Chapter Text
There are some places in the world that people would die to live in.
One of those places is the Bangtan Village.
It's not a very, very luxurious one, but it is beautiful there; complete with trees, a lake, a good clubhouse, and the best thing about it is that it is not quite populated. A perfect place to live in if you don't want a bothersome neighborhood. Of course, an affordable village like that would be too good to be true.
The Min family isn't very rich but they managed to buy a house in said village. They previously lived in the shady parts Daegu where there has been... drugs and street gambling more than anything. Mr. and Mrs. Min didn't want their children to grow up in such a negative environment.
The house was very nice, and comfortable. Their only neighbor was the large, expensive looking mansion right across the street. Both were corner lots, and you have to cross at least two streets to get there unless you cross the four-way intersection diagonally.
They never really interacted with that household so there wasn't any problem. It was like a perfect little world.
Yoongi was napping peacefully on his perfect little couch in his room one fine afternoon when his mom barged in.
"Yoongi!"
Said boy jumped awake upon hearing his mother's loud, excited voice. "Wha–"
"You were looking for a summer job, right?!" his mom had a large smile on her face, eyes twinkling with something Yoongi couldn't bring himself to analyze. He was sleepy, and to his sleepy mind, his mom looked almost... manic.
The ravenette yawned and propped his head on his hand.
"Yeah, what about it?"
"Young man, look at me when I'm talking to you!"
Yoongi startled awake once more when his head lolled to the side. He looked at his mom through heavy eyelids. "Yes, mom?"
Mrs. Min smiled. "Well, I found a job for you!" she walked over to sit on Yoongi's bed. His son merely hummed. "This is one of the easiest job I could find, and it pays a lot. It's only for the whole summer, every Wednesday to Sunday. Another advantage is that you don't have to commute at all because it's just within the village!"
Yoongi peeked at his mom over the couch. He didn't know if he was hearing right because it sounded pretty great. It's rare to hear "pretty great" things nowadays. Most of the time, it's a scam. "And what is this job exactly?"
"Would you accept it though?"
"I still don't know what it is mom, I can't accept something I don't know about."
"Well, it's a babysitting job."
Yoongi sighed. He knew it was too good to be true. The teenager rolled over on the couch, ready to fall asleep again. "No thanks, mom."
Mrs. Min stood up in protest. "But Yoongi, you can't be picky. If you don't want the job in the coffee shop, then this is the next best choice. This is the best choice. It pays 60 000 KRW each day."
Yoongi sat up. "Wait, what?"
"I said this is the best choice."
"60 000 a day?"
"Yes," Mrs. Min crossed her arms with a smug look on her face. She got him, she knows it. "You just have to watch over the neiggbor's son and his cousin for the whole day."
"Are they babies? You know I don't do good with babies."
"As far as I know, they aren't. I don't really know, but they sounded like 12 or 13 from the way Mrs. Kim described them."
Yoongi scratched the back of his neck. "I don't know, mom..."
"Oh, come on, Yoonie. You wanted a job, I'm giving you one," she went over to sit next to her son. "Besides, it's a good training ground for you and your... tolerance for people. You're already 19, and I'm gonna be honest with you, you don't make very good decisions when it comes to jobs. Just take it son."
Yoongi wanted to protest but his mom is actually right. He tends to choose the most... non-sociable job, which includes being a dishwasher, a backroom janitor, and other behind the doors job. Not that he thinks these jobs are awful or whatever, no offense to anyone doing well in these jobs, but they don't pay as much as the other job offers he refused because it required interaction with people. His mom would often comment on that but most of the time, she would just shake her head and let him be.
The ravenette sighed. "Fine. I'll take it."
Mrs. Min grinned and hugged his son. "Finally! It's not as hard as you think it is, you might even enjoy it. You can start next week, so you have time to let it sink in."
"But what about my school, though?" Yoongi asked, running a hand through his hair. The whole thing was making him jittery. "It starts again in a month."
"Well, I can talk to Mrs. Kim about that. For now, you'll be watching over her kids from around 10 am to 8pm."
"A whole 10 hours..."
"Yes. You'll do great, they're just kids. You were a kid once, you'll know what to do," Mrs. Min gave him the thumbs up, which Yoongi returned with a smile. She left after a while, and Yoongi migrated from the couch to the bed. He sighs as he dips into the mattress.
It felt quite intimidating, the whole babysitting thing. He'd be working for a very rich family. Their house is intimidating in itself, all big and pristine like that. Their own, a little bit above average house, pales a hundred times next to that huge mansion. Yoongi wouldn't know where to place himself.
The ravenette pulled up his phone, and opened his messages. Their group chat has been pretty active, but it had already calmed down by the time he opened it.

Yoongi groaned upon seeing his friends' most recent chats. They were being crackheads again arguing about random shit. If Yoongi didn't know any better, he would think it's just friendly banter.
No, these two actually acts like a married couple. Most of the time the three of them are together, the attraction between the two of them is so palpable it makes Yoongi want to just up and leave. The worst thing about it is that they still haven't confessed to each other and Yoongi has to act dumb to the other when the other asks. It's all so stupid, they couldn't see how gay they're acting.
Yoongi isn't bitter. He's really not.
Being with Seokjin and Namjoon isn't so bad though. He doesn't feel all that excluded. Instead, the two would treat him like a son. It felt awkward at first because Namjoon is younger than him but they got used to it fast.

Yoongi threw his phone on his pillow after a few more messages. He didn't reply to their private chats because he found it tiring and quite stupid. If they just confessed to each other, they wouldn't have to talk to him.
They wouldn't have to talk to him.
Okay, that didn't sit right to Yoongi. He doesn't want them to ignore him once they get together. That would hurt him a lot. Just thinking about it sends phantom pain knocking on his chest so Yoongi tried to not think about it. Instead, he looked up "how to babysit" on google and further wasted his afternoon surfing the net.
