Work Text:
In the beautiful wisteria garden, song birds sang gently. Completely oblivious to the drama that was taking place.
Among the powerful pillars, a young demon slayer was on a trial. Tanjirou struggled against the rope. He needed to save his sister but this was her fight.
But! But! Nezuko is my kid sister!
A silver haired swordsman, called Sanemi was striking down at the box that Nezuko was in. Her choked cries and anguish filled the peaceful looking garden.
The powerful pillars of the demon slayer Corp only stood and watched. For they already have passed judgement on Nezuko.
Child or not, she was infected.
And ones who had succumb to the sickness must be put to death.
With two children on his side, the master of the demon slayer Corp stood silently. Tanjirou swore he wanted to head butt the scarred pillar who was hurting his sister; his last surviving family member.
“NEZUKO!!!! GAAAHHHH!!! YOU GET AWAY FROM HER!!!”
Nezuko was pulled out from her box and she struggled against the smell of blood.
It was such delicious smell and caused her to drool against the bamboo mouth piece.
If he could, Tanjirou wanted to break free from the rope. However, his body had sustained too much damage from his battle with Rui. And the spider venom was still inside of him. As Tanjirou painfully groaned, a pillar who had tears constantly running down on his face remorsefully spoke to Sanemi.
“Can you not see the pain these children are in? Do not prolong the suffering. Set his little sister free from the curse. We must help the boy to move on.”
Sanemi smirked and held his blade up high.
“Don’t need to tell me twice Gyomei!”
Tanjirou cried out and struggled against the burning rope.
“NOOO!! DON’T HURT HERRR!!!”
But then, a new voice interrupted.
“Wait.”
Standing beside Tanjirou was Giyuu and he was as calm as ever.
“Oyakata- sama. Please forgive me for my tardiness.”
The founder nodded toward him.
“Giyuu my child, I’m happy that you have made it. I am far from offended, although I am curious. You aren’t the type to be late. Could you explain?”
Giyuu respectfully nodded.
“Of course Oyakata- sama. But before I do….”
Turning his cold gaze forward, Giyuu’s tone became harsher.
“Sanemi, move away from the girl.”
Sanemi’s eyes became wilder as he gripped onto his katana.
“YOU PLANNING TO CHALLENGE ME YOU BASTARD?! HOW ABOUT YOU COME AND FIGHT ME? HUHHH????!!!”
Before he could attack, Sanemi quickly turned toward Kagaya and spoke in respectful tone.
“Of course, I would have the battle somewhere more appropriate Oyakata- sama.”
Kagaya nodded, not out of agreement but of acknowledgement of Sanemi’s consideration.
“Thank you Sanemi my child. But I don’t believe a fight will ensue.”
Giyuu steps aside and another pillar walked forward. His hair and eyes were as bright and vibrant as the sun. His strides were confident and smile to match it.
The sound pillar, Tengen crossed his thick arms.
“Oi Rengoku! You’re back? I thought you won’t show for another month!”
Rengoku stood straight and let out a bursting laughter.
“Ha ha ha! I wasn’t expecting it either! But Giyuu insisted that I come to this trial.”
His presence was energetic, warm and confident. His smile put ease to even the most intense pillar swordsmen.
The water pillar added.
“This is why I was late Oyakata- sama. I had to fetch Rengoku. Out of everyone, Rengoku would understand Tanjirou the most.”
They all glanced down at the young demon slayer who was still tied down on the floor.
Tanjirou didn’t know what to make of it. Could he trust this flame pillar?
Rengoku drew his sword out and with a quick slash, he freed Tanjirou.
“Stand up Tanjirou my boy. Let me have a good look at you!”
Tanjirou winced as he stood, but he found his footing. The flame pillar closely observed Tanjirou with intense gaze. When he found what he was looking for, Rengoku bowed respectfully to Kagaya.
“If you will let me Oyakata-sama, I’ll guide this boy and his sister. I see great potential in them.”
Tanjirou’s eyes widen. He was thankful to the stranger but there was a knot in his throat and prevented him from talking.
Holding his head back up, Rengoku smiled at Sanemi.
“Look Sanemi, the girl is returning to the box.”
Everyone had been distracted to notice what had happened. Despite the blood she was tempted with, Nezuko pouted with disgust. She made a small wave to her brother and entered the comfort of carrier box.
Most of the pillar were amazed, even Sanemi was stunned by what he had just witnessed.
Pointing at the box, Tanjirou huffed.
“SEE? NEZUKO WILL NEVER EAT ANOTHER HUMAN BEING!”
This made Kagaya make his decision.
“Rengoku my child. You are expert in matter, for you have great intuition. I entrust you with Tanjirou and his little sister, Nezuko.”
Tanjirou gasped loudly and bowed to Kagaya.
“T- THANK YOU SIR!!!!”
That shocked Sanemi and the wind pillar protested.
“But-!”
When Kagaya raised his palm gently and gave a kind smile, Sanemi halted.
“…as you command Oyakata- sama…..”
The wind pillar jumped down from the platform and harshly shoulder bumped Giyuu, who remained absolutely still.
“Giyuu. Demons are our enemy, you a treading on thin line.”
While Sanemi spoke with venom, Rengoku slapped Sanemi’s shoulder.
“SANEMI MY BOY! WE SHOULD GRAB DINNER TOGETHER! OUR HOME CAN MAKE THE BEST PICKLED LOTUS!”
Just then, Shinobu spoke up.
“Rengoku, are you taking Tanjirou and his sister to your estate?”
He nodded.
“That I am!”
She then offered a suggestion.
“I think Tanjirou is still too injured to move about. How about this? Let Tanjirou stay at the butterfly mansion for about a month to recover. When he gets healed, I’ll send him to your estate.”
Rengoku crossed his arms and nodded.
“That sounds perfectly fine to me! Tanjirou boy, I’ll see you in a month! So recover fast, you hear?”
When Shinobu made two claps, two ninjas from a nearby bush jumped out. They groveled and bowed to the pillars swordsmen and then back at Kagaya. One grabbed the box Nezuko was in, while the other piggybacked Tanjirou. Before departing, Tanjirou called out to the water pillar.
“G- Giyuu- San! Thank you!”
The recovery team scrambled away and let out a nervous breath.
“That was nerve racking! To see all the pillars at one place, that was amazing!”
The staff spoke up to Tanjirou.
“Are you going to Rengoku-sama's estate later?”
Tanjirou simply nodded.
“I believe so.”
The recover ninja shivered.
“That’s so terrifying. I would piss my pants if I would ever go to Rengoku-sama’s home.”
That made Tanjirou curious but also uneasy.
“Unmm… why is that?”
The recovery ninja squawked.
“Don’t you know?! Rengoku-sama has a demon for a bride.”
-----------------------
“It’s true!”
