Chapter Text

“We have to take the next flight.” His mom says while scrolling through her phone for the next available one.

They have just missed their flight that his mother booked a few hours ago as soon as she heard the news, but due to the heavy traffic of rush hour, they arrived at the airport three minutes after their flight.

Jimin decides to look for available ones as well, but as soon as he opened his phone,

“Ah, here’s one.” She paused. “But it’s triple the price of the one we missed.” She continued, but sighs in defeat. “I guess it will do, the cheapest won’t be available until two days from now.” Jimin listened to his mother and nods. This will bring more problems later on, but they really need to fly back.

Two hours later, they landed in another country that both of them haven’t been to. The flight wasn’t a straight journey from Georgia to South Korea, so it must’ve stopped over to regain fuel and drop some passengers in the country.

They had to wait four more hours in order to board the flight that will send them back to their home country. Jimin tried to find connection so that he can message his boyfriend. Thankfully, the airport had free Wi-fi.

PARK JIMIN
Hey babe. We landed. Just for a while though!

LEE HYUNHO
Oh, hey! I miss you already. How are you there?
Have you seen many cute guys yet? 😉

Jimin sighs as he read Hyunho’s reply. “He’s always like this.” He thoughts to himself.

His relationship with his boyfriend is.. a little complicated. They’ve been together for at least three years. That’s what they tell people, but their relationship has been on and off for multiple times already. The second time they took their space, Jimin had no idea what happened. Hyunho wasn’t talking nor replying to him, no matter how much he tried to reach him. So, Jimin decided to pay him a little visit.

When he did, it was the most confusing thing.

At one point, Hyunho was telling him how much he loved and missed him.

At the second he got back, he told Jimin to never bother him ever again.

He was so confused on to why that happened. He still tried to reach out to him, but to his disappointment, he never could. That’s why he stopped, and just cried to his mom. He hated himself so much and questioned on to why someone would leave him despite all the things he had sacrificed. He kept everything to himself and just kept saying “I’ll get over it.” Like it was a mantra.

During that break, Jimin liked other people. It looked like Hyunho liked other people to, he was too close to girls and boys, that the interaction almost even looked like whoever he talked to was his partner.

A year in their break, they got back together and they tried to understand what happened and what went wrong in the first place. They were fine at first, but Hyunho started to act strange, he became mad at everything Jimin did during their break.

“Why are you in this school film? You do realize he now has plenty of shots of you? How can you be so dumb! You must’ve liked it, huh? The attention? I always knew you were like that.” His boyfriend accuses him when he saw clips of it when they were in class. Jimin sighed in defeat.

“Why did you like him? Did you know that I didn’t like anyone but you during our break? I knew it. You couldn’t even wait for me. I was testing you if could’ve waited for me, that’s why I left.” Hyunho says while remembering that Jimin liked other people.

Jimin wanted to scream. They were on break! Hyunho was the one who stopped talking without even saying anything. Was it illegal to have small crushes on people now? He wanted to fight back, but he didn’t. He knew that it won’t make anything better.

“Yeah, I’m sorry. I was stupid.” Jimin replied, not even trying to help himself.

Jimin had his hand curved in a ball, out of anger. He snapped out of it when his mom noticed him.

“Jimin? Honey? Are you okay? Is something wrong?” his mom asks while trying to soothe his hand.

“Ah, mom. Yeah, I’m okay. I’m sorry. I’m, I’m just a little bit on edge.” He replies trying to take deep breaths. His mom withdraws her hand to pat Jimin in the back. She looks at Jimin like she’s trying to say it’s going to be okay. Jimin just smiles back. He returns to look at his phone noticing that he hasn’t replied to Hyunho in God knows how long.

LEE HYUNHO
Jimin?
Babe?
Hello?
Huh, you’re not replying.
Hello???????????
You must’ve found cute guys again, didn’t you?
Typical you.
You’ve never changed.
HELLO????

PARK JIMIN
Hey, sorry. My mom asked me to help her with something on her phone. I didn’t mean to leave you on read.
No? What the hell, I haven’t! Why the hell even?

