Work Text:

‘Yes, it’s Christmas. Thank God it’s Christmas.’

The faint music from the speakers was still on repeat as you slowly stirred awake from your sleep. Blinking your eyes, you winced at the bright light that was shining through the curtains. You sat up to find yourself on the couch, your back still aching from the bent position you slept in.

How long had you slept? Probably not that much, you thought to yourself as you rubbed your temples and tried to relieve that pang in your head. That fourth glass of wine was a mistake, a mistake that seemed all too inviting.

Looking around, you couldn’t bear to look at the mess that was your house. The trash and tinsel that were littering everywhere with a several glass bottles lying on the ground hinted at what happened last night. You weren’t sure if you were more annoyed or relieved that all the people who were here last night were now gone, leaving you alone to clean up the mess.

You made your best effort at getting up and scanning your eyes around. At least there was nothing damaged from what you could see and the Christmas tree was still up. You sighed as you remembered how someone got drunk and crashed onto the tree last year, very successfully breaking at least half of your ornaments.

Inspecting closer, you narrowed your eyes at the box that didn’t seem to be there the last time you checked. One of your guests must have left it here before they were gone.

(Now here comes the question, which one of these presents was the one under your tree?)

A simple brown manila envelope. (At the bottom of the envelope, there was a small logo of the local radio station)

A black plastic bag that was taped shut at the opening. (Whoever left this here, couldn’t you at least put a ribbon on it?)

A thin, squared box that was very nicely wrapped. The small tag at the ribbon hinted that it was bought at a department store. (Looks like someone got it wrapped at the service department)

A long cylinder that was wrapped in washi paper. (You did not even need to open it to know who this was from)

A cubic box with very, very colourfully illustrated wrapping paper. (Wait, you didn’t know that they make All Might wrapping paper???)

A very irregularly shaped object that was wrapped in bubble wraps with a yellow bow on top. (Who the hell uses this many tape on wrappings?)

A white envelope with several randomly done doodles on top in black markers. (That… that is a Pikachu, right?)

A long, stick-like thing in black wrappings with black ribbons on top. (That is a skull imprint, you were sure that those were leftovers from Halloween)
