Work Text:

Mr. Aizawa stood at the front of the class, his weary eyes surveying the chaos in front of him before calling them to attention. Once they were reasonably organized, he began his announcement, “As I’m sure you’re all aware, Halloween is coming up. Now usually with the threat of villains as relevant as ever, the school would be taking extra precautions. However,” he sighed, rubbing his eyes, “The staff has decided to let you set up a small Halloween fair.” Chaos returned to the class as the students cheered, immediately beginning discussions on what activities they could host.
“Like the cultural festival, you will be creating some form of entertainment. Though this is mainly for U.A. students, it will still be open to the public, meaning we will, of course, be on high alert.” Seeing the students had already begun to make their plans, Aizawa zipped up his sleeping bag and laid in the corner. “Just have plans figured out before lunch.”

Himiko Toga walked around the festival in awe at the sights around her. All of the courses had gotten together to put on different exhibitions and performances, spread out all around the campus grounds. Lights had been strung up all over, while music played in the background. Festive decorations and drawings lined the walls, changing the entire look of the area. Next to her, she saw a pumpkin carving booth that had a student with a sort of saw for an arm helping out participants.

Hearing some cheering behind her, she turned to see Uraraka, dressed in her witches costume, focusing her attention on a broom with a child riding it. She gave a nod to Iida, who began to run around with the now floating broom, the child squealing with delight.
After looking around some more, including a visit from Hatsume Mei, aggressively trying to sell her a pitch to come to the support course’s “Costume Upgrade” booth, Himiko spotted a familiar head of green hair in a ghost costume. Taking a couple of vials out of her pocket, she quickly slinked away into a hidden corner.

“How are you doing, Midoriya?” Izuku turned around to see who’d called for his attention, coming face to face with Todoroki. Shyly smiling, he waved back, “I’m doing great. The festival is doing really well, I think people are really enjoying themselves! I like your costume by the way.” Todoroki looked down at the vampire costume he was wearing before looking back up with an uncharacteristic smile on his face. “Oh, do you? How about this one?” Quickly downing a small vial, his form began to melt away before refocusing as Mina. Deku looked on in confusion as Mina spun around, showing off her vampire costume before her features also melted.

“Or how about this one?” Toga leaned in, whispering into Izuku’s ear. A blush red enough to rival Kirishima’s hair made its way to Deku’s face as he took in Himiko’s true form. “Definitely this one.” Smiling coyly, Himiko began to lean in before, *Click* A bright flash quickly separated the pair apart. The two looked towards the source to see Asui and Tokoyami walking towards them, the former holding a camera in her hands.
Though it had taken lots of work, including constant support from Izuku and Himiko saving a few of the other students, 1-A had begun to trust Himiko and her intentions. “Oh, hi, Tokoyami. Hey, Tsu!” Himiko waved to them as Izuku wished for his blush to disappear. Asui had even begun to let Himiko call her Tsu, an achievement she was most proud of.

Tsu and Toko shared an amused look before facing the couple again, “You two look like you’re enjoying the festival, kero.” Tokoyami nodded along, “Yes, truly having a wonderful time.” Izuku attempted to stammer out an explanation, the blush on his face only deepening before Toga rescued him. “Oh yeah, it’s a blast! Do you guys want to go to any of the booths together?”
Looking around, the group found a nearby “Bobbing For Apples” booth that they all agreed on. “The rules are simple,” a general studies student explained, “With your hands behind your back, you’ve just got to try to get one of the apples out using only your mouth. And no using the stems!” He pointed out sternly with the last point.

Tsu stepped up first, her tongue shooting into the water and pulling out an apple before anyone had a chance to react. Grabbing hold of it and taking a bite, she turned back to her friends, “Well, that was easy.” Tokoyami walked towards the trough, Dark Shadow requesting a turn to bob before he was quieted down. “I will give it my all as well.” Leaning forward, it only took a second for him to pick an apple out with his beak. Seeing his friend’s successes, Izuku walked up with confidence.
Looking down into the water, covered with a layer of apples, he picked one closer to him to aim for. Lowering his head down, he felt his teeth come into contact with the apple, the cold water sending shocks through his entire body. Try as he might, he couldn’t seem to get a good grip on the apple. Coming back up for air, empty-handed, more accurately empty mouthed, he looked towards the booth operator. “Alright, I’ll give you one more try, man.”

Nodding assuredly, Izuku went down again. Identify the target, lock-in, and try to bite! And yet he came up defeated again. “Here, let me try.” he heard behind him as Himiko walked up next to him. Looking over the trough, like a hunter stalks its prey, she decided on her target. In one swift movement, she leaned down and back up again, a shiny red apple hanging onto her fangs. Taking a bite, she handed the remains to Izuku, who stood frozen in place at the speed in which she accomplished the task. Looking down at the apple in his hands, the green-haired boy shook his head to focus. “No fair, I’m at a disadvantage!” he whined, earning a laugh from the group.

