Work Text:
jimin and taehyung, taehyung and jimin.
jimin repeated their names quiet a lot of times, wanted to see how it sounds together; if it sounds cute, bad or even weird - he came to the conclusion that it indeed sounded cute, and that they would be cute together, too.
they met at a party a few months ago, a party jimin didn’t plan on attending at all, he supposed it would be one of those dumb teenage parties where everyone’s gonna hook up with someone at some point, just soon enough after the alcohol took control of their body and mind, and the beats of the music made them feel careless.
but actually, it was the opposite.
the party was chill, there were about 6 people, and he knew everyone one of them, except for one boy who’s got blue hair and the most beautiful boxy smile you’ll ever witness in your life.
jimin thinks he fell for him the second the boy smiled at him.
the strangers smile had something charming, something warm, something that told you whatever you’re going trough will be fine, it felt like home.
this sounds so cliche, maybe the most cliche thing you will witness all day, but jimin really couldn’t care less about it - he’s his own person being, no one is supposed to care about what he thinks, at least not as long it’s his business.
and this was definitely his business, it may be forever his business alone.
jimin couldn’t stop thinking about the blue haired boys smile all night, even when they were in the same room, almost sitting next to each other. their friends were busy discussing which kind of music they wanted to hear, stealing the remote from each other and throwing it around, meanwhile taehyung noticed jimin staring at him, which caused him to blush and grin.
when jimin realized taehyung knew he looked at him for the past 15 minutes, he was about to look down in shame, just shortly before tae asked if he wants to have a smoke with him on the balcony, which the elder guy gladly agreed to.
“i am, uh, sorry for staring at you. by the way, i am jimin”, jimin blurted our shyly as he took out his cigarette package out of his pocket. taehyung watched every move with sparkling eyes.
“i am taehyung! nice to meet you, jimin. honestly, it made me feel flustered so i am fine, really”, taehyung responded smiling. his boxy smile made jimin relax and smile, too.
they spent the rest of the night talking about anything that got into their minds, and probably with smoking too many cigarettes.
at some point it got so cold that jimin started freezing, which lead to taehyung giving him his black coat and holding jimins hands just long enough for them to be warm again.
a few months later jimin invited some friends over to his place and of course, taehyung was invited too.
the boys got really close in the past weeks, met up several times: they went to art museums, saw new cities and even more, more than they will remember when they’re old.
jimin enjoyed every second with taehyung and wished their time together would never end (it ended way too fast).
—————————
most of jimins friends went home around 2am, meanwhile taehyung stayed for the night and spend it snuggled up next to jimin.
taehyung got the habit of hugging a pillow when he’s asleep and jimin thought of it as adorable - a big, tall, grown man hugging a pillow because it comforts him. so god damn adorable.
to be honest: jimin would be lying to himself if he said that he didn’t think of taehyung as endearing, regardless of what he did. he lost his heart faster than he would ever like to admit and he hoped taehyung will pick it up and give him all the love and affection jimin wants so badly. he craves it.
yeah, it’s not like they didn’t cuddle already or held hands (tae was amazed by jimins soft skin) - but this was simply not enough for jimin.
jimin craved kisses, kisses everywhere possible. he craved taehyung coming home to him after work, coming home to his favorite dinner. he wanted taehyung in every romantic way possible.
and at some point, it started killing him.
he was almost sure about taehyung feeling the same towards him, almost told him about his feelings for him.
only almost.
the last time they met, taehyung told jimin about his new boyfriend and he seemed so happy, he was all giggly and his eyes looked like he caught a beautiful night sky and tattooed it on his iris.
it broke jimins heart. very deeply.
of course he was happy for taehyung, taehyung deserved nothing but happiness - he truly did - but after all that has happened, jimin was so convinced about his beloved friend feeling the same towards him.
as soon as jimin was alone again, he cried. a very lot. he never cried this much in his life before.
his heart was broken by taehyung, and the latter probably doesn’t even know about it. jimin isn’t sure if he ever wants to tell him either.
all he knows is that he needs some distance from taehyung in order to deal with his feelings. and this hurt him even more - he knew he would hurt tae with not wanting to meet him anymore, but he also knew seeing tae would make the heartache worse.
