Make Me Worry

Summary:

Shouto wrapped his arms around Inasa in an attempt to comfort him, even if it should technically be the other way around. He had been the one injured after all, right? But he knew how sensitive Inasa is to this type of thing, and honestly, he didn’t mind. Just hugging him sort of made him feel better.

Work Text:

The streets were filled with blockades by the time Inasa made it to the center of where the blast hit, his eyes roaming over the rubble searching for any civilians that may require aid. There were several pro heroes helping to move the rubble, looking for any injured people that may be trapped beneath it. Stepping forward to lend a hand, he spotted the Creation hero, Creati , one of his boyfriend’s best friends. The same boyfriend who was supposed to have been with her at the time Shouto had called him.

Creati had just passed a little girl to one of the medics, the small child crying while clutching a teddy bear in her tiny arms before Inasa made his way over to the raven-haired woman. Only upon closer inspection, could he see the injuries that littered her arms, the streaks of blood from the cuts that adorned her skin sent shivers down his spine. Creati glanced up upon his arrival, a sad look overcoming her features and Inasa knew he isn’t going to like what she would say if he had asked the question that was burning in his throat.

Inasa ,” she greeted, not bothering with the formalities of using his hero name, the tiredness evident on her face, “I’m sorry.”

The wind user’s eyes widened as tears slipped from her eyes.

“I-I tried to stay and help him, but he forced me to save the little girl instead.” Momo let out a sob and covered her face with her hands. “I shouldn’t have left him alone.”

“What happened?” Inasa asked without demand, knowing she would have never left Shouto behind unless she absolutely had to.

Slowly composing herself, she spoke softly, “Shouto and I headed up to one of the buildings to check for anyone that may need help, and we came across that little girl,” she gestured with her head towards the ambulance that drove off before she continued, “but at the same time, the villain that caused the explosion happened to find us on that floor as he was running away from the police and some other pros. I quickly made a shield to protect the girl but Shouto protected us with his ice, telling me to take the girl and run.”

Inasa placed a hand on her shoulder, a sign that he didn’t need to know the rest. He knew how Shouto is, the fire and ice user is as selfless as he is stubborn when it came to taking on the danger by himself. Something that Inasa and he have argued about on several occasions.

Momo stared up at Inasa as the wind user smiled. “I will find him.” He promised. “I just need to know what location you last saw him in.”

Momo nodded and rattled off the location that she had left Shouto at, hoping deep in her heart that Inasa could find him in time. Momo is devasted to have left one of her best friends to fight alone, she can’t imagine how Inasa is feeling right now, he loved the fire and ice user with every fiber of his being.

Both of you, please come back safely.

The area was absolutely destroyed, smoke and dust from the debris-filled his lungs when he landed through the window of the building Shouto had last been seen in. Using his quirk, he used the air currents to sweep dirt up into the air to cover the small patches of fire that lingered on the ground, before blowing the smoke away from the vicinity.

“Shouto!” He bellowed, hoping the fire and ice user could hear him, but the silence only made his heart hammer in his chest, almost as if it were about to burst.

Shouto! Where are you?!” Inasa tried again as tears pricked his eyes. “Dammit, don’t do this to me.”

He sprinted forward, looking down corridor after corridor, not spotting that familiar red and white hair that he had come to love so much. There’s no way Shouto could go down, not like this and not by some low villain garbage. He’s alive, Inasa knew it, he just had to be.

“Shouto!”

The sound of something shifting caught his ears and he skidded to a stop outside a hallway, the walls had been cracked, pieces falling to the floor in a pile, leaving room for Inasa to slip through. The wind user glanced around at the destruction; the lingering spikes of ice sent his heart into his throat before he moved forward. Just then, a white boot caught his eye behind some of the concrete and he had to stop himself from running, just in case the floor below him had been weakened by the battle he was sure had happened here.

Falling into a pit would make him useless to Shouto . Not to mention, his boyfriend would never let him hear the end of it if he had. He smirked. Just the thought of Shouto’s teasing made his heart feel light.

When the rubble moved, the red and white hair coming into view stopped his approach, his eyes filling with tears at the scrunched up look on the fire and ice user’s face. He is obviously in pain but Inasa couldn’t help the joy he felt at finding him alive.

