Chapter 1: synopsis
Chapter Text
this. is my first story that is written with canon characters.
don't expect much, because the characters might be ooc, but i'll try my best to analyze the character designs of bnha throroughly before writing on them.
english is not my first language, so i will have A LOT. of spelling and garammar mistakes. but i try to learn anyways.
i am just an amature writer. i have grammar issues, so, once again, don't expect much from this fic.
however, despite how this story might be badly written at first, my writing style will probably change in the course of this fic. only in every 10 chapters that i have written i will do a check and re-write some of the paragraphs or contents in it, so once again, excuse yours truly for the grammar mistakes, and also for the long break that i need in order to re-write the chapters.
this will NOT. WILL NOT. be updated regularly. i am still trying to excercise a writing routine but i will have school and my own relationship problems to deal with. so there are no regular posting on this.
now onto the plot.
this is merely a fanfiction. it is an alternate universe, and it is not canon in the actual BNHA plot.
my hero academia is a manga series by horikoshi kohei, animated into a shounen anime series in japan. the base plot, setting, characters in this story does NOT belong to me. if i do give this story OCs, i will arrange a list for them so that you can refer to it.
this story will contain:
--angst,
--depression,
--trigger topic,
--bullying,
--physical/verbal abuse,
--possible side character deaths.
so if you are sensitive to these topics i sincerely advise you do not read on as i want to avoid my stories being toxic to some people.
the pairings for this fic is not determined yet. i will make a list in due time, when i plot the story out. no ship hate will be tolerated. if you want to suggest ships, go on and DM me because i hate to see fights in the comment section about it. thank you.
by the way, izuku here will be 1 year younger than his canon timeline, and his height in this fic is 162 centimetres because of his age and his conditions in this fic. the other canon factors stay the same.
this is the synopsis and basic things you need to know before you read the fic. now, if you are okay with all of these, then go on and enjoy the fic! i hope you have a nice time reading this piece!
~yours sincerely, shuie (@ yushuuie on instagram, @lq_nnie on wattpad)

Chapter Text
10 years before the current timeline--musutafu, at Dr. Ujiko's quirk clinic...
"Okasan! okasan! I'm so excited to see my quirk! what will my quirk be? will it be like your telekinesis? i could be a hero if i had one! i can form a duo with kacchan! oh, i'm so excited!"
"Aww, Izuku..."
he had no idea that his dreams were going to be crushed the second he stepped into that door with his mother. he really had no idea.
things were taken away from him in that clinic.
but he couldn't remember when the doctor, who was a chubby mid-aged glasses man, did a thorough check on him for his quirk factor. when the doctor ushered him into the x-ray room for a scan, he recalled nothing. but whn he was out of he dark room, he only remembered the dream that he had for four years, was utterly shattered into smithereens and nowhere to be found.
that day. that fateful day, izuku midoriya discovered, that he had no quirk.
having no quirk factors in his body nor his genes proved that, at least.
how did it end up like this?
that night after they got home, he was crying in front of the computer screen which was blinding in contrast to the dark room. he could not control his tears as they gathered up in his eye sockets and slid down his cheeks.
as inko midoriya rushed towards her only son and embraced him tearfully and tightly, hoping to make the pain of his dreams being lost feel better, she noticed from the corner of her eyes that the brightly-lit screen showed the video clip of the no.1 hero, all might, saving dozens of civillians from the ruins of a fire.
and that, was the moment inko decided that she had to try her best to give her son happiness. maybe love would help his pains of being deprived of a quirk feel better.
-----------------------------
doctor ujiko had missed somethings. very critical things.
as critical as an extra quirk factor in the frail boy's DNA chains.
but, oh well, that doesn't matter now, does it?