“It’s so true!”
“It’s very true!”
Three girls chattered as they applied new bandages on Tanjirou.
The girl with blue butterfly bow tapped at her head.
“I heard the demon seduced Rengoku-sama!”
The girl with pink butterfly bow nodded profusely.
“Yes. I heard the demon seduce man and eat them!”
The girl with green butterfly bow threw away the old bandages.
“Yes, I heard the seduction is a curse.”
Tanjirou settled back on his head and cocked his head. Their story seemed too silly to be true.
“Are you guys sure about that? Rengoku- San doesn’t seem cursed to me. He seemed normal.”
Three girls shook their head.
Sumi fluffed Tanjirou’s pillows.
“No it’s true! Because that’s what everyone else say!”
Kiyo picked up the used towels from the floor.
“All the new recruits are afraid of the demon bride!”
Naho pulled over the cover for Inosuke who was snoring away obnoxiously.
“Whenever the new recruits meet the demon bride, they come back all dazed and stuff! How do you explain that?”
Honestly, Tanjirou could not explain it.
“Uh….”
Just then Aoi walked in with arm full of fresh sheets.
“Guys stop gossiping! It’s disrespectful to Rengoku-sama! Plus, there is others who needs caring!”
“Of course!”
“Yes!”
“Sorry!”
And the girl trio scrambled off. Tanjirou scratched the back of his neck, unsure of what he had heard.
“Um, Aoi?”
“What?”
“Do you know anything about Rengoku-san's… demon bride?”
Aoi sighed with annoyance and put away the clean sheets.
“Look, the girls filled your hard head with bunch of nonsense. I think it’s best if you don’t ask questions.”
Tanjirou agreed.
“Yeah, you’re right. Sorry for asking Aoi.”
As Aoi walked out, she tapped at her ears.
“If you’re really that curious, keep your ears open. Rengoku-sama's demon bride is extremely popular subject among the demon hunters.”
---------------------------
Aoi was right.
Any time new injured demon hunters came to the butterfly estate, rumors constantly circulated. In fact, Tanjirou had no need to ask, the lines of rumors streamed to single bed away.
There were all sorts of saying from young swordsmen.
“The demon used hypnosis.”
“No, that can’t be!”
“I heard Rengoku challenged the demon and defeated it.”
“They formed a contract!”
“Nah, I think Rengoku enslaved that demon to be his bride.”
“Uh, have you met Rengoku-sama? He isn’t the type to enslave anyone. Even a demon.”
“They met on Rengoku’s mission.”
“ Yes.”
“H e found the demon at a haunted dojo.”
“No that’s not it. Rengoku was saving a village and the demon showed up.”
“What? I thought Rengoku encountered the demon at battlefield .”
The information was too scattered for Tanjirou to determine the real story. However, every story had one thing in common.
“How does the bride look like?”
“Skin pale as milk.”
“Eyes bright as moon.”
“Hair that resemble the cherry blossoms.”
“ Blue markings on the face.”
“ Other worldly beauty.”
Only such information was solid enough. However, in order for Tanjirou to determine the truth, he needed to see the “demon bride" for himself.
The trio and Nezuko were indulging on bright and delicious mochi. They all received clean bill of health and Shinobu had sent them a box full of mochi in means to congratulate them. Inosuke hogged it and each time the sweetness hit his tongue, he would halt and then be in awe. Fluffy white lights would swirl around him. Was this another of his techniques? They weren’t sure.
Nezuko didn’t eat the mochi, she would caress the pink ones in her hand. Although she couldn’t enjoy them, Tanjirou could tell she was happy.
Tanjirou looked down and examined the pajamas they were all wearing.
“If I were to meet Rengoku-san, I should really change back into my uniform.”
Beside him, Zenitsu grinded his teeth.
“A pillar should set a good example for us! What the bloody hell is he doing by going around getting himself a bride???!!!! A demon one at that??!!!!”
Tanjirou tried to calm his friend.
“Come on Zenitsu, most of what we heard were rumors. We can’t pass judgment until we see for ourselves.”
The blonde shrieked.
“I DON’T WANNA SEE THE DEMON BRIDE!!!”
While Zenitsu was a trembling mess, Inosuke snorted. He puffed his chest out and flailed his arms which was encased in his sleeves.
“I WANNA SEE THIS BRIDE! IF IT’S A STRONG DEMON, I'LL PUMMEL IT!”
Tanjirou only smiled at Inosuke like an older brother.
“I’m glad you’re getting much better Inosuke. But I don’t think punching Rengoku-san’s bride is a polite thing to do.”
The young man with scar petted Nezuko, who was sitting on the floor and curiously gazed at her brother.
“Nezuko. You always talked about being a bride when you were little…. As soon as you turn back into a human, it’s not a farfetched dream.”
Immediately Zenitsu was struck with beautiful imagery of Nezuko as blushing bride.
His lovely…cute… demon bride….
The young lad begins to squirm around like an eel, he laced his hands together and puckered at Nezuko.
“Nezuko-chan~! You don’t have to wait to become a human again to be my bride!”
This earned him a “pig assault” from Inosuke; a head-butt to the guts. To which the brother and sister cocked their heads in confusion.
“I’m sorry Zenitsu, did you say something?”
Suddenly there was a tap at the entrance.
“Hey those mochi looks mighty good! Can I try some of that?”
Tanjirou quickly stood up from his bed, resulting all the mochi falling to the ground and Inosuke catching it all with his mask covered mouth.
“AH! RENGOKU-SAN!”
The fire pillar waved.
“Tanjirou my boy! I hope your recovery was a quick one!”
-----------------------------
“You mean you just came back from a mission?”
Tanjirou followed as Rengoku lead the way.
“Yup! As soon as your trial ended, I had to return to my mission immediately.”
For Tanjirou and his friends, their mission was about one or two days long. For the pillars, it was high risk mission which meant that it took longer to execute.
So while the trio rested, Rengoku was busy at work. And now that he had returned, it seemed that Rengoku had works with Tanjirou and Nezuko.
“Is it really alright for us to come? Shouldn’t you get some rest?”
Rengoku only laughed cheerfully.
“Worry not Tanjirou my boy! I’m a sturdy man!”
Then Tanjirou pointed.
“And you’re alright with my friends following? They….are bit of a handful.”
Behind Tanjirou, Inosuke dragged Zenitsu along while the blonde was shouting mixed lines of “Inosuke let me go!” and “Nezuko- chan~! Be my bride~~!”
Rengoku only beamed like a blazing sun.
“The more the merrier Tanjirou my boy!”
Turning around, Rengoku gave them a thumbs up.
“For a beginner, I’m impressed that the three of you guys fought with lower moon demon and won! How about the three of you guys become my disciples? I'll look after you guys!”
