Work Text:

The building they were in was dark. Eijun clung tightly to Chris’ sweater sleeve as he shuffled close behind him.

“Did you hear that?” whispered Eijun as he clung even tighter to Chris’ arm. Chris could feel the blood stop flowing from his arm - that was how hard Eijun was clinging on.

The hallway they were traversing through gave way to medical tables dripping with blood, a dead body on the slab, multiple medical instruments littering the walls and counters.

Eijun let out a loud yelp and hid his face onto Chris’ back. There was a doctor there, with a scalpel in one hand and a beating heart in the other, dripping with blood. Chris let out a wry smile at Eijun’s antics. They shuffled through the room, giving the surgeon a wide berth. Eijun didn’t lift his head even once, content in not seeing anything else here.

The surgeon stepped right behind Eijun.

“What’s the rush?” they asked as they leaned as close as they could to Eijun’s ear. A shiver of fright went up Eijun’s spine and he shouted, let go of Chris and just ran as fast as his feet could take him.

Eijun could hear Chris shout his name but he was not about to stop. He ran past werewolves and vampires, old hags and aliens, creepy dolls and clowns, all in a blind panic until he made it out to the exit.

The day was a bit chilly, considering it was late October, and the sky was dark. He wrapped his arms around himself. He could hear his name called out and he tried to say that he was ‘here’, but couldn’t make his voice come out louder than a whisper.

Chris finally found him and immediately wrapped him up in a tight hug. Eijun hadn’t realized that he had been crying, the tears frozen on his face. Chris pulled him against his chest, letting him smother his face against the warm sweater.

“Why didn’t you tell me you hated haunted houses?” asked Chris, a smile in his voice.

Eijun sniffled.

“I thought that if I was with Chris-senpai then I could handle it,” Eijun whimpered out. Chris ran a hand through Eijun’s brown hair, soothing his boyfriend’s fears. Chris shook his head in wry amusement.

“Well, maybe next year we can just go and pick pumpkins instead. That seems safer,” offered Chris. “Now come on, let’s go get you something warm to drink.”

Eijun let go of Chris and smiled up at him, his tears completely gone now. “Okay!”

End.