“Shouto!”

The loud booming voice made Shouto turn towards the wind user, he managed a weak smile at his boyfriend before a hiss escaped the male when he shoved the concrete rocks off of himself. Placing a hand on his side, he wasn’t surprised to feel wetness seeping through his jacket and he had to suppress the urge to sigh at having been wounded so easily.

Inasa didn’t hesitate to throw off his hat and kneel by him, a worried expression creasing his eyebrows.

“You’re hurt?” Inasa inquired knowingly and reached out to touch the wound, flinching back a bit from the wetness he felt.

When Shouto groaned in pain, tears began leaking from Inasa’s eyes. He isn't accustomed to seeing Shouto in this state. What is he supposed to do?

“Hey, what are you crying for?” Came Shouto’s voice, pained but the hint of teasing was there.

“You’re hurt,” Inasa choked out as he scrubbed at his eyes furiously. “It’s all my fault, I should have been here to protect you!” He reached out to lend a hand, unsure if he would only make things worse.

Despite knowing that Shouto had been severely injured in the past, this was the first time Inasa had made it onto the scene before he had been taken by the paramedics. He had always arrived when the fire and ice user had already been treated or bandaged up and on the way to the hospital.

Inasa , I’m fine,” the red- and white-haired male promised as Inasa leaned forward, pressing his forehead into Shouto’s shoulder and inhaling the smoky scent that always seemed to linger on his body. A scent that could always calm him down.

Releasing a breathy chuckle, Shouto wrapped his arms around Inasa in an attempt to comfort him, even if it should technically be the other way around. He had been the one injured after all, right? But he knew how sensitive Inasa is to this type of thing, and honestly, he didn’t mind. Just hugging him sort of made him feel better.

“Hey, I’m the one that’s hurt, I should be crying.” He said as a joke.

Inasa pulled away to give a watery smile. “Well, I guess I’m crying enough for both of us!” He cried with a laugh.

As if suddenly remembering that Shouto didn’t give himself this wound, he glanced quickly around the area and spotted another body lying on the ground, not far from where they were. “Is that him?”

“Yeah, he’s just unconscious.”

Turning back to the wounded male, Inasa held out his arms, signaling for Shouto to allow him to pick him up. With a tired smile, the fire and ice user didn’t hesitate to accept Inasa’s help, thankful for the assistance in standing up since his legs had started cramping the longer he sat on the ground.

“Let’s go home.” Inasa smiled, his heart feeling lighter than when he began his search .

“Love that idea, but I think a hospital should be our first stop .” Shouto smiled .

The wind user blushed and stuttered out an agreement before carrying his boyfriend out of the rubble. But not before utilizing the wind currents to lift the villain from the ground to remove him from the area as well. Despite what the man did, Inasa wasn’t heartless enough to leave a man to die should the rest of the building crumble beneath their feet.

And that’s what Shouto loved the most about him.

“Ouch,” Shouto cursed before he slapped his boyfriend’s hand away from his side.

“Come on, just let me check it!” Inasa demanded, no real anger in his tone as he reached for Shouto’s side again only to have the fire and ice user slap at him again.

“It’s fine,” Shouto stated with a roll of his eyes, “you know it’s not going to get better if you won’t stop picking at it.”

“I know that but-”

Inasa , please.” Dual colored orbs stared at Inasa and the big guy instantly gave in to his plea.

“Fine, but I get to check it tomorrow.” The wind user pouted and crossed his arms, starting at Shouto who was currently getting dressed in casual clothes so they could meet up with Momo and a few of their other friends. Most of whom wanted to see Shouto to see how he was doing and to give hugs to Inasa for rescuing their friend.

Shouto sighed but smiled nonetheless. Yes, Inasa could be overbearing at times and would be the first to cry at the sight of an injured loved one, but he wouldn’t have him any other way.

“Come on, you’re going to make us late.”

“No, I’m not!” Inasa assured him. “If you had just let me check your wound-”

Inasa just shut up.” And Shouto kissed him.

Despite loving the feeling of Shouto’s lips against his own, Inasa couldn’t help reaching out a hand to try and touch his wound once more.

“Don’t even think about it.”

Busted.