-----------------------------
dealing with his dreams being shattered was one thing, because izuku could always piece them together with scotch tape in the end.
but when bakugou katsuki started treating izuku as his emotional and physical punchbag all the time after he has been diagnosed quirkless was another thing.
he should've known at the very start that trying to survive in a society where everyone has this 'quirk' thing was pretty much impossible, but he tried anyways, and failed miserably as expected.
he was wasting so much of his scotch tape trying to piece all the things that had been broken in his life back together, that when he finally ran out of all his scotch tape, he had no idea what to do, and everything that he glued back together then all came crashing down on the small, frail physical mind of the little boy's, and he was left to slowly watch everything that he ever stood for turning into weapons that would eventually destroy him in the end, all of whilst being buried deeply in the remaining debris of his broken world.
scotch tape was a wonderful thing. everyone had their fair share of scotch tape since they were born. but there were no convenience store to restock some more, and there were no other replacements to cure litte izuku.
until he was only 8, he had tried to keep his mother out of this. he could not bear to see his sweet and caring mother wasting her tears for a pathetic being like him. he would always wear long sleeved clothes and long pants in order to make the scars and bruises less visible.
but she found out anyways, like they always did.
however, surprisingly, inko midoriya did not question any further. the lack of a father figure in izuku's life even before his birth was already weighing the guilt down on inko's heart, and she hated to see his son covered in scars he did not deserve as a sensible child like him. she respected her son's privacy and knew perfectly well where those scars came from.
inko even specifically requested the caretakers of the bullies to stop their children from such acts, but was shut down due to her son's quirkless reputation. at least she tried...
the only thing that she could do for izuku now was to move. move far away from the area that her son had suffered so much from. she could only hope the best for izuku to settle down peacefully.
after their move, inko had no choice but to get another job in order to supply for her new house and daily needs, as the new house was quite expensive. at least it was better than te last one, where they lived in a small apartment with people making noises all over, and terrible neighbours.
their new house was a small 2-storey house located in a quiet corner of shibuya, tokyo. it was about 200 square metres, with the 1st storey comprised of the kitchen, a bathroom, living room and a storage room, with an additional yard that inko planned to do some gardenings. the 2nd floor was only about three quarters the size of the 1st, having two bedrooms, a bathroom, a small half-study-half-entertainment room, and a balcony.
inko had specifically chose this house as it was located in a place where not a lot of cimes happen, and that it was pretty cheap for such a big house. at least izuku will only be at home to study, she could go to work freely without worrying that her son would get bullied in school, as she had enrolled him in online classes. she knew that izuku was very smart, so she won't have to worry about his grades.
well, inko midoriya did not expect her son to be this good though-he had completed all his primary school syllabuses just after a year! no wonder izuku had always looked bored after class!
after discovering her son's miraculously fast pace to learning, inko registered him up for several more online classes that was not only early middle school's, but also other more harder topics, she just wished for izuku to have a bright future despite the quirklessness. as they all say, knowledge is power.
but she didn't know it would only hurt izuku more in the long run.
-----------------------------------
bakugou katsuki was going to kill the damn nerd when they meet again.
it was just a few punches! and a few mean words! surely the damned deku can't be that fragile?
but he guessed wrongly. the shitty nerd ran away. crawling from all his stupid problems that were actually all caused by katsuki and his henchmen, those of which he refuses to admit.
he was there that day-and poof, the next day he was gone. moved away from musutafu just like that. did that quirkless reject think he was better than him? how dare he?
he was always doing better than the nerd. maybe not in school but he never really paid attention in class anyways, but in so much other places he was better than him. just how dare deku run away, thinking he was all better than him?
he was useless. katsuki was going to make sure of that, once he sees him again.
or would he even meet him in the future? he honestly had no idea.
------------------------------------
(a/n:how i managed to write this in one day and where i got the motivation from i have no idea. but well, here it is! first chapter is here, with a lot of grammar and spelling mistakes coming in a set:))
i'm not about to make kacchan a complete bastard if you're wondering, i just felt the obligation to write in his inner monologue-it was surprisingly guiltily pleasuring to write though- anyways, my motivation will probably die down soon though. have a nice day!

Chapter 3: -2- the start of conceptualizing

Chapter Text
"well hello there, young one."
ah.
izuku did not even flinch as he sprang to his feet instantly, bracing to attack. however, the sight that laid before him intrigued him.
what-no, i mean who, stood before him was not a creepy giant villain snake monster he had expected from his experience in being a vigilante during the past few years. intead, the voice came from a small, white and furry bear-no, a mouse-not a dog, but it could be, dresed in a neat little suit with a tie, his tail resting beside the creature/human.
izuku cleared his throat and retreated slightly. "uh... may i help you..?" he flashed his best smile even though he knew the human/animal can't see him under his white surgical mask.
ok, i haven't explaind anything yet did i? i'm just going to explain bit. yes, a bit.
