It can't be said that domesticity is for everyone but Jonathan was one who found the simple joys in married life. Maybe it wasn't the white picket fence and cereal pack family that his father once told him he would have but it was better, because a life with those he loved most was more than enough for him.

He loved waking in the morning to his beloved Dio, who he married after almost 14 years into their relationship, and starting his day with a sleepy kiss as if he were waking his prince in a fairytale.

He loved how Dio would let him go to the bathroom to go to the toilet and wash up but as soon as he came back Dio would always try and coerce him back into bed to lay with him for 5 minutes more. It hardly ever worked and it was like a fun game getting Dio up with promises of kisses or food or sometimes even with the threat of deadlines that Dio had to meet.

He loved to go to his son's room and shake his boy awake so their little family could start the day together. Giorno would wake up, bleary eyed and messy haired, saying "Good morning, Dad" and yawning as he stretched his body to relieve it of the tiredness that had settled into his bones during the night.

He loved how they could spend their mornings together, each of them doing their own things before their shared breakfast. An unspoken rule of their household was that they would always try to eat at least one meal together a day. Sometimes Dio would cook something and JoJo would set the table, sometimes it was the other way round, and sometimes, as of late, Giorno would take it upon himself to get cereal ready for them all, the table set with three bowls and three spoons. Jonathan and Dio both found it adorable how willingly Giorno helped them out, he'd seen the way they had done things for years and he was growing up to do the same.

He loved how he got to take Giorno to school. His son was growing up and it was beautiful. In the car ride there JoJo would quiz Giorno on spellings or mental maths or general knowledge and then before leaving the car Giorno would always lean over the gap between the two seats to give his Dad a hug and kiss goodbye.

He loved the fact he had a stable job, a stable income, and got to do everything he had ever dreamed of doing. There had been a time he had worked out on the field, going to archaeological digs and the like and there had been a time he had worked behind the scenes writing up reports and doing background research on sites, all before Giorno was born. For the moment he was a teacher, a history teacher at college level, and seeing the children who had chosen his subject to continue on in their further studies was beyond gratifying. He was inspiring the new generation of kids who would go off to do work like him in the field if history and he honestly loved his job and the people he got to work with, both student and staff.

He loved how he and Dio had fallen into a routine of sending midday texts to each other. Dio, of course, was hardly ever the one to instigate a conversation over text when the subject was what they spoke about at lunch. Maybe he would send one first to JoJo asking how his day was going, telling him he was sure he was doing a good job, but when he would break the norm of saying something incredibly sappy were the days that JoJo loved the most. Like when Dio had texted out of nowhere "I love you, I miss you, I hope you're doing well." one time when Jonathan had been off on a dig and they hadn't seen each other in days, that had made everything so much brighter and worth doing.

He loved when he got to pick up Giorno from school - he and Dio had come to the agreement that JoJo would pick him up purely because their timings matched up better, but that wasn't to say that Dio didn't pick up Giorno on occasion - and he loved hearing from the teacher how well Giorno had been doing in class that day. His son barely got into trouble, and when he did it was almost always justified, or. Dio would be scary enough for the both of them to get the subject to drop (maybe not the most ethical thing for a prosecutor to do but it worked and JoJo wasn't going to complain).

He loved returning to the house that he and Dio had made a home of. The walls they had wallpapered together, the carpets and curtains and decor they'd chosen together, the warmth of a place they could call their own was beyond compare. Each day they returned, they shared a welcome home kiss and asked each other how their days had been as all good couples did. Both of them, and Giorno, could relax in their home, be it when they would do so together or if they were separate.

He loved the fact they could now cook dinner as a family, making a meal for all of them to enjoy together because if they had the chance they why not take it. It was sweet and soft the way they all fit into the kitchen, sharing the tasks of the night between them (Giorno obviously getting the best job of being the taste tester each time), and then the intimacy of eating together again for, usually, the second time that day.

He loved being able to help Giorno with his school work, be it listening to him read to make sure his vocabulary and pronunciation were okay, or giving help and watching over Giorno write a report or do maths or make a picture, or anything else it was that the school had set for Giorno to do. Jonathan rarely had the chance to do his school work with his father, neither had Dio, and so they wanted to give their child the joy of having both parents help with the school work.

He loved the way he got to make sure Giorno got ready for bed each day, and then getting to tuck him in and read a bed time story to him. Most nights, Dio would do it, leaving JoJo to catch the tail end of their nightly rituals and watch how sweetly Dio would read the end of the book to an already sleeping Giorno, but the nights he got to read to Giorno were just as good. He watched as his son dozed off to sleep and then would smile before kissing him on the forehead, leaving the room as quietly as possible.

He loved being able to go to sleep with Dio each and every night, the two of them cuddling up under the covers and making talk about nothing and everything or doing whatever else they felt like until they fell asleep, wrapped up in the blankets and in each others arms.

Jonathan loved the domesticity that had made a place for itself in his life with his family and he wouldn't trade it for any other. This family was his and that was more than enough.