Rengoku’s radiance boosted the trio’s moral. And it wasn’t such a bad idea. For Tanjirou, since Rengoku understand his situation, he felt like he could trust the flame pillar. For Inosuke, he wanted to be stronger and being trained by a pillar sounded great. As for Zenitsu, who would pass up an opportunity to be protected by a pillar swordsman?!
The boys yelled high praises to the flame pillar. Inosuke and Zenitsu cheered.
“HURRAY FOR RENGOKU! OUR NEW ANIKI!!!!”
As long as Rengoku didn’t minded, Tanjirou decided not to worry about it either.
Rengoku’s family estate was at least one blocks away from the butterfly mansion. And there was reason behind why the two estate was close to each other.
The trio and Rengoku would encounter roughened up demon slayers carrying each other toward the butterfly mansion. The injured fighter groaned and moaned about how hard the training was. To which, Rengoku proudly laughed.
“That’s my bride for you!!!”
This shook Tanjirou to the core and the young man finally gave into the curiosity.
“Rengoku-san… what kind of person is your bride?....”
Rengoku only smiled down like a gentle ray of sun.
“Come and see.”
They were at the large entrance of Rengoku’s estate. Tanjirou saw that there was glazed and excited sparkle in Rengoku’s eyes.
He pushed at the door and announced.
“I'M HOME!!!!!”
Inside the mansion, revealed a gigantic cherry blossom tree. It’s giant and magnificent branches stretched out and provided fragrant shade that covered the whole mansion.
At the yard, a lone figure was sweeping across the flutters of blossom petals. The mess of flying dust and destroyed sword indicated the struggle the previous fighter the trio had walked pass by. Who was responsible for such training? He wore humble, loose blue yukata and was busied himself. The young man looked up from his chores and saw Rengoku.
“Ah….”
A smile bloomed on their lips.
And Tanjirou saw the rumors he has heard come together to form an image.
Skin pale as milk.
Eyes bright as moon .
Hair that resemble the cherry blossom.
Blue marking on their face.
Otherworldly beauty.
Tanjirou blinked.
They were right …. the bride is beautiful.
Seeing his bride first time in a month, Rengoku’s smile softened.
“Akaza…..”
Then from the mansion, a young boy, around the age of 7, who looked like carbon copy of Rengoku ran out.
“YOU'RE BACK!!!!!”
The boy jumps in the midair and Rengoku catches him immediately and swung him around.
“Senjuro!! Have you been a good boy?”
The boy proudly nodded.
“Uh-huh! I helped with chores!”
Smiling from ears to ears, Rengoku pulled an object out from the cloak’s inner pocket.
“Look what I got for you from the city.”
Senjuro marveled and took the toy. He examined the bright, red object and happily giggled.
“What is it?”
“It’s called a fire truck! I imagined it would shoot out fire but it shoots out water.”
“Ha ha, what? That’s also weird!”
“Ha ha! I agree!”
The bride set the broom down and made his way toward Rengoku. His body language was calm but his feet movement were quick.
When Akaza was beside him, Rengoku smiled wearily.
“How’s father?”
Akaza closed his eyes and hummed.
“He had his lunch, emptied three bottles and is taking a nap.”
Rengoku sniffed and scratched his nose.
“Sorry for the trouble. And oh! This is for you!”
From his pocket, Rengoku pulled out a necklace.
“It matches your anklets!”
The necklace was humble but refined. It was round and made out of giant pink pearl.
“It has our family name engraved on it. What do you think?”
Akaza smirked, which showed off his fangs and shook his head.
“Kyojuro you shouldn’t have.”
The flame pillar placed his hand on Akaza’s shoulder and drew him close.
“No but I insist!”
The pink haired young man hummed and glanced at the trios.
“And I see that you brought guests? They must be important if you escorted them here.”
Nodding, Rengoku introduced the rumored demon.
“TANJIROU BOY. INOSUKE BOY. ZENITSU BOY. NEZUKO GIRL. THIS IS AKAZA, MY BRIDE!”
Akaza gave a polite nod to the young demon slayers.
“Welcome to the Rengoku estate.”
Tanjirou politely smiled and offered his hand, which Akaza takes.
“Nice to meet you. My name is Tanjirou and…”
He pointed at the young boy in Rengoku’s arms.
“Is this your son?”
Rengoku and Akaza blinked and glanced down at Senjuro. Then the two of them burst out laughing. That initially confused Tanjirou until Zenitsu pointed at Akaza and screamed.
“BRIDE MY ASS THAT’S F**KING MAN!!!!!”
Tanjirou had the face of simpleton and blinked at Zenitsu.
“But, Akaza-San is so pretty. And brides are ladies.”
While the flame pillar and the demon bride continued to laugh, Zenitsu knocked at Tanjirou’s temple.
“THEY ARE A SAME SEX COUPLE YOU COUNTRY BUMPKIN!!!”
Tanjirou cocked his head.
“A what?”
Zenitsu grinded his teeth.
“It means the couple consists of two men! The bride isn’t lady!”
The young thunder swordsman was pissed because he wanted to witness the beauty of infamous “demon bride" and he was severely disappointed that it was a man.
Upon correction, Tanjirou becomes as red as tomato. He then profusely bowed at Akaza.
“Oh gosh I am so sorry Akaza- san! You were so pretty that I thought you were a woman!”
Akaza petted at Tanjirou’s head.
“Raise your head. You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Rengoku set Senjuro down and beamed.
“Although Senjuro isn’t my son, he is my pride and joy! This is my little brother!”
Senjuro bowed.
“Nice to meet you!”
Zenitsu screeched.
“Geeze genetics you don’t have to try THAT hard!!!”
The demon bride motioned at the trio.
“Why don’t you come inside? We can have further discussion.”
The gate closed as the trio made their way into the yard. Akaza walked beside Tanjirou and studied the box he was carrying.
“Kyojuro had sent me letter regarding you and your sister. May I meet her?”
Tanjirou frowned with concern.
“But it’s afternoon and the sun light and – WAIT! AKAZA- SAN ARE YOU OK?!”
Akaza nodded and pointed up. Above them were abundant cherry blossoms.
“It’s true that demons cannot walk out during daylight. However, this eternal cherry blossom’s shades blocks the sun light for me. So as long as your sister does not walk out of this estate during day time, she should be okay.”
The young demon slayer nodded slowly and set the box down.
“Nezuko, it’s safe to come out.”
The tiny door creaked open and mini Nezuko crawled out. Since it was day time, she seemed lethargic. Akaza knelt beside her and silently offered his hands to her. The girl blinked and study the demon before her.
The “suggestion” came to her like a warm blanket. In her eyes Akaza’s form morphed into her mother.
Nezuko perked up and reached up to Akaza, asking the demon bride to hold her. Akaza did not expected but did as the girl requested. As the girl comfortably rested her tiny head on Akaza’s shoulder, Tanjirou beamed.
