Chapter 1: INTRODUCTION

Chapter Text

The 1st of September was a day that Jungkook never celebrated. He wished he had never been born as it was his birth that led to the inevitable death of his parents. From what he was able to piece together through the first century of his life, Jungkook’s parents were powerful. They were each pure-blooded, third-generation fairies. Each generation was stronger than the next and this union between them made other supernatural creatures fear Jungkook’s power. As a result, on the day of his birth, a group of trolls decided that it was their ‘duty’ to kill his parents and kill Jungkook.

However, instead of killing Jungkook, they abducted him and raised him to be a slave, a servant for the clan of trolls for all of his immortal life. Jungkook found out later that they enjoyed the feeling of power. They enjoyed having a creature more powerful than they serve them. The anger that Jungkook felt was so strong, so blinding, but there was nothing he could have done. He never had the possibility to train his powers and he was too weak to go against them, especially when they outnumbered him by a lot. Any attempt to run away or fight was quickly destroyed until Jungkook accepted his fate.

He served the troll clan for around a century before their ultimate demise and he was taken in by a feral werewolf who made Jungkook serve him in every way possible. By then, Jungkook’s anger and hope had been killed by the years of pain and abuse of the trolls’ hands. He knew that there was nothing that could be done. He was weak and hopeless. He was only good for one thing: serving.

Jungkook served the werewolf for the whole length of his mortal life until he died of old age. The fairy felt no love for the man who had used and abused Jungkook, but he did feel lost. For the first time in his immortal life, Jungkook has no master, nobody to serve.

After his master’s death, he wandered around his house for a few weeks before he finally ran out of food. Every corner of the house haunted him and after a terrible nightmare filled with the faces of all of those who had wronged him, Jungkook woke up abruptly with something burning in his chest. He wasn’t able to put a name to the feeling as he had only known loneliness and pain for so long.

This burning consumed Jungkook and he couldn’t handle it. He stumbled out of bed and ran down the stairs, almost falling down as he was so weak. He looked around frantically. For what? He didn’t know. He only knew that when he spotted his late master’s favourite lighter, there was only one thing he could do. He grabbed that lighter that just like any object in this house, held dark memories. The memory Jungkook associated with this lighter was the time it was used to burn the corner of his right-wing after he accidentally dropped tea on his master’s shirt. Jungkook shook his head and tried to push away the dark thought as he felt the burning in his chest worsen.

He ran to the kitchen and stopped right in front of the stove. He robotically put his arm out and turned on all of the gas stoves. He watched the blue flames for a bit until the foul smell was too much to bear. For a split second, he thanked his master's paranoia as all the doors and windows were locked, meaning that all of the gas would be trapped inside the old house.

Jungkook walked out slowly of the kitchen and into the lounge room. This room was where Jungkook’s memories were worst and he felt the burning from his nightmare come back in full force. Jungkook swallowed and slowly made his way to his late master’s favourite couch. Jungkook was always forbidden to sit there so when he did, he felt a thrill go through his veins.

He sat there breathing in and out, occasionally flinching at the burning in his chest. Finally, when the foul smell reached the lounge and it surrounded all of Jungkook’s being, he put the lighter in front of his face. He had been squeezing it so tight that Jungkook had its shape imprinted into his palm. He blinked once and softly brushed his thumb on the spark wheel.

Immediately, Jungkook felt his world explode and his skin and wings burned as the house exploded into flames with him in it. Although it was more painful than anything Jungkook experienced, he smiled at the pain. It was welcomed as it made Jungkook forget the burning inside of him. He closed his eyes and smiled at the darkness. He thought that this was it, that the last thing he would see was the terrifying darkness, but then he saw her,

Like the first rays of sunshine in the morning, in the sky that was once consumed with darkness, she came into his life.

Jungkook was laying in the ashes of the house, he couldn’t feel his wings and tears stung his eyes when he realized that they were burnt off. Just as he was finally going to give up, just as he was going to cut his connection with the earth, Queen Mina found him. She found him and suddenly Jungkook wasn’t lost.

“Hello, Little One,” she said with her soft voice, a small, gentle smile adorning her soft and beautiful face, “What’s your name?”

Jungkook felt tears once again emerge as he thought about it for a long time. W-What is my name? Jungkook frowned and thought long and hard before he finally remembered.

“I-I think it’s J-Jungkook?” His hoarse voice said, making Jungkook flinch at the pain that went through his body at the effort it took. Jungkook didn’t know what to expect but he certainly didn’t expect this beautiful woman’s eyes to start tearing up. Jungkook started to panic and as though she could read his mind, she let out a wet laugh.

“Little One… Jungkook,” the fairy’s eyes filled with wonder at another person actually saying his name, “My name is Mina and I want to help you. Can I?” Jungkook observed and analyzed her face to try and see if there was any trickery or deceit there but only found compassion. He hesitantly and slowly nodded, frowning a bit at the pain. However, the pain quickly disappeared when he watched her gorgeous face glow as she gave him a face-splitting, joyful smile. Jungkook would always remember this moment as for the first time in his life he felt something he once thought was impossible: he felt cared for.

☀☀☀

After their initial meeting, Jungkook had fainted and she carried him all the way back to her castle. Jungkook found out years later when she was hugging him tightly after one of his nightmares woke him up, that she was out on her morning walk when she suddenly felt like she needed to take the longer path which she usually avoided.

“It’s fate,” she said with a bright smile that made all of Jungkook’s tears dry as he shyly smiled back.

“Fate…” he whispered to himself, putting a hand to his chest as he felt his racing heart.

Mina was the queen of the kingdom Seven and she was a vampire. However, unlike the rumours surrounding vampires, she wasn’t mean or monstrous. She was a kind and strong ruler that promoted equality for all. Because she had creatures of all species in her kingdom, Jungkook was quickly welcomed, although he still was looked at with awe and admiration by others due to the rareness of fairies.

Jungkook was put in the royal garden where he was able to heal after a two-week rest. Thankfully, Mina had studied fairies and knew that they were healed by the earth so Jungkook was able to quickly heal, even his wings were regenerated.

When he woke up from his long sleep, he felt lighter, stronger than he ever was. He grunted as he tried to stand up on his shaky legs. When he was finally able to stand up, he took in his surroundings. He was in a garden filled with some of the most beautiful flowers Jungkook had ever seen. The garden was protected by a glass dome where lights hanged down making the space look like a fairytale. Jungkook caught sight of clothes and a note that was on the floor next to where he was once laid. Jungkook bent down slowly and took the note in his hands. The late master had taught him how to read and write when he started serving him as he needed help with work at times.

Dear Jungkook,

I have left clothes for you to change. There is also a small fountain behind you where you can wash up.

Please do not be scared. We will not harm you in any way.

Welcome to kingdom Seven, where all species and creatures live together in peace and harmony.

Sincerely,

Queen Mina

Jungkook swallowed and softly put down the letter. He eagerly went to the fountain where he washed grime, dirt, and ashes off his skin. After he finally felt clean, he gently walked to the pile of clothes and put them on with no hesitation. The cloth was so soft and silky. It also smelled nice which made Jungkook sigh in pleasure.

He looked around the garden and was able to find an exit. Jungkook stood in front of the wooden door and hesitantly walked opened it. He was greeted with a beautiful hallway with white marble floor and lights everywhere. Jungkook counted to three before he took his first step in the hallway. He squeaked at the coldness of the marble, but quickly took another step. One by one, step by step, he could hear the tap of his bare feet against the marble and smiled at the sound. His amazement and curiosity about everything around him made him unaware of those around him who watched him with awe.

The first thing people noticed was his beauty. Jungkook had soft brown hair with soft pink tips. His eyes were green with purple streaks that shined in the light. His skin was softly tanned with soft freckles that were white instead of brown. He also had jewels that looked like stars that decorated his face right beside his right eye. The second thing they noticed was his wings. He had gorgeous purple iridescent wings that let out small amounts of sparkles every time they fluttered.

Jungkook continued his exploration before he found himself in a huge room. He froze the second he stepped in as it was filled with people of all species. They all immediately looked at him as he stepped in and Jungkook squirmed at their shocked expressions.

“Jungkook,” he heard and he looked to the direction of the voice and felt his eyes widen when he caught sight of the beautiful lady that he talked to. She had beautiful long and silky-looking light brown hair that was decorated with silver accessories. Her eyes were a dark brown that reminded Jungkook of his favourite chocolate and they were filled with light and sweetness. She was the most beautiful person Jungkook ever had the pleasure to know. His eyes went even rounder when he saw the crown on her head.

“Welcome, Little One.” she said with a large smile, “Welcome to kingdom Seven.”

☀☀☀

Life for Jungkook changed so drastically that he occasionally had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. Queen Mina took him in and introduced him to society. She taught him everything he needed to know and after a few years of living with her, Jungkook made a promise to her.

“Mina,” Jungkook whispered, as he turned his head to look at her. They were on the ceiling of the roof, looking and gazing at the stars. Jungkook observed the gentle smile on her face and the small wrinkles that were starting to appear. She had met Jungkook in her early twenties, but she was now in her mid-thirties and it slightly showed, though she was still as beautiful as the day Jungkook first saw her. Jungkook, however, had not aged as fairies remain immortal.

“Yes?” She whispered back, turning her head to look at him. Jungkook watched the joy in her eyes and he felt his smile grow. She was getting married the next day to Chaeyoung, the army’s general, who was also a vampire. They had been in love for so many years and Jungkook could still remember the day Mina finally confessed her feelings. Jungkook had been telling her to do it for years and when she finally did, Jungkook celebrated it with her just like this.

“Do you know what a fairy’s promise is?” he chuckled at her confused frown as she shook her head. “When a fairy promises something, their word is bound by nature and if they break their promise, they die.”

“Jungkook, don’t,” Mina ordered as she suddenly sat up. However, Jungkook ignored her and instead looked up at the stars.

“I used to look at the dark skies and only see darkness and I feared it. But when you came into my life, you showed me light and now, I can finally see the stars that were always in front of me.” He looked at her and smiled fondly at the tears in her eyes. “You are my best friend, my saviour, the… the mother I never had” He admitted as tears came into his eyes, “And I want to promise you something-”

“Don’t.” She said sternly as she grabbed his hand. “You don’t owe me anything. Don’t do this because you think you owe me.”

“I’m not,” He answered softly as he softly brushed his thumb over her hand, “I’m doing it because I love you.”

Jungkook sat up and pulled on Mina’s hand so she could stand up as well. Silently, he led her to the garden and sat down on the spot where he was able to heal and wake up to a new life.

Jungkook held her hand with his left hand and put his right-hand flat on the grass.

“Consider this a wedding gift,” he said cheekily with a wink making her laugh. Her laugh died though when his eyes suddenly glowed purple. “I promise and vow to forever and always protect kingdom Seven with all of my being for the rest of immortal life. I promise to use my mind, body, powers and soul and dedicate my life to the people of kingdom Seven and to always serve them and protect them when the situation calls for my protection.”

Jungkook’s wings glowed and fluttered as golden sparkles started to surround them and shine everything. Under Jungkook’s hand, the earth glowed green and Mina watched in awe as the whole garden started to light up with Jungkook’s powers.

Finally, Jungkook closed his eyes and the glowing stopped. The golden sparkles melted into the grass and gave birth to small yellow tulips that were now spread out everywhere. It was beautiful and Mina couldn’t help but burst out into tears and she hugged Jungkook and gently whispered:

“Thank you Little One.”

Jungkook continued to serve queen Mina and queen Chaeyoung until their inevitable deaths. Jungkook had cried as he held Mina’s hand as she laid sick in her bed. Chaeyoung had already passed three years prior and she was ready to join her. Even if her last moments, Mina had been kind as she softly brushed his tears and told him “don’t cry Little One”.

Jungkook grieved their deaths and felt a pain worse than any he had ever felt consumed him, but instead of giving up, he dedicated his life to serving the next ruler.

He continued to serve kingdom Seven and after 200 years of protecting them, Jungkook had seen many things. He had seen and fought in wars. He watched as the world grew and changed and he adapted with it, enjoying the new changes and living every day like it was his last. Some people would have given up by now, especially after watching those they loved to die again and again, but Jungkook saw the beauty of it. He had a duty to fulfill and while he grieved each and every person, he also celebrated their lives and made sure to take care of their loved ones for them.

Some years were hard, especially when wars happened and Jungkook saw death more than he wanted. However, after he was saved by Mina, he immediately started training his powers and he had to admit that he understood why some feared his birth. His powers were truly unmatched and Jungkook found himself finishing wars faster and faster as kingdom Seven never lost.

After a while, wars stopped, with no kingdom daring to fight them knowing that Jungkook would always be there as their protector. Peace reigned and Jungkook found himself living a serene life with a small but comfortable house in the garden where he spent his days learning and trying new things.

His life adopted a new cycle which remained unchanged until unexpected news came: the kingdom had 6 new princes.

Chapter Text

Jungkook woke up that day to an unusual ray of sunshine. As an immortal who has had the same purpose and routine for the last 200 years, he learned very quickly that certain things never change. For example, every morning, the same group of wolves would come to the river near Jungkook’s little home and would play together. Another thing that never changed was the way the sun shined in his home.

