Shi Wudu's dark eyes stare up at him, equal parts mocking and furious, but then his glance flickers to his brother and he visibly steels himself. He Xuan hates him for it; he empathizes all too well with Shi Wudu's desire to do anything for the one he loves. Fresh fury blooms and He Xuan wraps his free hand around Shi Wudu's throat again.

god i love shuangshui. love and hate are different sides of the same coin and this ship is an interesting exploration of that. love, not for each other, but for your family; and the willingness to do anything for your family. when you've plotted revenge for so long that vengeance becomes what your identity is made of. jfc, what a good ass fic, a fantastic, canon compliant coda piece to blackwater arc. i absolutely love shi wudu getting humiliated; and he xuan's rage here is so palpable, it's really not the type of rage that can be satiated with humiliation that comes with rape; nor is death enough. lol, sorry for rambling, but yeah this is really, really good. i love bad endings <3
