A heavily pained scream from a young brunet man rung out in a broken down hotel, dust covered everything like a thick blanket. Everything but the freshly made, vulgar grave that leaked a sickly red puddle of blood out from under it. It was enough to make the man puke, and because he was going through so many emotions, puking now wasn’t unlikely.
The copper stench of blood began to fill the air, although the young man didn’t care and stayed. It was as though it was impossible for him to move, and if anyone tried to take him away he would refuse to leave. He’d fight to be able to stay beside the cross made from crumbling rocks from the ceiling, the sun peeking in illuminating it and making the situation much worse.
“I’m sorry.. I was too late for you..” the man spoke, his voice hoarse from the screams and cries that left his mouth. His throat hurt so badly as if he had swallowed fire and it was burning through his esophagus. A woman nearby, who had been named Lisa Lisa, shook a bit while she attempted to light a cigarette, tears streaming down her face, although she was quiet. Her hair shading out her eyes and even then she had sunglasses on which covered the fact that she was crying and that she did have more emotions than blank, bold, and serious.
The man looked up, wiping the tears from his eyes so he could look around. He looked at Lisa Lisa, then up at the destroyed ceiling, then back down at the puddle of the sticky crimson red substance underneath his shoes which had seemed to soak into them. He felt disgusted, but then he was angry at himself for feeling like that. He shouldn’t disrespect Caesar like this.
The brunet blinked, looking up and gasping. He noticed something floating in the air, similar to the crimson red bubble that held Caesar’s precious headband, and the lip ring freshly torn from Wamuu’s bottom lip. It was tinted pink but clearly freshly made and Joseph covered his mouth. He stood up fully, following a trail of tinted bubbles. Where did they lead? He didn’t know, but part of him had hope.. hope that these were Caesar’s bubbles and that Caesar was really alive. It was all he could cling to at this time, the only thing giving him comfort.
”Please.. c’mon, please be safe.. please Caesar..” He begged to himself, speaking quietly under his breath while he clung onto the headband for dear life as if he would die if he let it go. He got close to the end of the trail, it led out to a hole in the wall small enough for him to fit into if he crouched and crawled around. He sucked in his gut, crawling through the small hole in the wall and rolling out into the snow. The snow that seemed to be dyed red in a puddle around.. someone.
Joseph brushed the snow away from his eyes, shaking his head to get rid of the rest of the snow on his face and head. He opened his eyes to see and look around, and then turned back when he noticed the bloodied snow and the source of it.
Oh my God.
The blonde coughed, adding more to the pool underneath him, but he was alive and that was all that mattered. Joseph instantly perked up, tears welling in his eyes as he ran over on his knees to give the other man a hug.
“Caesar! We thought you were gone!! You scared me so much, I’m so sorry for everything. I shouldn’t have said that shit about our families, and I should have gotten to you sooner. I thought about myself at that time, and I feel so bad. Caesar, will you forgive me?” The blonde’s eyes struggled to stay open, and he couldn’t seem to talk, though he had nodded while he wrapped his sliced up arms around Joseph. They were going to scar over, but he didn’t mind. Scars were cool, and they might go away eventually.
Caesar’s vision began to go dark. He wouldn’t be able to pull through without help at this point, and Joseph screamed for Lisa Lisa while he continued to hold Caesar, who still smelled pleasantly of a sweet soap that smelt like fruits. Lisa Lisa came quickly, but in a way that was clearly suitable for the type of person she was. She had no emotion when she noticed Caesar was alive, but Joseph could sense she was utterly happy and also terrified at the same time.
An ambulance didn’t take much time to get there, and while Lisa Lisa continued to arrive and fight the pillarmen or whomever came in their wake, Joseph had accompanied Caesar on the ride to the hospital. He couldn’t understand what the people were saying, except for a few French words here and there which had made him even more concerned. He didn’t know what was going on, but he held Caesar’s hand as his grip started to loosen.
“No, no. Don’t you let go Caesar, I can’t lose you again.. please.” He begged, bringing Caesar’s hand to his face until they pulled him out of the ambulance on a stretcher, and led Joseph into the hospital with him.
When Caesar opened his eyes again, he could feel the many bandages that were littered around his body. His limbs felt kind of tight and in pain as if he had a billion paper cuts littered all over them. He moved his head to look around, the light in his room turned off and the door closed as well. It was mostly dark, minus the soft lighting from the heart monitor, but Caesar liked it that way.
He looked to his left, the side without the drip attached to it, and noticed a sleeping Joseph beside him, still clinging onto his hand from when he was in the back of the ambulance. That was around the time when Caesar had passed out, but he knew he wasn’t going to die. He wasn’t going to die on Joseph, because, he loved him. He wanted to be there for him for as long as he could, and this amount of time was way too short.
“Jojo... Thank you.. for being here with me..” He smiled softly, closing his eyes and running his fingers through Joseph’s hair. Joseph smiled, opening his eyes and giving Caesar a kiss on the forehead.
“Thank you. For being safe and leading him away. You’re always so much more clever than me! Woow! But I should tell you something.” He felt his heart pounding in his ears as he looked up at Caesar’s sweet face. His scars made him look even cooler.
“Caesar, I love you..”
”I love you too, Jojo.” He smiled softly, kissing Joseph’s head and then closing his eyes to sleep.
“Now goodnight. Sleep well my darling.”