At 7 am, one ray of sunshine would appear through the window and would stay directly on Jungkook’s face. However, today, the ray of the sun laid on his chest where his heart was. Jungkook frowned at this unusual change and looked out his window to see if anything caused this. To his amazement, the dead tree that Jungkook had tried again and again to heal to no avail was blooming and in excellent form.

Jungkook’s mouth dropped and after putting on his favourite silver robe and some shoes, he ran outside to the tree. The wolves at the river lifted their heads in defence but quickly went back to their fun as they saw it was only the fairy.

Jungkook watched in awe as the beautiful tree seemed to sprout out of nowhere. The fairy gently laid his hand on the trunk and heard a soft humming coming from it. How peculiar… Jungkook thought to himself as flowers of all colours began to bloom the second he made contact with the tree.

Jungkook looked up at the sky and watched as a white butterfly flew over his head. What do you have planned?

Jungkook continued to admire the tree for a bit before he made his way back home to start his day. The first thing he did is turn on the kettle and put some toasts in the toaster. While this was happening, he made his way to his bedroom where he opened the curtains and windows, allowing the shining sun and the gentle breeze to say their good mornings which he returned by giving the sky a large smile.

Hearing the kettle whistle and the toaster beep, he quickly made his bed and went back to his small kitchen. He had his usual breakfast: a mint tea made using his own mint leaves from his garden and a toast with strawberry jam that he got for free from a nice woman who he once saved.

Jungkook quickly cleaned up while humming a soft tune that Chaeyoung used to sing and made his way to his bedroom to get ready. He looked through his small closet and decided to go with a more colourful outfit: a flowy purple skirt that stopped right before his knees paired with a skin-tight white shirt that showed a bit of his stomach. He went to the bathroom to do his morning business before he started tackling the hardest part of his routine: what do I do with my hair?

Jungkook had recently decided to let his hair grow out and now it was at a comfortable armpit length that made styling his slightly wavy hair hard. After some consideration, he decided to go with a classic hairstyle by putting it half-up-half-down and adding an elastic with a fresh light blue flower on it.

The fairy went back to his bedroom where he looked himself over in his body-sized mirror and after a nod of approval, he made his way out to continue the rest of his routine.

So first, I need to go say ‘hi’ to Mariel to see if she feels better after falling yesterday. I also need to see Serge since he’s supposed to have the books I ordered delivered to him. I should probably pass by the flower shop to help-

“Jungkook!”

Jungkook froze in his steps as he looked back at the person who called his name. This is unusual, he thought to himself as he looked at the guilty-looking Dawn and Hyuna who were both in their royal garments and wearing their official crowns.

“Your Majesties? Can I help you?” He asked curiously. He observed how they both had a new sort of glow that radiated their happiness and while the couple was known for always being quite happy, they hadn’t been for the last two months.

It had been a year since the royal vampire couple had decided that they were ready for kids but after months of nothingness, they decided to ask a professional for help. Jungkook was there with them when they found out two months ago that Hyuna was unable to have kids. The news was devastating and Hyuna especially had a hard time dealing with it.

So to say the least, seeing them this happy and glowing with childlike joy was making Jungkook extremely curious.

“We don’t want to bother your morning routine but there are people we would like you to meet?” Dawn answered as he bounced from one leg to the other in excitement.

“It’s no worries! Who would you like me to meet?” Jungkook inquired once more as he watched the king and queen share a huge smile.

“We would like you to meet our sons!” Hyuna said excitedly as she squeezed her husband’s hand is joy at the ability to even say that sentence.

“Wait… What?!”

☀☀☀

How did I not know about this? Jungkook thought to himself in wonder. As the protector of this kingdom, he made it his business to know every big thing that happened to make sure that he could properly serve the people. If someone was having a child, he knew. If someone got into a fight, he knew. So to not know this, especially when it is related to the royal family, was a mystery to Jungkook.

He was currently waiting in the official lounge room of the castle where important meetings were held. Hyuna and Dawn had told him to wait while they went to find the boys and Jungkook, still shocked, couldn’t even answer before they ran out in excitement.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them like this… The fairy thought fondly as memories emerged from years ago back when the king and queen were younger and more childish and excited. His nostalgic thoughts were stopped when he heard the footsteps of multiple individuals coming towards the room.

“Is this person important?” He heard very softly from an unknown high pitched voice.

“Very important. This person will be your grandfather, father, brother and best friend.” Jungkook heard Hyuna answer faintly putting a smile on his face as he remembered the past queen say this to Hyuna when she was a child.

Jungkook stood up tall and straightened out his skirt as he heard the door slowly open and he watched as one, two, three, four, five, six little boys stood in front of him with Hyuna and Dawn standing behind them with large smiles on their faces.

“Jungkook,” Dawn started as he looked at each of the boys with love in his eyes, “These are our six sons. Starting from the left is Taehyung, Jimin, Hoseok, Namjoon, Yoongi and Seokjin.”

“They are all vampires and ten years old,” Hyuna added excitedly as she softly put a hand on Hoseok’s head.

Silence. Nobody said anything as Hyuna and Dawn held hands nervously at how the interaction with Jungkook and the boys would go.

The silence was broken when Yoongi, a small little boy with mint coloured hair and cat-shaped eyes pointed a finger at Jungkook’s skirt.

“Why are you wearing a skirt? Isn’t that for girls?” Yoongi boldly said as he frowned slightly.

“Yoongi!” Hyuna said in outrage as she leaned forward to put his arm down so that he wasn’t rudely pointing at Jungkook. Jungkook smiled softly at the little boy’s boldness and acknowledged that the tone of his voice was more curious than accusatory.

“Because I want to. Plus,” Jungkook said with a twirl, “don’t I look pretty?”

Jungkook watched with fondness as Yoongi’s pale face turned pink.

“Y-yes,” a small voice piped up. Jungkook looked to the left to see the smallest boy, Jimin, with a small blush on his cheeks, “Y-you look v-very p-p-pretty.” He stuttered as he tried to make eye contact with the fairy but failed due to his nervousness.

Jungkook chuckled softly and walked toward the kind little boy and bent down to his height.

“Thank you, Angel.” He softly patted Jimin’s hair and watched in amusement as his face got even redder and his eyes widened with childish wonder.

☀☀☀

After the meeting, Hyuna and Dawn asked to talk to Jungkook alone at the end of the day to which Jungkook obviously agreed to. The fairy continued his day, catching glimpses of the boys throughout the day as Hyuna and Dawn gave them a tour and introduced them to the people. Jungkook grinned every time he caught one of the boys’ eyes as it always resulted in them blushing and smiling back shyly. So cute!

The day passed by quickly as it always did for Jungkook. He was now in his kitchen brewing tea for Hyuna and Dawn who were sitting at his small dining table facing his back.

“We got them at a slave auction,” Hyuna said, breaking the relaxed silence in the home. Jungkook had already figured as such when he observed the boys and saw traces of red bruises around their wrists and ankles, signs that they were shackled for a long time.

“On one of our trips a month ago, we accidentally went into a bar not knowing that they were conducting slave auctions.” Dawn continued, his voice serious and grave. Jungkook didn’t need to look at him to know he was frowning. “We saw those boys and we couldn’t help ourselves. They were so small and so so so scared.”

Jungkook finished preparing the tea and turned to face the king and queen as he put their teas in front of them.

“The fear in their eyes was too much. We had to do something”

“We bought them and put them in a home for people who are healing from slave auctions.” Hyuna finished as she looked into Jungkook’s serious face with an apologetic face. “We meant to tell you but we didn’t know if the boys were going to be able to recover.” She grabbed Dawn’s hand and smiled softly, “but yesterday we got the call that the boys were ready and while they still need time to process and heal, that they were ready for a new home.”

“But how are they not scared of you?” Jungkook couldn’t help himself from asking.

“We made sure to call them every night and after a while, they started calling us mom and dad on their own,” Hyuna answered with a fond smile.

“The therapist told us that is was extremely rare for children who have gone through so much trauma to accept and trust an adult so quickly. She said that it must have been destiny.” Dawn continued with the same look of fondness that made Jungkook smile.

“I understand.” Jungkook finally said after a few minutes of silence. Hyuna and Dawn looked at the fairy with hopeful eyes, “Just like I did with any other child of royalty, I will treat them the same way and I promise to protect them as I did you and all the other royals before you.”

Hyuna and Dawn smiled with such happiness that Jungkook couldn’t help but tear up. I missed your happy eyes…

“Thank you Jungkook! Thank you… for everything” Hyuna answered with a small smile that held years of love and memories. Jungkook smiled at her with all the fatherly love he felt for her.

After talking for a bit, the king and queen decided that they should probably go to the castle and put the children to bed, but not before Dawn shared a small secret with Jungkook.

“Don’t let the boys know I told you but after your initial meeting, I had Yoongi came to me and ask ‘does he have to be our grandfather, father and brother? Cause I’d rather he be my lover.’  To say I was shocked would be an understatement,” He confessed with a chuckle, “But visit us more at the castle! I’m sure the boys will be happy to see you.” The king finished with a wink making Jungkook laugh.

Those little boys… I’m happy they bring you happiness. I will protect them and your happiness with all my being. Jungkook swore to himself as he watched the beautiful moon from his window. A beautiful night sky for a beautiful day…

Chapter Text

Jungkook sighed as he picked up a yellow tulip and added it to his basket full of colourful tulips.

Do they really think they are being sneaky? he thought to himself as he looked in the corner of his eyes where he could see Joonie and Jinnie ‘hiding’ behind a bush.

Ever since they came to the castle, the boys grew this sort of obsession with Jungkook. Honestly. the fairy found it quite cute and endearing, but sometimes it made him worry about their safety since Jungkook regularly frequented the forest where many species could hurt them.

For the first few months, the boys slightly avoided Jungkook, worrying him a lot, but afterwards, he noticed how they would always try to look for him and when they saw him, they would blush. Dawn thought that their little obsession with him was adorable even calling it a crush but Jungkook merely dismissed it as curiosity since Jungkook was quite special looking.

His hair had since grown even more to the point where he could do a perfect braid without any hairs falling or sticking out. Jungkook loved it and he loved decorating it with flowers and accessories that Mina had given him. However, he had run out of flowers so he was currently picking some up to refill his stock when he noticed straight away that the boys were following him once more.

After those first initial months, the boys got bolder and bolder, following Jungkook wherever he went. When Jungkook expressed his worries and concerns to Hyuna and Dawn, the happy couple gently dismissed his worries saying: “We trust you!”

Jungkook secretly thought they were happy with the princes’ new hobby because now the king and queen had more time for themselves. Jungkook shivered in disgust at the thought.

“Are you going to continue following me the whole way?” Jungkook asked out loud with a small smile on his face as he decided that any farther in the forest would be dangerous for them.

Jungkook waited for a response and when he received none, he turned around to see the boys trying to hide behind a tree. Jungkook giggled at the cute sight and gently walked towards them so that they couldn’t hear his footsteps. Finally, when he was right in front of the tree, he stuck his head to the side and yelled: “Boo!”

The six boys jumped and some even squealed in fright. They all looked at the fairy with big eyes as they fell over each other.

“I’m sorry but I don’t think you would make very good spies,” Jungkook giggled as he took in their surprised expressions.

“A-are you mad?” Jimin asked softly. All the other boys were quite comfortable speaking with Jungkook. They were still shy but Jimin was the only one who still stuttered. Jungkook smiled fondly at the little boy and gently ruffled his orange hair.

“I’m not mad. But,” Jungkook started and he watched with amusement as all of their eyes widened in worry, “I do have to draw the line here. I’m fine with you boys following me around,” the vampires looked at each other in amazement since they truly thought they were being sneaky all this time and that the fairy never knew, “but the forest is dangerous and you could get hurt.” Jungkook finished, his tone firm but soft.

“But we won’t get hurt! You’ll protect us!” Hoseok offered happily, his heart smile making Jungkook want to cuddle and spoil the sweetheart.

“Of course! I’ll always protect you, but I’d prefer to avoid situations where you could be harmed.” Jungkook reasoned as the little boys started pouting in disappointment.

“Okay,” Jin glumly agreed as he softly pulled on the others’ arms and started walking towards the exit.

“Do you need me to accompany you?” Jungkook wondered worryingly as he watched Taehyung almost trip over the root of a tree sticking out.

“We’ll be okay!” Namjoon reassured the immortal diligently as he carefully grabbed both Jimin and Yoongi’s hands as they were the smallest of all the boys. Jimin happily grabbed his brother’s hand while Yoongi grumbled and rolled his eyes, but Jungkook could see how he squeezed Namjoon’s hand tightly.

Jungkook watched as they walked away and before he turned back to his flower picking, he caught sight of a bunny and carefully bent down to make eye contact with the furry creature.

“Please make sure they get out safe,” Jungkook ordered gently as he softly patted the bunny who nibbled on his finger in agreement and swiftly hopped after the boys.

Perks of being capable to communicate with the Earth and all its creatures, Jungkook thought happily as he spotted a beautiful purple tulip and walked towards it.

While Jungkook was continuing his task without worry for the boys, he forgot to mention that there were six boys to the bunny. So when the bunny reached the group, they followed them carefully, not knowing that there shouldn’t be five boys but six.

Taehyung, the most stubborn of all the boys, decided to break off the group and continue following Jungkook as he didn’t want to go home. The others didn’t even notice because they were too busy fighting over who should lead the way.

“I should lead! I’m the oldest!” Jin pouted making his cheeks puff out.

