No matter how many times he heard it, it still stung. It felt like he was drowning. He couldn’t breathe and no one could tell.

“That’s a lame quirk”
” HE got into the hero course?”.
“So plain, He’ll never make it”
He took in a breath, trying to remember what Katsuki told him last time this had happened. They’re just extras, You’re fine, You're a strong-ass fucker and you won’t let a couple of wannabes get in your way!
He focused on those words as he walked toward the heights alliance. He opened the ‘KATSUSQUAD!!!!✺◟( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)◞✺’ Group chat
Sero Hanta: Guys, Im sorry to bother you but...todays been a day that makes me feel like kermitting suicide if ya know what I mean
Bakugou Katsuki: honey!! Youre no bother! So my room?
Kirishima Eijirou: I’ve got games, Movies and anything else like that
Mina Ashido: I’ve got blankets, Kats you still have the beanbags right?
Bakugou Katsuki: Yeah, because you fuckers keep leaving them in my room!
Kaminari Denki: Ive got snacks and a stockpile of mildly disturbing 3am memes!!
Sero Hanta: You really dont have to do this…
Bakugou Katsuki: Bitch you better shut the fuck up and get over here before I send Pinky to get you
Sero Hanta: Thanks….
Mina Ashido: AWW BABE, you know we Luv you!
He closed the chat feeling a little better as he quickly walked through the common room. He reached the elevator and went to the 4th floor. (A/N: It is the 4th floor, right?) He knocked on the door, which was immediately opened as he was dragged inside. He looked over to see Denki already showing his memes to Eijiro and Mina holding his arm as Katsuki walked over draping a blanket over his shoulders. Mina took him over to the 3 giant bean bags they had purchased at the end of the 2nd year. They had all gotten a lot closer after they had helped Eijiro get over his recurring insecurities, Denki’s self-worth problems, The lies Katsuki believed from his mother, and Mina’s body shame. They all had some problems but they had each other's back throughout it all. Hanta always thought he was boring, stupid, and just worthless but Katsuki had been the one who went up to him and asked. He went first and they had gotten very close. He liked a lot of the same music as Jirou, Katsuki, and Tokoyami so they all hung out as well. It was nice to have friends he could go to for validation. He hated asking but he needed it and Katsuki was always willing to help, he would force compliments on him.
He hadn’t always liked his quirk but after some practice with Aizawa on swinging (His capture weapon was very similar to Sero’s tape), he felt a lot better about it. He always heard that his quirk sucked, that it was useless, that he was just a boring person. The Katsusquad was full to the brim with personality and he was one of them, it felt good to be recognized.
As he settled down with Katsuki cuddled into his side, Kaminari showed him a meme from behind the beanbag. Mina laying on Eijirou’s chest as they sang ‘Good as hell’ by Lizzo. He couldn’t help but grin as he looked around at his friends. He knew that even if the world was ending they would be there, helping each other along. He knew that even when everyone criticizes every move he made. Even when he felt like crying even though he plastered on a smile, They would be there.
That was a real reason to smile. As Katsuki curled in closer and Denki laughed loudly as Eijiro belted out the chorus, he felt at home an the rest of the world melted away. He pulled the blanket over to cover the two of them and he knew that he was ok. He wasn't boring, he wasn't lame, he was perfect.