“Wow, she’s taking a liking to you Akaza-san!”
In the background Zenitsu was grinding his teeth.
“That guy is holding Nezuko-chan! That guy is holding Nezuko-chan!!!”
Akaza cocked his head.
“How strange. We are strangers. Not to mention, demons don’t really get along with each other.”
“Well… it’s like a hypnosis or “suggestion” placed in her to think that all humans are her family. I think she’s reacting to you positively because she senses humanity in you.”
For a moment, there was a soft smile on Akaza’s lip but soon his brows furrowed.
“Although the hypnosis meant well, that might backfire. What if humans try to harm her?”
“She can avoid them! She can runaway.”
To Tanjirou’s answer, he disagreed.
“Are you saying what Sanemi did to Nezuko was ok?”
Through letters, Rengoku had informed Akaza of everything. Including the incident at the trial. Indeed, that moment she refused to fight back. Sure Nezuko can regenerate and heal fast, but seeing her blood drenching the wooden floor greatly upset Tanjirou.
“Of course not! I still want to head butt that guy!”
Akaza watched Tanjirou silently. The ancient creature glanced down at Nezuko’s pure eyes.
“Tanjirou. I don’t want to be negative but we have to think about worst case scenarios. I'll be frank, you are too weak to protect yourself nor your little sister.”
Tanjirou fisted his hands, not of anger but because of determination.
“Then I'll become stronger!”
Akaza adjusted Nezuko in his arms, holding her up so that she can see her brother.
“Correction. Both of you need to become stronger. In order for you to survive, Nezuko must become strong as well. She’ll need to distinguish good human from bad ones.”
Akaza handed the girl back to her brother. Held by Tanjirou, Nezuko’s eyes squinted up from smiling. She then happily pointed at the cherry blossoms. Ever since passing of his father, Tanjirou had been the sole protector of his family….well… remaining of his family that is. To think that they are in a situation even Nezuko must take arms…. It was hard for Tanjirou to digest.
“I…. I never thought about it that way….”
Undoing the straps of his yukata, Akaza spoke matter of fact.
“Tanjirou. We are going to spar.”
“Wait. Right now?”
“Yes. Problem?”
Beaming, Tanjirou shook his head.
“Not at all! Um. Just a moment please.”
Walking over to Inosuke, Tanjirou placed Nezuko on his shoulder.
“Watch her for me okay?”
Inosuke snorted.
“As the boss I look after my underlings.”
Zenitsu pinched on Tanjirou’s side.
“Tanjirou you bastatrrrdddd!!!”
Rengoku walked over to the engwa and sat, he placed his younger brother on his lap and called out to Akaza.
“How long? Maybe five minutes?”
The pale demon nodded.
“Five minutes is all I need.”
Taking his yukata off, revealed Akaza’s true outfit. He wore a simple vest and white pants. Revealing his dark blue tattoos, the pearl anklets and the necklace that Rengoku had given him. Akaza stand in his battle stance.
“Tanjirou. Draw out your sword.”
“Are you sure Akaza- san? But you are unarmed and-"
“It takes more than a demon slayers sword to take me out. So draw out your sword.”
Reluctant but determined to become stronger, Tanjirou pulled his newly repaired blade.
“HERE I COME, AKAZA- SAN!!!”
A serene smile graced Akaza’s lips.
“Learn everything from what we are about to do. After all, it’s not every day that an upper moon three demon allows a beginner to spare.”
Tanjirou’s eyes widen.
“You’re- what?!”
----------------
Akaza said five minutes.
It was true.
Tanjirou’s body had given out in five minutes. However, his determination has not died out.
Immobile and on the floor, Tanjirou struggled to get up.
“AKAZA-SAN! I CAN STILL FIGHT! PLEASE CONTINUE WITH THE SPAR!”
Akaza stood over Tanjirou and smiled at Rengoku.
“I have to say, Kyojuro, this boy is impressive. Even after five minutes he’s still conscious.”
Rengoku marched over and clapped.
“Tanjirou my boy you were splendid! Nobody from your class ever stayed conscious after sparing with Akaza!”
Tanjirou was disappointed at himself, but he knew he could be better.
But Akaza was terrifying. He was pure fist fighter and Tanjirou could tell that Akaza went easy on him. Suddenly Tanjirou was pulled up and placed on Rengoku’s back. The flame pillar bounced Tanjirou on his back.
“Rest about an hour or so and you'll be good as new! Although, I think bruises and soreness will remain a day or two.”
Akaza crossed his arms and hummed.
“Tanjirou, swordsman or not, you need to learn how to control your body. You have strength but you don’t have basic fighting skills. We start tomorrow.”
In the mountains Tanjirou was taught to dodge, increase cardio and the way of sword. But no combative skills. Although he was a swordsman, perhaps acquiring more skills such as this come in handy.
“Oh thank you Akaza-san!”
“Atta Tanjirou boy! I know you could do it!”
Then Inosuke, Zenitsu streamed over.
“What the hell happened to you? Ge ha ha ha! You look like shit!”
“That’s what you get for setting Nezuko on this pig's shoulder you bastard!”
They had to take Nezuko away so that she won’t be upset by the spar. Of course, she took noticed of injured Tanjirou and frowned with worry.
“Don’t worry about me Nezuko, I was training.”
The warmth in Tanjirou’s reassurance convinced Nezuko. Akaza turned and observed Inosuke and Zenitsu.
“Hmmm. I'll test these boys later but I’m willing to work with them since you brought them over Kyojuro.”
“Excellent!”
Inosuke puffed his chest out and laughed.
“You wish to challenge me? The king of the mountain? I accept!”
Zenitsu on the other had shrilled with fear.
“No way I’m gonna die! I don’t wanna get hurt I just recovereddddd!!!!”
Akaza motioned everyone inside.
“Get accommodated and rest. We have a big dinner party tonight.”
Rengoku cocked his head in curiosity.
“Ho? A dinner party?”
Akaza held up Senjuro in his arms and nodded.
“Yes. A celebration for your success in the mission. And your safe return.”
“Thank you kindly my bride! Who's invited?”
“All the pillar.”
“Gathering of friends! Sounds fantastic!”
--------------------
While the trio’s explored the estate, Tanjirou was placed on a futon to rest. Akaza was kind enough to bring him a herbal tea. They were bitter and sour to the tongue but good for the body. Akaza stated that the tea will bring him a quick recovery, just in time for the big dinner. As Tanjirou sipped on the black brew slowly, Akaza asked of the rumors about him. When Tanjirou told him, Akaza laughed and said they had gotten more ridiculous then last time. And with that, Akaza revealed the truth of the rumor.