“By two months!” Yoongi protested as he glared at the other boy. While Namjoon and Hoseok were trying to calm them down and Jimin watched with worried eyes, Taehyung was able to slip away as he tried not to giggle.

“Now what way was it?” Taehyung mumbled to himself as he tried making his way back to where they were. The small vampire wasn’t worried and walked towards what he thought was the right path, but as the time passed and the trees got taller and thicker, and it seemed as everything was darker, the little boy started getting scared.

“Be a big boy!” Taehyung said out loud to motivate himself as he continued walking, albeit at a slower pace. He looked around and watched as the once green grass was now dead and it seemed as though there were no creatures around him, just nothingness. Finally, he reached an empty space where it seemed like there used to be something there.

Taehyung hesitantly walked towards the center and the closer he walked, the dustier it became. Taehyung coughed and looked down and frowned at the floor under him.

“It almost looks like ashes…” He murmured, confusion colouring his tone and as he observed his surroundings, he noticed one spot where there was no ash. Taehyung carefully walked there and frowned at the empty spot. Instead of ashes, the spot was silky black, and against his better judgment, Taehyung leaned down to gently touch the spot.

“It looks so wei- AHHHHHHH”

Jungkook lifted his head in alarm as he heard a horrified, painful scream echo through the woods at once. The scream continued and Jungkook’s eyes widened in horror as he recognized the voice. TAEHYUNG!

Jungkook immediately put his hand to the Earth and spread out his power throughout the whole forest to find him. Oh no… Jungkook thought to himself when he finally realized where he was. The fairy ran as fast as he could, using his wings and the connection he had with the wind to help him speed up. Not even a minute later, he found himself where Taehyung was.

The little boy’s hand was trapped in the black spot as dark roots went up to his arm and his pupils were fully dilated.

Jungkook ran towards him and put his hand on the boy’s. STOP! The fairy ordered as he used his powers to repel the creature holding Taehyung. Immediately, Taehyung’s hand was released and he collapsed in Jungkook’s arms, sobbing painfully.

“Taehyung! Taehyung, are you okay?!” Jungkook asked frantically as he lifted him up bridal style and carried him out of the wicked space. The boy didn't answer as he continued sobbing.

Jungkook began flying towards the castle, making sure not to go to fast as it would make the little vampire sick. When he arrived there, the sun was setting, and Taehyung’s cries had softened slightly. Hyuna and Dawn were outside talking to guards as the other boys stood behind them, their eyes filled with tears and concern. They caught sight of them and Hyuna and Dawn vampire-ran to them. Jungkook quickly put Taehyung in Hyuna’s arms.

“M-MOM!” Taehyung cried as he sobbed once more, hugging Hyuna tightly as Dawn watched him with a heartbroken expression.

“What happened?!” Dawn turned to Jungkook, his eyes were so worried and so scared that Jungkook couldn’t help but feel somewhat guilty.

“I found him in a spot in the woods where he shouldn’t have been,” Jungkook answered simply as he watched the other boys run towards Hyuna and touch Taehyung to try and make him feel better,

“What spot?” Hyuna asked making all the boys’ faces, including Taehyung’s, turn to him. Jungkook hesitated, but as he watched their worried expressions he decided that this was something that he could trust them with.

“He found the spot where I used to live,” Jungkook vaguely said.

“When you first came to the kingdom?” Hyuna inquired further, a frown on her face as she tried to piece things together.

“No. Before I came to the kingdom,” Jungkook swallowed as he said those words. He had long since made his peace with that part of his life, but the memories would forever plague him. He watched as Hyuna’s eyes widened with realization as she nodded and stopped asking questions.

After Chaeyoung had died, Jungkook wrote a book about the beginning of his life as a way to try and cope with the loss. He wrote it so that he would never have to share that part of himself again as he did with Mina and Chaeyoung. It was still painful for him to remember the beginning of his life but he felt it was important for future rulers to know about his origin. Hyuna was the past rulers’ daughter and the day she took over the throne, Jungkook had given her the book in silence and left her alone. She barged into his house hours later, with tears in her eyes, and jumped in his arms as she cried for him.

Jungkook watched as Hyuna made eye contact with him one last time, mentally telling him ‘I’ll ask for the details later’ before making her way inside the castle. Dawn followed her as well as all the other boys, except Namjoon who stayed back with Jungkook.

“Is he going to be okay?” The little vampire asked making Jungkook smile softly.

“He will be okay,” Jungkook promised as he watched the boy nod and run after the others. Jungkook watched him, making sure he reached them safely before the smile on his face dropped and he made his way back into the woods.

Jungkook walked with confidence and strength as he reached the place that frequently emerged in his nightmares.

“It seems like even now you are still causing pain to others,” Jungkook snarled as he looked at the dark spot. The spot was exactly where Jungkook had left his former master’s body, in the deep basement, without a proper burial. He didn’t deserve a proper burial, Jungkook thought to himself as he watched the dark spot. It seems as though he grew a fungus.

Sometimes, rarely, creatures don’t fully leave the Earth after their passing. This is usually due to their wickedness. Some people are so wicked that their bodies leave a residue of their cruelty so that even after they die, they still hurt people. This was called a fungus.

Jungkook stayed there for a few minutes, glaring at the spot before he took a deep breath and decided that it was time to say goodbye. The fairy touched the spot and was immediately hit with pain. Jungkook, however, didn’t even flinch and smirked instead.

“Is this suppose to be painful?” Jungkook spat as he put his other hand on the spot as well, “I’ve been through worst,” He said out loud bitterly as his eyes begun glowing purple and he started healing the Earth. Fairies were quite rare and usually very secretive so the extent of their powers isn’t well known. Even to this day, Jungkook is shocked by what he finds about himself. Right now, he was connecting with this piece of land and healing its soul of all the bitter memories it held. By healing the soul of the land, it would be able to be reborn and grass and flowers would replace the ashes that stayed there even after all the years.

Goodbye, Jungkook thought to himself as he finished the healing process and one tear went down his face, hitting the Earth which made a yellow tulip bloom instantly. Jungkook smiled at the flower and happily walked away from the space, never once looking back.

Jungkook looked at the sky and watched as the stars shone extra bright that night. It’s late… He thought to himself, but his curiosity and concern overwhelmed his body. After quickly deciding mentally, Jungkook made his way to the castle and walked towards the boys’ room. When he finally reached the wooden door decorated with colourful drawings made by Taehyung, he sighed and put his hand out hesitantly. He slowly opened the door and when he looked inside, he flinched when he noticed that all the boys were awake and looking at him.

“Sorry to wake you up,” Jungkook said sheepishly as he watched all the boys scramble to cover themselves as they were wearing pyjamas with cute patterns on them, “I just wanted to check up on Taehyung.”

The boys looked at Taehyung who watched Jungkook with wide eyes and a soft blush on his cheek.

“Okay,” The boy whispered softly making Jungkook grin. The fairy didn’t want to step on them as their bed was basically the whole floor so that it could fit all of them, so he flew over them, making little sparkles fall down from his wings fluttering. The vampires watched in wonder and giggled at the sparkles.

Jungkook finally reached Taehyung and softly sat down next to him and put his hand on his head.

“Are you feeling better?” He asked gently as the boy blushed even more, “Did your mother tell you what that place was?”

“She said that one day I’ll understand when you give us a book,” Taehyung answered shyly as he looked down and played with the hem of his shirt. Jungkook let out a breath of relief at the boys still being blissfully ignorant.

“She’s right. One day, when you boys are older, I’ll give you a special book,” Jungkook explained with a fond smile on his face. “It’s late. I’ll leave you boys so you can sleep.”

He gently kissed Taehyung’s forehead and flew over the boys once more as he made his way outside.

“Goodnight Princes,” Jungkook finally said before he closed the door. Right when the door closed, Jungkook could hear the princes whine and complain.

“I can’t you believe he kissed you!” Jin whined.

“You’re so lucky,” Yoongi grumbled.

Jungkook put his hand on his heart and looked up at the sky, These little vampires’ cuteness is going to kill me , he thought endearingly as he walked away happily and could hear Taehyung’s soft giggles echo in the hallway.

Chapter Text

Jungkook giggled as watched Hyuna scold all the boys after their last stunt.

“Now what made you think that climbing the tree was a good idea?!” She asked angrily as she put her hands on her hips and glared at all of the pouting vampires.

Hoseok mumbled something under his breath and Jungkook held back snicker as he observed Hyuna’s left eye twitching in anger.

“Please say it out loud Hoseokie. I heard you but I don’t think Jungkookie heard you.” The queen said while tapping her foot impatiently as she turned her body so that she wasn’t shielding Jungkook who was standing behind her.

“Jungkook wasn’t giving us attention,” He mumbled louder while pouting. All of the other boys nodded in agreement as they pouted and looked at Jungkook as though it was his fault. The fairy rolled his eyes in amusement at the ridiculous accusation but still couldn’t help giggling even more.

After that one incident in the forest, the boys stopped trying to be sneaky and openly followed Jungkook around. They seemed to always get into mischief and it drove Dawn and Hyuna mad.

“Maybe they’re at that age?” Dawn had suggested at first, but after Jin almost got his leg eaten by a siren when he jumped in deadly waters in the forest, the vampire couple decided to get to the bottom of it.

They spent 3 hours in a room with the boys and after they came out, they immediately found Jungkook and glared at him.

“It’s all your fault!” Hyuna had whined desperately as she collapsed on his couch. Apparently, the boys had liked it when Jungkook worried about them and gave them attention so they tried seeking it no matter the consequences.

Jungkook still couldn’t believe that the boys continued having this silly crush on him. He had to admit it was cute, but it was quite ridiculous. The boys had only now started showing their vampire traits as their canine teeth grew out bigger and sharper. They also began feeding by themselves. Before, just like any young vampire, since they don’t have the teeth they need to suck blood, the blood needs to be handed to them already in a cup or bowl. Now the boys can suck the blood out of animals by themselves. The fact that they only now started this highlighted just how young they were, especially compared to Jungkook.

But now that the boys were growing, Hyuna and Dawn started giving them specialized lessons focused on their responsibilities as princes and possible future kings. One of these lessons was actually led by Jungkook who gave them classes on magical creatures.

The boys loved the classes, not only did they get to spend time with Jungkook, but the classes happened in the royal garden protected by the glass dome and lit up with beautiful lanterns. The boys would honestly spend the whole time just looking at the beautiful fairy in awe as they enjoyed how the lanterns highlighted his beautiful features.

But strangely enough, one day the boys didn’t come to their usual lessons so Jungkook immediately found Hyuna who helped him find them. After worryingly searching for the princes for a few minutes, they finally found them at one of the largest trees near the forest, trying to climb it.

This is how Jungkook found himself giggling endlessly at being accused of something preposterous while Hyuna and the boys glared at him.

“It’s not funny,” Yoongi grumbled as he crossed his arms. Jungkook’s giggles didn’t cease and after a couple of minutes of Jungkook trying not to cry and the vampires pouting, he finally was able to calm himself.

“You’re right,” Jungkook sighed as he watched his breath. He paused for a bit before letting his smile drop and made his face serious and stern, “You boys doing something so ridiculous and almost getting hurt is not funny at all. It’s dangerous.”

The princes’ mouths dropped at Jungkook’s sudden change of attitude while Hyuna smirked happily, pleased that something was actually being done.

“I’ll be on my way then. Have fun!” Hyuna yelled happily as she skipped towards the castle.

Jungkook watched her walk to the castle safely before turning to the 12-year-old boys who were looking at him with their best puppy eyes.

“Nope, not going to work! And as punishment for putting yourselves at risk, not coming to class and making your mother and I worry, you will be cleaning the royal stables.” Jungkook ordered making the boys whine and complain. Jungkook gave them a sharp glare and they quickly stopped their complaints and walked sadly towards the stables.

“This is your fault,” Taehyung grunted towards Hoseok who had the idea to skip class and climb the tree.

“Not true!” Hoseok whined defensively, “Plus, at least we got to see a new side of Jungkook!” He said cheerfully, trying to make the situation seem more positive.

“That’s true…” Jimin mused out loud dreamingly as all the other boys also sighed happily.

He looked so pretty mad… His wings fluttered so quick and the sparkles made him look like he was glowing , they thought to themselves.

When the boys first met Jungkook, it was as though their whole world froze. The way he smiled so prettily and twirled made him look like a goddess. His beauty was out of this world, and not only that but his whole aura shined brightly. After going through such hard times, the vampires had only known sadness and anger for so long. Hyuna and Dawn had given them so much warmth and compassion and it was so easy for them to see the royals as their parents, even if they weren’t actually blood-related.

Jungkook, however, made them feel hopeful. They had overheard their parents briefly talking about Jungkook’s past and even if it was brief, the boys still couldn’t believe just how strong Jungkook was to be able to move on from that pain and still smile every day. Their newfound respect and adoration grew, and as the boys got to know him more and more, they couldn’t help but fall in love with the kind fairy.

Their musing was quickly cut short when they finally reached the stables and their father was there to greet them.

“Jungkook told me about what you did and what your punishment is. I’m here to supervise you,” He said with a wink as the boys groaned once more and made their way to get gloves, pants and shovels (it wasn’t the first time they got in trouble and had to clean the stables as punishment).

