The Split
There was something that he had always wondered, when it came to Arahabaki. While he also wondered if he could ever be free from it, he also wondered what it was like to BE Arahabaki.
A God, trapped in a mortal body, unable to leave. And when you do get a chance of freedom, you can’t leave your vessel, which breaks under your control.
The amount of anger one would feel, unable to have freedom, would be immense.
So while he doesn’t like the God residing in his head, he tolerates the constant anger and need for bloodshed and violence, he ignores the involuntary dark thoughts, and occasionally indulges the god in some of the less-extreme violent tendencies.
Whether that was making a particularly bloody kill or drawing out Torture for just that little bit longer and making it a bit more painful that it really ought to be, it helped to quiet the rage and anger for the time being.
Then... something happened.
What happened, he wasn’t sure, but something was Different.
He was the same physically, he still had his ability, and he didn’t feel different.
No, that was a lie.
He didn’t feel Anger.
The constant anger, rage and need to destroy was gone, and left what felt like a hole in his head. He couldn’t really feel... anger.
Was Arahabaki gone?
He dug out his phone, a phone which he knew wasn’t tampered by mori or Kouyou, and was used for one specific reason.
Dazai.
It was the truce between them, constantly. No matter if they hated each other’s existence, if one needed the other, they would go running. He sent a simple text.
‘Annoy me.’
He got a simple question mark in response, but he ignored it. It would make Dazai curious enough to come over at least. He got up, got dressed, and started to get ready when a cat walked into his room.
The cat was black with red markings and had fully-red eyes. It sat by the door and Mewled sweetly.
‘Hello Chuuya.’
He froze in shock and confusion.
“What-“
‘To explain simply, I am the Deity that you would know as ‘Arahabaki’. You killed enough in my name without releasing my power, to let me be able to take a form from outside of your Mortal body. Here I can talk to you, unlike before where I could read your thoughts and feelings but unable to communicate other than my own feelings.” He explained and Chuuya blinked.
“Wait, so me killing and torturing people, while thinking of doing it messy for you, gave you enough power to split from me and have your own form?” He asked and the Deity chuckled.
‘Chuuya, while I am in another form, I am unable to leave your side. We are still connected, but like this I do not impact your feelings, thoughts, or mental capacity. You might find that you can learn more, think quicker, and have less anger.’ Arahabaki explained and Chuuya hummed and sat on his bed. The God jumped onto the bed, aking no indentations, as though it didn’t have a mass.
“Why does Dazai’s ability stop you? When I use your full power?” he asked and the God chuckled.
‘Dazai Osamu has been blessed by the Other Gods. There are few who are blessed, but those blessed are ones who are not allowed to die until they have served their purpose. I personally feel sorry for him, seeing how he wants to die. But his Nullification Ability was his Blessing, and while he wouldn’t be able to stop others blessed by the gods, he can stop you when using my Power. Because despite being God-like, I am but a small Deity. Even worse is that I have another Half out there, whom I have been split from, which is why I was able to be captured and put into a human Host, because I am but half a Minor God.’ The God explained and Chuuya listened.
It was weird, but it was interesting.
‘If you want, Chuuya, I could tell you about stuff that you wouldn’t know otherwise. Even as a small Diety, I am still much more powerful than a normal Human. For example, you should probably go downstairs as Dazai is going to Knock on the door in Five Minutes.’ The God-in-Cat-Form warned him and he nodded, letting Arahabaki jump onto his shoulders, as he made his way downstairs.
“You know, I’ve been stamping down Your Anger and Rage so much for years that I can barely feel my own.” He said and the God chuckled.
‘Ah, My appologies for that. You were right in where you put your Sympathy, in where I don’t like having my freedom taken away from me, and being forced to inhabit a human like a Parasite.’ The god said, anger in their voice, and Chuuya could slightly feel it from their connection, but it wasn’t as strong.
“I knew it. Glad to be right about something for once. Also what about Dazai? Will his ability force us to fuse together again?” He asked and the cat shook its head.
‘No, it shouldn’t. While his ability will work on You with my Power, it won’t affect me, as I am my own being, even if I am still connected to you. So whether he touches you or me, I won’t be forced to enter your body. I’m not quite sure how to re-attach us without it being permanent, but I’m sure it’s do-able.’ The god said and he nodded, humming gently as he heard someone pick his lock and let themselves in. He felt amusement, rather than anger.
“In the Kitchen!” He called, and he heard the soft patting of footsteps come close to the kitchen, but never entering. “Are you going to watch me like a creature in a zoo or are you going to come and annoy me like I asked?” He asked, smiling as he finished making his food. A simple ham-sandwich.
“I’m just trying to figure out why The Chibi wants to be annoyed.” Dazai said and it was obvious that he was actually trying to figure out if he was an imposter or not.
“Well turns out Arahabaki got strong enough to leave my body but not strong enough to leave fully so we’re still connected, and he promptly turned into the form of a cat, though where he went I don’t know.” He said looking around. Arahabaki was too light; he didn’t register the cat leaving his shoulders. “I realised something was different when I couldn’t feel the constant Anger he causes. So I wondered if I could bring it up with you trying to annoy me.” He said with a shrug.
‘It also gave you an excuse to see him.’ Arahabaki said, jumping onto the counter.
“Hah?” He asked eloquently. The God chuckled.
‘Dazai cannot understand me in this form. To Him, I am simply meowing at you. Mew~. Back on track, I’ve been in your brain for the total of fifteen years. You love him, just as he loves you. The Pining hurts to watch, but I can help get him back if you want~’ The Cat gave a chershire-like grin and he saw Dazai Shiver.
“Well, that cats Creepy.” He murmured.
“That is Arahabki. And I think I’ll take you up on that Offer Arabakitty.” He teased the god who rolled his eyes.
“So... The hat rack can now talk to Cats... whats the Slug going to show next?” Dazai teased and Chuuya just smiled.
“God, that is Weird not getting annoyed at your remarks.” He chuckled sitting on the sofa. Dazai pouted.
“Ahhhh~ The Slugs anger is as small as his height now! Or possibly even smaller than his stupid tacky hat! Though I doubt your patience has grown at all, just like the Chibi’s height~” He teased and Chuuya raised his eyebrows. He was pulling all of the stops.
“I’m more impressed at how you were able to insult me multiple in three sentences than upset.” He admitted, taking a bite of his food before it was stolen out of his hands.
“hmmm, If Chibi doesn’t get Angry, he doesn’t get food. Now become Hulk-like you tiny-gorrilla!” Dazai said, before then scoffing Chuuya’s sandwich down his throat. Chuuya blinked and then laughed.
“Okay, so you’re willing to eat my food to get me angry. This means I can make food for you that you’re going to eat.” Chuuya said. Dazai scrunched his face up.
“Chuuya’s cooking sucks, I just won’t let you make food!” he claimed, and like that, they were play fighting in the Kitchen. Chuuya ended up laughing his head off when Dazai knocked flour off of a shelf and onto his head. Dazai was whining the entire time he was laughing.
Dazai took a shower, Chuuya tidied up, and he had to admit. He felt his anger, but it was easily ignored. He didn’t want to lash out, and he felt sort of at peace. Arahabaki simply crawled into his lap and fell asleep which was endearing in itself seeing it was currently taking the form of a cat.
Luckily it was his day off, so when he ended up falling asleep to purring and just generally feeling warm, he wasn’t worried. Even with Dazai in the house, because while the twat will pull pranks, he won’t do anything stupid-stupid.
