just listen to me for once.” Namjoon pouts across at the shorter man.

Jimin hands him back the phone as he giggles, holding out the slip for Namjoon to sign. The Ryan Bear pen Joon brings out only making his smile grows wider. “Cute.” He whispers to himself more than anyone, but Joon can’t help the way his ears turn pink as he picks up on it.

Jimin waves sweetly at him, asking him to give Moni a million cuddles from him, his feet gliding across the floor of the reception with the grace only a dancer can possess.

“Still whipped?” Jin looks up from his screen as Namjoon enters, a smile across his features.

“Still whipped.” Namjoon doesn’t even bother to fake otherwise as he throws them their parcels. “He asked about Moni, I think he fell in love with him.”

“Moni is a very good selling point.”

“Half the reason I fell in love with Yoongi is because of Holly.” Jin nods.

“I don’t know if I should be offended by that.”

Jin winks across at his boyfriend, smiling.

“So, what did you talk about?”

Namjoon only shrugs, “He told me he went to the Ryan store after work and then he asked me about Moni.”

“Did you ask him out yet?” Yoongi raises a brow.

“Not gonna happen.”

“If he went to the Ryan store he’s soft for you.” Jin peers over at him.

“Or he saw my pen, thought it was cute and went to go get his own version.”

“Oh my God, he’s so confident then he over thinks himself back into insecurity.” Yoongi bangs his head against his desk.

Jin sighs dejectedly, turning back to his desk picking up the parcel.

“Joon…?”

“Yep?”

“Why is my mail covered in Ryan stickers?"

“Oh well you see Jimin thought it’d be cute and…”

He trails off at a groaning sound from Yoongi.

“They’re both as whipped as each other.”

Jin walked over with the parcel in hand, not saying a word until he hits Namjoon very hard on the back of the head. “Ask him OUT.”

“What if he says no?” Namjoon cries as he flies forward in his seat trying to avoid another hit.

“He won’t say no.” They both say in unison, throwing their heads into their hands.

~*~

Namjoon stands downstairs at exactly 10:59, the incessant teasing from Jin and Yoongi too much to take today so he attempts to patiently wait downstairs instead.

“Namjoon-ssi?” Jimin giggles, walking over to the other man.

“Hi!” Namjoon tries and fails not to smile too over enthusiastically. “My office mates were annoying me so I thought I’d take a break.”

Jimin nods in sympathy. “I can only imagine.”

“They’re my best friends, but they’re overbearing hyungs to say the least.”

“Speaking of hyungs, I’m ‘95 line, which way round are we?”

“Ah, I’m your hyung.” Namjoon grins, taking the parcels from Jimin. “I’m ‘94.”

“Not too far apart then.” Jimin smiles softly.

“I wanted to say good luck at the dance thing tomorrow. I would say I’d come to support you but my friends asked me to go to a showcase this weekend as his boyfriends in it.”

“Oh that’s okay.” Jimin waves him off. “If you did I’d feel obligated to take you to the drinks after and I have a bottle of wine and a couch with my name on it.” He smiles softly.

“Not the best group to hang out with?” Namjoon tilts his head to the side in sympathy.

Jimin shrugs. “No, they’re lovely. I’m just going to be exhausted - I spent a lot of time in the studio preparing for this so I'm going to vegetate all Saturday evening and Sunday.” He smiles softly.

Namjoon nods in a way that only comes from spending far too much of his own life trapped in an office staring at the same four walls.

“You have a different Ryan pen today.” Jimin gasps, changing the subject and motioning towards Namjoon’s hands. “Cute.” He whispers as he stares at the yellow pen with the small bear at the end.

“Would it be super embarrassing to admit I have a whole collection in my pen pot upstairs?”

“Maybe, to some people. I think it’s adorable though.” Jimin smiles softly.

“You do?”

“Yeah, you’re all big and daunting to look at but you’re actually just a little softie.” He bites his lip, attempting to hide the smile that Namjoon wants to see so badly.