Dawn watched with a fond smile as the boys quickly got to work. They’ll make fine princes, he thought proudly as the vampires put in actual effort into their task even if they didn’t want to do it. After watching them for a while, he decided that the boys didn’t need his supervision and he went back into the castle to work, not knowing what would happen just minutes after.

“Ugh this stinks,” Yoongi grumbled as he scooped a large clump of poop.

“We know Yoongi,” Jimin answered sharply as he rolled his eyes.

“Hey! Don’t roll your eyes at me,” Yoongi fired back hotly as he stopped shovelling and glared at Jimin.

“I’ll stop rolling my eyes when you stop complaining! We get it! This sucks, but your complaining isn’t making things better,” Jimin snarled back as he also stopped shovelling to glare back at his brother.

“You brat!” Yoongi growled, stepping towards the smaller boy and giving him a harsh push.

“Don’t push me!” Jimin protested as he pushed Yoongi back just as hard. Quickly the situation escalated as they started pushing each other and ultimately hitting each other. The other boys watched with wide-eyes, not knowing what to do.

What the boys didn’t know is that somebody had been watching them this whole time. Jungkook, after being terrified for their safety after the last incident, had assigned a hawk to always watch the boys and report back to Jungkook if they needed help. Lately, Jungkook had stopped assigning the bird (which is why he couldn’t find them this morning), but as they walked back to the stable, he quickly told the bird to watch them.

As the fight got worst, the hawk swiftly flew towards Jungkook and told him what was happening.

“Shoot!” Jungkook swore as he stopped what he was doing and ran towards the stable.

When he was there, he quickly caught sight of Jimin and Yoongi punching each other while their brothers yelled at them to stop.

“Hey!” Jungkook yelled, catching all of the boys’ attention. Jimin and Yoongi stopped hitting each other and their faces blanched when they realized what they were caught doing.

“J-Jungkook!” Namjoon yelled in shock, his tone happy and relieved.

“Get up!” Jungkook ordered sternly at Jimin and Yoongi who had been rolling on the floor while fighting. The two vampires gulped and slowly stood up, their heads down as they avoided eye contact with the fairy.

Jungkook sighed in exasperation as he watched all the boys looking guilty. After not saying anything for a bit, Jungkook finally decided to break the tense silence.

“What is going on?” Jungkook whispered anxiously, loud enough for the boys to hear. Shocked to hear his tone so sad instead of angry, Jimin and Yoongi looked up and observed as Jungkook’s face was frowning in confusion and worry. “You boys have been acting up so much lately and I don’t know what to do.” He confessed as he tried to plead with his eyes for the boys to give him an answer.

“You don’t take us seriously,” Jimin answered, surprising Jungkook with his boldness.

“What?”

“We love you Jungkook!” Jimin exclaimed with teary eyes. All the boys, Jimin included, blushed at the confession but still continued making eye contact with Jungkook. After receiving no answer, Yoongi decided to chime in.

“We love you and we know that you love us but it’s not the same! You only see us as kids and it’s not fair.” Yoongi complained, his eyes and all of the other princes’ eyes sharing the same longing and desperate gazes.

Jungkook stayed there frozen as he tried to come up with something to say. This is what has been troubling them so much! B-but how else do they want me to see them? They are kids!

Jungkook cleared his throat before gently answering, his voice soft to not furthermore upset the boys.

“Boys… you have to understand that for me you are kids. I am quite old and you are merely 12 years old,” Jungkook started. He watched Jin open his mouth to complain but quickly said something before he did, “BUT… maybe we can have this conversation later when you are older.”

Jungkook winced internally as all the princes’ eyes shined with happiness at the idea.

“How old?!” Jin asked excitedly as the other boys’ carefully waited for Jungkook’s answer.

“Uhhhhh… 25 years old?” Jungkook answered randomly. He expected the boys to complain about how it would be in a long time, but to his amazement, they all nodded seriously.

“Perfect! Then when we are 25 years old we will get married!” Taehyung announced joyfully making all the others cheer excitedly.

“W-wait?! Married?!” Jungkook yelped. What is going on???!!!

“Then it’s settled!” Namjoon clapped his hands making all the boys quiet down and look at him expectantly. “Let's go tell mom and dad to make it official,” He ordered as he walked inside calmly, the others following him not as calmly.

“Wait!” Jungkook yelled after them as he fast-walked to catch up with them.

What have I gotten myself into????? He whined internally as he tried to think about what he was going to tell Hyuna and Dawn.

Chapter Text

“This is so boring,” Hoseok complained as he looked around the ballroom. The other princes made noises in agreement as they all sighed sadly.

Last month, Hyuna and Dawn had announced that they were throwing a ball in honour of the boys. After getting adjusted to royal life, the king and queen thought it would be appropriate to introduce the new princes to royals and important people from other kingdoms.

The vampires had been so excited. For a month they started looking for the best clothes to wear. Taehyung and Hoseok especially went on a huge journey to find the best clothes. In the end, after a month of preparation, the ball finally came and the boys were all dressed dashingly. They decided to get matching crushed velvet suits with different colours for each of them. Namjoon’s was blue, Jin’s pink, Yoongi’s black, Hoseok’s silver, Jimin’s gold, and Taehyung’s was green.

The boys felt super handsome and were so excited, but part of that excitement died when they saw that Jungkook wasn’t at the ball.

The boys were waiting outside the main door where they were soon going to be introduced. They were all coping with it in different ways. Taehyung and Jin were excited and loved the theatrics of all of this. Namjoon looked like he was about to puke. Jimin was shaking a bit and he looked terrified. Hoseok was daydreaming and wasn’t even thinking about it. And last but not least, Yoongi didn’t care.

TOO TOO TOOOOOOOOM

The trumpets sang, signalling that the boys were going to step out.

“AND FINALLY, WE ARE PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE, THE PRINCES OF KINGDOM SEVEN”

The doors opened and all the boys forgot about their fears or their excitement. They stood up straight, schooled their expressions and walked out boldly.

The ballroom was beautifully decorated with lanterns falling from the ceiling, reminding them of Jungkook’s garden. The white marble floor was even shinier and Jin was pleased to see that he could see his own reflection.

As they walked down the long stairs in dramatic fashion, people around them clapped, looking at them with awe and curiosity. Jimin looked to their parents and smiled at the emotions in their eyes.

They were all enthralled in this feeling of power. People were staring at them as though they were transfixed and they had to admit that the feeling was nice. Those feelings died when Yoongi brought something to their attention as they finally reached the bottom of the stairs.

“Guys? Where’s Jungkook? I can’t see him.”

“Mom, where’s Jungkook?” Jin had asked after all the initial introductions were finally done.

“Jungkookie usually never comes to events like these. He finds them boring, plus it always attracts unwanted attention he says,” Hyuna explained as she watched her adorable sons pout. This crush truly is something special…

She thought back to last year when the boys declared out of the blue that they would be marrying Jungkook when they were 25. Hyuna’s jaw dropped while Dawn started laughing hysterically. Jungkook came right away after their confession and looked at his long time friends with a bewildered expression. Hyuna chuckled at the fond memory and when she finally stopped reminiscing, she noticed that the boys had left and were now all sulking.

“What’s the point of dressing up if Jungkook won’t even see us!” Taehyung whined to which Hoseok agreed with wholeheartedly.

“I know this sucks, but we have to try to talk to people,” Namjoon advised, his responsibility and duty always keeping him on track. However, the mature vampire hid how much he was bummed out. I even did my hair, Namjoon thought to himself with a pout.

“Ugh I hate talking to people,” Yoongi grumbled, his complaints ignored as Jimin pulled him to the dance floor towards a group of young people.

For the next few hours, the princes decided to make their parents proud and socialize a lot. Unshockingly, they were very popular, especially with the ladies. Jin especially was being asked by almost every teenager in the ballroom to dance. His beauty was truly unparalleled and while Jin liked the attention, it was starting to make him tired.

“All these people are so obsessed with my beauty,” He dramatically whined as he leaned on Namjoon who snorted at his arrogance.

“Too bad Jungkook isn’t,” Yoongi teased making Jin’s cocky smile turn into a scowl as he glared at Yoongi.

“I wonder what Jungkook is doing,” Jimin wondered as he stared out the window at the beautiful moon.

“Why don’t we go see?” Jin proposed with a mischievous grin.

“What do you mean?” Namjoon asked, his curiosity shining in his eyes.

“We should sneak out and go to Jungkook’s house!” Jin claimed. The others’ eyes widened as they contemplated it. All of them were on board except for Namjoon who was hesitating.

“B-but mom and dad might get mad,” Namjoon warned as he internally struggled. He knew that they were supposed to stay but every part of him wanted to see Jungkook. Namjoon found himself fascinated with Jungkook, especially with his knowledge. Sometimes, Namjoon would reach out to Jungkook privately and for hours Jungkook would patiently explain different things. The vampire was especially interested in plants so the fairy would write notes for him, explaining what each plant meant and what they could be used for. His knowledge and intelligence made Namjoon idolize him even more.

“Joonie,” Jin stepped in front of Namjoon and put his hand on his shoulder, “Jungkook.” It was all he said but it was enough to convince him.

They all went to the bathroom one by one, trying to be sneaky as they passed in front of the guards who watched them carefully. Finally, they were all able to meet outside and they giggled as they lightly ran to Jungkook’s home.

“It smells so much better! The ballroom was so stuffy!” Jimin said when they finally went outside.

“Shhhhhhh,” Hoseok loudly shushed them as they neared the house. “Let’s try to surprise him,” He proposed, his eyes shining with mischief. The boys all nodded and giggled as they doubled their efforts to be sneaky. Jin looked through a window and saw nobody in the kitchen so they quietly went into the house. Their steps were extremely quiet and as they all gathered in the kitchen, they started wondering where he was.

Jin put a finger on his lips and made a sign to order them to stay where they were. Jin carefully opened the door to his room and saw that nobody was there. He gestured to the others who followed him. Suddenly, as they went into the bedroom, they heard Jungkook.

“My life has been a movie all the time~” They heard him sing, his voice coming from the bathroom.

“Is he singing in the shower?” Taehyung wondered quietly out loud. Their plans to surprise him were destroyed as they just stood in his room and listened to him sing. His voice was so clear, almost like a crystal except it wasn’t sharp. Instead, it was soft and breathy, like a beautiful summer breeze that overtakes a person’s whole body.

The princes felt hypnotized, they were unable to move.

“Wow…” Yoongi breathed when Jungkook started hitting higher notes.

“I love him…” Jin confessed, the others all nodding. They stayed there, listening to his song and they were so hypnotized that they didn't notice that the water in the shower had stopped. Jungkook continued singing and the boys, at one point, had all sat down on the floor, leaning against one another. They had their eyes closed, almost falling asleep when Jungkook went out. When the boys heard the door open, their eyes snapped open and they stared with big eyes as Jungkook stepped out.

Oh. My. Moon.

“Boys? What are you doing here? Isn’t there a ball tonight?” Jungkook asked curiously as he watched the boys looking at him with their jaws dropped.

Jungkook waited for a bit but did not get any response. They all just stared at him, their faces extremely red and for a second he was worried they weren’t breathing. Jungkook looked behind him to see if there was something there, but then he caught his reflection. The fairy chuckled when he realized why the boys were frozen.

“Sorry. Let me go put a shirt on,” He chuckled as the boys blushed even more. Jungkook had stepped out of the bathroom with only a towel around his hips. He went to his closet and got his pyjamas. “Turn around please?” Jungkook asked softly when the boys were still watching him when he was about to change. They all scrambled to turn around and Jungkook giggled.

He finally got changed and went on his bed to sit down.

“So why are you here?” He asked gently. The boys turned back around the face him and it seemed as though they were still processing what they had just seen. “Come here,” Jungkook ordered with a fond smile as he opened his arms. The boys’ faces were confused at first but then they lit up. They all ran to sit on his bed and leaned against him. Hoseok had been the fastest and he jumped in Jungkook’s arms. The fairy hugged him tight but made sure to hug all the others.

They all cuddled for a bit, a comfortable silence between them. They are so small, Jungkook thought as he stared at the small boys. They were now reaching puberty and he knew that they would soon start growing. I’m going to miss you boys being so cute and tiny, The fairy thought, sighing sadly internally. As a fairy, he was naturally short so he knew that they would soon be taller than him. I hate being short, he thought.

Jungkook’s thoughts continued along the same line, however, the vampires’ thoughts were much more different.

SHIRTLESS !!!!

ABS?????!!!!!!

WATER RUNNING DOWN HIS CHEST!!!!!!

HE IS SO PRETTY!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

WHY DO I FEEL THIS WAY????!!!!!

They were all internally freaking out, confused by these new feelings that they were experiencing. Jungkook had always been pretty to them, but seeing him shirtless… It made them feel differently and they didn’t know how.

“Jungkook?” Hoseok’s small voice broke the silence and Jungkook made a noise to let him know he was listening. “What was that scar?”

While the boys had been freaking out, they had forgotten about the scar. On Jungkook’s stomach, there was a thin white scar, obviously from an old wound, but still very impressive and scary.

Jungkook took a deep breath and put his hands’ in Hoseok’s and Namjoon’s hair, softly petting them.

