I Feel The Destiny In You

Summary:

The moments directly after Namjoon has asked Jimin to marry him.

(Candles, wedding talk and so much fluff.)

Notes:

I was inspired by this Mondler moment in Friends.

(Happy Early Valentine’s Day!)

Work Text:

‘Park Jimin, will you marry me?’

The words keep floating around his mind as if they’re part of a fever dream, his eyes glancing to the side as he watches the platinum band catch on the flickering candlelight once more. He’s surprised he can see the glinting band, for the past hour he's been unable to see through unshed tears of happiness and the sheer force of his never ending smiling.

At least he thinks it's an hour, his sense of time has completely vanished since Taehyung threw him through their apartment door,  almost slamming it shut behind him in his excitement. Jimin flabbergasted as the only thing visible in front of him were hundreds, if not thousands , of candles flickering in the night air that surrounds them, the moonlight shining through the blinds. And Namjoon kneeling on the floor looking up at him with a small nervous smile, his dimples still shining through.

He flexes his left fingers slightly, obstructed by Namjoon’s fingers intertwined with his, the band still there, still glinting up at him in the candle light.

He feels a new wave of unshed tears as he buries his head away once more in the fabric of Namjoon’s soft cashmere jumper.

They were currently wrapped around one another, music softly playing in the background as they sway with one another. Namjoon had told him Yoongi had spent months working on the perfect playlist for tonight and had already bagged the role of music maestro at the wedding. Jimin’s not sure when that became an official role, but he’ll accept it, because he was marrying Namjoon.

Marrying Namjoon .

He choked on tears once more, burying himself away, hearing the slight stutter of breath and movement above him as his hair tickled the underside of Namjoon’s chin.

“Was that a good sound?” He feels, and hears, the rumble of the voice above him, his arm tightening around his back and somehow pulling him closer.

Jimin can’t find the words to respond, so he only nods his head dramatically before lifting his head to place a kiss at the dip of the V in his jumper.

“I know we’re going to have to go outside Korea, to you know… get married, but… i just really wanted something, some kind of recognition that we're going to be together forever… I know we will be … but I don’t know… I just… I really want to call you my husband.” He lets out a small chuckle and kisses the hair upon the top of his head.

Jimin bites back a smile at his future husbands over explanation of things, squeezing him tightly as he nods his head.

“I love you.” He manages to croak out his first words since the small, but huge phrase ' yes ' spilled from his lips all that time ago.

Namjoon giggles softly, nodding his head. “I was so nervous.” He admits, the hand that was wrapped around Jimin’s waist coming up to play with the small hairs at the back of his neck for a moment, before sliding back down to land at his waist.

“I wouldn’t have said no.”

“I imagined every scenario. You saying yes, you asking if we can wait, you not being sure, you just saying outright no. I would have been fine with any, this is your decision as much as mine.” Jimin smiles at his ever devoted boyfriend, fiance he silently corrects himself, ensuring his needs are met at any moment. “But…” He sighs. “... I really wanted you to say yes.” He laughs despite himself, squeezing their intertwined hands.

“I have been hinting for months Joonie.” Jimin giggles, his voice finally found as he talks to the love of his life.

There’s a beat of silence above him, the other man's body frozen as he takes his words in. “You.. have?” He whispers.

He finds himself giggling as he nods. “The Gay Wedding & Marriage Magazine didn’t just appear out of thin air - I waited months for that issue to arrive and then careful placed it in the coffee table when I knew you would be coming home from the studio.”

“That was you ?!” He barks out a laugh. “Oh no." He cringes slightly. "I may have convinced Yoongi that was Taehyung… He might be... planning things.”

Jimin throws back his head giggling before snuggling straight back into his spot at Joonie’s neck. “It’s fine, Taehyung will say yes.” Jimin waves his hand flippantly. “I'm guessing he knew, and wanted to be involved some way?” He questions the way Taehyung dropped him at the dorm tonight.

