Work Text:
Fugo feels like he's had the most frustrating day of his life - every sound is scraping against his ears right now, even in the darkness of the Don's office. He wants to sleep but he can't, he wants to peel all his skin off and scream, but he's stuck with his ears ringing and tears building up as he angrily balls himself up into a corner.
Everything wants to hurt him, loud bangs, creaks, scraping like a fork on a bowl - he hates it, he wants to make that known and he will, as he picks himself up and sees the stairs in sight before throwing himself at them -
He's stopped by the Requiem, Gold Experience's now piercingly fuchsia eyes glazed as it stares at him. His breath hitches as he tries grabbing around it, wanting to cry into its shoulder, and it lets him. It even slowly sinks down to its knees, Fugo cradled in its arms as it asks - an entity similar to Giorno but with its own speech pattern entirely:
"Do you need to see him?"
He has to swallow down a noise, not be childish, just breathing out an affirmative. The stand nods briskly in response, suddenly dematerialising and leaving him facedown on the floor, finally starting to curl up again like a sad, sad pill bug. Even bugs are better than him right now - being so fucking childish. He's 19 now! He shouldn't be like this.
Usually, the Requiem barely ever speaks to him unless he's with Giorno; but seeing it go out of its way to just try help him for a brief moment helped. His thoughts shortcircuit when he starts hearing scrapes and other amplified noises once more - just trying to block his ears from his brain trying to fuck him over.
And then he realises, as he gets up again, flinging himself down the stairs after a sudden misfooting - he overworked. He worked so fucking hard, neglected all his needs, that he managed to work himself into a breakdown. Dammit.
He wakes up, not in Heaven, Hell or on the floor - but rather in the room he's so familiar with from admittedly childish sleepovers, to even their first time cuddling non-platonically. Giorno's room, and a body snuggled around him.
Giorno himself.
"You aren't a caregiver to me." Fugo breaks the silence between them, listening to Giorno’s breath catch for a second, like a teenager caught masturbating, as if he didn't even notice Fugo wake up.
"I'm not trying to be one. Or, for that matter, I'm not trying to treat you like you need one."
"What do you think I need?" He asks in response.
Giorno takes a moment to think, idly tapping his chin before responding rather politely: "A warm bath, but tomorrow. For now, all you need is some water, and a cuddle from your boyfriend."
Fugo still blushes at that word, crooked smile forming on his face - the nerves in his mouth from the scars around them, induced by his own stand, are often unresponsive, but Giorno only ever calls him a beautiful man, with beautiful scars, and a wonderful mind. He wishes he could believe that sometimes, and with Giorno he sometimes does. Just from how honestly he says it.
"Sounds nice." He murmurs, before just sighing.
"GioGio?"
"Mm?" Fingers lightly cascade through his hair, calming him down before he then asks - to the angel who loves him through thick and thin -
His mind reconsiders saying it but his mouth is on a marathon - "Am I a liability to you?"
Giorno goes quiet at the question, shaking his head as if Fugo's just accused him of murder. But unlike those who lie in situations as murderers do, Fugo knows Giorno will always mean what he says, whether it's wanting to steal one-hundred cars or that one halloween party they infiltrated where they went in a couple's costume - Giorno really adamant on dressing as a frog prince while Fugo went as a vampire - and where Giorno said they were going to have their first kiss there.
"Panni," Giorno idly strokes platinum blonde strands - voice soft but still that teenager-y tone as if he doesn't know what he's doing, and for valid reason, because Fugo knows someday Giorno'll get tired of him and throw him away and-
"I'm proud of you."
Maybe that's what makes Fugo finally snap into long overdue tears from his inevitable breakdown - the fact Giorno loves him, and he loves Giorno and even if the sky was falling, or the sun fucking exploded - that they'd always love each other through it.