“Well, a long time ago, there were a lot of wars,” Jungkook started, his voice light and airy, hiding the harsh reality of war and all the horrors that came along with it, “One year, an assassin was sent into the kingdom and they were able to sneak into the castle. Thankfully, a few days prior, I put a protective field around the castle that alerted me whenever an unknown individual went into the castle. I was able to catch the assassin just as he was about to kill the king with a sword.”

Jungkook let his words echo in the warm room, allowing the boys to process his words.

“You put yourself in front of the king and the assassin stabbed you,” Yoongi said, not asking a question but stating what had happened. Jungkook nodded and felt the boys try to hug him even closer making him smile.

“I would do it for you too,” Jungkook confessed making the boys look up at him in surprise.

“Because we’re princes?” Taehyung asked. Jungkook smiled fondly at the boy and softly boop-ed his nose.

“Because I love you,” Jungkook simply answered, the honesty in his words making the vampires almost tear up.

They knew that the type of love he felt for them wasn’t the one they necessarily wanted, but it was enough for now. Being able to be loved by Jungkook, no matter which type of love it was, it was one of the greatest gifts they could have ever received.

“We’ll protect you too,” Namjoon declared which made Jungkook’s eyebrows raise in surprise since Namjoon wasn’t the type to say such things so boldly. Namjoon seemed to realize what he had said and a blush took over his face, making his chubby cheeks look even cuter.

“Thank you,” Jungkook answered, a huge smile decorating his face. Thank you for making me enjoy life once more, Jungkook thought secretly as he watched the boys start to fall asleep. Thank you for giving me a new purpose…

“Enemies,” Taehyung started seriously, his voice low and grave due to puberty, “As princes, we will encounter many enemies. And today,” He looked at his brothers who were sitting around a table, looking at him with serious expressions, “Today we meet our first enemy.”

Yoongi growled and stood up quickly, his chair moving back so fast it fell down.

“This is ridiculous! What are we doing here wasting time when we should be over there stopping him!” He hissed, glaring at Namjoon who was sitting down calmly at the head of the table.

“Yoongi. I understand your frustrations, but we must plan before acting.” The purple-haired vampire answered calmly. Yoongi mumbled swear words under his breath but agreed and sat back down.

“I think we should challenge him to a duel,” Hoseok stated. The others looked at him with wide eyes at his words, his first words of this whole meeting. Hoseok had not talked once, only listened as the others brainstormed but after careful thinking, he knew this was the right idea.

“I agree,” Jin defended him when he saw Namjoon open his mouth to argue.

“Me too,” Jimin added.

Namjoon looked around and saw Yoongi and Taehyung nod along to their words, their eyes burning with the need to act and fight. Namjoon sighed but decided to go along with it.

“Fine,” He conceded, a frown on his face as he calculated how they could win, “This is our plan....”

☀☀☀

5 DAYS BEFORE

“Boys, we have an important guest who is coming today so please get dressed quick and come downstairs to the gate,” Hyuna ordered, quickly stepping out of their room to go prepare things for their guest.

“Guest? I didn’t know we had a guest.” Jimin frowned as he looked to Namjoon for answers, frowning even more when he had to look up even more than before. Ever since they started going through puberty, all of the boys were starting to change and all of them, except Yoongi and Jimin, were getting taller. Stupid tall people.

“It must be a last-minute decision kinda thing,” Namjoon hypothesized as he quickly got dressed and waited for the others to finish to walk to the gate.

As they walked towards the gate, they were all surprised to see Jungkook also waiting at the gate.

“Jungkook? What are you doing here?” Taehyung asked, confused but happy to see the fairy. Jungkook was known for not really socializing unless he needed to and they had never seen him be there to greet any sorts of guests unless it was a king or queen.

“Hello, boys!” Jungkook said cheerfully, his smile making them all blush slightly as they all murmured greetings back. “The guest today is a crown prince so it is important that I greet him.”

“To make good relations?” Namjoon asked with stars in his eyes as he looked at his idol. Jungkook’s eyes became mischievous at the question and he smiled slightly.

“No. To remind him that I’ll always be there to protect Kingdom Seven and that he shouldn’t get any funny ideas when he becomes king.” The boys stared at the fairy in shock as it had been the first time he’d ever said something so dark. So hot~ Yoongi and Jin sighed internally as they admired his rebellious expression that they never see on the perfect fairy’s face.

“Boys get ready! He’s about to come.” The boys quickly stepped forward beside their parents and put their back straight in perfect posture. Jungkook stood slightly behind them, but close enough that the guest would see him.

The gate opened and a carriage came through, stopping right in front of them. Hyuna and Dawn put on a warm welcoming smile and the door to the carriage opened to reveal an extremely handsome man.

The man looked like he was in his late teens, early twenties. He had dark brown hair that made his slightly golden skin shine. He was dressed in a traditional black suit with a pin on his breast pocket with the symbol of his kingdom.

He stood in front of Hyuna and Dawn and bowed at them.

“Hello King Dawn and Queen Hyuna, I am crown prince Mingyu of KIngdom Seventeen. Thank you for welcoming me into your home,” He said perfectly, a gorgeous smile decorating his face.

Hoseok gasped slightly from the side and nudged his brothers as he discreetly pointed to the crown prince’s neck which was decorated with green scales.

A dragon!

“It is nice to meet you Mingyu,” Hyuna started softly, “It is a pleasure to welcome you into our home and we hope that your stay is comfortable and pleasant. Please let us know if you ever need something.” The prince smiled back genuinely.

“We would like you to meet your guide for your stay. Jungkook,” Dawn started, turning around to show Jungkook who was waiting behind them. Jungkook smiled at the prince but didn’t bow.

“It is nice to meet you crown prince. My name in Jungkook and I am the protector of Kingdom Seven.” The fairy’s words were gentle with a hidden message behind them that would usually intimidate people, but it seemed as though Mingyu was unaffected. Instead, he looked at Jungkook with a look that seemed very familiar to the royals.

“Oh, my Moon.” Mingyu stepped towards Jungkook and grabbed his hand, slowly bending down to kiss his hand. “I have heard so much about you and it is an honour to finally meet you!” Jungkook’s eyes widened at his words, shock colouring his expressions while Hyuna and Dawn tried not to laugh at the situation. Their sons, however, were not laughing at all. Instead, they looked as though they were fuming. How dare he kiss Jungkook’s hand?!

“Oh… I’m flattered,” Jungkook awkwardly answered as he slowly took his hand away and carefully wiped the back of his hand on his clothes, a move that went unnoticed by the crown prince who was staring at him with adoration. I’ve seen this look before… Jungkook thought to himself as he grimaced at the attention he was receiving.

“Would you like me to show you to your room so that you may settle down after your long trip? I can pick you up in two hours to give you a tour of the cast-”

“No need to wait two hours!” Mingyu said excitedly as he cut off Jungkook, “I don’t need to rest at all! I have great stamina.”

Dawn couldn’t help but snort at that last comment, disguising it as a cough as Hyuna tried not to cry of laughter. The boys were oblivious to the connotation of the crown prince’s words while Jungkook’s smile got a bit more strained as he awkwardly laughed.

“Um… Sure… Then I’ll have your luggage brought to your room and we can start the tour now.” Jungkook turned around, not waiting for Mingyu’s answer as he tried not to explode. This was the main reason why Jungkook hated socializing. People always seemed to have some sort of weird view of Jungkook and it sometimes led to types of attention that he didn’t want. He looked back to see if the dragon-shifter was following him and saw Mingyu staring at his ass. Jungkook turned back forward and sighed. This will be a long week…

☀☀☀

“This is so unfair,” Jimin whined as they watched Jungkook and Mingyu hang out in the garden from their bedroom window.

“I wasn’t even able to say ‘good morning’ to him today,” Namjoon said in a sad tone prompting Hoseok to pat his back in a reassuring manner.

Ever since Mingyu had come, he was constantly hoarding Jungkook’s attention. Every time the boys would try to hang out with him or talk to him, Mingyu would ask for something and none of them could tell him to leave Jungkook alone.

That’s why, after 5 days of torture, the boys have decided that enough is enough.

After their meeting where they decided to challenge him to a duel, they immediately went to work. They gathered their swords and shields and prepared for battle. Right now, they were waiting for Jungkook to leave the garden so that they could ambush Mingyu.

Finally, after half an hour of them furiously watching Mingyu try to flirt with Jungkook, Jungkook was called by their mother so Mingyu was left alone.

“Let’s go!” Yoongi ordered as they all ran down the halls and stairs to go to the garden.

“Crown Prince Mingyu of Kingdom Seventeen, we challenge you to a duel!” Seokjin said boldly when they reached the garden. The prince looked at them with wide shocked eyes.

“M-may I know why?” Mingyu asked confusedly. What is happening? he thought to himself as he watched the much smaller princes all dressed up in fighting gear, wearing a glare so dark that Mingyu was astonished.

“You are trying to steal Jungkook!” Seokjin answered in a ‘duh’ tone that made Mingyu’s jaw drop.

“Yeah! And you can’t do that! Jungkook is ours!” Jimin added, his high pitched voice making Mingyu smile slightly.

Ah, that’s why, he mused as he tried not to laugh. He had noticed that the boys were attached to Jungkook but he didn’t know that they had a crush on him. This is adorable, he squealed internally.

Mingyu took a second to control his expressions and then he looked straight into the boys’ eyes with a serious face.

“I accept your challenge,” you cuties!!!!

The boys nodded seriously and looked at each other.

“Formations!” Namjoon ordered. Immediately, the boys moved into their battle formations and Mingyu had to stop himself from laughing at the ridiculousness of it all.

The boys tried to surround him and attack him with their swords which they didn’t know was made of fake metal, meaning it was basically harmless.

Mingyu easily dodged all their hits and half-heartedly played along. To be frank, he was trying harder to not laugh. Jungkook…. you might be the most loved person in the world….

Mingyu was shocked out of his thoughts when Yoongi stepped close to him. The vampire leaned up to grad the crown prince’s collar and pulled it down so that they were eye-to-eye.

“You aren't trying! Try seriously!” Yoongi ordered with a glare that actually scared Mingyu for a second. If that’s what you want, Mingyu sighed and closed his eyes. When he opened them, Yoongi stepped back when he saw his eyes were glowing green.

The boys watched in fascination as Mingyu began to turn into a dragon.

“Woah~” Namjoon admired the beautiful dragon. They all watched the dragon for a second and when they were able to process it all, Taehyung roared a war cry and they began their fighting.

Mingyu was careful not to hurt them too much but lightly pushed them and played along to make it seem real. The teenagers laughed and smiled as they fought, momentarily forgetting that this was a duel.

While the boys were having the time of their life, somebody on the other side of the castle wasn’t feeling the same.

The moment that Mingyu turned into a dragon, a maid who watched it ran to the royal room where Hyuna and Jungkook were discussing business.

“Your majesty! I am so sorry to barge in but there is a dragon fighting with the princes in the private garden!” The maid was hysterical, panicked but Jungkook only sighed. He looked at Hyuna and she nodded at him with a teasing smile.

“Thank you for letting us know. Please let the guards know that it is not a situation of concern. The boys are not in danger.” The maid nodded, still a bit confused, but bowed and ran to tell the guards not to intervene.

“I’ll be back,” Jungkook said as he walked out and he chose to ignore Hyuna laughing at him.

These boys are truly, truly, truly going to be the death of me.

Jungkook calmly walked to the garden and couldn’t help smiling at what he was watching.

He’s not even trying, Jungkook thought as he observed Mingyu’s lazy movement. He’s not even in his full dragon form.

“What is going on here?” Jungkook asked with his arms crossed when he decided that this play fighting should stop before someone actually gets hurt.

“Stand back Jungkook! We’ll protect you!” Jin yelled as tried to kick Mingyu.

“What are you doing?” Jungkook asked Mingyu telepathically.

“You can speak to me?” Mingyu asked, surprised to which Jungkook merely nodded. “They decided to challenge me to a duel because I was trying to ‘steal you away’” The dragon answered, the humour in his tone apparent as his dragon form laughed making small flames come out of his nose.

Jungkook sighed and he watched with a fond smile as the boys squealed at the small flames. He’s not going to stop. Jungkook could tell since the crown prince seemed to have so much fun that his tail was wagging excitedly like a dog.

After a few minutes of watching, Jungkook saw the first signs that the boys were getting tired, and to save them from the embarrassment of giving up, he forcefully changed Mingyu back to his human form.

Jungkook closed his eyes and sensed Mingyu’s aura. With his powers, he gently forced his aura to change from a bright green to light green, changing Mingyu’s physical form back to ‘normal’.

Jungkook opened his eyes to see Mingyu standing in his human form (with his clothes on), staring at him with eyes full of questions and awe.

“I didn’t know that was possible,” The crown prince admitted, his curiosity peaking even more. Jungkook merely smiled cryptically, before he looked at the boys who were panting.

“A little birdie told me that I haven’t been giving you guys enough attention,” Jungkook said teasingly as the boys blushed slightly. “How about I make it up to you with a sleepover?” the fairy proposed. He watched happily as their faces lit up and they all cheered excitedly.

“Go shower and get ready. I’ll come by after dinner with games we can play.” Jungkook instructed gently. The vampires nodded and they all ran inside to get everything ready and perfect.

“They really love you,” Mingyu said after the princes finally went inside. Jungkook smiled at him in response but his smile dropped when he noticed the sun was starting to set.

“The sun is about to set,” Jungkook said simply to which the crown prince sighed.