“I can be big and daunting if I chose to be.” Namjoon pouts.

“Really?”

Namjoon pauses for a minute before looking down. “... No, but people get confused because of my height and I sneak by.” He giggles.

“You really are adorable.” Jimin sighs softly, taking the slip from Namjoon as he hands it back. “It’s okay, I can protect you with my black belt.” He winks cockily.

“You have a black belt?” Namjoon didn’t even bother to hide the awe in his voice, he’s pretty sure his eyes have turned to hearts by now.

“I do.” He nods. “You can protect me with your height and I’ll protect you if things get dicey.”

“It’s a deal.” Namjoon laughs, holding his hand out to the younger.

They shake hands softly and the elder can feel his stomach flip, his heart picking up speed as he looks into the younger ones eyes.

Jimin let’s go first and Namjoon barely has time for his brain to catch up as he waves goodbye.

He walks into the office, lost in a daze, collapsing onto the desk in front of him, his arms spread out across the table as he buries his head into some long forgotten paperwork.

“I touched his hand.” He whines before stamping his feet on the ground.

“Did you ask him out yet?” Jin’s voice comes.

“No.”

Yoongi makes a dramatic sighing sound.

“Who are we talking about?” Taehyung’s voice enters the conversation and Namjoon finally looks up to see him stretched out across Jin’s desk, playing with his stapler.

“Joon’s lover boy.” Yoongi shrugs.

“He’s not my lover boy.”

“He is.” Jin whispers.

“He’s just so freaking pretty.” Joon whines, turning back towards his own desk. “And nice, and funny, and adorable, and I really like him.”

“Ask. Him. Out.” Jin throws a handful of treasury tags at him.

“So, who is he?” Tae looks around in confusion.

“Our delivery guy for the Lee, Kim and Hyong cases.” Yoongi fills him in at his look of confusion.

“He’s just so pretty.” Namjoon mumbles, ignoring Yoongi.

“Also known as the man Joon is desperately in love with.”

“So tell me more.” Taehyung shrugs, making himself more comfortable on Jin’s desk, his feet resting on the other desks in front of him.

Joon spins in his chair, his hands coming up to his chest. “First, his eyes…”

“You caused this Taehyung.” Yoongi grumbles, looking back at his computer, preparing to ignore the pair.

“My case file is covered in stickers again.” Jin mumbles as he picks up the package in front of him.

Taehyung and Namjoon remain oblivious to the noise around them as Joon intricately maps out Jimin's personality.

~*~

“You came!” Taehyung breathes a grateful breath of air out as he wraps Namjoon and the others in a tight embrace.

“We told you we would.” Yoongi shrugs, as if it was all his idea from the beginning.

“Of course we’re going to support Hobi.” Joon says as he spots the man in question, welcoming him with a hug.

Hoseok looked nervous as he greets them, his usual sunshine smile not quite reaching his eyes. He glances around the room nervously, mapping at the turn out with his eyes before hugging Tae tightly goodbye and waving to the others as he rushes towards the back stage area.

“He has to do his big ‘go out there and break a leg’ speech.” Taehyung tilted his head to the side as he watched his boyfriends retreating back. “Gets him nervous every time.”

Eventually they all move towards their seats as the light dim, Jin and Yoongi squished together as Joon sits on the aisle.

Namjoon watches as the various dancers come onto the stage - he knew so little about dancing that he could only nod and applause as he saw something truly impressive, or Jin nudged him in his side.

Three performances from the end he watched as a golden haired figure entered the centre of the stage and all the air left his lungs. Jimin stood at the centre of the stage, his posture that of someone who knew exactly what they were doing and was about to blow everyone away.

“Ji-,” He whispered, cutting himself off when he took the first step forward.

Namjoon watched enthralled as Jimin spun into the second position, his body writhing and thriving in ways the elder could only have ever imagine. Namjoon’s eyes didn’t leave his silhouette from the graceful way he stretched his arm as he moved, to the elegant point he created with his toes.

