Izuku was happy that Ochaco's birthday and Christmas were only two days apart.
That meant that there were two days in close proximity in which he got to spend time with his best friend and show his appreciation towards her.
He had always been grateful to her since he felt that she's always been by his side/always saved him whenever he was in need.
He still vividly remembered the day of the entrance exam in which she saved him from certain death as well as the time she saved him from his own quirk going awry.
Truly, she was a big part of his life and he wanted to thank her for that.
On Christmas, it seemed that fate was on his side when the two had received each other's gifts for white elephant.
Ochaco received the All-Might plushie he had chose as his gift while he in return received Mochi chips from her. It made his heart flutter since this was the first time anyone other than his mom had gifted him something, albeit it wasn't 100% certain who would get who's gift.
So, here he was on the night of December 26 in which he was currently in the dorm kitchen alongside his classmate Sato whom he had asked prior for pointers on how to bake a cake.
Sato's quirk specialized in sugar consumption so it was only natural that the guy was a master baker. Sato eagerly accepted Izuku's invitation to the kitchen since he hadn't baked in a while and also for the possibilty that he wouldn't be the only person being bothered to bake sweets when it was all said and done tonight.
So, for the better part of the night, the two worked hard and played with many different ingredients. Sato was impressed that Izuku was such a fast learner, but he guessed that he shouldn't be surprised. The guy was a tank and could probably kick anyone's ass so this was probably the least surprising takeaway he had found about the boy, albeit it was still surprising.
In the end, Izuku had settled on baking a good old fashioned strawberry cake for Ochaco. He would have gone with Mochi since he knew it was her favorite, but he didn't have a pastel lying around in the kitchen and it would've made too much noise anyways.
And so, as he put the finishing touches on his cake, he thanked Sato, placed a cake keeper on top of the finished product and made his way towards his dorm room to catch up on some sleep before the clock struck midnight.
In the land of dreams, Ochaco smiled.