The older one nods above him. “He saw me looking at rings.” Jimin’s eyes open and fall again to the sparkling band on his left ring finger. “For his silence I had to have his thoughts on any and all rings, plus give him a rap solo in one upcoming song.”

Jimin giggles, his eyes falling closed once more. “He played you. We swore not to spoil any engagement plans for each other when we both were 16. We wanted the surprise.”

“You could have told me!” Joon squeaks out. "I also had to do his laundry for a week!"

Jimin shakes with silent giggles as he imagines Tae lauding the information over Joon's head. “I'm sorry baby, but also, I have to stick with Tae on this, he deserves that solo.” He kisses Joon’s sternum in sympathy.

Their bodies go back into a silence swaying with one another, the two of them just enjoying their silent time together as their bodies stay wrapped around one another. Every now and then a lyric would catch Jimin and he would find himself singing softly, Joon’s arms tightening each time as he listens intently.

Jimin’s eyes focused softly on the candles surrounding them, his eyes watching on of the flames dance in the air around them. He smiles softly at the amount of effort that was put into making the moment perfect.

“I’m hoping you didn’t burn yourself too badly when lighting the candles.” Jimin whispers.

He feels a head shake above him. “Jin and Hobi banned me from being near any open flames. I laid the rose petals on the bed.” He nods, proud at his small task.

“There’s rose petals on the bed?” Jimin squeals, his eyes glancing down the long corridor that leads to all the members bedrooms that they use when not in their own apartments.

“I wasn’t supposed to spoil that.” He watches as Joon’s face cringes in slight disappointment. Leaning up he kisses the pout away, nibbling light on his bottom lip before pulling away.

“So that’s everyone knowing with the exception of Jungkook?” Jimin slips his arms out of Namjoon’s watching as a streak of disappointment runs through his eyes before its lost again as Jimin’s arms wrap up around the back of his neck, his fingers playing with the hair at the name of his neck.

He smiles softly as he feels Namjoon’s arms wrap around his waist, his hands landing softly at the dip of his back.

Namjoon shakes his head. “They all know.” He dips his head sheepishly. “It wasn’t my fault!” He clarifies quickly. “Well, some of it was…”

“I’m not worried, it’s cute they all wanted to make this moment special for me.” Jimin places his hand softly on Joon’s cheek, watching as the elder leans into it, his eyes fluttering closed.

“Yoongi knew, because of course Yoongi knew.” Jimin nodded his head in understanding, he already knew Yoongi had the title of Namjoon’s best man wrapped up with a silver bow on it.

“Taehyung saw me looking at rings and refused to leave my studio until I told him why I was looking at mens engagement rings.” Jimin giggles as he imagines Taehyung standing in front of the door defiantly. Annoying joon by pressing random buttons on the piano until he gave in and spilled all his secrets.

He had seen it happen before and it truly was always a sight to behold.

“I wanted Jin’s opinion on how best to decorate the dorms, which Hobi overheard.” He cringes. “So that was.. That was my fault. I wanted you to have the opportunity of telling Hobi.”

Jimin automatically shakes his head, cooing at Joon’s disappointed pout. “No. No, I would rather him be involved.”

Joon nods, closing his eyes as if taking the words in. “Jungkook was an interesting one.” He bites his lip. “He was becoming annoyed at the secretive talks happening behind yours and his backs. I was so lucky you didn’t notice.” He giggles. “I came into our room one evening when you were out with Taemin or something, he was sitting on the bed with his arms folded and a scowl across his face.”

Jimin giggles at the mental imagine.

“He had somehow put all the pieces together that I was planning to break up with you and he wanted to ensure I wasn’t going to break your heart.”

Jimin lets out a small but soft gasp, his heart softening once more for their heart of pure gold maknae.

“Needless to say once I explained the actual situation and he hit me round the head once or twice for not telling him. We spoke at length about the proposal. He wanted full creative control of the wedding photography and video.” Jimin opens his mouth to speak. “Which I fully declined because I knew you would want to give him an official role in the wedding, but I did tell him he could do whatever he wanted on his own time, and he could film our engagement party.”

