Work Text:
It was a chilly, unpleasant day in Seoul, South Korea when Park Jimin stopped in front of his school wherein he's currently a Freshman. It has only been two months since his first day, but it wasn't as exciting as he imagined.
He sighed and gripped his backpack tightly, he even bit his lip out of nervousness. He said, "Another day, another hell to survive."
As he stepped inside of his classroom, the loud noise created by his classmates became silent. Jimin quietly went over to his chair and kept his head down, not wanting to see his classmates' faces. As minutes passed, he heard whispers and chuckles from his behind. He confirmed that those chuckles were all because of him when he turned around and saw the two boys' faces laughing.
Jimin didn't react, though. It's as if he's used to it. He took out his book and continued reading his favorite book about Mythology.
"I heard that his parents got divorced a few weeks ago," said one of the boys pertaining to Jimin.
He didn't expect to have these kind of classmates--the gossip types--because he's enrolled at an all boy school. Normally, these are only done by the girls. But since there are no girls, it's a surprise for him to discover that even boys can be nosy at times.
"Really? So that's why my mom got a divorce case awhile back. You know, my mom is a great lawyer."
Jimin pretended that he didn't heard that. He's just recovering from that painful dilemma in their house and now it's been spread at school.
"Poor boy, he doesn't have any parents now!" Another boy laughed.
Every day, it has been hell for him. Every single day, there's a new issue that points out to Jimin.
And it really gets into his nerves all the time. But the worst part is, he can't fight back. Why? Because he's disciplined well. His mother taught him to forget this that aren't worth remembering.
The next day, it's the same dull day for him. But the thing is, the bullies became worse than before. They teased Jiimin for being alone, and without parents.
"Yoongi, let's take a break from teasing Jimin. It isn't good," one of the top students, Namjoon, finally said.
It's as if Yoongi didn't hear a thing when Namjoon told him to stop, he continued picking on Jimin and even pushed his bag in front of him.
He needs to fight back, really. But Jimin just can't. He just forgave everyone that makes fun of him.
Day by day, Jimin's life looked the same. He comes to school, sits at the back of the room, and ignores the world. Until that one day came to his life that he never wanted to forget.
"Mom, who is he?" Jimin just came down from his room, ready to eat breakfast and go to hell again--and what Jimin means by that is school.
Jimin's mom looked fidgety at first, but she then awkwardly smiled and held the arm of the man wearing an apron.
"Oh, sweetie, this is Lee Dong Wook. He's my new boyfriend-"
Her son's brows furrowed as she covered her mouth, looking as if she's about to vomit. She rushed towards the comfort room which made Dong Wook panic.
When both of his parents got their divorce over a month ago, Jimin stayed at his mom's place. Knowing that his father already has a family on his own while still not separated, Jimin couldn't stay on that man's house. He hated him, obviously. Now he only cares about is his mother. But maybe that's only until today.
"You're pregnant." Jimin stated. It wasn't a question, because he's seeing right in front of his eyes the evidence. A boyfriend and his mother vomiting.
"Honey, I'm just tired from work," she awkwardly smiled. "Do you want to eat breakfast now?"
"Forget it, you're not my mom. I don't have a family." Jimin brushed away his tears and quickly went out of their house.
He became numb. All he felt was pain, hatred, and sorrow deep in his heart and he doesn't know what to do. Life has always been fun and joyful for him. He had many friends, his family is complete, and he has a good life even if he's introverted. But ever since he stepped into high school, everything has changed. Rumors started to spread that his father is seeing another woman. Another parent also said that Jimin's mother is seen at a far cafe enjoying a date with a young man 5-6 years younger than his mother.
But he couldn't believe all of that. Not until the day their parents finally decided to divorce.
Jimin's happy life became sorrowful. The bullies then attacked him for looking like a psycho and most especially because of his parents.
He didn't attend to school for a week. He locked himself up inside his room and only gets out by dawn.
As he finally enters the room after his long absence, the bullies again went to him.
"Looks like you never had enough sleep and food after your father remarried, just one month after having a divorce?" Adonis, one of their classmates, spat those words with confidence.
"Can you just shut up? Don't talk about my parents," Jimin said.
They all looked surprised after hearing those words from the boy that they are bullying.
"We'll definitely talk about your parents because they made a trash in this world which is you," Taehyung said calmly from afar while lazily sitting on his chair.
"I said shut up!" Jimin's voice rose up and he even stood up out of anger. Everyone became silent, but Yoongi on the other side grinned and shook his head.
