My Hero

Summary:

It’s so cliche. So ridiculous. So fucking stupid.

They are in a dark alley in the middle of the night and his coworker slash friend slash growing crush just saved him from a mugging gone wrong.

Notes:

Day 8 - Stab Wound

I blame this on all the EraserMight stories I've been binge-reading these last few days. Why are the dads like this. Why do I love them so much.

This is a no quirks AU, but Toshi is the same self-sacrificing ridiculous hero we all despair over and love.

Work Text:

Stupid, stupid, stupid. Of course. Of course, he did something as stupid and self-sacrificing as jumping in front of him at the last second and consequently getting fucking stabbed.

Such an idiot.

“Hey,” the idiot says, and he looks woozy and pained but he’s fucking smiling, like a fucking idiot. “Hey, don’t cry, it’s okay.”

“Shut up,” Shouta answers, biting. He stubbornly keeps the tears from falling as he holds the other man’s weight and slowly gets both of them down until they’re on the ground, Shouta in uncomfortable seiza with Toshinori’s head on his lap. He’s not in hurry as the danger’s long gone—the fucking mugger got scared after actually stabbing someone when he was obviously nervous and new at this threatening-people-for-their-money thing and ran away.

It’s so cliche. So ridiculous. So fucking stupid.

They are in a dark alley in the middle of the night and his coworker slash friend slash growing crush just saved him from a mugging gone wrong.

“You’d better not do something stupid like dying on me, old man,” Shouta says, narrowing his eyes as Toshinori coughs up blood. He’d be more freaked out by it if it wasn’t something that happened every other day. He looks at the stab wound and heaves a sigh of relief when he sees it didn’t hit anything vital. Still, there’s blood and he’s pretty sure Toshinori must be in a lot of pain, even though he’s not showing it. Must have very high pain tolerance, probably a result of his condition. Still. “I’m calling an ambulance,” he declares.

Toshinori dares to pout up at him. Pout.

“Stop that,” Shouta barks, struggling to take his phone out of the pocket of his comfy sweatshirt while he tries not to move Toshinori too much. He doesn’t avoid the other man’s eyes and he definitely doesn’t blush. “You’re going to be the death of me,” he mumbles.

“Might I point out that I just saved you?” Toshinori says, cheeky.

Shouta awards that stupid comment with the deadpan expression it demands.

“No.” He dials. “Now shut up and look pretty while I call for help.”

It’s only when the call connects that he realizes what he’s just said, and his face catches fire. He struggles through his embarrassment as he relays the information to dispatch, but when the call finishes, he can’t help but look down.

Toshinori’s fucking beaming.

The death of him.