“The carriage is probably waiting for me.”

“Do you have your things? Do you need to take a shower?” Jungkook asked, still trying to make a good impression on the behalf of kingdom Seven.

“I’ll be okay, I should probably go since there’s apparently a storm later tonight and we want to avoid it.” The dragon and the fairy walked to the gate in silence where the carriage was waiting. Jungkook stayed silent, knowing that the royal wanted to say something.

“You have to be the most amazing person I’ve ever met,” Mingyu admitted as he watched the sunset. “I’m really interested in you,” He turned to look at Jungkook, admiring how the sun made him look even more beautiful, “Is there a possibility that you would be interested in me?”

Jungkook smiled at the crown prince. The fairy had gotten to know him and he knew that Mingyu was a good person.

“I’m flattered, but my duty and responsibility to kingdom Seven always comes first and I can’t afford to be distracted.” Jungkook gently answered. Mingyu’s warm eyes didn't change at his words, and it even seemed as they got warmer.

“I understand. I will soon be king and my duty to my kingdom will also always come first no matter what. But,” He grabbed Jungkook’s hands slowly to give him the chance to push away if he didn’t want to be touched, “But one day I’ll come back, when I’m king, and I’ll do whatever I can to make you my queen.”

He kissed Jungkook’s hands and bowed at him before stepping into the carriage. Jungkook chuckled softly as his bold words and waved goodbye.

Jungkook watched the carriage leave, the crown prince still waving at him.

“Would you ever become his queen?” Jungkook jumped at the sudden question. He turned around and sighed in relief.

“Hoseok! You scared me.”

“Would you?” He asked again, his troubled eyes revealing his fears. Jungkook bent down slightly. Ever since the boys had started puberty, they were growing fast, but he was still a bit taller than them.

“No,” Jungkook answered simply, watching as Hoseok’s shoulders sagged in relief, “I am only loyal to kingdom Seven.”

“So… you mean you would only become the queen of Kingdom Seven!” Hoseok yells, misinterpreting the fairy’s words.

“Huh??!” Jungkook dumbly responded as Hoseok ran inside, yelling in excitement that he had to tell the others.

“Not again!” Jungkook yelled as he quickly ran after the teenager.

BONUS:

Jungkook was sitting in the garden looking after his new bouquet. It was the day after Mingyu left and he had received a bouquet from the current king and queen of kingdom Seventeen, thanking him for being so welcoming.

He was so focused that he hadn’t even heard Hyuna stepping into the garden.

“So…” Jungkook jumped slightly in surprise and twisted to look at the queen who had a mischievous grin on her face, “ I heard that you’re after my crown.”

Before she could even finish her sentence, Jungkook yelled in outrage and threw his gardening gloves at her. The queen bent over laughing, not even trying to dodge the glove as it hit her straight in the face. Jungkook merely pouted and looked up at a squirrel that had watched this whole interaction.

They are so mean to me, he thought still outwardly pouting, but his heart warmed. My family…

Chapter Text

“We are going away for a week,” Dawn stated.

They were currently in the dining room where the king and queen, the princes and Jungkook were eating.

“Why? Is there a problem? War?” Jungkook immediately questioned. He straightened his back and his wings fluttered slightly in agitation. The princes looked at their parents with wide-eyes in response to Jungkook’s questions.

“No no,” Hyuna chuckled as she carefully pet Yoongi’s hair, making him grumble, “We would like to spend our wedding anniversary in private this year,” She said with a wink. Dawn blushed while the boys made noises of disgust. Jungkook sagged slightly, his relief clear as day for Hyuna who smiled at him gently.

“Okay, I will make charms to keep you safe.” Jungkook stood up and was about to leave but Hyuna put a hand up in stop motion.

“We already have charms that you made for us last week. However, we would like your assistance with something else.”

“We want you to babysit the boys while we are gone,” Dawn finished for her, cheekily winking at his sons who all brightened up at these words.

“There’s nobody else who we trust to actually keep them safe,” Hyuna murmured so only Jungkook could hear. The fairy nodded and smiled at the queen. I’ll keep them safe.

☀☀☀

Hyuna and Dawn had already prepared everything so after quickly saying goodbye to the boys and Jungkook, they left on their carriage with bright smiles on their faces. Reminds me of when they got married… Jungkook mused as he watched them look at each other with so much love and warmth.

“Jungkook! Jungkook!” Jimin yelled excitedly, quickly catching the fairy’s attention. “Can we play hide and seek?”

“That’s a game for little kids,” Jin whined making Jimin and Taehyung pout and glare at him.

“I forgot that you had such a bad memory,” Jimin said to Jin making the latter turn red.

“What did I forget?” He snarkily asked, to which Jimin smirked in response. The tension was building and just as Jungkook was about to stop their argument, Hoseok decided to help.

“Jungkook promised us that if we beat him at hide and seek that he would let us sleep in the woods!” It seemed as though Jin wasn’t the only one who forgot as Namjoon and Yoongi gasped in realization.

“So? Can we play?” Taehyung asked. Jungkook giggled at the boys who were all attempting to do puppy eyes.

“Fine, but let's start now because you boys still have classes this afternoon,” Jimin squealed in delight and quickly started running. “I’ll count to 100!”

“1, 2, 3…” All the boys ran extremely quickly, their vampire abilities finally developing. Jungkook sighed in sadness at the thought of them growing up. The boys were now taller than him, with Jimin just being slightly taller. They were all starting to develop their abilities and it seemed that as every day passed, the boys got even more handsome. Girls and boys from every kingdom dreamed of being noticed by them but it seemed as though they still hadn’t given up on their crush.

I wonder when it’ll stop. Jungkook had believed that their crush on him would stop when they finally hit puberty but it isn’t the case. The thought of hurting them killed him, but he just couldn’t see himself reciprocating their feelings. In his mind, they were children.

“100! Ready or not, here I come!” Jungkook yelled, giggling since he already knew where all the boys were hidden. He decided not to tell the boys but he could actually feel all of their presence through his connection to nature.

After 30 minutes of pretending to look for them, Jungkook decided that enough time had passed that their pride wouldn't be too hurt. He immediately went to look for them one by one. Unsurprisingly, they all decided to hide in the forest.

“Damn it!” Jin mumbled as Jungkook found him first. To soothe him, Jungkook put his arm around his waist (since he couldn’t reach higher due to their height difference).

One by one, the fairy calmly found all of them. All of their reactions were the same, disappointed but at the same time, not surprised.

“It’s not fair! You totally used your powers to find us,” Jimin complained with a pout, He was the last one found and Jungkook and the others had laughed for a good 10 minutes when they found him trying to pretend to be a rock.

Jungkook was still trying to calm down and when he finally stopped laughing, all the boys were looking at him with pouts on their faces.

“It’s not fair,” Yoongi mumbled to which the others agreed to. Jungkook smiled at them fondly.

“Fine, I agree, it’s not fair. And to make it up to you, we can go camping-” Jungkook started, his sentence cut by the boys starting to cheer, “in the garden,” He finished.

“What? The garden?” Taehyung asked, his disbelief very transparent.

“But the garden is so boring,” Jin challenged, his pouty lips looking even poutier.

“Those are my conditions. Take ‘em or leave ‘em.” Jungkook smiled mischievously, his eyes full of humour. The boys huddled together and Jungkook couldn’t help giggling at the situation. They might be growing up, but they are still children at heart.

After speaking in low voices for a bit, they broke the huddle and Namjoon stepped forward with his hand out.

“We have a deal,” He said with a straight face. Jungkook took his hand and shook it. They stayed there, frozen for a few seconds before they all started exploding in laughter.

Jungkook was holding his stomach with one hand, while the other was still holding Namjoon’s, and while he was laughing, Namjoon couldn’t help but muse about how perfectly their hands fit.

☀☀☀

“Okay, boys! The kitchen staff was nice enough to prepare us snacks so make sure to thank them tomorrow! The tent is pretty big so let's assign each of us roles. I wil-”

“Jungkook,” Jin put a hand on Jungkook’s shoulder as he cut him off and smirked at him, “Let us handle it.” Jungkook looked around and saw that all the teenagers had their chest puffed up with these macho looks on their faces. Are they kidding me? Jungkook snorted but decided to sit on a nearby rock and watched as the princes set up the tent.

They looked like kittens pretending to be lions. Jungkook mused, internally laughing at their attempts to be gentlemanly and to show Jungkook their strength.

While Jungkook was smiling because of how cute they were being, the vampires mistook his smile for something else.

“I think he likes it when we do stuff like this,” Taehyung whispered to Hoseok who nodded happily.

“I think he might have blushed too!” Hoseok whispered a bit loudly making his brothers shush him.

After they finally set up the tent, Jungkook looked at the sky to determine the time. It took them 40 minutes to set up a tent that usually takes 15 minutes, Jungkook opened his mouth to tease them but noticed just how proud they were of themselves. Ultimately he decided to stay quiet, though it’ll make for great teasing material if they ever get me mad.

“Jungkook! Please enter first!” Namjoon beamed with a soft blush on his cheeks.

“Thank you Joonie,” Jungkook answered, gently patting his hair as he passed (though he had to go on his tippy toes do to so).

As Jungkook bent down to enter the tent, he admired how beautiful the inside was. The boys had already organized all the food and put some fairy lights that gave it a magical mood. While Jungkook was admiring the tent, the boys were admiring something else. They couldn’t help but look at Jungkook’s butt and a warm feeling in their stomach emerged.

“Are you guys coming in?” Jungkook stuck his head out and gave them a bright smile. Jimin gulped and tried to clear his thoughts. Don’t think of Jungkook’s butt. His squishy… soft looking... round… NO NO STOP

The boys, each in different stages of flustered, with Jimin being the most, went into the tent one by one and felt their breath being punched out of them at the sight. Jungkook was under the fairy-light, the lights reflecting in his eyes and all of it was so romantic that the boys needed to take a deep breathe to control their emotions.

“Come lay down! The stars look beautiful tonight,” Jungkook softly ordered, laying down which made the boys quickly lay down to get closer to him. The lucky ones were Taehyung and Yoongi who were by his sides. They turned off the fairy lights and looked at the transparent ceiling of the tent that allowed them to watch the stars.

They spent a long time looking at the sky. Namjoon was gently explaining the different constellations after Jimin asked. Yoongi, however, couldn’t stop looking at Jungkook who looked at the stars with such warmth and familiarity that the young vampire was almost jealous.

“Jungkookie?” Taehyung softly asked to which Jungkook merely answered by making a noise to let him know he was listening. “Can you tell us a secret about fairies?”

Namjoon went quiet at the question and all of the boys waited for Jungkook’s answer. Fairies were extremely mysterious creatures and they had lost count of how many abilities Jungkook had. At times they wondered if Jungkook was really a fairy and not a deity.

“Fairies can stop being immortal,” Jungkook said, his breathy voice blending with the atmosphere. The vampires’ hearts froze at the admission.

“How?” Yoongi asked, his voice was full of emotions and his brothers understood why. Jungkook smiled at the sky and waited a few moments to finally answer.

“When fairies meet their soulmate, when they fall in love with the person who they share a piece of their soul with, they may turn mortal. If their soulmate is mortal, the fairy will become mortal as well. However, if their love is immortal, they remain immortal.”

The boys felt their hearts speed up at the secret. They were always afraid of how it would work. They knew that Jungkook had lost so many loved ones and that it was probably extremely difficult. If the princes were to successfully court Jungkook, they would be forever full of guilt for the fact that Jungkook would need to watch them die. But this changes everything.

Everything had changed recently as well. The childish idolization they held for the fairy had evolved into something more and the teenagers knew that it was mature love. They noticed Jungkook’s flaws and weaknesses but all of it made them love him more. He wasn’t just this person who protected them, but the person who offered them advice and helped them when they felt insecure. He was relentlessly supportive and he gave so much more love than he received. But they wanted to change that. They wanted to show him just how much he is loved and how much they love him as a man and not as a powerful fairy.

“How can you still love so strongly after watching so many people you love pass away?” Namjoon whispered, breaking them from their musing. Taehyung felt Jungkook flinch slightly at the question and he quickly grabbed his hand to reassure him. He also pinched Namjoon’s thigh as he was just beside him.

“Ow! Taehyun-” Namjoon’s complaint was paused as he watched Taehyung and his brothers glare at him. “O-oh! Jungkook I’m so sorry! That question was out of line! You don-”

“To be honest,” Jungkook started, gently cutting off Namjoon and offering him a fond smile since he knew that the vampire could sometimes lose his filter when he was curious, “I found my heart getting bigger and bigger as time went by and it actually became easier to love and care for people.”

“You’ve loved so many people…” Jin stated in wonder. He could never fathom loving people if he knew that he would one day watch them die. Jungkook’s strength and love were one of a kind.

As Jungkook gently fell asleep, he answered Jin’s statement without truly thinking about what he was saying.

“I have loved so many people…” Jungkook agreed in a sleepy tone, his eyes drooping as the stars lulled him to sleep. In his sleepy daze, he didn’t even register his next words, “I could probably even fall in love with multiple people,” He admitted, his words getting quieter as it went and he fell asleep, ignorant to the effects his words had.

The vampires stayed silent, careful not to wake up Jungkook but they all held hands together, watching the stars and slowly falling asleep as well. As the stars got blurry and they closed their eyes, they all went into dreamland where they dreamed of a future where Jungkook was theirs.