Akaza was a formal upper moon three demon. His own will and mentality were strong enough to break away from Kibutsuji’s control. Originally Akaza was terrifying demon who only sought for a formidable enemy. He refused to eat woman or children and only fought men. He devoured countless warriors until Rengoku showed up. Rengoku was a strong fighter and Akaza felt that it was a waste to eat nor kill the flame pillar.
So, the Upper moon three demanded that Rengoku became a demon like him. Of course, Rengoku refused. However, he had a “proposal”.
“How about you become my bride?”
Akaza didn’t know what came over him.
Rengoku offered him his hand.
Akaza took it.
There wasn’t seduction or contract but simple proposal.
Many asked Rengoku why in the hell he decided to do such thing. To which the flame pillars laughed along with these answer.
“It was spur of the moment. Also, I have always wanted to get married.”
There was an uproar at the demon slayer Corp. Thankfully wise Kagaya handled the situation. The only reason Kagaya approved of Akaza was because of one reason; Akaza wanted to become a human again. And Rengoku was doing all he can to find the cure.
Kagaya also gave an assignment to Akaza, he was to train the pillars how to fight powerful demons and must do all he can to help defeat Kibutsuji.
Because of Kagaya’s approval, the uproar was muzzled. But many were disapproved Rengoku and Akaza’s relationship.
Tanjirou blinked and stare at Akaza.
“You’re…. Looking for a way to become a human?”
Akaza nodded and gave him a serene smile.
We understand what you and your sister are going through….
And such simple gesture caused Tanjirou to have a wide smile.
------------------------------
Tanjirou felt out of place. Mainly because this was a dinner party that was gathering of the pillars. Not only so, they wanted to kill Nezuko without giving her a chance.
Top it off, the pillars were happy that Rengoku had safely returned from his mission. But most of pillars were uncomfortable with Akaza. (Not only so, there was two demons at presence.)
Except Shinobu.
She wore her usual smile but this one seemed genuine. When she entered the Rengoku’s estate, she handed Akaza a beautifully crafted cheery wood box.
“This is a mochi especially made at the butterfly estate. I hope your family enjoys them.”
Akaza took the item and gave her a polite bow.
“The former flame pillar adores the mochi from the butterfly estate. He will be delighted.”
“My! My! Will the former flame pillar join us this evening?”
“He is under the weather today. But he has eaten his share of the food.”
As they chalked up a conversation, Obanani frowned behind his mask.
“Ugh…. Why is she being so chummy with the upper moon?”
Gyomei by passed him and simply spoke.
“The two of them have a common enemy.”
As everyone gathered at the table, the sitting was as followed:
(The head of the table) Rengoku, Akaza and Senjuro.
Sanemi Tengen
Giyuu Gyomei
Shinobu Mitsuri
Muichiro Obanani
Tanjirou (Nezuko) Genya
Zenitsu Inosuke
For this occasion, Inosuke was dressed in his uniform as well. Having his top encased in uniform made him squirm on the cushion he was sitting on. But as soon as food rolled out, Inosuke completely forgot about it.
The trio’s mouth dropped. They had never saw such exquisite banquet!
Sushi and sashimi, seasoned cods, salmon glazed with miso sauce, deep fried ducks, grilled mackerels, shrimp tempuras, ginger chickens with soy sauce, whole roasted boar (Zenitsu pokes at Inosuke. “Hey isn’t that your relative?) And many, many more!
Akaza pours Rengoku a sake. Holding the glass up, Rengoku beamed.
“Friends. Thank you for coming. I am delighted to be back. All of us have worked hard, please enjoy the meal my bride has made!”
The pillars held up their own sake filled cup (the minors received chilled sweet ginger tea) they cheer to Rengoku’s return and drank up the liquor.
However, those who were not comfortable with Akaza’s presence was hesitant to touch the food.
It was hard for them to stand Akaza’s presence. Despite, his lovely face, his powerful presence was hard to ignore.
He was also happily smiling at his “groom" who was stuffing his face.
“DELICIOUS! DELICIOUS! DELICIOUS!!!!”
Smiling at his “bride”, Rengoku spoke with food particles flying out of his mouth.
“AKAZA YOU OUT DONE YOURSELF AGAIN! THIS MEAL IS AMAZING! HOW DID YOU MANAGE?! YOU'RE INCREDIBLE!”
Senjuro who was sitting on Akaza’s lap, nodded.
“Aka-chan it’s really yummy! My favorite is the chicken!”
The former Upper moon three demon hummed.
“I’m glad it’s fitting to your taste.”
Placing his hand on Akaza’s shoulder, the flame pillar gently tugged him. And place a short and sweet kiss on his forehead.
This action made most of the pillars flinch in their seats.
Akaza snorted and pushed Rengoku away.
“Kyojuro, you still got duck grease on your lips!”
“Ha! Ha! Sorry about that!”
Then Sanemi sneered at the couple.
“Well isn’t it adorable? The two of you looks like playing house.”
Rengoku chuckled and scratched the back of his head.
“Oh shucks thank you for the compliment Sanemi my boy.”
“I WASN’T COMPLIMENTING YOU FREAKS!”
Sanemi twisted around and pointed at Genya.
“AND YOU! WHAT THE F***K YOU DOING HERE???!!”
The younger brother froze and couldn’t make eye contact. It was good thing that Gyomei was there to intervene. The tallest man raised his palm.
“I wanted to award Genya for his hard work, so I brought him with me. Plus, I thought it would be nice to have the two brothers meet and -"
Sanemi cold voice cut through the atmosphere.
“I don’t have a brother!”
Such harsh statement weighed heavy, causing Genya to stare at the floor, and the pillars remained quiet. Until…..
“Wow! This is amazing! I never tasted anything like this in the village. Nezuko, try this!”
“NOM NOM NOM! THIS IS A FEAST FIT FOR A KING!!!!”
“Inosuke…. Are you eating the pork’s leg? Isn’t that kind of cannibalism?”
While most of the pillars were in a gloomy mood, few people were actually enjoying themselves.
“Isn’t my bride’s food the best Tanjirou my boy?”
“Yes! It’s amazing!”
Akaza nodded at the compliments.
“The three of you don’t be modest. Have as much as you like.”
“THANK YOU AKAZA-SAN!”
“THANKS AKABAWA!”
“Inosuke that’s not his name!”
“Akajipa!”
“That’s still not it!”
“Than…thank you Akaza-san… “ (Zenitsu is still afraid of Akaza)
Shinobu helped herself to the cod. She blushed at the rich flavor.
“My, my. What a wonder dish! Giyuu, try this!”
Giyuu too, takes a portion. As he sniffed at the aroma, a soft smile bloomed on his stiff lips.
“How could a food have such pleasant scent?”
As the youngsters dug in, the rest of the pillars glanced down at the food.
They do look good…..
Knowing what others were thinking, Obanani hissed.
