Break off a piece of your heart

Summary:

The High-End incident, but they are actors who are too emotionally invested in their roles.

Work Text:

“Cut!” The director shouted, “That’s a wrap for now!”

Ashes and smoke filled the air but the people on the scene were quick to move, running from one place to another. In the middle of all of that, Keigo still held on tightly to Enji, the ringing in his ears hadn’t stopped yet and everything felt like it could turn to hell any moment. An arm wrapped around his shoulder and Enji stood up straight again, taking his body mass off of Keigo’s side.

“You’re okay?” Keigo looked up to the concerned eyes of Enji. He felt the arm around his shoulder tightened when he couldn’t muster the strength to answer. Keigo breathed in deeply and put a hand on top of Enji’s hand, stopping him from calling for help. When the man looked at him again, Keigo just shook his head. Enji pressed his lips together but said nothing, just led Keigo through the crowd. Keigo could faintly hear Enji assuring people on their out but couldn’t really make out what the older man was saying.

The whole way, Keigo’s body was on autopilot, following Enji’s step, led by the arm still wrapped around his shoulder. Only when a cup of water appeared in front of his face did Keigo realize he was sitting down. Accepting the cup, Keigo sighed and looked around. By the look of it, this was Enji’s van, parked outside the studio. Enji was standing at the door of the van, talking to someone outside. Keigo took a gulp of water, his heart still pounding in his ears. The door to the van closed. Keigo looked at Enji.

He was now holding a box of something, Keigo thought there was a “makeup” label stuck to the side of it. In a few strikes, Enji was next to Keigo and sat down beside him.

“I’m removing your makeup,” Enji said, rummaging inside the box. Keigo wasn’t worried about Enji doing this. The man had been an actor long enough that something like removing makeup shouldn’t be a hard thing for him. The person outside the van Enji was talking to earlier was probably their makeup artist, and Keigo felt guilty for making the staff get worried about him. Then a warm hand held the side of his face while another wiped down his face, taking the makeup and the dirt on his face with it. Enji’s brows furrowed in concentration, thin lips pressed together tightly, the hands on his face were gentle. They sat in silence, the only sound in the air was their breathing.

“Let me help you,” Keigo said as Enji finished with his face, reaching for the box. Enji let him take the box, but before Keigo could do anything, the older man pulled him onto his lap, leaving no space for argument but gentle nonetheless. Keigo felt a smile start forming at the corner of his lips and settled into a comfortable position on top of Eiji. Time passed in silence again as Keigo worked on Enji’s face. He ended with a light kiss on Enji’s lips. Enji took that as a cue to start peppering kisses on Keigo’s face, his forehead first and his lips last. Keigo sighed into their kiss, his heart finally stopped pounding in his ears. They stayed like that for a while, exchanging soft kisses and hugging each other.

A knock at the door pulled them back to reality. Keigo heard Enji grunted and chuckled, Enji was resembling Endeavor more and more by the day. Or maybe he had always been similar to Endeavor and that was why he got the role. Keigo didn’t know but he would go as far as to say he was similar to Hawks to a certain level. Keigo got off Enji’s lap and headed for the door. The staff jumped when she saw Keigo was the one to open the door but soon enough, a look of relief crossed her face.

“Oh my, how are you feeling?” The staff asked, fidgeting with her name tag.

“I’m feeling much better now. Sorry for making everyone worry.” Keigo smiled at her, hoping it looked assuring. Another staff run to them, intentionally crashed into the staff in front of Keigo and hugged her from behind.

“I’m here for the makeup kit!”

“Wait a min’, I’ll take-” Before Keigo could turn around, a hand came from behind him with the box.

“Is there anything else?” Enji asked, his body almost touching Keigo’s.

“We’re just planning to go eat now. Filming will resume tomorrow since today’s been an exhausting day for everyone.” The staff that came later answered, she took another look a Keigo and Enji before smiling, her smile reminded Keigo of a Cheshire cat, “I’ll just tell them you two are resting and will have dinner on your own.”

The small chuckle from Enji showed that he was quite pleased with her offer, he pulled Keigo inside while nodding at the girls before closing the door. Keigo could hear their chatter as they walked away from the van.

“What do you want for dinner?”

Keigo felt rather than heard Enji asked him, as the older man had buried his face into the top of Keigo’s hair. He leaned his head on Enji’s chest, greedily breathed in the older man’s scent.

“Anything’s fine, as long as it’s with you.”
