Chapter Text
Midoriya was out-of-his-mind scared. He wouldn’t be this scared if he was fighting the villain alone, but now Uraraka was here...
It began when Izuku and Ochako were going to the grocery store to get snacks for their class. It was the weekend, and the entire class decided to camp out in the common room and have an ‘entire class’ sleepover (They called it a party, but Iida forbade loud parties and disrespectful behaviour, so they began to call it a sleepover for the class rep’s sanity.) They were all getting ready to move their blankets down to the common room when Kamanari began to have a panic attack about the snacks.
“The snacks! Where are the snacks?” He had screamed dramatically, clutching his blonde hair for dramatic effect. It was true, there was barely any ‘party’ food in the class dorms. All they had were some instant noodles, soba (requested by Todoroki), fruit and miscellaneous other food scattered in one small fridge.
“I’ll go buy some snacks!” chirped Izuku, a smile on his freckled face. He was wearing the blandest shirt in existence, the words ‘t-shirt’ printed across the front, but it was kind of cute and really suited his plain yet adorable personality. This earned him a lot of wary stares from his classmates in the common room.
Kirishima was the first to turn around and voice everyone’s inner thoughts. “Man, that’d be great, but you’re kinda a villain magnet.” He responded a little too confidently. “Villains come at you left and right, like, it’s kind of a biiiiiig mistake to send you out alone.” The smile on Midoriya’s face didn’t have time to waver when Uraraka volunteered to go with him almost instantly. “I’ll go alone with Deku! He can’t possibly attract a villain if I’m around, hopefully?”
She had said.
She was wrong.
Before they were about to begin their journey to the corner store, Midoriya ran upstairs to his room to collect his wallet. Mina took the opportunity to wind her friend up and make her flustered before having to go somewhere with Izuku.
“Soooo, you’re spending time with your boyfriend, all aloonee!” She teased in a sing-song voice, watching Uraraka’s face turning into the sun.
“H-h-he’s not my boyfriend!” Ochako screamed, about to float away in embarrassment as she did sometimes, but Ashido had predicted it and held her down to earth. “Well, whatever you say, but you two would make the greatest couple, like, ever!” was Mina’s last comment before Midoriya came back with his All-Might themed wallet. There was a brief discussion about why Uraraka’s face was red, Deku asking if she had a fever, Ochako waving her arms in embarrassment and assuring him it was just because the room was warm, and then the conversation ended as they walked out the door.
When they were walking through the backstreets of the city, it was calm and peaceful. Ochako looked over at Izuku, trying her best not to think about the comments from the past that people had created about her crush on her best friend, but it lingered in her mind. She was about to open her mouth when-
“I found him!” a voice screamed. Uraraka whipped her head around, searching for the source. Midoriya had no time to react when a strong kick knocked all the air out of him, sending him rolling backwards.
“Deku!” Uraraka had screamed, darting after her friend. The stranger was faster than her hurried pace. They were tall, black shadow looking figure and the only feature printed on their face were two yellow orbs, supposedly their eyes. It seemed to have a massive interest in Midoriya. “Hm.” He muttered, pulling something out of his… pockets? Uraraka couldn’t really tell what, it just looked like the guy was pulling something out of the black mist that created him. It was a small, printed image, and Ochako had to squint to make it out. On it was a photo of Deku at the sports festival, probably after the obstacle course or the fight with Todoroki. The man threw it back and hovered closer to Midoriya.
“Mhm, definitely you. Sorry, nothing personal, but Shigaraki wants you, Not sure why, but I have to follow my duties. And I guess taking a spare one wouldn’t really matter.” He remarked, turning to Ochako. The shadow’s yellow eyes now looked hollow and content, in a terrifyingly villain-like way. Wrong decision, because Deku was no longer stunned, and charged his quirk in his body. He leapt, and struck the shadow across the, uh, face? and ran over to Uraraka protectively. The shadow was angered. Very, very angry.
Okay, Ochako, think. This guy wants Deku. Mentioned Shigaraki. Works for the League of Villains, I assume. What can I-
Her chain of thoughts was cut off by a force that smacked her head. She managed to stay standing, but she was dazed enough to stop completely and shut down for a second. “You guys really piss me off. Thought you would just panicked or something and snatching you would be easy. Meh, you won’t be able to think straight after this anyways.” He smiled, clapping his hands together. After the clap of his hand things, Uraraka felt strange. A woozy, dizzy feeling engulfed her and her knees gave out and buckled underneath her, causing her entire body to drop like a weight onto the cement road. Deku’s did the exact same. The villain continued. “You see, my quirk is really something. I managed to hurt both of you in a span of a minute. Lucky for me, that allows me to activate my quirk!” The figure screamed giddily, staring at the pair with expectations. And then, Ochako’s world fizzled to black.
Waking up was painful, Uraraka decided. She almost wanted to pray to fall into the bliss of unconsciousness again, but that wouldn’t happen. She was feeling alert now, scared, and most importantly. Concern. Where was Deku? Was Deku ok? Was he hurt?
She was trapped in a dark room, hands tied behind her back, around a wooden chair. It was a strong material with no hope of breaking through. Just then, a weird, old-looking man opened the door. Behind him jumped out another girl, who Ochako recognized very well. It was the girl who had attacked her and Tsu during Summer Camp, and bile in her throat rose in hatred. Seeing the blonde giddy made her want to puke.
The old man was one she barely recognized but still did. She remembered him most from at the mall, when she found him strangling Deku with one hand, rambling about a goal and ambition. She also hated this guy.
“Izuku Midoriya.”
It took her only a moment to remember that Deku’s real name was Izuku.
Her first thought: what?
Her second thought: is Deku behind me?
Her third thought: wait, then why is he staring at me?
