Work Text:

Giyuu isn't exactly sure how he got into this kind of situation. Back pressed firmly against a tree, frustrated hands gripping both his wrists and Sanemi's face a good four centimeters away from his.

One moment he is standing in the forest, feet dragging him to his whereabouts. He's grateful for the peace and quiet, absent of any demons and it's just him, in the midst of trees swaying along the wind. Until he hears heavy footsteps from somewhere behind him, he instinctively reaches for the hilt of his sword and is ready to attack whoever approaches him.

He catches sight of the color white and then he's running, maneuvering himself around trees and skillfully leaping from branches to branches, the footsteps getting louder and louder. He closes his eyes for a moment and when the moment felt right, he jumps down from the branch and tackles the demon.

Except, it isn't a demon.

"What the fuck?!"

Giyuu looks down and startles, coming face to face with none other than his fellow pillar, Sanemi. He feels his grip momentarily loosen on his sword until he realizes what is going on and slides it right back in his sheath. Shit. "Sorry." He deadpans. After he says that, he catches up with the situation and realizes he's straddling the wind pillar. He immediately panics and springs on his feet in a matter of three seconds.

Sanemi 'hmph'-s and stands up as well, brushing the dirt off of him. "The hell are you doing here, anyway? Going insane or some shit?" He retors, sending a nasty glare over Giyuu's direction. If he didn't know Sanemi for long, he would have cowered in fear for sure. But he already knows him. For too long. So he only holds his gaze and says, "Sorry."

"Stop apologizing!"

"Sorry."

"You little sh-"

"Can we head back already?" Giyuu sighs, turning around his heels and starts trotting back from where he came from. Giyuu hears the silver-haired man mumble something but he doesn't pay it any mind.

"I'm gonna kill you after we get there." Sanemi says with no bite in his words, so Giyuu only side-eyes him. But apparently, his mouth-brain filter isn't cooperating that time and what would have ended with him not replying, his stupid mouth said something that neither of them could believe he actually said.

"Kiss me instead."

Pure silence envelops the entire forest and the black-haired man feels his body go numb and rigid under tension. His face heats up so uncontrollably that he has to walk faster and take a few paces ahead of Sanemi, trying to get away from shame and embarrassment.

"What did you say?" Giyuu feels his breath hitch when Sanemi speaks, his voice laced with a foreign tone and Giyuu is scared.

"I said we should get ba-" He doesn't get to finish his sentence because the next thing he knows, he's pinned on a tree. Ah, so that's how it happened.

His wrists ache from the sudden force exerted on them and the sharp texture of the tree isn't really doing anything good on his back.

Giyuu makes the mistake of making eye contact with Sanemi because there seem to be a gleam in his eyes he had never seen before. He feels his heartbeat spike up when he feels so aware of the situation. The atmosphere feels heavy and thick, as if nichirin blade couldn't even cut through it. The forest seems dead too, quiet as it could be when there are many crows flying around. It doesn't make sense.

"Tomioka." He blinks, gaining consciousness of the man before him. Said man let out a meek "yes?" and gulps in what he hoped have been quiet.

"What did you say?" Sanemi repeats his question from earlier, his voice down an octave. Giyuu feels itchy and he doesn't know what to do with himself. Giyuu takes a deep breath and let his head roll back and rest on the tree, looking at Sanemi under his eyelashes. "Kiss me."

And boy, did Sanemi kiss him.

It was too fast for Giyuu to process all at once, lips suddenly pressed harshly against his and it's fierce, it's messy and it's so much like Sanemi. Their teeth clash a few times and it's becoming too overwhelming for him, so frees himself from Sanemi's hold and pushes him back. "Slow." Huff. "Down."

Sanemi only smirks at him. "Then catch up, idiot." And with that, Sanemi's chapped but soft lips are back on his.

Giyuu prepares himself this time, wrapping an arm around Sanemi's shoulders and his free hand making its way to the wind pillar's spiky hair, finding its place there.

Giyuu can feel Sanemi's hands trailing down his waist and rubbing it and holy shit it feels so good. Pressed up together like this, Giyuu can hardly even breathe.

Their kiss is still fast, though with a rhythm that both of them could get in pace with. Everytime Sanemi's tongue brushes against his, electric shocks travel down his body and it's so unreal, he feels like none of this is real.

After a few more seconds of kissing, Sanemi pulls away and Giyuu (embarrassingly) chases his lips, causing the latter to chuckle. "Slow down." Sanemi mocks him. Giyuu glares at him.

"Kiss you, huh?" Sanemi cocks a brow at him and Giyuu turns away, feeling shy. "Shut up."

"Is this a one time thing?" Sanemi snorts, and the water pillar feels his heart drop. "Because the moment is too heavy for you? Is this like, your cope mechanism-?"

Giyuu stares at the ground. "No. I'm still going to want you tomorrow and the day after tomorrow." It's the cheesiest thing Giyuu has ever heard himself say, but there's no turning back now. His attraction to Sanemi just skyrocketed the moment they become pillars and this situation clearly doesn't help.

They're quiet for a moment and Giyuu readies himself for rejection, a spat of insult and disgust, but what he gets is completely unexpected.

Giyuu feels a finger lift his chin up and then the same lips he just kissed earlier comes back, this time sweeter and brief. Somehow, it gave him more butterflies than their intense kissing session earlier ever did.

Sanemi releases him afterwards and he turns around, the red tinge on his cheeks doesn't go unnoticed by Giyuu, and walks away. "Let's head back."

Giyuu doesn't know what to do with himself.