Namjoon gasped as he somehow managed to defy gravity with his movements, his body crashing to the floor and levitating into the air in ways he still wasn't sure were physically possible.

“He’s good.” He hears Yoongi mutter to Jin at one point. Taehyung humming in agreement.

Namjoon wanted to disagree, Jimin wasn’t just good, he was otherworldly, his talent putting all others in the showcase to shame. Namjoon held his breath as he dropped to the floor again in one swift movement, his body folding backwards in on itself.

The classical music slowly came to a stop as Jimin took his final position bowing politely to the audience before disappearing into the darkness of the backstage area.

Namjoon attempted to not over think his decision as he stood up from his seat.

“Joon?!” Jin whispered in horror as Namjoon made his way out of the hall.

“Hyung?” He heard Taehyung mumble in confusion, his eyes on his back.

Namjoon slipped outside as quietly as he could, the door closing behind him being masked by the start of the next performer. He wasn’t exactly sure where his legs would take him, but he knew one thing, he needed Jimin to know just how much his performance moved him, and he needed to do it now.

He found himself practically sprinting down the street until he found a quiet supermarket, the owner waving him in from outside as he walked around the aisles. Eventually he stumbled upon the flower section, the lack lustre bouquets not exactly inspiring the biggest boost of confidence.

Namjoon sighed lightly, picking up the most elegant arrangement he could find, or at least the ones that had the least wilted roses. He quickly moved to the register, buying them hurriedly, ignoring the shop-keepers sympathetic looks. He imagined he probably looked like the boyfriend who forgot the anniversary at the last minute.

He didn’t want to entertain the part of his mind that wondered if maybe this could be an anniversary date, if fate served him well.

He ran back to the dance hall as fast as his legs would carry him, skidding to a halt at the door. By some chance he looked quickly to his side before opening the door in front of him, catching a glimpse of a small blonde figure walking in the opposite direction.

“Jimin?” He called out in trepidation in case it wasn't him, breathing a sigh of relief as he watched the figure halt in confusion, turning around slowly.

Namjoon instantly took off again at lightning speed, sliding to a stop in front of Jimin. The younger ones arms reaching out instantly to brace his forearms, bringing Namjoon to a safe stop, looking towards him in concern.

“Namjoon hyung?” His eyes skirted over his formal attire, before dropping down to his own sweatpants and pull over hooded jumper, pulling his arms across his chest awkwardly. “What are you doing here?”

“Showcase.” He panted, motioning behind him. “I watched.”

“You came to watch the showcase?”

Namjoon nodded, shaking his head as oxygen started to flow through him once more.

“You were great.”

Jimin flushed, his head dropping down as the praise sunk in.

“You were more than great.” Namjoon continued. “Truly best of the night, I couldn't take my eyes off you.” He watched Jimin swat a hand in the air as if to get him to stop but Namjoon had a gut feeling the younger didn't want him to stop at all.

“The way you moved was out of this world and I don’t know how someone so talented and beautiful can deliver my stupid mail.”

“You’re ethereal, Jimin.” Namjoon whispered the last words, watching Jimin’s hand come out to swat his bicep softly, giggling at the attention.

“Stop it.” He whispered.

“I definitely won’t.”

Jimin looked up at him, a small secretive smile on his face. “Please don’t.” He mouthed, barely audible. The quietness of his words conveying a much bigger meaning.

“I got these for you.” He awkwardly produces the bouquet, his hands attempting not to drop them.

“You bought me flowers?”

Namjoon nodded.

Jimin brought his hand to his heart as he took them from him, his eyes growing softer.

That was the moment Namjoon's mind decided to over think. Realising exactly where he was and what he was doing - his eyes sprang wide. “Oh, oh God… I just… spontaneously did this…  if there’s some big beefy boyfriend you’re about to go home to that’ll eat my ass alive - I’m sorry. And even if there’s not, I don’t even know if you’re interested in me in the way and I…” He trailed off. “Oh shit, this was such a bad idea.”

