He'd always known his destiny. In dreams, in prayer and in entrails he had seen the same thing, time after time. Fate had chosen him and him alone to rule above all others, to rise through blood and strife until he finally reached the Court and took his place on the long-empty throne.
That was his destiny. Until he broke the sigil, and invoked the wrath of the things beyond. Or their interest, which was far worse.
But perhaps... that was also his destiny. Another trial on his road to glory. Another test. Or, perhaps, if he was cunning and clever and played his cards just right, an ally...