“Hey! Don’t even think about it! He probably used human flesh to make his meal.”
Despite the warnings, Muichiro grabbed a ladle and poured himself a miso with fatty beef.
“I wanna try this one.”
Gyomei served himself a sashimi.
“Thank you for this meal.”
Mitsuri’s appetite kicked in and she no longer restrained herself. As she gobbled on the roasted pork, her tits comically bounced with delight.
“Obanani you need to try this! It’s so yummy!”
Muichiro agreed.
“Yeah. Better than the shit Tengen’s wives make.”
The flashy ninja slammed his fists on to the table.
“IMPOSSIBLE! MY WIVES' COOKING IS FAR MORE EXTRAVAGANT AND TASTIER!”
He grabbed whatever that was in front of him and stuffed it to his face. After a long swallow, Tengen held his head down in shocking defeat.
“…. shit it does taste better…..”
All around them, everyone was eating. Sanemi and Obanani gritted their teeth. Finally, they gave into the scent of the food and peer pressure. Obanani was fed blissfully by Mitsuri while Sanemi stuffed his face and cussed at the same time.
Tanjirou offered Nezuko a bite but in her tiny form, she still refused to eat.
“Can you have tiiiiiiny bite Nezuko?”
Zenitsu joined him and smiled like a doofus.
“Nezuko-chan~! Try the mackerel! It’s yummy.”
The young girl simply shook her head and rested her temple on her brother’s shoulder. This worried Tanjirou.
“Maybe she isn’t hungry?”
Then Akaza spoke up.
“It’s the salt Tanjirou.”
“Huh?”
“The salt. As you know, salt is common ingredient for food, but it’s also for purification. Demons can’t eat anything with salt.”
“Oh I see!”
Looking at his sister, Tanjirou wearily smiled.
“I really wanted you to have this amazing meal. Maybe next time, huh, Nezuko?”
Her pink eyes glistened as she happily snuggled.
Sanemi took this as an opportunity to taunt.
“Speaking which. You haven’t eaten a thing here, Upper moon three! So what do you eat anyway? Do we have a hungry demon at our hand? Rengoku, he has your little brother on his lap. Do you feel safe at all?”
Akaza still wore his smile, but his tone was colder and his eyes were predatory.
“Worry not. I already ate.”
The wind pillar glared.
“What did you eat demon?”
Akaza gestured at the roasted pork.
“The pig’s blood.”
Everyone stopped chewing and then thickly swallowed.
“They are easier to purchase and their blood is similar in taste of humans.”
That moment, Nobody (minus Inosuke and Rengoku) touched the pork.
Akaza narrowed his eyes and examined himself.
“The problem with consuming pig’s blood is that it makes me mellow….”
The child on his lap looked up, his stuffed cheeks up turned up from smiling. Akaza softly sighed and wiped the crumbs off from Senjuro’s face.
“It’s a change I am willing to accept.”
The wind pillar screeched at Rengoku.
“YOU’RE WILLING TO ACCEPT THIS RENGOKU?! HAVING A BLOOD SUCKER LIVING UNDER YOUR ROOF?!”
At Sanemi’ maddening glare, Rengoku’s eyes flickered.
“It will not be permanent. Akaza and I will overcome this.”
“OVERCOME WHAT?! TURNING HIM BACK INTO A HUMAN?! THAT HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND IT NEVER WILL! HAS LOVE MADE YOU BLIND?!”
Tanjirou spoke up.
“WE WON’T KNOW UNTIL WE TRY!”
The wind pillar barked.
“SHUT UP BRAT! ADULTS ARE TALKING!”
Tanjirou still held grudge against Sanemi for stabbing Nezuko. Perhaps this was his chance to head-butt the guy. But before Tanjirou could act on it, Rengoku raised his voice this time.
“DO NOT SPEAK THAT WAY TO MY SUCCESSOR.”
His what?
Tanjirou’s eyes widen and felt his mouth drying. And rest watched with curiosity. Rengoku sighed and smiled apologetically.
“Sorry this is so sudden Tanjirou my boy. But since you know how to wield the true flames, I wanted you to be my successor. Is that alright with you?”
Tanjirou was too surprised to give him a vocal answer, but he nodded in agreement. Rengoku was delighted, and now turned to Sanemi, who was disgusted.
“Of course! Pick out a brat who defends a demon as your successor! What a great plan! What makes you think that your union with a upper moon three will help you anyway? Love is a sickness. A fool's day dream.”
Gyomei was rolling his eyes but none could tell, for the man lacks pupils. For a second, Rengoku’s eye furrowed as he firmly spoke.
“Love made us stronger.”
No one could see it, but Rengoku was firmly grasping Akaza’s pale hand. And the Upper moon demon kept his gaze down, eyes lingering at their connected hand.
For other listeners, it made them blush. (Minus Zenitsu, he had his eyes on Nezuko-chan.)
What. A. Man!
Sanemi scowled with disgust.
“Love truly ruined you! Only a fool will fall for such garbage!”
Mitsuri’s tits sagged with disappointment.
I guess Sanemi isn’t interested in love.
Gyomei clicked his tongue at Sanemi and at same time, poured Tengen a drink.
“Sanemi, love is humanity's greatest and most mysterious power. Do not speak so lightly of it.”
“Shut the f**k up Gyomei! You’re a damn monk, how do you know anything about love?!”
Tengen takes a shot and snorted at the younger man.
“Talk like that you'll never find a wife! Top that your “little bro" will leave you in the dust.”
“What the hell you talking about?”
The pillars turned toward Genya and saw a particular sight. The tall young man with scar was stiff as a wash board and his face red as the sun. Inosuke was completely leaning against Genya in order to reach out for the miso glazed salmon. Thanks to the wonders of puberty, Genya was nervous around girls and pretty faces. And Inosuke’s face had two elements that made Genya very, very, bashful; a beautiful girly face. And it didn’t help that Inosuke was invading Genya’s personal space. By this point, Genya’s ear was red as roses.
Sanemi growled.
“GENYA! WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO MAKE SUCH A DUMB FACE?!”
“A-aniki….I-"
But the young gunslinger’s words were cut short when Inosuke took Genya’s roasted purple squash and popped it in his mouth. Genya dropped his chopsticks as his face becomes brighter.
Tengen snorted and slapped Gyomei’s shoulder.
“Awww just look at that little pervert! God I can’t remember when I was that innocent.”
The wild boar man realized that Genya was staring and huffed.
“The hell you looking at? You wanna fight or something?”
Genya furiously shook his head.
“Meh? Then what the hell do you want? Oh! Do you want to be my subordinate?”
Before the gunslinger had the chance to answer, Inosuke’s pretty smile halted him. Then Inosuke began to slap Genya’s back.
“Bwahaha! I accept! What’s your name my new subordinate?”
Mitsuri blushed and giggled.