LEE HYUNHO
Okay, lol. Chill. I missed you.
Hey, when you get back, don’t forget about me okay? 😉
I know there’s plenty of cute guys there.

PARK JIMIN
Miss you too.
I’ll be back in 2 weeks.
You’re the only cute one in my eyes.

LEE HYUNHO
Better be.
Okay, I have activities to do. Talk to you later.
Love ya’

PARK JIMIN
Okay, love you too.

Jimin sends his reply. As soon as he sent it, his eyes noticed someone going online. Taehyung. He realized he hasn’t told Taehyung he’s coming back. So, as soon as he noticed, he clicked on his best friend’s icon and messaged him.

Mochi
Uh, hey, Tae.
So, I’m going back to Korea.
Like right now.

Jimin thought that he wouldn’t reply because he’s sitting here looking at his messaged that has been read for 2 minutes straight.

Soulmate
What
You’re not joking, are you?

Mochi
I’m not, we’re boarding now.
It was really all of a sudden. Yeah.
My grandmother passed; this wasn’t really planned haha.
See you soon? Hopefully?

Soulmate
Oh my God. I’m sorry for your loss.
Yes, see you soon, Jimin.

Jimin smiled as he read his best friend’s reply while walking towards the gate towards the aircraft. He thinks of his friends. He’ll finally see them. He’ll finally see Taehyung, Yoongi, Hoseok, Namjoon, Seokjin, and Jungk-

Jimin halts. He’ll see Jungkook. After six years, he’ll finally see them.

“Look at the window! We’re here, we’re home, Jimin-ah” his mom exclaims while hugging Jimin.

Jimin looks out the aircrafts window to see land. His home country’s land. He felt weirded out by the fact that he’s finally home again. The last time he saw it was when he was 13. A little boy that the softest and chubbiest cheeks. Now, he’s 19. His lovely cheeks were still there, but his jaw was sharper. He had lost some weight, but it wasn’t that drastic.

He didn’t notice the plane landing, he realized only until he heard the pilot over the plane’s speaker that they have landed safely.

Everything went by quick because of how Jimin’s mind was clouded by too many thoughts. His surroundings felt so familiar, but it also felt so odd that he’s here. With his mind too occupied, at one moment they were at the airport, the next he finally was in front of their home. The home he grew up in, his grandparents’ home.

With his mom leading the way, he went inside the house and tried to scan the entire house. The feeling of familiarity was sneaking up on his mind, but at the same time, he felt like he was in a different house. The last time he was in this home, he was a chubby child that couldn’t even reach the ceiling, he remembered running around with his cousin and their dogs.

Now, he’s almost as tall as the house, bumping his head at the ceiling, which by the way, hurts knowing that it’s cement. He almost swears for 7th time in the span of ten minutes of being in this house but his mom beats him to it by slapping his arm.

“Stop swearing! Go change. We have to go to the funeral home.” His mom says as she unpacks the clothes she just dragged into the luggage.

“Okay, okay! Sorry.” He replies while trying to soothe the pain in his arm. He went over to where his mom was standing and looked at the clothes his mom brought. He looked at his mom because all the clothes she brought were either too skimpy or too baggy. His mom understood his look, and smiled in the sweetest way possible. Jimin sighed because he knew that his mom didn’t have the time to look for the best clothes back at home.

Jimin just took the almost too ripped to wear black jeans and his tight stripped shirt, and changed his clothes.

They finally reached the funeral home. He saw all of his relative there, that he hasn’t talked to for years as well. He walked up to them and hugged them tightly. Jimin can see the sorrow in their eyes. I know they can see it in his eyes too. They had just lost a person that was dear to them and they still couldn’t accept that his grandmother was gone.

As he hugged his uncle, he walks in with his mother in to the home. Once he reached the casket that was covered with the flowers of every color and the one type of flora in the middle that caught Jimin’s eye, it was a purple orchid. His grandmother’s favorite flower. He remembers back to when he was younger.

Whenever, he goes with his grandmother to the market, she will always buy plenty of orchids that she can plant at home. She took good care of them, watering them every day, sometimes Jimin even heard her talking to them. She believed that even if they weren’t talking back, they should be given the love that they deserved.

