The Best Life Is One With Lots Of Glitter

Summary:

It’s undeniable that Passione is the biggest boyband of the decade— they might just be the biggest boyband of all time. They started as a small local group in Naples in September 2000, and within two years their music was on the radio everywhere.

But who are they really? Passione’s story is as much the fans’ accounts as it is the band members’ themselves. Let's take a closer look.

In honor of Passione’s self titled album’s release date being announced, I want to bring attention to my collection of old Passione content that new fans should see. These aren’t the same ones as I included in the primers that I’ve written in the past. Most of the videos and transcripts I have are old interviews that I’ve downloaded and reuploaded to my fansite. You’re well aware of how La Squadra takes down anything that they don’t like. I’ve been able to save most of the iconic moments, mostly from Passione’s earlier days.

Please be careful where you share the link. I’ve been able to keep my site from La Squadra for a while and I don’t want to have to deal with their lawyers again.

How did you get the piss interview?? I’ve only ever seen that video of the fan recording the screen with her phone camera.

Yeah, for the longest time, that was just about all I could find. There was another clip of the interview but it was only about a minute long and it started after Mista told the interviewer about what Abba did. And of course, La Squadra found that two years ago and took it down. But I found another recording of the whole interview after doing some serious digging. The quality was awful and it was ONLY the audio, but I took the time to transcribe it as best as I could.

You are a god among fans.

THE INFAMOUS PISS INTERVIEW

Valentia: Hi, it’s Valentia from Hot College Radio and today we’ve got a pretty new name in music here: it’s Passione! You may have heard them from their self-released EPs— we can’t get enough of them on our station, so we’ve invited them here! Thanks so much for coming!
Bucci: Thank you for having us.
Mista: And thanks for playing our music! It means a lot!
Valentia: Can you guys all introduce yourselves for anyone new to you who’s watching?
Bucci: Yes, of course. I’m Bruno Buccellati.
Cia: I’m Narancia!
Panna: Pannacotta Fugo.
Trish: Trish Una.
Abba: I’m Leone Abbacchio.
Mista: Guido Mista, but just call me Mista.
GioGio: Giorno Giovanna. It’s a pleasure to be here, Miss Valentia.
Valentia: No, I’m super excited to have you here! You guys feel like one of those bands that are going to go so far! I feel so lucky right now!
Cia: Ah, I hope we go far!
Mista: Me too.
Trish: Mm-hm.
Valentia: You’ve signed with La Squadra though, so that should help, right?
GioGio: Yes, we’re grateful for their support. Thanks to them, we’re working on—
Abba: Hey! Giorno!
Panna: We’re not supposed to talk about that.
GioGio: Right. I apologize.
Valentia: Oh, you’re working on something? New music, I’m hoping!
Bucci: Maybe. We’re always writing music, of course.
Valentia: Of course, of course. Okay, I don’t want you guys to get in trouble. How about we talk about what you’ve done so far? You just finished up a European tour, how was that?
Trish: Very nice. We got to meet a lot of people.
Cia: It’s amazing hearing people sing along to our songs! I’m shocked every time!
Bucci: It’s very encouraging talking to the people who come to see us. Their energy is inspiring, and it makes me aspire to do even better.
Valentia: That’s awesome! Any fan encounters stand out as particularly memorable?
Cia: I love it when people invite us out for dinner after! It gives us a chance to talk with them and hear more about them!
Panna: Learning more about our fans and their stories is important to us. It reminds us that they're not just numbers, they all relate to our lyrics in very personal ways.
Mista: Plus we get to eat!
[they all laugh and talk over each other for a bit]
Valentia: So do you have any other fun stories from the tour? Or just in general, I guess?
Bucci: Stories…
Mista: Oh, you want crazy tour stories?
Valentia: Yeah! Anything you’d be willing to share!
Trish: Oh, Abba, there’s the one you told me recently.
Abba: Which one?
Trish: That morning when I couldn’t make it to practice. It’s old but—
Abba: Oh.
GioGio: You told Trish?
Abba: Most everyone already knew, so—
Bucci: What’s going on?
Trish: Does Bruno not know it either?
Mista: No, Bruno was out of the room when it happened.
Abba: Bruno doesn't need to know—
Bucci: What are you keeping from me? Leone?
Abba: I’m sorry, Bruno.
GioGio: Why are you apologizing to him? I was the one who—
Panna: Abbacchio, I don’t think that’s appropriate for the radio.
Cia: What? Which one?
Valentia: If it’s too much, I can censor it? Or we can move on to something else?
[sorry they’re all talking over each other a lot here but I got what I could]
Abba: The thing is, Giorno needed to know his place. He was acting cocky and I hate that.
Trish: And tell us how you decided to do that.
GioGio: Okay, before you—
Mista: He made him drink his piss.
[chaos again, Cia is laughing so loud and Panna is yelling but its hard to make it out]
Bucci: LEONE!
Abba: He didn’t have to do it!
GioGio: Oh, you made it quite clear what you’d do if I didn’t.
Mista: I still think you had some kind of trick.
Trish: I wonder if knowing that you did that will make the fans realize you’re not as cool as you present yourself.
Mista: No, Giorno’s still too cool.
Valentia: Oh my god… I don’t know if I can release any of this. Giorno…
Cia: You should!
Bucci: Leone, I’m disappointed.
Trish: Oh, you’re in trouble now.
[I think Bucci and Abba actually left the room here, because there’s some noises that sound like they got up and left and they don’t talk for the rest of the interview]
Valentia: I’m so sorry, I can—
Cia: No, this is the funniest interview we’ve done in forever!
Panna: I think we might have overdone it, with that. Miss Valentia, we should talk about something else now.
Valentia: Right. Well… how about… Your songs are all very meaningful— that’s something that really stands out to me. Even the fun ones, they all have a very clear and emphatic message. Is that something that’s very important to you?
Panna: Of course.
Trish: We’ve got a lot to say, and with music, we can do that in a way that reaches people.
Valentia: But is it harder with more people? There’s seven of you.
GioGio: Not necessarily. We’ve all got our own visions when it comes to writing, but as a group, I think we all manage to come together, song by song. Sometimes, the message of a song is better told by a certain person, and we only add whatever input or support is needed to help. For example… we all worked together to write Star, but Trish was the main visionary behind Spicy.
Valentia: Trish, you wrote Spicy? That’s my favorite song of yours!
Trish: Thank you. Yes, it’s a very special song to me.
Valentia: Wow! How about we play that song now! Anyone listening who’s just now hearing about Passione, here’s a taste of the talent they’ve got!
[they play Spicy]
Valentia: Alright, I’ve got to apologize to our listeners— we’ve almost run out of time. No more questions, unfortunately, but I want to take this time to thank these wonderfully talented musicians for coming by! You can hear them on Hot College Radio, and I’ve got no doubt that you’ll be hearing them even more in the future! Thank you all so much!
Cia: See ya!
Mista: Thanks!
Trish: Goodnight.
