Chapter Text
“Get the hell away from me!” Naib screamed as he ran away. “Of all 8 fucking survivors, ya’ll go for one fucking survivor!”
“Come here you pest of a mercenary!” Luchino, the Evil Reptilian, roared as he continues to jump and try to crush Naib unsuccessfully all the while slashing his machete at the said survivor. “This will be the day I will kill you!”
“Are you dumb?! You’re not even allowed to kill me let alone a fucking survivor, dumbass!” Naib used his elbow pads to dash away as the Reptilian was about to stab him.
“What did you say?!”
"DUMBASS!"
Jack, the other hunter, merely sighed as he decided to chase a different survivor, their argument reaching him despite how far the hunters are. Luchino never liked Naib in any way shape or form. If anything, he loathed the mercenary. One main reason was because he’s difficult to capture, another reason is because Naib and Jack are similar in terms of personality… except that Jack is more of a gentleman than Naib, only when Jack gets pissed off that the hunter resembles Naib.
Luchino had enough of Jack's antics and he doesn't need a survivor carbon copy of Jack. Just even the thought the host would put Jack and Luchino together in a Duo Hunter pack makes him even want to murder Naib.
Jack didn’t even know it was Naib that Luchino was chasing when he saw the Reptilian was having trouble hitting a survivor until Naib complained as Jack approached, using his Foggy Blade to at least injure the survivor.
Jack spotted a Forward near, blissfully decoding so he went there, ignoring Naib and Luchino’s arguments. Meanwhile the two continued to bicker, giving the other survivors a sigh of relief as they decode peacefully, knowing Naib can contain Luchino for a long time when they received in their transmitter that Naib has been kiting Luchino for 120 seconds.
When Naib finally got downed, Luchino couldn’t help but laugh, savoring his victory. “Take that!”
“Why you--” Naib groaned in pain, clutching his injuries.
Luchino was about to tie the mercenary when Jack appeared, taking Naib in his arms. “I’ll take him to the chair,” he said.
Luchino poked Jack with the back of his machete. “You better. If I don’t see him in a chair, I’ll personally strangle you.”
With that Luchino left, aiming for Kurt which was about to save Naib, but ran away when the Reptilian saw them.
Naib raised an eyebrow at the hunter. “Are you?”
“Nah.” Jack and Naib chuckled. “I’ll just say you were saved.” Naib didn’t resist the hunter as he brought him to a phone, knowing that Naib couldn’t decode or heal fast enough. “Here we are! You better let someone heal you, though.”
“Oh, they will. I’ll just stay here for a bit.” Naib gave him a pained smile. “Look, there’s Emily.”
True enough, the Doctor was making her way towards Naib so the hunter gently put him down against the tree, near the phone booth. “Well then, I shall make my leave.”
“Thanks, Jack.” Naib waved as the hunter went invisible, walking away from him.
“Naib! Are you alright?” the doctor asked as she inspected his wounds. “Hold on, let me heal you.”
“I appreciate it a lot, Emily.”
Emily sighed. “We’re somewhat happy that you managed to keep one hunter busy, making us decode, but Jack is relentlessly going after other survivors,” she said as she bandaged his wounds. “You can only handle pain for so long, Naib. Don’t push yourself.”
He chuckled. “Well, that is my role, right? Saving and kiting hunters. Besides, I’m not really into decoding. Those things are giving me flashbacks.”
Emily patched up Naib and she stood up. “I’ll be decoding over there. There’s only three left so let’s do our best.”
“Yup! We’ll get this win no matter what! Just leave it to me!”
There was only one cipher to go and there were only five survivors left. Naib, fully healed and had not encountered either hunters for a while, made his way to rescue his best friend, William. “Naib!” the forward’s face lit up as he sees the mercenary. Naib only grinned as he helped William off the chair but that got Luchino’s interest.
“Oi! Come back here!” the Reptilian jumped.
“Run!” William doesn’t need to be told as he ran as fast as possible but when he looked down, he can see that he wouldn’t be able to make it. He felt a push behind him, stumbled and looked back to see that Naib had pushed him, the mercenary under Luchino’s feet. “Go!” The forward mumbled a ‘sorry’ before running off.
“Tch, so you managed to escape,” Luchino grumbled as he tied Naib. “I won’t let the same mistake happen.” Unfortunately for the Reptilian, Martha was there, gun pointed at him. Naib can only grin watching Luchino’s eyes widened at the realization.
BANG.
“Good job, Martha, I really owed you back there.” Naib thanked the Coordinator.
“No problem, that’s what we’re supposed to do right?” Martha smiled as they walked towards the dining hall of the manor. “After all, you did save and kite Luchino longer than I expected. It’s only fair that we rescue you.”
Naib still remembered Luchino’s frustrated tantrum towards Jack as they all escaped, but he knew that Jack didn’t care if they lost, thus the Reptilian’s frustrations only went in and out of Jack’s ears, waving at Naib as the survivor left last. It was satisfying to hear that Naib was able to get another win from Luchino, much more when Naib realized he has kited Luchino for 300 seconds.