He didn’t realize he was crying until his mother hugged him tightly. He snuggled into his mother’s hug and just let the tears run down his face.

Time passed by and now he’s just sitting at the chair that the place provided, trying to breathe and calm himself down. His mother was talking to their relatives and the friends that visited the wake.

He had been twirling his phone repetitively until it syncs in. He hasn’t been in contact with anyone for how long.

It’s been, what? 14 hours? 16? Since he last connected to the Wi-fi, thankfully his uncle had always kept a pocket Wi-fi at hand. Once he connected, his phone lit up and was bombarded by so many notifications for messages and calls. It shocked him that all of them were from Hyunho.

He read each and every one of them for him to understand what in the world was happening. When he finally understood, he sighed.

Back when they were on break, take note, THEY WEREN’T TOGETHER. Jimin had a crush on this boy, Jaehyo. It wasn’t serious, it was just a little crush, in fact the guy didn’t even like him back. He just admired from a distance, but one day, a friend who knew that he had a small crush on him asked Jaehyo if he can take a picture with him, which by the way, Jimin never wanted, but nonetheless, he didn’t want to kill the vibe. So, they did. It was a simple picture where neither of them was touching and just smiling at the camera.

Apparently, Hyunho found the picture and got angry. Jimin had enough of it. He doesn’t even want to remember what his boyfriend said. Long story short, Hyunho accused Jimin of being a whore, a dumb ass slut, that he was the one who wanted the picture so badly. He also said that he should get fucked by another guy’s dick because of how shit he is.

PARK JIMIN
I’m tired.
This is what you say to me?
When you know what’s fucking happening in my life?
It was an old picture that neither of us requested.
Fuck you.

Jimin replied, and ignored all the other messages from him. He calmed himself down as soon as possible because he didn’t want to make a scene in front of everyone. As soon as he did, his mind immediately thought of Taehyung. He has to tell him that he landed.

Mochi
Taehyung! I’m here! I landed a few hours ago
But you know, I have no Wi-fi.

Soulmate
Jimin! Oh my, you’re really here!
How are you? I missed you!

Mochi
I’m okay!
I was just wondering if maybe you wanted to visit here? I think the place is just near your place.

Soulmate
Yes, most definitely. I also want to pay respect.
She was a very lovely woman.
I’m sure she’s happy now.

Mochi
Yeah. She was.
Oh okay, here’s the address [Pinned Location]

Soulmate
Thanks! Is it okay if I visit now?

Mochi
Yes, it’s alright.
We’re going to be here all night long.
Just give me a call!
See you, Tae.
And Tae? I missed you too.

Jimin sends before closing his phone. He thought to himself, he’ll finally see his best friend again! He’ll admit he was a bit anxious, because what if he is secretly mad at him for missing 6 birthdays in a row? Or for leaving?

Too occupied in his thoughts, he didn’t notice his phone ringing. It was Taehyung calling. He immediately answered his phone.

“Oh? Taehyung! Hi! Is everything okay?” Jimin wonders why he’s calling.

“Uh, you told me to call you if I was here already. I’m outside.” He replies confusedly. Oh, right. He told Taehyung to call him while they were chatting. Jimin must’ve been too distracted to remember.

“Oh, right! My bad. I’ll be right out.” He tells his best friend and ends the call. He puts his phone in his pocket and heads right out. He scans the crowd of people outside of the place, and his eyes were met with eyes that was looking back at him. The man waves his hands and the familiar boxy smile was wide on display. Jimin smiled back and immediately ran to him.

“Taehyung! I missed you so much!” He admits as he hugs the taller man. His hair was met with big hands that ruffled his brown hair.

“I missed you too, Jiminie!” He hugs Jimin tightly. Once they parted, Jimin had time to notice his best friend’s appearance. Taehyung still looked the same, but his features matured and got way taller. He remembers them being almost the same height six years ago, now he’s way taller despite them having the same age.

“Why are you so tall? What have you been eating?” Jimin pouts while looking up at his best friend. “And I thought I was tall!” he continues still pouting.