Namjoon’s hand hit his forehead before he could stop it, his body cringing with embarrassment. Jimin’s hand reached out, encircling his wrist.

“Of course you have a boyfriend.” His mind already made up on the entire scenario. “You know let me take these back and I’ll…” His brain suddenly staring at a whole new realm of reasons this was a terrible idea.

“Oh crap, what if you’re not even into guys? Did I just make an absolute fool out of myself?”

Jimin giggled as he pulled his hand away from his forehead, a small smile across his features. Shh-ing him into silence sweetly.

“Please don’t take my flowers back?” He held them in front of him before bringing them closer to his chest. “No one ever buys me flowers.” He whispers.

“Oh.” Namjoon could hear the disbelief in his voice as he looked at the younger man in front of him. “I…”

Jimin cuts him off with a tilt of his head and another beaming smile. “Thank you for my flowers Hyung. They’re beautiful.” He buries his nose in them, his eyes closing.

“They’re only from the supermarket, I just…” Jimin looks up towards him and he trails off.

“It doesn’t matter where they're from, you bought them for me, so they’re special.”

“I saw you dance, and I just really wanted to convey how much your performance meant to me, how amazing you were.” He sighs. “I’m sorry, I keep rambling.”

“Please stop worrying, it's really cute.” Jimin smiles over the top of his flowers.

Namjoon breathes out a sigh of relief, his head nodding in part embarrassment and relief.

“I don’t have a boyfriend, by the way.” Jimin looks at him pointedly. “I spend so much time in the dance studio and working I don’t have time to meet people outside of Hobi - the head of the dance team.”

“That's why I was at the showcase!" Namjoon fills in the missing pieces for Jimin, who nods in understanding. "I know Hobi, he dates Taehyung - He's one of my best friends and I work with him."

That’s where Taehyung works? He makes it sound like he works in a big spy agency.” He rolls his eyes fondly.

“Taehyung works in comms.” Joon laughs before he can help himself, not putting it past Taehyung to pretend they work in Area 51 somehow. “He likes to make us sound a lot more interesting than we are.”

“So basically what you’re saying is, if I’d have bothered getting my ass out of the studio and attending any one of the drinks Hobi invited me to I would have met you outside of my stupid delivery outfit?”

Namjoon scratches the back of his neck as he nods.

“Crap.” Jimin sighs. “I really could have pulled together something better than this.” He motions down at his outfit.

“I think you look cute in any outfit.” Jimin flushes at the praise, whispering a small thank you.

”So, just to be sure... there is no scary boyfriend coming for my blood right now?” Namjoon warily looks over his shoulder, partly in jest, but also semi serious.

“There is no scary boyfriend.” Jimin reiterates, smiling softly.

“And you are into guys?”

“I’m very much into guys, one guy in particular.”

“And... And I wouldn’t be reading the signals wrong if I thought that was maybe me?”

Jimin giggled this time, shaking his head in disbelief. “Joon, Hyung. Will you please take me to dinner?”

“Aren’t I supposed to be the one asking you that?”

“You were taking too long.” Jimin grabs one of Namjoon’s hands and pulled him towards a more awake part of Seoul, dropping it to hold the bouquet in both his hands, bringing it to his nose once more. “Plus, you bought me flowers, you’re already doing pretty good at this dating thing.” He buried his nose into them once more.

Namjoon swears his legs turn to jelly and his heart skipped a beat as Jimin said the word ‘dating’.

“I’m going to buy you so many flowers.” Namjoon murmurs without realising it, his eyes dreamily looking at the younger male.

A small smile blooms across Jimin’s face as he catches the words, a blush creeping onto his cheekbones.

“Somehow, I think you will.” His smile somehow brightens as he clutches the bouquet closer to his chest, his hand sliding perfectly into place as his fingers entwine with Namjoon’s.

Notes:

Joon buys him so many flowers you guys - so many.