“Oh how adorable! Genya has a crush! And the girl has such lovely face and husky voice!”
Tengen hummed and rubbed his chin.
“What a cute face, I can probably make her my wife number 4. Wait, how old is that girl?”
Shinobu’s smile toward Tengen was polite and steely cold.
“Inosuke-chan is 15.”
The flashy ninja snorted and reached for the grilled mushroom.
“Ew pass. Too young for me!”
Giyuu frowned and narrowed his eyes.
“Who is she? I don’t think I saw her before. But her voice sounds awfully familiar….”
Just then, Shinobu noticed that Genya was too shy to say his name. And she helped out by happily waving toward Inosuke.
“His name is Genya! Genya Shinazugawa.”
Giyuu frowned at Shinobu.
“Shinobu, are you drunk?”
“Of course not! Teasing children is way more fun than drinking.”
A single sweat ran down on Giyuu's face.
“Ah…. Of course.”
Inosuke poorly repeated the name.
“Genpachi Shinmezukapa? Gotcha.”
Tanjirou shook his head and glanced at reddening Genya.
“Inosuke that isn’t how you say his name.”
“Gentaro Shitamazuchi.”
“Still not it Inosuke!”
By then Genya mustered up all courage to ask Inosuke a question.
“W- whatsyourname?”
Inosuke beamed.
“Inosuke Hashibira! Your new awesome boss!”
Not far from them, while chewing on roasted duck Gyomei gathered his hands together and hummed.
“How charming…. To be a youth in love.”
Genya hiccupped at the statement and he was growing more nervous because Sanemi looked mad pissed.
Inosuke who couldn’t comprehend the situation, demanded with confidence.
“Alright! As my subordinate, you gimme all of your temperas!”
Tanjirou finally stepped in and scolded.
“Inosuke! Don’t be like that. Genya hasn’t eaten much, let him eat his share!”
“Ohhhh! Is my subordinate number 1 jealous? Alright let’s settle the score! Whoever wins a death match gets to give me a foot rub and sleep next to me in my futon!”
Zenitsu blinked and spoke with flat voice.
“That’s the reward for the winner? Not a punishment for the loser?”
Instantly, Genya got up from his seat and cocked his gun. He spoke with eerily darkness, somehow resembling his older brother more than usual.
“Tanjirou get up. You, me, outside. I’m going to dice you.”
He then proceeded to drag Tanjirou outside. The young man seemed rather confused as he held Nezuko in his arms.
Inosuke excitedly hooted.
“YES! FIGHT FOR MY AFFECTION MY MINIONS!!”
Zenitsu screamed and chased after Tanjirou who was also still holding Nezuko.
“INOSUKE STOOOP!!!!! YOU'RE GOING TO GET TANJIROU KILLLLLLED. NEZUKO-CHAN I’M GOING TO SAVE YOUUUU!!!!”
The older ones watched and laughed at the entertaining scene. Tengen chortled and pointed at Sanemi.
“THAT KID IS TOTALLY YOUR LITTLE BROTHER! GOD, HIS ANGRY FACE WAS EXACT REPLICA OF YOUR PISSED MAD FACE!”
Grabbing arm full of food, the flashy ninja smirked.
“Dinner and show! I’m gonna watch those infants fight to death! I bet your little bro is gonna get his ass kicked!”
To that, Sanemi became very defensive.
“NO WAY! GENYA CAN BEAT THAT DEMON DEFENDER!”
Tengen winked at the monk and whistled at Sanemi.
“Wanna bet on it?”
Sanemi too grabbed arm full of food and growled like a beast.
“YOU ARE ON, YOU FLASHY BASTARD!”
Then the two pillars proceeded to chase after the young demon fighters.
Mitsuri giggled at the scene.
“How energetic! Young love is so adorable!”
Gyomei sighed but with a smile on his face. He rose from his seat but grabbed a roasted boar’s leg.
“I shall intervene when it is necessary.”
He then trailed after the shouts and holler.
Shinobu helped herself to a beefy miso and chuckled.
“My. My, what a cheerful atmosphere! The food seems to taste better too! Don’t you agree Giyuu?”
Giyuu thought that somehow Shinobu had plotted for this to happen and decided to not to comment. Senjuro bounced with excitement and looked up at Akaza and his elder brother.
“Can I go and watch them duel?”
Akaza glanced at Senjuro’s bowl.
“Did you finish your vegetable portions?”
Like a good boy, he nodded.
“Yup I finished it! I ate all the cabbages! And leeks too!”
That earn an approval from the elder brother.
“Then you may go! Make sure you study their fight moves!”
Akaza added.
“But watch from a safe distance.”
Senjuro copied the elders by grabbing the foods he can carry in his tiny hands. And excitedly ran after the fighters.
The rest who stayed at the table chatted up friendly conversations and the places they have visited on their mission. Despite the wild and craziness, Rengoku nor Akaza turn their gazes away from each other.
----------------------------
The party had reached it’s climax and was coming down nice and slowly. Most of the people were enjoying their liquors or sweet desserts.
Tanjirou and Genya was laying on the ground immobile. For Tanjirou the aches from the spar had kicked him and rendered him to the ground. While Genya couldn’t move a single muscle because Inosuke, who was stuffed and happy, was taking a power nap on Genya’midriff. Zenitsu watched and curious Senjuro was poking them with a stick. Even Muichiro joined in on the stick poking activity.
Sanemi and Tengen wasn’t far, they were sitting at the platform which was under the cherry blossoms. Chugging on cold peach sake, they argued over who had won the bet. Gyomei, Obanani and Giyuu silently watched the angry men as he enjoyed sweet dangos.
Meanwhile Shinobu was introducing Nezuko to Mitsuri. The love pillar had warmed up to the young girl and was now braiding Nezuko’s hair. Nezuko happily swing her legs over the engwa.
Not from far, Rengoku smiled at the scenery. He and Akaza occupied the empty dining room. He peeked through the sliding door and smiled.
It wasn’t every day that his fellow pillars could kick back and enjoy themselves. Not to mention, celebration at his home could have been a cold one. It was obvious to Rengoku that his teammates disapproved of Akaza. No doubt this event could have been uncomfortable for his bride as well.
Good thing Tanjirou and his friends were here. They had brightened up the party more then he could give credit.
Rengoku saw the moonlight streaming between the dancing petals. He gently held on to Akaza’s hand.
“What a lovely night.”
Akaza agreed.
“Indeed.”
“Thank you for the party my bride. It was lovely.”
The former Upper three snorted.
“It actually went lot better than I have imagined. Having those rowdy children actually lighten the mood.”
They chuckled and glanced at Tanjirou. Mitsuri held tiny Nezuko in her arms and leaned toward the older brother. Nezuko placed a mochi on Tanjirou’s forehead, this had the young demon slayer giggling.
