Summary:

Bakugo Katsuki never expected to escape his abusive mother... he also never expected to have a bunny guard dog... but look where he is now.

Notes:

A new fic for you all! I hope you enjoy!
~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Do not ask me to make chapters longer.
Do not ask me to update sooner.
Main fics (List can be found on my discord, Twitter and Tumblr) are updated Mon-Fri
My side fics (any fic not on the main list) are updated whenever I feel I want too.
This is a hobby, I have a life outside fics and once I start taking demands on making longer chapters or updating when you guys want it is a chore. And you will be surprised how quickly I will stop writing the moment it becomes that. I have a plan set out, so just wait for updates. I will get there eventually when I want too, not when you want too.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Author's note: Hey people, post this here as some people don't read the notes. This is a side fic of mine and will only update when I want it too. It has no schedule so please don't go asking for updates. It will just make me wait longer to update.

If someone told Bakugo Katsuki that his father would grow balls and get out of the abusive relationship he and his son were in, he would have told them to fuck off. But here he was, in the back of his father’s car, on route to their new home without his mother, without the reason he had anger issues. At the age of 10, he was finally free.

He was nursing a bruised cheek, a cold pack pressed against it. Masaru sitting quietly, as he drove.

“Are we seriously not going back?” Katsuki asked

“Yes, we can’t continue living like that.” Masaru frowned. “I will call our lawyer later and start divorce proceedings.”

“Okay… What’s going to happen to me?” Katsuki asked “I don’t want to be passed between the two of you… I don’t want to be near here again…”

“I will file for full custody. I won’t let you get hurt again .” Masaru promised. Katsuki nodded…

9 months later and whole bunch of hell, Katsuki and Masaru were in their new home, free of Mitsuki, Katsuki getting to live with his dad full time, his mother not allowed anywhere near them… that was her own fault after she tried to attack them in the divorce proceedings. Katsuki took a deep breath and sighed, Masaru patted his shoulder.

“Ready to go?” He asked, Katsuki nodded. After it all, he was getting therapy… he had been going for a while, mostly hoping between therapists, but none seemed to fit his, they were all… well, Katsuki didn’t feel comfortable around them. This was also a new therapist, a fairly new one too.

The building itself seemed to emit a comfortable aura. Masaru took the lead into the building and speaking to a man at the counter.

“An Appointment for Bakugo Katsuki?” He asked

“Ah, yes, she is free now if you want to go in earlier.” The man smiled.

“What do you want to do Katsuki?” Masaru asked

“I’ll go in early… get it over with.” Katsuki muttered. The man at the reception frowned sadly.

“I’ll be out here.” Masaru promised, as the man lead Katsuki to the door. He knocked and the returned to the reception.

“Come in.” A woman called, Katsuki entered the room and was a little surprised. It was a fairly average sized room, a table with drawing supplies, and walls covered in pictures. “Some of the people that see me are a lot younger then people expect.” He turned to look at the woman. She had long green hair and soft emerald eyes. “Drawing is a good thing to do when talking about emotions too. It is nice to meet you Bakugo, I am Midoriya Inko.”

“Nice to meet you…” Katsuki said, a little surprised at the woman.

“Why don’t you take a seat? I am sorry you went through so many incompetent therapists.” She sighed “I saw the names and gave them a call.” Inko explained seeing Katsuki confusion as he sat down. “I wonder how they could have forgotten their training.”

“What do you mean?” Katsuki asked

“They went straight into asking about what happened and how that made you feel, didn’t they?” Inko said, he nodded. “Well, that is not how you are meant to do this. Stage one… is getting to know the one see you. You can’t expect them to immediately be comfortable with talking about such private things straight from the bat.” Inko sighed, Katsuki smiled a little, she was right… he hadn’t wanted to speak to the others because they seemed to be demanding answers from him. “So, Bakugo, how are you feeling about today. The sun is out, though I am not sure about the cold breeze today.”

“It’s nice… the breeze is a bit cold though.” He nodded. “My Dad likes it when the weather is like this… says it makes it easier for when he’s working.”

“I see, what does your dad do?”

“He is a fashion designer, Bakugo Masaru.” Katsuki said, Inko gasped and smiled.

“I know how I recognise your name! I knew Masaru back in middle school and high school.” Inko giggled. “Still obsessed with fashion I guess.”

“You knew my dad?” Katsuki asked

“Yep, he was a year above me, I worked on the school news paper with him.” Inko smiled. “He was always stuck with what he wanted to do in middle school, and he finally decided in High school.”

“Why was he stuck?”

“Because he couldn’t chose between being a hero and being a fashion designer. He decide fashion was the closest to his heart and that is what he chose.” Inko smiled

“Wow…” Katsuki muttered. He thought back to when his dad would speak about his school years… but all he could remember was his mother yelling at him, saying if he wanted to reminisce on that time he should have married… “Oh no… I think my mother mentioned you… well more in  bad way…”

“It’s okay, you don’t need to tell me.” Inko said and smiled softly.

“But…” Katsuki stopped, Inko smiled at him softly.

“Mitsuki was a troublemaker… I … I knew her too.” Inko sighed. “But, I can see you are definitely more like your father. Do you have an interest in fashion?” Katsuki, glad to change topic, answered. They would go between topics, Fashion, school, Heroes. They spent the most time on heroes. Inko smiling as he went on and on about he would be the best hero and beat All Might as the number one hero.

“Ah, that is a very big dream.” Inko nodded. “I wish you the best of luck on it.” Katsuki blushed.

“Thanks…” He said

“Oh, our time is near up. This is a quiet little place so you can make an appointment for anytime.” Inko smiled, Katsuki frowned, he had enjoyed this so much… he didn’t really want to go…

“Okay.” He nodded.

“Come on, let’s go to the reception and make the next one.” Inko stood. “I always want to see if your father recognises me after all this time.” She added, Katsuki laughed lightly at her and followed her back to the reception, she spoke to the receptionist, as Masaru saw his son and walked over.

“How are you?” He asked

“I like this place dad.” Katsuki told him, Marasu smiled and ruffled his hair.

“This is the next appointment, I have added my work contact details if you feel you need to talk beforehand.” Inko turned to Katsuki and handed him the slip of paper. Masaru stared at Inko in shock.

“Inko?”  He asked, Inko turned to him with a smile.

“Masaru, long time no see.” She said

“A rather long time. How are you doing?” He shook her hand

“Fine, this place is small, but it is doing its best.” Inko smiled “Katsuki said you’re a fashion designer.”

“Ah, yeah. It’s going well. We will have to get together sometime to catch up.” Masaru told her.

“We should. Oh, something I was meant to mention… from what the others you saw said to me, I have one suggestion that can help.” Inko said. She looked at Katsuki. “Have you consider a therapy animal?”

“A therapy animal?” He repeated

“Yes, like a pet that is trained to help. I know a place that puts trained ones for adoption… and if you adopt one before they are trained, they still train them for free.” Inko wrote down the address. “You don’t have to get one, but I felt like maybe having a little friend of your own may be able to help.”

“Okay, thank you.” Katsuki nodded.

“Anytime, I will see you two next time.” Inko smiled. Masaru nodded, and the Bakugo’s left.

“What do you think, Katsuki?” Masaru asked as they drove off.

“Huh?” Katsuki looked up, Masaru smiled

“Would you like a therapy animal?” He said, Katsuki looked up at the address.

“I guess we could take a look…” He nodded.
