Work Text:
Kirishima hasn't kissed anyone since middle school and that was well over a year ago. Like many other hormonal driven teenagers, he too has days where he craves a little affection and intimacy. But school keeps him busy especially since his grades aren't the best and his classmates seem to get ahead of him, so getting into dating and finding a boyfriend is off the table for now. He doesn't have the time to commit to a relationship and give his partner the attention they deserve. But hey, if fuck buddies are a thing why aren't there also cuddle or kiss buddies? A little practice for when things get serious can't harm either, right? He'd like the idea to impress his future boyfriend with experience. But who should he ask? There are actually quite a few boys in the class he wouldn't mind kissing.
In the end he decides to pick Todoroki. With all due respect, Todoroki is so oblivious he wouldn't assume that Kirishima has ulterior motives. He won't judge him either for wanting to kiss somebody without real attachment, but simply because he is needy. Plus Todoroki seems totally uninterested in romance stuff, so he won't accidentally develop a crush on him. Kirishima wouldn't want to break someone's heart just because he is looking for something casual at the moment. At the same time Todoroki doesn't strike Kirishima as a person that is romance or sex repulsed either, so he won't make him uncomfortable with his special request.
Kirishima is lucky and Todoroki agrees despite being confused and surprised by the sudden approach. But when Kirishima uses a little white lie and asks him to help out a bro with kiss practice Todoroki complies. It makes him happy to be considered a friend by someone other than Midoriya and Iida, and to be seen as a friend that could be trusted and relied on. Furthermore Todoroki has his own curiosity as to why everyone around him makes such a big deal out of kissing. Why is it that, whenever the boys are among themselves, Kaminari concerns himself with whether or not his classmates have already had their first kiss? Or why was Uraraka suddenly floating under the ceiling that one time Ashido talked about a theoretical kiss from Midoriya? He might as well go ahead and kiss Kirishima to find out if he would suddenly set himself on fire.
They now sit in Todoroki's room, face to face without saying a word or moving an inch. Todoroki stares patiently at Kirishima, waiting for anything to happen, but Kirishima's initial confidence is gone. Upon questioning, Todoroki had just told him that he'd never kissed anyone before, yet he doesn't seem to be nervous at all. He is not shy about it or anything. He’s totally unfazed by the whole situation. Kirishima is smitten by so much manliness. So much that he’s the fidgety one now.
"Can you... can you close your eyes?"
Todoroki does so silently.
Much better.
Kirishima feels much calmer as he leans forward. He gets distracted by Todoroki's long white eyelashes on his right side for a second. They are quite endearing, and Kirishima smiles when his lips finally touch Todoroki's. He kisses his upper lip once, twice, tentatively, then his bottom lip. Todoroki just... lets it happen as if he was deciding whether he likes it and wants to proceed or rather likes to stop here. At the fourth peck Todoroki finally reacts and meets Kirishima, copying his movements. Upper lip twice, bottom lip once, before they part. Todoroki opens his eyes again. He didn't set himself on fire. Or Kirishima — which would have been worse. But his question why everyone freaks out about a simple lip-to-lip contact wasn't answered. What about it made people nervous? Nothing bad had happened. Kirishima even smiles at him and asks for another kiss. They keep it chaste and shallow, and after a few minutes Kirishima leaves. This should keep him sated for a while, he thinks to himself until he finds himself in Todoroki's room again just three days later, lips slotted together.
At the third time he comes over for kisses he uses his tongue, nudging Todoroki's lips until they part and moves further to touch the tip of his tongue ever so slightly. It startles Todoroki, making him withdraw with a puzzled look on his face, and Kirishima spends an awkward moment explaining that this is supposed to feel nice and deepen the bond between lovers. Todoroki internally wonders what's so great about swapping saliva, but much to his own surprise he soon finds out that Kirishima is right. Kirishima's tongue is warm, and the little nudges make him feel excitement lighten up deep inside his stomach, and the way his tongue strokes and massages his has Todoroki feeling fuzzy. Each time the tips of their tongues bump together, the teasing sends sparks through his brain before Kirishima slides back into his mouth. What's not so nice is getting so excited that his own tongue gets caught on pointy teeth as he tries to slip it into Kirishima's mouth. The salty taste of blood leads to a sudden end of the kiss session. But also to soft lip nibbling on the next when Kirishima shows him how carefully he can use his teeth as he pulls Todoroki's bottom lip into his mouth to gently suck on it. By now Todoroki doesn't question anything new Kirishima introduces to him during their practice.
