"baby," katsuki mumbled into eijiro's back as he turned onto his side, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend(?).
"are you saying that as an insult, or as a pet name?" eijiro laughed quietly, glancing back at the sleepy blond, who squinted at him through his mess of hair.
"both."
"oh? am i your baby?"
eijiro was testing the waters. up until now they just - had sex and left. this was probably the most affection katsuki had ever shown to him, besides the obvious. the pause between his question and the anticipated reply was so long that he almost thought that katsuki had fallen back asleep. this was proven false, however, when he felt the arm around his waist slowly retreat onto the opposite side of the bed. katsuki sighed. the noise was too calm for the anxiety fluttering in eijiro's stomach.
"do you want to be?" katsuki said.
"what?" eijiro rolled over to face the person he was talking to.
"do you want to be my- my baby, or whatever?" katsuki's face reddened with embarrassment. "my boyfriend?" eijiro felt a smile bubble up inside him, and before he knew it he was beaming.
"really? but what about-"
"don't say his name. not here."
eijiro nodded. his smile faded. "okay." he had his own problem to deal with. until then, he was happy with staying right here in bed next to katsuki. it was a sanctuary for him, really. for both of them. sometimes the fact that katsuki was here made him sad, like a crushing kind of sad that collapsed in on him because he knew how she would react if she found out what happened when she wasn’t there and he knew how everyone else would look at him if they found out too.
it’s not like she wasn’t a good partner, but eijiro couldn’t bring himself to tell her that he’d stopped loving her- or that he’d never loved her in the first place, not romantically. he wasn’t even sure if he’d ever felt romantic love; what he had with katsuki wasn’t love in any sense of the word.
sometimes it was a pretty good imitation, though.
"fuck, now i need a distraction." katsuki said, glancing at him. his gloomy voice reminded eijiro that he’d probably been thinking about the same thing. they were both in the same boat, probably one of the reasons why they had been attracted to each other in the first place.
"i'd be happy to provide that." eijiro said, leaning over to kiss katsuki. “baby.” he added, almost as a joke.
“you’re the baby.”