“You think I’m tall? You should see the others; well I don’t know about Yoongi-hyung!” He laughs “Oh! Especially Namjoon-hyung and Jeonggukie!” he continues, smiling while he thinks of the others. Jimin freezes at the mention of the latter. Taehyung seems to take the hint and stops laughing.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Jiminie.” He apologizes, looking at Jimin who had just been looking at him. Jimin panics and replies;

“Oh no! It’s okay. Yeah. I, I have a boyfriend.” He looks away as he says the last part. Taehyung raises an eyebrow at him, looking like he doesn’t believe the other, but he shrugs it off.

“Yeah, okay.” He retorts, Jimin swore he sounded sarcastic but his best friend smiles at him and he forgot about it.

“We should head inside; it’s filled with bugs here.” He says to Taehyung. He nods back and they both walk towards the place. As soon as they were inside, they sat and talked to what seemed like hours. They let them catch up with each other, as well as updates about the others too. Namjoon and Hoseok were studying at the same school, although they’re from different classes. Seokjin and Yoongi have the same classes together, and Jeongguk was studying in a school that focuses on Science and Technology.

After a few hours, Jimin thought of an idea which he immediately told Taehyung.

“Hey, can I borrow your phone?” he asks Taehyung who was playing with his cousin.

“Why? Do you need anything?” Taehyung looks back at him, looking all confused. Jimin smiles at him.

“I just thought that maybe, I can text the others? See how they would react? I’d be using your account of course. To surprise them. Also, because I can’t really use my account to do that since my boyfriend will get really mad at me. He doesn’t even know you’re here.” He explains to Taehyung who’s looking back at him with a questionable stare.

“Are you sure he’s your boyfriend?” he asks Jimin while scrunching his face. Jimin shrugs and doesn’t answer the question.

“Just give me your phone, pleaaaaaase.” He pleads to Taehyung while giving him the sweetest smile and stare. He hears him laugh and reaches for his phone in his pocket.

“After six whole years, that still works on me. Damn you.” He says while pretending to be hurt. He passes his phone to Jimin and he continues to play with his cousin.

Jimin opens the phone and goes to Taehyung’s messages and thinks who is he going to message first. Before he left, he was closest to Seokjin. He always had the dad jokes that made Jimin laugh every second of the day. He immediately searched for Seokjin and clicked on him. After that, he messaged Hoseok, Namjoon, Yoongi and Jeongguk in that order and he laughed at every reaction they gave when they realized it was Jimin instead of Taehyung.

Seokjin’s reaction was adorable. Jimin asked him if he could guess who it was, and Seokjin was confused because obviously, it was Taehyung’s account so he immediately thought it was him. To which Jimin replied with nope! Since it was getting nowhere, Jimin admitted that he was talking to him instead of Taehyung, and was dumbfounded by Seokjin’s next reply.

Seokjin Hyungie
Jimin? Why are you using Taehyung’s account?

Okay, his reaction was understandable. When he read the reply, he said that he was actually using Taehyung’s phone. Which, thankfully, he understood. Seokjin was so happy and emotional. He said he missed Jimin so much and even said I hate you jokingly because he hasn’t contacted them for years.

Hoseok was the one who got it immediately. Well, not immediately, maybe after a few guesses.

HORANGI
Hi hello!
Guess who?

HOBARI :3
Taehyung? Are you okay?
It’s Taehyung?

HORANGI
Nope! Guess again. :D

HOBARI :3
Is this Dawon?
Dawon! I’ve been looking all over for you!

Jimin blinked. Well, okay. He was not really shocked that Hoseok mentioned his sister’s name. Taehyung and Dawon were really close. Oftenly, the Jung siblings would always be over at Taehyung’s. Although, they aren’t together. They’re like really close, Taehyung can almost be considered as their third sibling.

HORANGI
Walked right into that, but no!
One more guess?

HOBARI :3
Okay, this maybe a stretch.
But is this Jimin?

Jimin was expecting that he was the one who’ll admit that he was talking to him instead, but it surprised him that Hoseok got it right the third time. When he admitted, Hoseok cursed at him for not saying a word to them for the past 6 years, but despite him cursing, he said that they should meet up soon.