In stilled meditation Rengoku sighed.
“I have never thought we could run into someone who had same goal as us.”
Akaza shifted in his position to become more comfortable.
“They are a unique case. I have never met a demon who had their humanity intact after turning. She’s a special girl.”
The flame pillar studied his bride.
“You mean you have lost your humanity before?”
“I have from the moment I had become a demon. I lost my sense of identity. I won’t lie, regaining my humanity was one of the hardest thing I have gone through.”
Leaning forward, Akaza placed his hand on his own forehead.
“I honestly cannot remember my previous life as a human…not even my original name…. I…. I feel like I am forgetting something very important though.”
Rengoku quietly watched Akaza as he continued. Akaza’s cold, harsh face reminded Rengoku that his bride was, no doubt, a demon.
“One thing I know for a certain, I carried a particular desire with me from my life as a human to demon hood. I wanted what I have to last forever. I refused to lose anything, so I fight on.”
Gradually Akaza raised his head and smiled, thus warming his own presence.
“But then, I met a powerful but crazy fool.”
Rengoku smiled. Akaza chuckled and shook his head in dismay.
“No matter how much I wanted it. You wouldn’t give in and let me turn you into a demon. Then I decided that, then I should become a human. I refuse to live on for eternity when time takes you away from me.”
The flame pillar raised his fist in victory.
“And indeed I am a lucky fool!”
Akaza hummed and stare at his human groom curiously.
“What possessed you to ask for my hands? Have you forgotten your role as a demon slayer at that moment?”
Rengoku only shook his head and leaned forward to Akaza.
“I don’t know. Perhaps it was the gods doing. But…. When I saw you, I couldn’t tear my eyes away no matter how hard I tried. You were so beautiful among those red spider lilys.”
Contrasting to the popular rumors, Rengoku did not encounter Akaza at a haunted mansion or raging battlefield. Instead, Rengoku was called because of terrified villagers who had saw a pale demon in the forest.
Under the moonlight, Akaza was glowing with pale radiance. At the vast, quiet and lonely crimson field, the upper moon three demon was gathering red spider lilies in his arms.
Akaza let out a laugh recalled that moment. He caught Akaza off guard back then. Akaza was curious why Kibutsuji was so obsessed with the spider lilies and was collecting them for himself. That was their faithful encounter.
The former upper moon leaned into Rengoku’s shoulder.
“How long was that ago?....”
The flame pillar softly hummed.
“I reckon it was five years ago…..”
Their gaze toward each other was of warmth, like smooth, flickering lights.
Then Rengoku slides his hand over Akaza’s lap and much to the upper moon’s surprise, Rengoku reached in between Akaza’s yukata. Against his pale skin, the demon's blush was obvious. Akaza inhaled between his fangs.
“Kyojuro….what are you doing?....”
Rengoku murmured softly. As he moved, he shifted so that he put his full weight on Akaza.
“Forgive me it has been a while….”
Akaza couldn’t remember the last time he had such libido. Perhaps demon biology was different from humans. Although Akaza no longer experienced sexual needs, he at times forgotten that Rengoku was a healthy man and had certain needs.
Akaza pulled Rengoku in for a kiss. As their lips carefully pushed and slide into one and another, Akaza did his best not to pierce Rengoku’s lips with his fangs. The pale upper moon tugged Rengoku down and onto the wooden floor below. The cold floor was contrast to their heating body. Despite the flame growing in the pit of their stomach, their kiss wasn’t fervent. In fact, it was too controlled, withheld and subdued.
Rengoku pushed his face into Akaza’s neck and groaned miserably. To which his bride comforted him with a tight embrace.
“I’m sorry Kyojuro, we just can’t risk it….”
The reason Akaza remained as a bride was because they couldn’t get married just yet. Akaza wanted to marry Rengoku as a human, not as a demon. If they did, their sexual encounter might lead to infecting Rengoku into a demon. So, the two agreed sex was off the table until further notice.
With Rengoku’s full weight on top of him, Akaza felt Rengoku’s heart drumming against his own. The demon bride placed ghosting kisses on the flame pillar’s face. This encouraged the demon hunter and used his hands to explore other’s body. As Rengoku groped at Akaza’s chest, the upper moon three slipped out from the yukata’s sleeves. Letting the fabric to fall as his sides.
Akaza gives Rengoku a sultry smile, for the two of them can still indulge on each other in different ways.
Rengoku kisses him once again and wrapped his arms around Akaza’s exposed midriff.
Suddenly the sliding door slammed open and marched in their guests.
Tanjirou blissfully sighed as he patted his stomach.
“That unexpected sparing actually worked up my appetite. Is there any food left?”
Genya followed suit, he too was hungry from sparing and nervousness.
“Hey, is there watermelon or any kind of fruits here?”
And right behind the two was Sanemi with empty sake bottles. He shook the bottle as if it was a bell.
“HEY DEMON, YOU GOT ANY SAKES LEFT?!”
Their eyes landed on their host and the flame pillar. And the two were in very intimate and compromising positions. Rengoku had lay completely on top of Akaza in embracing position, while the upper moon had his top missing.
Tanjirou and Genya become instantly flustered. While Genya clamped down, Tanjirou nervously apologized.
“OH MY GOSH RENGOKU-SAN, AKAZA- SAN I AM SO SORRY FOR INTRUDING!!!”
For Sanemi, maybe it was the alcohol or his second nature as a big brother. Sanemi quickly hooked his arms behind the young demon slayers and used both hands to cover Genya and Tanjirou’s eyes. He dragged the youngers out of the room and spoke stiffly.
“Obviously the two of them are busy, we'll come back later.”
Afterward, there was loud chatter outside. No doubt someone had spilled the beans regarding what the flame pillar and the demon bride was doing. Rengoku crawled off from Akaza and gave his bride a toothy grin.
“We got caught.”
Akaza slipped his yukata back on and smooth away the wrinkles. He too smiled mischievously to his groom.
“Oh poor Tanjirou. I almost can feel the secondhand embarrassment from him.”
Through the window, they saw blushing and stiff Tanjirou getting poked by his friends and other pillars. Akaza laughed at the such innocent and childishness.
“It’s going to interesting with those children around the estate.”
Rengoku couldn’t agree more. He offered his hand to Akaza, helping him on his feet. The demon bride used one hand to hold onto nook of Rengoku’s arm, while the other hand travelled up. Combing Rengoku’s messy, bright hair. Akaza adored, Rengoku’s hair; it reminded the upper moon fireworks. Rengoku hummed at the touch and leaned closer.
“Am I presentable now?”
Akaza kissed the side of Rengoku’s face.
“Indeed you are my demon slayer.”
They gave each other a fond, crinkled smiles. Rengoku then lead his bride out, to their waited friends at under the cherry blossoms.