The rest of the festival went successfully, thankfully no villain attacks, though Bakugo still managed to threaten random passerby enough to terrify them. “Deku! Himiko!” Ejirou, dressed as a demon, walked over to the couple, Katsuki, as a werewolf, in tow. As Deku and Kirishima complimented each other’s costumes, Bakugo glared towards Himiko. Despite what conclusion the rest of his classmates had reached about her, he still held a strong distrust and dislike of the former villain. Toga shot a glare back, having her own reasons for her hatred of Bakugo after listening to her Izu-kun talk about his past, which earned a growl from the boy. “Bad dog.” chastised Himiko before she sped up to hold onto Deku’s arm.
Walking into the common room, the couple noticed candy being dumped on to the tables. “Ooh, candy!” called out Izuku, already making his way over. “I hope they have dark chocolate,” commented Tokoyami, earning a quizzical stare from Tsu, who argued in favor of milk chocolate.

As Kaminari began dumping more on to the table, Iida ran in with a panicked expression. “What are you doing? Dumping all of this candy, that’s sure to rot your teeth, all over the place, especially when we’ve been told to keep the dorms clean-“ his rant continued on as Toga ran up to the table next to Deku, admiring the entire pile. “Oh, look at this one!” She exclaimed, holding up a sucker with the name ‘Blood Sucker’ written in a bloody font. “This one looks good!” Izuku held up a chocolate bar called Kamui Cocoa, with a drawing of Kamui Woods’ mask next to the title.
Mineta appeared around the corner, one last bag of candy in his hands as he jumped towards the table. “Dig in!” He yelled as he slammed into the candy pile, everyone else beginning to take their picks.

“Ugh, I’m stuffed!” 1-A was sprawled out all over the couches, groaning in the aches of a candy feast. “Too much chocolate!” wailed Dark Shadow as Tokoyami lazily tried to wave him away. Dropping her head into Izuku’s lap, Himiko let out a groan as well, “Those Blood Sucker lollipops didn’t even have real blood in them.” The entirety of the class would have most likely passed out, had the door not then burst open to reveal an excited Iida followed shortly after by an indifferent Todoroki.

“I hope we are not too late!” If Iida noticed the wincing of his peers at his volume, he didn’t show it as he continued on. “After we took everyone’s requests, we have the snacks for tonight’s movie!” Concerned looks were shared all-around at the thought of even more sweets and treats. Curious, Himiko turned to Izuku, “Movie?” Appearing to have forgotten about his recent food binge, Izuku sat up with excitement, “Yeah, for Halloween, we get together and watch a scary movie.” Golden eyes lit up with a new fire as she clapped her hands together, “Oooh, I love scary movies! How about you, Izu?” Though a nervous chuckle and a rub on the neck gave away his true feelings, Deku still put on his brave face. “Yeah, I love them too!” Himiko squealed in excitement, Mina joining her. “Who’s choosing this time?” Mina asked, looking around.

There was a pause before someone from the kitchen area spoke up. “Move it nerds, I’m choosing.” Bakugo made his way to the table in the center of the room, grabbing the remote. After a bit of searching, the movie was selected, and everyone settled into their seats. Himiko settled herself deeper into Izuku’s arms, which wrapped themselves around her. Pleasantly snug, she turned to face the screen, which was beginning to play the opening scene. It started on a quiet forest set at night before a group of characters came running across. The scene started to play out as an ax murderer chased after them, leading them into the house that would be the main setting. Most of the class seemed unfazed by the ‘horror’ aspect of the movie, instead choosing to call out warnings to the characters as if they could hear them. This still didn’t ease Izuku, who was still frightened by the jumpscares, even if Himiko cheered in excitement every time.

As the movie had gone on, with Himiko getting more and more excited with each new fright, thrill, and kill and Izuku getting more terrified, the two ended up more in a ball as they tried to hold on to one another. By the time the movie was coming to a close, Himiko, worn out from the day, began to fall asleep, struggling to keep her head up. Deku soon followed, wanting to see the ending since he’d made it so far, but his fight with sleep also proved fruitless.

As the students made their way to their rooms once the movie was over, Asui noticed the couple in the corner, wrapped in each other’s arms, softly snoozing. Quickly grabbing her camera again, she made sure to discreetly take their picture. Uraraka walked up behind her, taking a look at the picture. “A vampire, huh? Seems a bit on the nose.” She pointed out, sleepily laughing at her own joke. “I think we’ll end up a ghost like Deku if we wake them up, kero.” Asui motioned for the two to head up to their rooms, leaving the sleeping couple on the couch. Himiko smiled in her sleep and whispered to her hero, “Happy Halloween, Izu-kun.”
