Summary:

Kirishima wouldn't call them fuckbuddies. He wouldn't say they were dating either. He didn't know what to call them but he wanted to call Bakugou more than just his friend.

Work Text:

Kirishima sets down the laptop beside him and gets up. He steals a glance at the clock before leaving the living room and making his way down the hallway to the front door of his apartment. It was late, even for Kaminari or one of his friends to be coming by. Plus with no text or call beforehand he doubted it would be any of them considering they knew he had a long day.

Unsure who it could be Kirishima pulled open the door hesitantly and red eyes lifted from the ground to meet his.

“Hey,” Kirishima called, though uncertain. Bakugou raised his head slightly and Kirishima opened the door wider. “What’s up?”

Kirishima knew Bakugou did have pockets full of reasons to be by his door. Most of which had to do with the mission they both encountered today. Kirishima’s own laptop had some pages open he needed Bakugou’s help with but realizing the time he decided to wait. Kirishima knew Bakugou wasn’t one to wait though.

“I wanted to see you,” Bakugou says catching Kirishima by surprise. He inhales sharply, his heart fluttering at the honest words he couldn’t help but admire because it was so manly, so Bakugou to say and do. Of course, Bakugou would say something like that.

Kirishima reached out to grab Bakugou’s hand and pull him in because he’d accept whatever Bakugou gave. Bakugou, however, grabbed his wrist before he could and pushed his way inside and shut the door behind him. Kirishima felt his cheeks heat up as his back was pinned to his own door. Bakugou was close, though admittedly not as close as Kirishima would have preferred or expected. His one hand held his wrist while the other the door but his eyes didn’t trail down to his lips like Kirishima’s did. They remained on his own eyes.

This game they played had been going on for years now. They weren't dating, no, neither were bold enough to call it that. They were more than fuck buddies though, that was obvious by the late-night visits that resulted in nothing but tender affection and zero sex. Most of the time it was heated make-outs with in between snuggles and gentle words they weren't brave enough to repeat again.

Each time it ended was like the door was locked, never to be opened again. They didn't discuss it, didn't use it against one another, never even hinted. It was something beyond private. Beyond whatever they had yet to decide to call it. Maybe it didn't need a name but Kirishima couldn't help but want to give it one.

He wasn't bold though, wasn't brave.

“I want more than this,” Bakugou confessed quietly as if they were someplace public instead of Kirishima’s apartment. Kirishima remained quiet as Bakugou debated his words momentarily but Kirishima had a hunch he came here prepared.

Being bold was always Bakugou's job. Bakugou started this long ago with one kiss that turned into a night Kirishima thought about on the regular. One night they never spoke of. One night they kept a secret because they both said things they knew couldn't be taken back, and neither wanted to.

“I know you mean what you say, and I know you meant what you said. You always do even during-..” He trailed off with pink cheeks and Kirishima knew where he was going.

Heated whispers. Declarations of love shouted or moaned. Words often said just because that moment was so fucking good but he was right. Kirishima did mean what he said. He always had.

“You’ve shown me your love,” Bakugou all but whispered. “You’ve shown it time and time again but—but this isn’t enough. I want more than this. I don’t just want you for sex. I don’t want to just have you for one night. I don’t want you to be ready to give up your life for me when we aren’t even—“ Bakugou struggled and Kirishima understood why. They didn’t discuss whatever they were because they just were that and that was all.

“I want you,” Bakugou stressed. “I want to wake up next to you. To come home to you. To have your hand. I—Fuck Eijirou I just want you,” Bakugou exhaled leaning closer as if ready to kiss him but holding himself back still.”

“You have me, Katsuki,” Kirishima told him, sliding the hand down to meet Bakugou’s and lock their fingers together. “You’ve had me. You always have.” Bakugou shook his head as if to argue.

“I know I just—“

Kirishima leaned forward and pressed their lips together in a soft kiss he felt them both melt into. It took every ounce of will Kirishima had to pull away but Bakugou wasn’t so willing to let him go, pressing forward and Kirishima raised his free hand to quickly cover his mouth.

“You want this?” Kirishima asked though knowing the answer. Bakugou nodded, muted by his hand. “Then no more doubts. No more second guesses. I don't want to know your doubts or hesitation.

Kirishima slowly lowered his hand.

“You're going to be the death of me,” Kirishima told him, “and that’s the only way I wanna go.”

Bakugou shook his head, wrapping his arms around Kirishima’s waist and pulled him back in for another kiss.
