Summary
The Gem War is over, many centuries past. Earth—the Nightmare Planet—is nothing but an awful rumor for most Homeworld Gems, but the resource crisis is very real. On one distant outpost, Pearls deemed "defective" face constant danger under hard labor conditions. But even the most compliant Pearl is not quite an empty vessel, and not all the stories of Earth are fearful.
