Work Text:
It had been several weeks since Shinsou and Bakugou had fallen into a relationship, although neither of them can truly remember how they did so. It was comfortable to sit next to each other. They were able to be silently comforting, in a way that no one else were able to do for them.
Shinsou lays back on Bakugou’s bed, a yawn falling from parted lips as he watches the man in question at his desk. He lets out another yawn, his eyes narrowing in his exhaustion.
“I haven’t seen you take a break in nearly three weeks.” he comments, Bakugou turning to look at him, a scowl painting his features.
“What of it?” he turns to face Shinsou, a grin crawling over Shinsou’s face as he takes note of it, opening his arms.
“Take a nap with me… you’re stressed,” his grin widens as Bakugou easily crawls into them, with far less complaints than the first time he did this. He runs calloused fingers through ashy blonde hair.
“There’s better ways to get rid of stress,” he huffs against Shinsou’s neck, relaxing into him.
“And you need to sleep,” he presses his lips against his forehead, “and I’m exhausted. It all works out,” he sounds nearly pleased.
“How are you so fucking tired? You sleep all damn day.” Shinsou shrugs as he closes his eyes.
“I don’t sleep well… nightmares, the like,” he mumbles softly. Bakugou looks up at him, although Shinsou does not notice. He lets out a soft sigh as he continues, “You need to relax sometimes…” Bakugou huffs again.
“I am perfectly--”
“Lie to me again.” he cracks open an eye, “I dare you.” Bakugou falls silent, closing his eyes as he rests his head on his chest again, “Good boy…” Shinsou closes his eyes again, running his fingers through his hair.
“What are your nightmares about?” his voice has gone soft, all bite gone.
“It changes a lot… usually someone I care about is there,” Bakugou lets out a sound, intrigued, “and yes, You’ve been in them before.” he flinches as he hears the lamp going off, not expecting the sound, “Did I not tell you to stay still?” he opens his eyes, meeting Bakugou’s in the dark.
“It’s easier to sleep when it’s dark.” Shinsou relents, shifting a bit to make him more comfortable.
“Whatever you say.” his voice is going softer, he lets out a yawn, “You better still be here when I wake up.” Bakugou laughs, moving Shinsou with his laughter.
“You sleep for over twelve hours,” Shinsou lets out a huff.
“I do not.”
They fall into a comfortable silence; the both of them falling into a dreamless sleep. Shinsou is the first to wake, staring down at Bakugou’s face with a soft smile on his face. The moonlight softens the harsh edges, a smile on Bakugou’s face as he sleeps. Shinsou rubs his back thoughtlessly as he thinks, watching him. What pulled them to each other? What has pulled them together to love one another? Why have they come together instead of any other pairing? He frowns slightly. He does not know, and he has the strangest feeling that he never will. The world just decided that they should be, that Shinsou would be there when Bakugou felt like it was all too much, and Bakugou there when Shinsou felt like everything wasn’t enough. Like he wasn’t enough.
Bakugou shifts and Shinsou smiles, “It’s not morning yet, go back to sleep.” Bakugou, of course, does not listen. He rubs his face as he sits up, looking at Shinsou.
“Why’re you…?” he yawns as he rubs his face.
“Told you I have problems sleeping,” he chuckles as he grabs his face softly, pulling him into a soft kiss, “So, just go back to sleep.” Shinsou thinks he knows, although he does not have the words. It’s a feeling, a want- no a need, that is deep in his soul. Bakugou lets out a whine as he buries his face in Shinsou’s neck. He swears that this man is going to be the death of him one day.
“Don’t wanna leave you…” he mumbles, a blush staining Shinsou’s cheeks at his words.
“You won’t be leaving me, baby,” he runs his fingers through his hair.
“I’ll be leaving you awake…” he mumbles as he presses his lips into his skin, “So I’ll stay awake too…” he lets out a soft laugh as he wraps his arms around him, holding him close.
“Only if you want too…” he presses a kiss onto Bakugou’s cheek. They lay there in silence until the sun begins to rise, the both of them moving out of bed and going to prepare for their days. A kiss pressed against their lips before they part to get ready, Shinsou’s heart light with his affection for his boyfriend. He feels almost refreshed… almost.
