Chuuya stares at the empty-looking bed in front of him.

Well, it is indeed literally empty, as nobody is lying down on it at the moment, but to Chuuya it feels more empty as the thought that he's gonna be sleeping there alone tonight sinks in.

A piece of clothing catches his attention, one crumpled and thrown on one side of the bed, making his eyebrows meet.

He clicks his tongue as he takes his steps towards the thing that is capable of annoying him just by its presence there.

It's a shirt that is too big to be Chuuya's, though he has actually found it comfortable to wear on some mornings.

"Seriously, if you're gonna be staying at my place at least learn to clean up your things.. idiot."

He says, though nobody else hears it, and his voice indicated how the annoyance he was feeling was then replaced with loneliness, as he picks up and clenches the shirt close to his chest.

Chuuya sits on the edge of the bed, still holding on to the shirt.

It smells of Dazai.

A sigh comes out of his mouth.

They had a particularly bad argument last night. They left without even exchanging words nor glances this morning.

Dazai has been sort of living with him for quite some time now.

The days and nights that he doesn't spend at Chuuya's place have been almost nonexistent, though they never really did talk about moving in together.

And yet now, Chuuya thinks, "There's no way he'll come home tonight."

A bitter smile draws on his lips.

After all, Dazai is almost always the one who arrives home first.

"I might have said too much last night."

Chuuya reflects and oh, he is feeling guilt, he is actually feeling guilty about hurting that asshole?, and the more he thinks about it the more his head and chest hurts.

"Tsk. But that was his fault!" He talks back to himself.

"Aahh, fuck, I'm so tired for this."

He covers his eyes with his arm and lets his body rest on the cold bed, lying down on the side that is usually not his, while his other hand still holds on to his partner's shirt.

His head ends up on the pillow that is not his. While the pillow also smells of Chuuya's shampoo, there is a stronger specific scent that only made his heart swell.

"Dazai..."

---------

"I'm home."

He says it, more out of habit.

And while he is actually used to not getting any response since he almost always arrives home first, the silence of tonight somehow feels especially cold, forcing a sigh out of him.

He takes off his tan coat, vest, and bolo tie as he makes his way to the bedroom.

They had a really bad fight last night. The thought makes him bite his lower lip.

He opens the door to the bedroom gently, his heart actually beating fast.. no, definitely not out of nervousness, he can't be afraid of what is on the other side.

He's not nervous, no, of course he has thought this through, he wouldn't be here right now if he hasn't prepared for this.

And yet...

Dazai takes a deep breath.

All I really want now is to go home.

The sight that greets him is something that has not and will never ever enter his predictions.

He wanted to see his partner but he surely wasn't prepared for this, and his jaw just drops.

The small, pretty man is lying down...

on Dazai's side of the bed,

head on Dazai's pillow,

while tightly hugging Dazai's shirt close to his chest.

The rate of Dazai's beating heart doubles, though the cause of it is now different from earlier.

It's suddenly warm, and he can even feel the heat reaching his cheeks.

He somehow manages to carry his feet towards the bed, crossing the distance between them.

Chuuya's sleeping form has always been ethereal, has always been one of Dazai's favorite sights.

It is undoubtedly one of the wonders of the universe, one of the best masterpieces ever created.

But this one tops them all, he feels like he wants to kneel and worship him right then and there.

Dazai dares to lean to plant a kiss on his forehead.

The light sleeper Mafioso shifts a little and wakes up seconds after, revealing blue eyes that meet brown ones.

"Dazai..?" His voice sleepy yet surprised.

Dazai smiles, much wider than he intended.

"Chuuya.." he calls, longingness apparent.

Chuuya just blinks at him, as if making sure that he isn't dreaming.

"Chuuya.." Dazai takes a deep breath, as if the air can give him the courage for what he's about to say next.

"May I sleep with you?"

Chuuya doesn't reply, but his body moved to make enough room for Dazai, who then tucks himself under the blanket beside him.

As partners moving in rhythm without the need for words, Chuuya pressed himself closer at the same time Dazai pulled him towards him, their arms wrapping around each other.

No one dared to speak, both reveling in the feeling of having their partner finally back in their arms again.

When they decided to break the silence, the same words came out of their lips at the same time.

"I'm sorry."

Their chuckles intersected upon hearing the other say the same word.

Chuuya pulls away a bit, though his face remained close to the taller one's chest.

"I said too much. I ran my mouth without thinking. I didn't mean-"

"Sshh," Dazai hushes. "I understand. It was my fault, after all."

Amazed, Chuuya can't help but giggle. "You... You actually admitted, huh."

"Well, I also did some reflection, you know. Besides, Chuuya also did admit to not having a brain."

"Oy, that's not what I said!"

The sound of Dazai's laughter fills the air, instantly bringing butterflies to the redhead's stomach.

He runs his fingers through the red locks. "But my chibi Chuuya actually missed me, hnn~"

"My height has nothing to do with that."

Dazai's smile widens. Chuuya did not deny missing him.

"Sleeping on my side of the bed, head on my pillow, all the while hugging my shirt? Oh, Chuuya! I felt so loved!"

A weak punch lands on his chest. "Stop being dramatic." The redhead feels his face flushing red, as he imagined how he must have looked earlier.

"Arrggh, I hate you!" Another jab on the chest.

"Chuu~ya! Don't say that when we've just made up!"

Chuuya just lets out a sigh.

Burying his red face on his partner's chest, he whispers softly, "But I really thought you wouldn't come home tonight."

"Hmmm... But," Dazai tightens the embrace.

"This, is my only home."

"What about your place?"

"Idiot. It doesn't have Chuuya there. There's no point."

Chuuya's eyes widen slightly, Dazai's words resonating in his heart.

Home...

A content smile graces his lips, and he says no more.

Dazai presses his lips on top of his partner's head.

"You don't even have any idea how much I missed you today."

The chibi chuckles a little. "I hope we don't fight like that again. I don't think being this uncharacteristically sweet suits us," he says while tightening his wrap around his man.

"I do want us not to fight like that again," Dazai pauses. "But I think being sweet and honest isn't all that bad sometimes."

Chuuya laughs, now feeling warm and comfortable at the thought.

Dazai loosens his hold, having space enough for the small one to look up so their eyes can finally meet again.

Gazing at their partner, they both see that there, clearly reflected in the windows of their souls, is love.

Chuuya's hand reaches to cup his lover's face, his thumb brushing his cheek.

"Welcome home, Dazai."

Dazai's eyes shimmer, as he puts his hand on top of his lover's hand.

"I'm home, Chuuya."

They lean and their lips meet, sharing a kiss that seals their sweetest and sincerest feelings.
