Work Text:

“I really can’t stay!”

Really, the second time at karaoke was always worse.

“But baby it’s cold outside.”

Sure, the first time Katsuki had gone to karaoke with his class, it was ok. Sure, he didn’t sing, but he drank the seemingly never-ending supply of pop on the table and got to watch the rest of his class fuck up their shit by belting it to ballads and shitty pop songs while laughing with Kirishima the whole time. He might even go out of his way to say that it was kind of fun .

“I’ve got to go away!”

But this, this was completely fucking horrible.

“But baby it’s cold outside.”

Katsuki could literally think of around 50 different and 100% better ways he could spend his evening then sitting in this supid karaoke bar with absolutely no pop (apparently he was banned because he had drank it all last time. He thought communal was supposed to mean that whoever wanted it could fucking take it, but whatever) and listening to fucking Deku and Half ‘n’ Half croon out this dumb semi-rapey english song to each other.

And, this time, he couldn’t even laugh, because half the class was cooing at them and the other half were either recording it or not paying any damn attention.

He was literally about to blow something up (not like he didn’t last time, and his classmates had made him own up to and pay for it. Sometimes he wanted to blow them up too.) around halfway into the song (who made this monstrosity four minutes. He’ll blow them up too) when his saviour came in the form it always did. Red haired, 5’7, and cute.

“Bakugou, ‘m feeling kind of sick. Can you come back to the dorms with me?”

“Fine, Shitty Hair. But are you sure you want to miss the show?” He gestures back to the duo still singing and Kirishima laughs before clutching his head, Katsuki almost reaching out a hand to rest on his shoulder before thinking better of it.

“Yeah, I’m sure,” Kirishima says, and they both exit the building after leaving money on the table to cover their share of the costs.

They get out into the fresh air and snow immediately starts falling onto both of them, chilling Katsuki’s face and fingers. Kirishima, when Katsuki spares a glance at him, looks like the snow is helping his head exponentially, and he actually sticks out his tongue to catch some of it, laughing when it makes his mouth cold.

They start walking.

It’s not late, only around 7:00, but Katsuki still keeps his eye out, looking around dark corner and into alleys before they pass, around a step in front of Kirishima, just in case.

“Bakugou.”

Katsuki turns around on his heel only to be faced with a pouting Kirishima who’s holding his gloveless hands up.

“My hands are cold.”

“Yeah, and what do you want me to do about it?”

Kirishima seems to only pout harder at this.

“Come on Katsuki, there’s no one here.”

Katsuki stops and sighs, reluctantly holding out his hand for Eijirou to grab, and Eijirou happily does just that, skipping to his place beside Katsuki’s side.

“You know we can hold hands when we’re alone, right?” Eijirou asks, and Katsuki hums, squeezing Eijirou’s hand in lieu of an answer.

“Ok, good.”

They walk the rest of the way to the dorms in near silence, Eijirou periodically humming when he catches snowflakes in his mouth and swinging their conjoined hands between them.

Katsuki catches himself sneaking glances at his boyfriend in this happy state, seemingly content with only holding Katsuki’s hand and walking with him, when something occurs to him.

“Wait a second, did you lie about having a headache just to spend time with me?”

Eijirou shoots him a wicked grin and, if only for the reason that they’re near the dorms, lets go of Katsuki’s hand and takes off, sprinting at full speed and laughing at the top of his lungs.

“You could have just asked, dumbass!” Katsuki cries, feeling an explosion build up as he started chasing after him.

“Yeah, but this was way more fun!”
