Work Text:
“So hyung, guess what?” Jungkook asks, sliding a wrapped quarter-pounder toward Seokjin. The broad-shouldered man sits across from him in the diner booth, one hand wrapped around a tall glass of chocolate milkshake.
“What?” Jin looks down at the burger, eyes widening in delight when he realizes that Jungkook added his favorite Thousand Island dressing. “Kook, you remembered the sauce! Thanks, man.”
Jungkook grins.
“So, about our client. Ms. Song. She wants a photoshoot for her Bichon Frisé,” Jungkook explains, around a mouthful of French fries.
Jin sputters. “What the hell is a Bitch-On-Freeze-Aye?”
“Bichon Frisé,” Jungkook repeats wearily. “It’s a dog breed.”
“Yeah, okay,” Jin replies, smacking his lips as he plucks a pickle from the burger and shoves it into his mouth. “Tomato, tomato.”
“It’s a big deal,” Jungkook continues, ignoring Jin’s remark. “$500 per hour. And she plans on paying for multiple sessions, too.”
Swallowing a bite of food, Jin narrows his eyes.
“A photoshoot for a dog? Is the dog internet-famous or something?”
Jungkook shakes his head. “She said it’s her baby’s eighth birthday and she wants to commemorate the occasion with some photos.”
“Her…baby?” Jin parts his lips, almost comically. “Oh! Baby, as in the Bitch-On-Freeze-Aye. Got it.”
Jungkook snorts, before knitting his eyebrows together in a mock-frown. “I’m telling you, hyung, I just met this lady and she is not someone you wanna mess with. I suggest fixing that awful pronunciation of yours, or she might send your ass flying into outer space.”
Letting out a loud guffaw, Jin slaps the table. “My ass?! Into space?? I’ll become the first photography-assistant-turned-astronaut, then!”
“Ok, maybe that was an exaggeration, but she would definitely be the type to sue you for ‘Bitch-On-Freeze-Aye.’”
Jin straightens, cheeks still red from his bout of laughter. “What are you talking about? I’m not scared of getting sued…Jimin can be my defense lawyer!”
“Jimin is a. Corporate. Attorney.” Jungkook deadpans, crossing his arms.
“Jimin is a what?” a sweet voice appears from behind Jungkook. Before he can react, he feels a familiar pair of small hands cover his eyes.
“Chim?!” Jungkook yelps incredulously, hands coming up to curl around those of his boyfriend’s. “How’d you get here? I thought you had work.”
Chuckling, Jimin removes his hands from Jungkook’s face and slides into the booth.
“I’m on lunchbreak,” Jimin says, wrapping an arm around Jungkook’s shoulder. “I stopped at the donut shop and saw your car parked in the plaza, so I figured you were in here.”
“Hey Jimin,” Jin greets. “We were just talking about how you could be my defense attorney in case I get sued.”
“Sued for what?” Jimin asks, reaching for one of Jungkook’s fries.
Jungkook takes the plate of fries from his tray and sets it in front of Jimin, earning him an affectionate nudge on the shoulder.
“Long story short, Jin’s ridiculous pronunciation might seriously offend one of our clients, which could result in him getting sued.”
Jimin stops mid-chew and raises an eyebrow at Jin.
Jin throws his hands up. “Jimin, you try to pronounce it!” Pointing a finger at Jungkook, “spell it for us.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes. “B-I-C-H-O-N F-R-I-S-E.”
“Oooh…” Jimin pauses with a grimace. “That’s tough.”
“Go on, try to pronounce it,” Jin urges with a smirk.
Jimin runs a nervous hand through his hair. “Uh…Bee-shone-freeze? Beacon-fry-se?”
“HAHAHAH.” Jin’s laugh pierces through the air, causing several nearby customers to turn and glare at him. “Beacon fries! Bacon fries! It would BEE-SHONE nice of you to FREEZE the BACON FRIES!!” Jin doubles over, cackling at his own joke.
Jungkook places his hands over his reddening ears as Jimin makes shushing noises at the man sitting across from them.
Lowering his head until his nose almost touches the table, Jungkook lets out a loud groan. “You guys are so embarrassing.”
Jimin chuckles while Jin wipes at the tears in the corners of his eyes.
“I don’t know about you,” Jimin says, glancing down at the empty plate before him. “But bacon fries actually sound pretty good right now.”