---uh, i think two years before? yeah, he's 12.5 yrs in present---
so izuku became-a vigilante. pretty ironic seeing that he had no quirk, thus making it legal as it is only vigilancy if there is a use of quirks--but not the case for izuku. he's a good boy, a legal good boy.
he started being a vigilant when he was only recently 2-digit-years-old. i'm not kidding, he was 10 and a half. super young, right? too bad he was just a vigilante. apparently the idea came to him when he saw eraserhead-the underground pro hero, going on a patrol at night. he got inspired, and believed this would be good practice-he thought. ha.
well, izuku realised that if his mother was to notice, he would much probably be a corpse before the actual police fund him, so that's why he was elated when his mother told him he would go for long-term trips occationally, leaving izuku at home with enough supplies and money for a week, seeing that he does not socialize at all-with online classes, of course.
but to be fair, the classes were way too easy. izuku had finished them, plus the homework and additional quizzes in only 1 day, and left with an entire evening for him to prepare his first patrol as the new stealthy vigilante of the local nights---Blank.
yeah, good job, what a fureaking great representation name izuk--no, not now.
izuku did not know why he chose this name anyways, but it's useful and simple. not flashy, no, he hated flashiness despite being an unmovable fan of all might, but let's talk about that later.
so after wasting two hours on designing his costume AND planning, he finally realised that it was only 1 hour to midnight. great.
his vigilante costume was a slender, black hoodie with dark red stripes that resembled that of blood stains. he had chosen a sweatpant with white stripes amid the black linings, and dark red sneakers. for disguises, he had only chosen a white surgical mask as he only needed to prevent people from knowing who he was.
now onto his glasses(he does wear them in this fic, it's due to a kid back in his old place hitting him too hard on one of his eyes and...bla bla bla. the rest is history, he needs to put medication and patch it every once a month, the clear-rimmed glasses are now a part of him). he really needs them, but unless if he want his eyes to be squashed he can't use contact lenses. instead he just kept to his glasses. half of the population wears glasses now anyways.)
well he did pack a bunch of supplies. consisted of knives and surgical blades he had snatched from his mother's hospital. no, what are you talking about, they gave him permission..! plus some first-aid kits, and-his phone, just in case.
and-he went on patrols. he took out small-time villains, and soon getting the big ones. the strong ranked-ones too, and he occasionally met his favourite heroes on the job, despite needing to runaway from them to avoid capture at that time.
not only did he improve on his moves, strength, speed and weapon-management, he also made aquantances with a few undeground pros, like eraserhead and present mic, but only for a few times. they would still try to get him after fights, but izuku has been practicing and got away quite fast.
however, the most valuable thing he got from being a vigilante is probably the joy in rescuing people, and his notes. he has been writing on his hero notebook since forever, and could not be more overjoyed when he was able to take notes on heroes who fight at nights more closely. izuku was just lucky he did not have to deal with too-bad villains though, or he'd have been dead by the time his mother had came home.
---back to present, bc why not---
"Blank-san, i would assume."
oh wow, did he get this popular already? izuku would have thought he was still underground, but when he took a closer look, the creature was none other than the tiny principal of UA heroes highschool--nedzu.
"n-nedzu-san?" what was he doing there? izuku was just going on a normal patrol at dawn--just why was he here?
"ah..sorry for the rude interruption. but yes, i want to talk. just talking."
he tensed up as the rat principal strolled towards the edge of the rooftop, where izuku was perched upon. as he walked closer, izuku can't help but doubt that this innocent-looking reature was the principal of the most prestigious hero school in japan. oh well.