After the class has been dismissed on that day, Jimin left early out of frustration. Everyone else stayed inside the classroom. It's his first time to burst out his anger. Maybe because his problem at home plus now that his bullies have been crossing the line.
"That pathetic nerd-looking loner should have a taste of his own medicine," Yoongi cracked his neck and roamed his eyes around his friends—Taehyung, Seokjin, Hoseok, Jungkook, and Namjoon.
"You better watch out where you're going, Yoongi. Sometimes you need to control your anger." Hoseok uttered but it didn't even changed Yoongi's decision.
All of them bought the materials that Yoongi had said the day before he planned to prank Jimin in front of the student body. Two buckets, flour, food color, and glue. "Time to make the loser shut up this time," Yoongi laughed.
Jimin didn't realize that he's been sobbing the whole time he's on his way to school. But he stopped when Seokjin went in front of him, while holding a bar of Snickers on his hand.
"Sorry for everything." Seokjin sighed and gave him a small red box.
Jimin sniffed and eyed Seokjin. "What's this?" He asked.
He knows that Seokjin is one of Yoongi's friends who bullies him every single day. Now that he's in front of him, it seems surreal, knowing that he said he's sorry. Plus, he's even handing over a small box that looks like a gift.
"It's our way of extending our sincerest gratitude." Seokjin munched all the Snickers left on his hand and smiled at Jimin.
Jimin wiped away his tears and opened the box. It looks like a red alarm, so Jimin curiously pushed it and figured that it was. A bell from afar rang and he looked at Seokjin. The latter stepped back after hearing it, which made Jimin shot his brows up.
"Sorry." Seokjin waved his hand.
And as if on cue, a mix of glue and brown colored water was poured onto Jimin from the second floor of the building. Many students were laughing and even recording the scene from their phones. A few seconds flew by, a bucket of flour was poured again and it made the laughs even louder.
"You look disgusting, loner! You don't belong here!" Hoseok laughed after saying those hurtful words.
Jimin's look became darker. He clenched his fists and breathed heavily. "Stop the crap."
Some students stopped laughing but the five boys who are involved in Yoongi's prank still did not stop.
"I said, cut it out!" Jimin rushed towards Hoseok and punched him directly in the face. Others' eyes were wide open after seeing Hoseok's jaw become bloody.
The whole floor became chaotic. Jimin was out of control. His introverted image became blurry to others now that they are seeing a different kind of Park Jimin. He doesn't seem to look like the person they knew. It kind of looks like he's a different person.
The five other boys went up the stairs to get away from Jimin. They did not expect to be that scared now that Jimin looks like a demon while punching Hoseok.
Jimin went up as well, trying to keep up from the others. He's really eager to beat them up because he's sick of all the words he's hearing from them. His system is full of rage. His face looked furious than before, and it made the other boys shiver with fear.
When they reached the rooftop, all of their eyes widened when they saw Jimin holding a Swiss knife. "I already told you calmly not to mention my parents, right? But what did you do? You just ignored all of it! What am I? A ghost?!"
None of them spoke, but Yoongi stepped forward and grinned at him. "You deserved all of it."
"What did I ever do to you?!" Jimin screamed.
Namjoon, Jungkook, Seokjin, and Taehyung looked down and saw Yoongi's shirt turning red.
"Blood." Jungkook whispered and shifted his look to Jimin’s eyes.
Jimin took back his knife and turned to the others, eyes still full of rage and satisfaction, now that he's taking his sweet revenge from his bullies.
Blood pooled the rooftop, and it made Jimin shiver as he stares at his hand holding a knife with some blood on it.
He stabbed his classmates.
"I-I didn't... I d-didn't do it..." He stepped back, seeing Yoongi's eyes half open.
"Mr. Park!" He heard the voice of the Principal from afar but it only made Jimin step back even more, guilty and afraid of what's really happening.
"I s-swear, I didn't do it!"
Screams were heard as Jimin came to the edge of the rooftop and pushed himself until he fell.
As he's eyes only sees the clouds from above while he's about to fall from the solid ground, flashbacks from his life started to appear on his mind. Precious memories were once again visible. His birthday celebrations with his parents, the memories that his father gave him while they are out of town, and the first time he made friends back in kindergarten but he couldn't remember their names.
Before he fell from the ground, his mind quickly processed everything. He opened his eyes and realized... he killed his first friends back in kindergarten.
Too late. Everything's too late. His strong desire to vent out his anger because of his life problems turned into a disaster. His life that was once happy now turned into dust because of his depression and anger.
All he ever wanted is to have a peaceful life, but the world doesn't want to give it to him.