Ours...

Chapter Text

“JUNGKOOK! JUNGKOOK!” The fairy woke up with a jump. Hyuna was frantic, startling him, and immediately the last trace of sleepiness that he was feeling evaporated.

The queen was red-faced, out of breath and her eyes kept filling with tears. Jungkook’s heart sped up as he watched the woman he had loved her whole life look so devastated.

She was stammering, talking so fast and so incoherently that Jungkook couldn’t understand a thing she was saying. His forehead started to sweat and he stood up to grab her flailing arm.

“What's wrong?! What's wrong?!” He pleaded, his mind going to all the worst possible scenarios. Hyuna’s body stopped moving and robotically she turned her head to look at him in the eyes. It seemed as though she was frozen and Jungkook could feel panic rise in his body.

“Hyuna!” He shook her body slightly, trying to get her out of her mind so that she could communicate, “Hyuna! WHAT'S WRONG?!” He yelled. She crumpled to the ground and Jungkook felt his blood freeze at the words she was able to squeeze out in between sobs.

“T-they took… They took them! They TOOK THE BOYS!”

Jungkook was frozen, his whole body felt cold as he registered the words. Hyuna’s loud cries became blurred and Jungkook suddenly couldn’t hear anything.

T-They are gone… They… THEY WERE TAKEN

The coldness disappeared all at once as the fairy felt fury like no other. His body was on fire and Jungkook had only felt such heat when he burned down the house of his late master.

The thought that his precious boys were taken by some strangers made him feel a wave of anger so powerful that he was unaware of the magic he was secreting. The beautiful garden and the beautiful forest of kingdom Seven died as Jungkook’s heart was pounding faster and faster. Jungkook couldn’t hear anything, he could only hear his frantic heartbeat so he was unaware of the sudden clouds that emerged in the once blue sky. Thunder and rain poured so violently that some people from the town could be heard screaming in shock.

Jungkook looked down at Hyuna who was still crying. She looked up and when she looked into his eyes, she froze. Jungkook’s eyes were white with no sign of colour. Black veins were coming out from his neck and his beautiful colourful wings had turned sharp at the edges and the fairy dust was a dead gray colour.

Hyuna had known Jungkook all her life and she had never seen him like this. “Help… please,” She begged to him, slightly afraid of his new appearances.

Jungkook leaned down and put a comforting hand to the top of her head. “Stay,” He whispered with a small smile. That smile disappeared quickly and all at once Jungkook’s eyes started glowing weirdly.

FIND THEM

Jungkook ordered at all of those who could hear him. Animals, creatures and plants quickly followed his orders and went to look for the boys. Jungkook felt the fire in his body rise as time passed and no creature found them. As his anger rose, the weather got worst and the trees in the forest started growing spikes.

found you

Jungkook’s fire melted away as he looked through the eyes of the crow that found them and saw the boys. Numbness took over him as he also caught sight of the disgusting strangers who took them.

“I’ll be back,” Jungkook told Hyuna coldly as he walked outside and took in what he had done. He took a deep breath and stumbled for a second. He looked at his reflection in a window and for a second, he feared himself and his powers.

Focus! Jungkook shook his head and spread his wings to their full potential.

“Wait for me,” He whispered to the boys as he jumped in the sky.

☀☀☀

“We are so stupid,” Namjoon sighed as he tried to slightly stretch his cramped legs.

“Ouch! Whoever is doing that, stop!” Jin ordered as he felt a feet press against his arm that was bent in an uncomfortable way.

“Jungkook is going to kill us,” Jimin sighed sadly making all the other boys sigh as well as they looked back to how they got themselves in this position.

“Can you hear that?” Taehyung asked his brothers making them all quiet down. They had woken up early to pick up some herbs that Jungkook wasn’t able to get the day prior because he had to help some villagers with construction.

They were deep in the woods which they were now allowed to go in because they were old enough.

“I can’t hear anything,” Yoongi grumbled as he picked up a mushroom. Just as he said this, a whimper echoed in the woods.

“Is somebody hurt?” Hoseok worried, taking a step towards the direction of the cry.

“It doesn’t hurt to check it out. We just need to make sure not to go outside Jungkook’s protective barriers.” Namjoon reasoned as they all made their way to the sound.

After hearing three more cries, they finally spotted the creature in pain. It was a small wolf pup that was stuck under a fallen branch.

“Awe the poor pup,” Jimin sympathized as he watched the poor pup doubling his efforts to get free at the presence of strangers.

“Let’s go help him.” Jin decided. The boys mindlessly went to the pup, not taking into account that they had stepped outside the barriers.

“AH!” Taehyung yelped as a hand pulled him roughly. All of a sudden, strange men jumped on the princes and tried to tie them up with rope.

“What are you doing?!” Yoongi ordered as he fought back with all his might. However, the princes’ efforts were wasted as the kidnappers were much stronger and older. They quickly tied up the boys and carried them back to their carriage where they carelessly put them in a big trunk. They complained and screamed but stopped after a man threatened Taehyung with a knife.

“Did we just get kidnapped?” Hoseok whispered, his eyes wide and terrified.

Namjoon sighed disappointedly at himself and the others.

“We are so stupid.”

“We need to try to free ourselves,” Jin murmured so that their kidnappers wouldn’t hear them.

“How?” Jimin whimpered sadly.

“Like this,” Jin winked at Jimin and moved his leg towards Yoongi, “Yoongi, my right leg is right behind your hands. Try to get your hands into my boot, I have a knife in there,”

Yoongi immediately got to work as the others’ jaw dropped.

“When?” Taehyung asked curiously, his shoulders sagging in relief.

“Jungkook told me that he always carries a knife on him so I started doing the same last year.” He explained.

“I got it,” Yoongi whispered. The boys could suddenly hear the sound of the knife trying to cut the rope and Namjoon started worrying.

“What if they hear the noise?” His worries were pointless as all at once, a strong rain started and they flinched at the sudden roar of thunder.

“That’s weird,” Jin frowned at the rain since he knew that they weren’t planned for rain for another week.

“Guys… Look…” Hoseok's surprised tone got all of their attention. They looked through the gap in the trunk and watched as the forest around them suddenly died.

“Do you think…?” Hoseok started. Namjoon gulped and turned to Yoongi.

“Yoongi, I don’t wanna rush you but go faster,”

“Don’t worry I’m almost done,” Yoongi finally gasped and smiled at Namjoon, “Here,” He moved the knife carefully and gave it to Namjoon.

One by one, they all cut off the ropes binding them and they planned.

“Taehyung and Yoongi go first, you two are the fastest. You try and surprise the kidnappers and disarm them. Jimin and Hoseok, you guys are the strongest so once the men are disarmed, try to immobilize them. Jin and I will have your back and finish the job if there are any loose ends.” The vampires all nodded.

“Let’s get it,” Taehyung cheekily said with a wink. He opened the trunk and jumped on the nearest kidnapper.

They jumped out of the trunk and fought. The vampires might have been overpowered last time, but that was because they were surprised. Their training and their vampire abilities made them excellent fighters.

One by one, the men fell and the princes felt more and more confident. That confidence died when they reached the last kidnapper.

“STOP!” The man screamed, his high pitch voice showing his fear. The princes all froze when they saw what he was holding. He had managed to trap Jin in a chokehold and held a knife at his throat. The man was stepping back from the others, slightly slipping in the watery road caused by the rain that stopped a few minutes prior. “TAKE ONE STEP TOWARDS ME AND I’LL KILL HIM,” He yelled, his grip tightening bringing the knife closer to their brother’s throat. The princes were at a loss and just as Namjoon was about to beg, they felt a strong gust of wind come from behind them.

“How dare you?” The words were carried by the wind and they were so soft. Yoongi watched as the kidnapper’s face paled as he looked at something behind them. The mint-haired boy didn’t need to turn around to know who it was and he smirked.

In his fright, the kidnapper brought the knife so close to Jin’s neck that he actually cut him slightly. Jin yelped at the sudden pain.

It was as though a switch was flipped and the rain came back in full force. Tree roots from under the ground rose and the kidnapper stumbled and ultimately let go of Jin as the floor under him got destroyed. The roots wrapped around the man’s body and his screams were muffled by the strong branches. Jin ran to Jimin who was the closest to him and hugged him tightly.

The vampires all turned around and froze at what they saw. Jungkook looked so different as he walked towards the screaming man. Hoseok would usually be scared, but instead, he found Jungkook so beautiful. His strength and powers were omitting an aura that was breathtaking and all-consuming.

As he approached the kidnapper, the roots released their hold slightly so that his face was revealed. Jungkook grabbed the trembling man’s jaw and carefully whispered something in his ear.

“The Duke of Sterling!” He yelled, hope shining in his eyes at Jungkook’s small smile at his immediate answer.

“Thank you for your cooperation,” Jungkook coldly said. The fairy turned around and as he walked away, the roots started tightening again and the man screamed and screamed until finally, no screams could be heard.

Jungkook continued walking and didn’t say anything. The princes stayed silent and followed Jungkook. They walked all the way back to the castle in silence and the vampires didn’t know what to do.

When they reached the castle, Hyuna and Dawn immediately jumped on them. They cried as they kissed and hugged the boys, and at the same time yelling at them for being so stupid.

Jungkook continued walking, leaving the royals to reunite, and the princes looked at the fairy’s retreating back with guilty expressions.

☀☀☀

Later that night, after being hugged and lectured to death by their parents, the teenagers grew the confidence to go see Jungkook. The fairy had not talked to them and had instead locked himself in his house. The plants were still dead and the sky was still gray so they knew that something was still wrong.

Knock Knock Knock

“Come in,” They heard faintly and Hoseok, unlike his wary brothers, immediately stepped forward and went into Jungkook’s room. There, they found the fairy back to normal but different.

The black veins on his neck had disappeared and his wing and eyes were back to normal. But, the atmosphere around him was so numb and cold.

“Jungkook, we’re sorry,” Hoseok whispered. The vampires were standing in front of his bedroom door as they watched him laying down on his bed, staring blankly at his ceiling.

A minute of silence passed before Jungkook turned his head to look at them and they were stumped by what they saw. The beautiful, strong and cheerful fairy was crying.

Right as he looked at them, his silent tears became loud as he started sobbing. The princes instinctively ran to their love and tried to hug him.

“I-I was so scared!!!” He sobbed as he hugged all of them tightly. The teenagers felt their heart squeeze at the sad sight of the man they loved cry, but their hearts were also so warm to see how much he cared.

Jimin smiled softly as he looked out the window and saw the grass go back to its usual green colour and the clouds in the sky faded away to give sight to the beautiful stars.

Jungkook’s cries didn’t subside so Taehyung gently kissed his forehead. The fairy’s cries suddenly stopped in surprise and Jungkook looked into Taehyung’s eyes. Taehyung’s heart skipped a beat at Jungkook’s adorable pink face.

Jungkook stared at him in surprise before his face melted into fondness and he smiled at him in an almost lovingly way , Taehyung thought to himself hopefully.

“You boys truly are growing up,” Jungkook admitted. The teenagers felt hope bloom in their hearts as their cheeks went pink.

We are. So please, wait for us. Hoseok mused internally.

Notes:

Hey Babes! How was your week?

Did you enjoy this insight into Jungkook's true abilities? I love protective Jungkook!

Also just to clarify, vampires in this story are mortal. They live as long as humans. Jungkook, however, is immortal but can die from wounds (though the wounds would need to be extremely extensive and even then, as shown in the first chapter, Jungkook can use nature to heal himself).

I hope you have an amazing week and are in good health! Love youuuu

Chapter Text

Jungkook couldn’t think, couldn’t move. It seemed as though the world around him was blurry, detached, and there was nothing he could do to stop it.

“What?” Jungkook asked, his voice cracking slightly. Hyuna gently grabbed his hands and gave him a knowing look that made him want to hide.

“Jungkookie… This is what they need,” She answered, looking at her sons who were cheering in response to the news they had just received.

“I don’t understand,” Jungkook whispered, his heart beating faster and faster as the reality of the future was truly setting in. Hyuna sighed and put a soft hand on Jungkook’s cheek.

“Jungkook, I know you want to protect them but they are princes, future possible kings. They need to be ready for anything and they won’t be fit for the throne if we continue to coddle them.” Hyuna softly said but with firmness to her words.

“I-I understand that part b-but,” Jungkook tried to swallow the ball in his throat as his eyes burned, “ eight years?” His voice was strained as he looked into Hyuna’s eyes and saw a familiar pain.

“I know it's long,” She whispered with a wobbly voice as she also tried not to cry,” but the training they will be doing is extensive and they need this.”

Jungkook gave her a pleading look but she shook her head and went back to the boys who were oblivious to the whole exchange and were talking excitedly about their possible adventures.

Jungkook watched Hyuna and Dawn laugh with their sons as they talked. How? Jungkook frowned at the happiness being displayed by the royal family. How can you happy?

Jungkook’s bottom lip wobbled and he quickly walked out of the room to avoid the princes seeing him in this state. How could they be happy when I feel like a part of me is being ripped away?!

Suddenly, all of the pain and all of the sadness in Jungkook became unbearable so he ran. He ran and ran for as long as he could. His thoughts were empty, just full of nature and he breathed in the fresh air of the woods. However, the momentary peace died when he collapsed, exhausted because of all the running and instantly, the thoughts returned.