Next was Yoongi and Namjoon, honestly, they didn’t even try to guess. Jimin immediately told them that he’s back here, because knowing them they wouldn’t really react the same way Seokjin and Hoseok did, but they told him they missed him and that they should meet up as 7 soon.

Lastly, he messaged Jeongguk. He’ll admit he was actually pretty nervous, but he still messaged him.

TAE-hyung
Hey hello wassup!
Guess who?

Jeongggukie
What do you want hyung

TAE-hyung
Okay, first of all, ouch. Say hi at least!

Jeongggukie
Ok
Hi
You’re stupid

TAE-hyung
AGAIN, ouch.
Is this how you treat me after 6 years >:c

Jeongggukie
You’re dumb, hyung. What are you talking about
What do you want

Jimin groans. Why is kid being difficult? When will he get it? How can I d—
He smiles as he thought of an idea.

“Taehyungie! Let’s take a picture. Bring Jihyun in too.” As he sits beside Taehyung, squeezing himself in. Taehyung looks at him with his eyebrow raised but still smiled at the camera. Once he got the picture, he went back to his original spot giggling, while Taehyung looks at him once last time and goes back to playing with Jihyun.

TAE-hyung
[Attached Picture]
Is this how you treat your hyung you haven’t seen for years >:c

Jimin giggles as he sends the picture. His giggling halts when he notices that Jeongguk sees the message but hasn’t been replying. Minutes pass by until he finally replies.

Jeongggukie
Jimin-hyung
What aihdfbsajgfsbf
YOU’RE HERE?????? SINCE WHEN???

TAE-hyung
Hi, Jeongguk-ah.
Not long, I had my flight yesterday.
I just got here maybe 2 hours ago?
It was really sudden; we didn’t really plan to go back.
My grandmother passed so, yeah.

Jimin always felt sad and stressed every time he had to admit that, but it’s better than covering it up. His friends loved his grandmother too, and his grandmother felt the same way. She always prepared a whole feast every time they were visiting the house.

Jeongggukie
Oh, I’m sorry, hyung.
Maybe I can visit there?
I want to pay my respects too.

TAE-hyung
Yeah, you can. Here.
[Pinned Location]
If ever you have the time, you can go visit.
It’s only until Saturday.

Jeongggukie
Thanks, hyung.
I missed you!
We should go out sometime, with the others, like old times.

TAE-hyung
Yeah sure!
I missed you too!

As soon as he finished sending the message, he returned the phone to Taehyung. He mumbled a thank you to Taehyung. It was a few minutes later when he spoke once again.

“Hey, Tae. Do you want to go out after all this?” he asks his best friend who was sitting beside him, coloring with his cousin because Jihyun wouldn’t stop pestering him until he said yes.

“Oh, sure! When do you want to go?” Taehyung asks without looking up from the coloring book. Jimin laughs at the sight because his best friend and cousin are so focused on coloring.

“On Saturday? Like maybe around 3? 4:00 o’clock?” he suggests as he runs his hand down on the hem of his shirt. Taehyung’s head looks up at the ceiling, probably trying to think if he’s available at that day. Jimin continues to stare at him and at on point, Taehyung finally looks back at him, smiling.

“Yeah! That’ll be fun! Do you want the others to come to?” he asks Jimin then returning to coloring because Jihyun was tugging his arm.

“Yeah, I want them to come to, but can you be the one who tells them? I can’t really message them. Can I?” he laughs nervously. Taehyung acknowledging his uncomfortableness, looks back at him and smiles.

“Yes, mochi. No problem. I’ll tell them, just keep in contact with me. Okay?” Taehyung assures him. “Oh, I’m so excited. The seven of us all together again!” he continues while smiling that it almost reaches his ears.

Jimin looks at Taehyung while appreciating the smile on his best friend’s face. The thought lingers in his mind, they’ll be seven again. He hopes that everyone is still the same. The last time he talked and saw them was six years ago. Have they really changed that much if Taehyung was so pumped about how different they are now? He had only seen them in pictures, will it be different in real life?

Jimin continues to wonder, waiting for Saturday.

He missed them. He can’t wait to see them. I hope they feel the same way.