"sooo.." he began slowly.
he chuckled, and if izuku was not his alter ego, blank, who was supposed to be an experienced local vigilante, he would have just slowly leapt away. but he had to keep his repuatation. "i just happened to see you here, blank. and-i thought we'd talk! i have never seen you face-to-face anyways!"
ah screw this. it took all of izuku's vitality to not cringe and flee, seeing that this rat was so close to him, enough to cuff him at least. he was not going to take that this was a mere coincidence that they just met on a rooftop in the middle of presumably nowhere.
seeing that izuku did not respond, the rat continued. "you did a great job on disguising yourself with the mask. it helped to make your chinline less prominent."
izuku was getting more suspicious second by second. what did the rat really want? what was his true goal? despite respecting UA's principal, as it was his dream school, izuku surveyed the rat for any signs of skepticalism. he was great at reading people, it just came to him naturally. however, there was not a trace of deceit throughout the creature. maybe he was actualy honest. but no, things don't work out tat way, because they never did.
"yeah.."
"alright... i think i have wasted enough time wandering on. i need to get straight to the point now, and please brace yourself as it might be something sensitive to you."
uh. no..? are they gonna expose me or what? did they send the principal of UA here just for this?
"let me get this out. you are quirkless, right?" he looked at him expectantly.
fucking hell.
----------
"i knew from your fighting style, you know. you might not have realised, but you have a few fans among my coworkers." his lips curled into a smile before continuing. "that's when first took note of you."
"so i was right. this was no mere coicidence, you came here to find me. to hunt me down and cuff me to the police, right?"
"actually, no if that's what you are thinking. this is purely for the talking purpose." he coughed slightly, before continuing. "i only watched from a far distance, and from all the evidence and info my coworkers had gracefully given me i finally came to the conclusion that you at least, fight quirkless."
oh. so that's where he's getting at. eraserhead now, right?
izuku thought of that time when he fought with eraserhead. not fighting alongside as allies, obviously. however, izuku did remember the man getting close enough to erase the nonexistent quirk off of him. ah, so that's where he's getting to. that's where he knew.
so eraserhead, whom izuku found out was actually aizawa shouta as a civillian, was a teacher at nedzu's school? izuku made a mental note to hack into UA's network just to check. but for now, he needed to deal with the situation in front of him first.
"however, my final intention was not to scare you off, for now at least." oh. "i wanted to ask you a question. something that concerns both of us."
"what's your true opinion on quirks?"
-------------------------------------------------
nedzu had gone away, and izuku was back at his house, cooped up comfortably in his room with a cup of hot latte in hand. his mom was still long-gone for working overseas, and he was left at home himself, free to all internet access.
izuku has been thinking about what nedzu asked earlier, but he did noot want to respond. not just yet. plus, nedzu said he would be waiting there next week on the same day as well, so no need to panic, huh?
not wanting to think out anything for now, izuku flipped open his laptop and began hacking into UA's network for information. he needed to know what he meant by 'us' when he said it. he said they were alike..but how?
soon, izuku found what he was looking for. aizawa shouta, aka eraserhead, was indeed working as a teacher at UA. that confirmed his primary suspicions. then, he began looking for nedzu's info, but to his surprise, he found nothing but a blank namecard, containing only primary information that the entire world probably knows. everyone knew that he was one of the rare animals with a quirk, high specs for nedzu's case, and he was experimented on by humans.
was that what he meant by the indifference? they were both outsiders to this society of superpowers, and while nedzu's case was being tortured and operated on for any signs for quirk manifestion, izuku's case was being singled out for being one of the 20% quirkless population in the world. and not to mention the numbers are dropping everyday, part of it being some of the older generation's quirklesses and the new ones suiciding or being killed in villain attacks. izuku was one of the few that stayed alive, which was a not so fortunate case for him. it's not like he really wanted to stay.
as he scrolled through the different info of UA, his laptop screen was suddenly covered by a bright red sign, warning him to get off the website. hurrying to turn the network off as izuku was not keen for his laptop pc number to be found and arrested, he slammed the laptop shut immediately after that.
sighing heavily, he realised it was already quite late. izuku got up to stretch and brew another mug of caramel latte just before making dinner though.
this was going to be such a long week.
Notes:
lmao, this really sucked and confusing, plus it's short. but i promise everything's gonna be explained in the net few chapters, so please stay for now qwq