“This is why we make a good team.” Jimin mumbles, leaning up to kiss his fiance once more.

Fiance .

This man was going to be his husband .

He didn’t realise he had said the words out loud until he heard a small laugh above him, his body being crushed into the other. A bunch of kisses being placed against his hair.

“You’re going to be my husband.” He grins, dimples glowing in the candlelight and Jimin races up to kiss them before he even registers what he’s doing. His heart exploding into a thousand butterflies.

Jimin gasps in a sudden realisation. “I get to plan a wedding.” He squeals, rushing forward to connect their lips once more in his excitement.

“Did you forget that part?” He laughs.

“I was more concentrating on the you finally being my husband part - not the whole, suits, and flowers and invitations-,” he gasps “- and rings !”

“You can pick whatever you want, as long as me and Yoongi have full control over music.” Jimin giggles.

“Like I would take that away from you.” He rolls his eyes. “Just put a few SHINEE, Taemin and Twice songs on there and you won’t hear a single complaint.”

“Deal.” Namjoon leans down to peck his lips. “And maybe we could even have our first dance to Serendipity?” Namjoon muses quietly, a hopeful flint to his eyes.

“I don’t know why that’s even a question.” Jimin giggles, his hands sliding up to drown in Joon’s hair. “Either that or we record a duet.” He shrugs.

Namjoon hums, his shoulders shrugging as he thinks it over. “I kind of like your version.”

Jimin pokes his nose, followed by his dimple, before folding his fingers back into Namjoon’s thick hair. “Nope, duet.”

“Are you already becoming a groomzilla, or whatever the male equivalent is?” He says the words fondly, his eyes crinkling at the joy of thinking about their own wedding.

“Uhuh, good luck putting up with me.” Jimin leans forward to connect their lips once more.

“Is it too late to back out?” Jimin can feel the breath of Namjoon’s words, surrounded by his giggles, the elders smile brushing against his own lips.

“I have a ring on now, you’re stuck with me.”

Namjoon breathes heavily, his shoulders sagging in what could only be described as relief. “How the hell did I get so lucky?”

“I ask myself the same question.” Jimin shrugs, before burying himself away into Namjoon’s neck, his lips planting a kiss against his weak spot, smiling as he hears the catch in his breath at the sensation.

“My sister knows.” Namjoon mumbles into his hair.

Jimin snorts, his head shaking. “Is there anyone that doesn't know?”

“Your brother and parents.” He nods, thinking of their close friend group. “And Sejin, maybe… I'm not sure. We had a weird conversation the other day where he wished me good luck.”

Jimin finds himself giggling, too excited and happy to remotely be bothered at Joon sharing his news.

“I was excited, and nervous. I talk too much when I’m those two things, and when you’re involved I gush even more.”

Jimin jumps upward at the other man, his legs clasping around his waist, giggling as Namjoon stumbles to catch him. He connects their lips once more. “We’re getting married.” He mumbles against them.

“We are.”

“And no one knows I’ve said yes.”

Namjoon shakes his head. “Which means I get the pleasure of shouting ‘I said yes’ and showing this beautiful ring off.” He waves his hand in front of Joon’s face.

“You do.”

“Then I don’t need anything more.”

He connects their lips once more.

“Now help me blow out all these candles and then take me to bed.”

“Jin is a hero and is willing to do that for us with one simple ‘yes or no’ text.”

Jimin jumps down from his position, pulling Joon into a ridiculous selfie pose, his left hand on prominent display as he smiles into the camera. He sends it to the group chat with a grin etched into his lips.

Hobi Hyung (23:40)

Two days?!

... Typing ...

With that Jimin switches his phone off and grabs Namjoon’s hand in his.

“Two days?” Namjoon laughs as he is pulled along behind the other man.

“I have a lot of ideas Joon, don’t worry.” Jimin raises his brows before pulling Joon onto the bed on top of him, the rose petals flying into the air around him, making the whole moment more magical.

“Most of those revolve around weddings and me spending money, don't they?”

Jimin grins, winking. Not answering the question before he drags their lips together.