Kirishima finds it hard to keep up the disguise. Todoroki's lips are so nice and soft, and he seems to be really getting into this. So much that sometimes his quirk goes a little wild, and the temperature of his mouth switches between warm and cold within the blink of an eye. One second his tongue is warm and wet when he lets it slide into Kirishima’s mouth. The next second after catching a quick breath it comes back in cold. He doesn’t always realize it, but when he does he has the cutest, surprised look on his face, backing off as if he did something wrong until Kirishima assures him that he didn’t. Kirishima finds it oddly satisfying and honestly adorable that even someone as composed as Todoroki is capable of losing a little control of himself and his quirk. And not gonna lie, experiencing his temperature play firsthand is quite… thrilling. It shows that he takes practice seriously, still eager to help out a friend in need. So Kirishima comes back for more, and slowly they have slipped into being kiss buddies for real even when none of them calls it that. They feel comfortable with each other. The kisses get more intimate. Hands start to roam. When they sit on their knees in front of each other like they always start, Eijiro reaches out to take Shoto's face into his hands, running his fingers through his hair before pulling him into a kiss. Shoto's hands come to rest on Eijiro's waist, drawing him closer and onto his lap, then sliding around and up his back to take him into a full embrace. It happened so naturally that they both stop for a moment to look at each other, eyes wide, only to dive back into a deep kiss a second later cause fuck, this feels great. In the back of his mind Eijiro decides to wear his hair down the next time because he wants Shoto to trail his fingers through it too.
Kiss buddies is a great concept. Whenever he feels lonely or frustrated Eijiro searches comfort in Shoto's kisses. However, a small voice starts slipping into his conscience, asking him if he is using Shoto. Is he seeing him to make himself feel better? To satisfy his needs? Is he being egoistic? Or does he genuinely love kissing Shoto, and just him alone? Could he just replace him, find another kiss buddy or wouldn't it be the same anymore? Before this started Eijiro briefly had been worried that Shoto could fall for him, yet he never considered the other possibility. But he has no crush on him, has he? That would be ridiculous haha... unless?
Kirishima hasn’t kissed Todoroki for two weeks, ever since he started feeling guilty, and thought that a break might help him sort out his own feelings. He is none the wiser yet and decides to let things slip. Todoroki doesn’t say anything either, so they go on about their daily lives as if nothing has happened. It was supposed to be casual and temporary anyway. Kirishima is grateful that things aren’t awkward between them now. That has been one of the reasons why he chose Todoroki in the first place. However, he finds himself dumbfounded when the class hangs out in the living room of the dorms the following Saturday night, watching a three hour long All Might documentary on TV. Todoroki takes the seat on the couch next to Kirishima in the space left empty by Bakugo, who had left for his bed five minutes ago. Todoroki sits just a little too close. Kirishima feels him leaning in and when he turns his head Todoroki’s lips land on the corner of his mouth. They both pull back at the same time, confusion written all over Kirishima’s face.
“I didn’t mean to,” Todoroki apologizes, but Kirishima can see the silent question in his eyes.
“Here?” Kirishima asks as he gets really nervous. “Why?”
Todoroki has never made the first step until now and they aren’t even alone in one of their rooms. Kirishima shouldn’t be surprised when he gets a blunt, nonchalant answer.
“Because I want to.”
A wave of gay panic washes over Kirishima, like holy shit, could it be possible that he is not the only one who can’t keep this casual anymore? There he has the answer to his own conflicted feelings that were tormenting him for the past few days.
“I liked it, and I’m missing it,” Todoroki continues. His face doesn’t really mirror the feelings his words convey, but he means it.
Kirishima looks around in the dimly lit room. Over half of their classmates are still there with them, but everyone’s eyes are glued to the TV since the documentary reached the first clash of All Might and All for One and the first time that the No. 1 Hero defeated the villain. He turns his head back to face Todoroki who still waits patiently like he always does. It’s kinda adorable. He can’t let him wait longer. Eijiro leans close and Shoto meets him in the middle. They let their heads fall against the back rest of the couch as they melt into each other and further into the cushions. Any noise they make as the kiss becomes deeper and more passionate is drowned out by All Might’s boisterous laugh on TV. When Shoto puts his hand on top of his, Eijiro squeezes it tightly, neither letting go of the other’s lips.
The next morning Kirishima is in the dorm’s kitchen to get a protein drink after his workout routine. When he closes the door of the fridge, Mina suddenly stands next to him.
“Someone sure is in a good mood this morning,” she sings, looking at him with big, curious eyes and rolling back and forth on her feet.
Kirishima just flashes his teeth in a smile and gives her a thumbs up as he flexes his biceps, not catching the tone in her voice as he puts the bottle to his mouth.
“So you’re playing cool after playing hot last night?” Mina teases.
Kirishima almost chokes on his drink.
“Don’t worry, you know I can keep your secrets.” She grins widely as she puts her index finger to her lips in a ‘shh’ gesture.
Kirishima lets out a puff of breath through his nose, but smiles back at her. He knows that he can trust her despite her enormous interest in her classmates’ love lives. On his way to the boys’ bathroom someone close to him suddenly speaks up.
“I saw everything too,” he hears Hagakure’s voice whisper.