I spent the last 6 years or so taking care of these boys! I trained them in everything I could! I poured all of my knowledge and experience to prepare them to be kings and it’s NOT ENOUGH! Now they have to leave for EIGHT years to put themselves in danger!

Jungkook couldn’t help it and the tears he tried to keep at bay were released. He cried into the grass and as his thought spiralled more and more, the more he cried.

They could die! They could die and I won’t be there! I won’t even be able to know! What if they don’t come back! What if they decide that they don’t want to be kings! What if they fall in love and abandon us! Abandon me! W-what if..

The ‘what if’s plagued Jungkook’s mind and the lack of control he felt at this moment was unbearable. His whole life, he had been able to keep those he loved close to him so that he would always be there for them. This would be the first time that people he loves would disappear for such a long time without him being there for them.

Jungkook stayed in this spot for hours until he was finally able to calm himself. He stood up slowly and stumbled a bit doing so. He looked around him and saw begonia flowers on the once plain grass that emerged due to his tears. Jungkook swallowed and picked one up. He admired the beautiful pink flower as he walked towards his favorite spot in the woods.

Jungkook had lost his shoes while running and he could feel the earth under his feet pulsing and supporting him. “Thank you,” Jungkook whispered with a soft smile as he put a hand on a tree. A gentle breeze passed and Jungkook sighed happily at the soft words whispered by the wind.

He continued walking towards the stream and when he arrived he was surprised to find the princes there.

“Wha-” Jungkook started before getting cut off by Yoongi.

“We knew we’d find you here,” The boys were standing together and looked at the fairy with a knowing look that made him wary.

“Why are you here?” He asked as he slowly walked towards the stream and put his hand in the water.

“I didn’t know that begonia flowers grew in these woods,” Namjoon mused as he ignored Jungkook’s question making him fidget.

“They don't... usually,”

“Fear,” Jungkook looked into Namjoon’s knowing eyes and gulped, “Begonia flowers represent the fear of expecting the worst,”

Jungkook blinked a couple of times before breathing out to calm his racing heart. Why do I feel like a kid being scolded? The fairy put the flower in the stream and watched it slowly leave with the current.

They all watched the flower go away and when it was no longer in their sights, the vampires carefully walked closer to Jungkook and came face to face with him.

“Jungkookie,” Jin started as he took one of Jungkook’s hands and held it, “We understand that you are upset with us leaving but we need to do this,”

Jungkook felt the familiar feeling of tears emerging as he avoided eye contact with the princes.

“We are so grateful for everything you have taught us and without you, we would not be fit to go on such a journey,” Jimin admitted, smiling fondly at the fairy’s reddening cheeks.

“We want to be strong for Mom and Dad, for kingdom Seven and for you,” Hoseok added. Jungkook looked up at that and stared at the young adults with wide eyes.

“Kingdom Seven has been too dependent on you and while we know you appreciate it, we also want you to be able to spend a day without worrying about the kingdom,” Namjoon continued.

“We want to be worthy and we want to be able to rule alone successfully. We want to be the best versions of ourselves not only as individuals but as kings as well.” Yoongi said. These words seemed to hit Jungkook differently and the fear of not being needed started to creep in his mind.

“And this doesn’t mean we don’t need or want you to help us,” Taehyung said as he saw Jungkook’s fear in his eyes, “It just means that we want you to need or want us. We want to be the people you depend on. We once promised you that we would protect you and we still do but to protect you, we need to become wiser, stronger, and more experienced.”

Jungkook looked at these boys whom he partially raised and who raised him as well. They had taught him so much about humanity that he had forgotten. He looked at them, the princes that he devoted his life to protect, the princes that healed some of his oldest and most painful wounds. He looked at them and the boys he once saw were now gone and were replaced with these older and more confident versions of the boys who used blush every time he talked to them.

“When did you guys grow up?” Jungkook asked tearfully with a proud smile on his face. The princes’ eyes opened wide and they looked at each other with excited gazes.

Hoseok leaned forward to grab Jungkook’s other hand as Jin was still holding it and made sure to look directly into Jungkook’s eyes.

“Jungkook we love you,” The fairy’s eyes widened at the honest confession and the sudden change of subject, “We love you with everything in us. We love the way you sing to flowers to motivate them to bloom-”

“-and how you always take care of animals no matter how dangerous they are-” Taehyung added,

“-oh, and how you make flowers pins for the boys and girls in the kingdom and give them freely-” Jimin continued,

“-and how you never get annoyed at all my questions and answer them patiently-” Namjoon cut in,

“-also how you never hesitate to help others-” Jin remarked,

“-and we can’t forget how you take care for every living thing no matter what-” Yoongi mentioned,

“- yes also all of that,” Hoseok finished, rolling his eyes after being interrupted by his brothers, “We love everything about you. Your flaws, your insecurities and even your slightly controlling nature,” He added teasingly, “We love your caring nature and your heart that can love and love no matter how much pain it has suffered. We love your bravery and your strength. We. Love. You.”

After Hoseok finished, Jungkook opened his mouth to say something, anything but is cut off by Jin who kissed his hand before talking.

“We know that you still see us as children and this perception will be hard to change, especially if we see each other every day. This eight-year journey is necessary for us so that you may one day be able to see as the men we are starting to become, and not just the tall versions of the boys you once knew.”

“This is why after eight years, we promise you, Jeon Jungkook, protector of kingdom Seven, that we will court you and mate you,” Jimin boldly claimed making Jungkook laugh softly. They truly have grown up, as he watched the once extremely shy Jimin say something so bold.

When did they start to grow up?

The princes didn’t wait for Jungkook’s answer and instead stood up and gave him cheeky smiles.

The fairy stood up with the help of Hoseok and Jin who wouldn’t let go of his hands and they all slowly made their way out of the forest and towards the castle where their carriage was waiting for them.

Each step forwards seemed to weigh Jungkook down as the nervous feeling is his gut grew more and more. “It’ll be okay,” Jin whispered as he felt the fairy’s hand sweat. Jungkook nodded and took a deep breath, calming his racing heart.

They finally arrived at the carriage where Hyuna and Dawn waited. The princes hugged and thanked their parents as the king and queen tried not to cry at seeing their sons leaving.

“Thank you Jungkookie,” Namjoon said as he hugged Jungkook tightly. One by one the boys gave Jungkook tight hugs as the fairy enjoyed these last moments with them before they left for eight years. As an immortal, eight years is usually nothing but he knew that these eight years would be some of the longest in his life.

Jungkook was able to keep his tears away, not wanting the boys to see him cry right before they left. He looked at them inside the carriage and all at once they turned to him and waved with soft eyes and soft smiles that took Jungkook’s breath away. At that moment Jungkook felt his world turn upside down and he could suddenly see. He could see them.

Jungkook laughed joyfully and gave them his classic bunny smile but the boys felt their hearts stutter at the new emotion in his eyes as he looked at them. Their smiles widened and their cheeks reddened as it dawned to them what this new emotion was.

“See you in eight years, my princes.” Jungkook said out loud as he watched the carriage leave, “I’ll wait for you.”

Notes:

Hey Babes! How was your week?

Two more chapters and it's the end :(

Thank you so much for all the support and love! I know that the majority of this story Jungkook only saw the others as little boys and not at all in a romantic way, but I wanted to show that growth in the relationship.

I hope you have an amazing week! Love you~~~

Chapter Text

“Has all the food been prepped? They know not to have anything seafood-related, right?? You know how much Joonie hates eating seafood. Why are the carpets not cleaned?! Do they know how important this night is?!” Hyuna stressed as she inspected every minuscule detail of the ballroom. Jungkook followed her quietly, trying not to laugh at her dramatics.

“Hyuna, everything is going to be okay. The boys will love it,” Jungkook reassured her as he noticed that she was starting to really freak out. The queen sighed and looked at the fairy with worried eyes.

“It’s the first time for eight years that they come back. What if they realize that life outside is better and they reject us? What if they don’t recognize us?” The mother’s worries made Jungkook’s heart warm, you lucky boys have the best parents in the world.

“Hyuna, they won’t reject you at all. They love you! And they’ve spent these whole eight years training to be kings. They want to come back. I promise you everything will go perfectly,” Jungkook gently pet her hair as he used to when she was a child (though now he has to go on his tippy toes and fly slightly to reach her head).

After making sure she was truly okay, he told her to go get ready as the ball was only in a few hours. Jungkook couldn’t help the giggle that came out at seeing Hyuna gasp in realization and run as fast as she could in heels.

The fairy made his way to his house where he also had to get ready.

I wonder if I’ll recognize them. Will they recognize? It’s been so long…

Jungkook felt the familiar feeling of worry creep in his throat as he tried to ignore it. He finally reached his house and immediately went to look for nice clothes to wear.

I need to look nice since many allies will be there. I also want to look good for the bo- What am I thinking?? They might not even love me anymore…

While Jungkook panicked, he didn’t notice the box on the ground in front of his closet until he kicked it. The box was red with a white bow on it and a note on top saying “a future queen needs to look good ;) - H”.

“That cheeky little girl,” Jungkook said out loud as he laughed at the bold queen. He carefully pulled on the bow and opened the box.

“Woah…” The fairy let out at the sight of the beautiful dress. Inside was a two-piece dress that was dark blue and the top had crystals all over it that made it shine. To Jungkook, it looked like the night sky in a dress and his cheeks warmed when his first thought was I wonder if they’ll like it…

Jungkook shook his head at the ridiculous thought and took a careful deep breath. Let’s focus on the ball.

☀☀☀

The ball had started 30 minutes ago and Jungkook was fluttering his way through to greet the guests. Jungkook knew a lot of them and was actually having fun talking to so many of his old friends. He was having a conversation with general Hwasa when he spotted a familiar face.

“Mingyu!” Jungkook called cheerful after excusing himself from the conversation with the general.

“Jungkook!” The now-king called back with a large smile as he looked the fairy up and down, “You look absolutely gorgeous,” The king flirted as he bowed at the fairy and gently kissed his hand.

Jungkook giggled shyly as he also took in the dragon’s appearance.

“You look very handsome as well,” The fairy politely answered making Mingyu blush slightly and his smile widened.

“Well I was on my way to get a drink but I’ll be right back!” The king promised as he fast-walked towards the bar. Jungkook chuckled at Mingyu’s excited nature but stopped abruptly once he heard the familiar sound of trumpets.

Everybody in the ballroom quieted down as they look to the big door where the royals would be announced.

“ANNOUNCING KING DAWN AND QUEEN HYUNA OF KINGDOM SEVEN”

The big doors opened and Hyuna and Dawn stepped out, hand and hand. Gracefully and elegantly, they made their way down the long stairs. Jungkook’s heart squeezed at the signs of their old age. Their walks were slower and their hair whiter. However, their youthfulness and strength stayed constant, like the love they hold for their kingdom.

You’d be so proud, Jungkook mused as he looked to the sky, talking to Hyuna’s parents, the former royals.

The trumpets sounded again and Jungkook’s heart began to beat faster.

“ANNOUNCING PRINCE NAMJOON, PRINCE YOONGI, PRINCE JIN, PRINCE HOSEOK, PRINCE TAEHYUNG AND PRINCE JIMIN”

Jungkook’s eyes were glued to the door and when it finally opened, the fairy gasped and his jaw dropped slightly. The princes looked so different that Jungkook had a hard time believing it was them. They looked breathtaking and so much manlier than what Jungkook remembered. So handsome…

Jungkook was frozen as he stared at the princes walking down the stairs with so much power and confidence in their steps. He looked at them and instead of seeing the little boys that he helped raise, he just saw six handsome and strong men.

He noticed them looking around and he knew what they were looking for. He waited a few seconds before Yoongi finally spotted him. Yoongi’s eyes had always reminded him of a cat but now he looked like a fox. The prince licked his lips and smirked making Jungkook gulp. The vampire nudged the others and one by one, the princes looked at the fairy who was still frozen.

They stared at each other, none of them taking a step forward.

He looks just as beautiful as I remembered, Jimin thought as he and his brothers took in the beauty that is Jungkook. They stared for a while until Taehyung chuckled and murmured to his brothers: “He’s blushing as we used to when we looked at him,”

This observation made all of the boys’ chests inflate and they all smirked slightly. Finally, as they enjoyed the sight of Jungkook blushing with wide-eyes, they made their way towards him.

Jungkook’s heart beat faster and faster as the princes got closer and he could feel his wings flutter slightly from the nerves. Once they reached him, nobody said anything. Jungkook’s eyes were even wider from the close proximity as he took in the men in front of him.

Before anybody could say anything, Jungkook felt an arm go around his waist and he looked to his side to see Mingyu with a drink in his hands and a shit-eating grin on his face,

“Hey Love, I hope I didn’t make you wait too long,” The king said cockily as he tried not to cower from the princes’ heated glares.

“U-umm.. Not at all! Uhhh… This is King Mingyu, do you remember him? Y-you met him as a prince when you were young?” Jungkook stuttered as he tried to lessen the tensions.

“Dragon,” Jin spat bitterly making Jungkook flinch and Mingyu smirk even more.

“Ah yes, we met when you were tiny boys. You were so cute back then,” Mingyu teased as the princes’ glared even more, “Remember how they tried to fight me because they were jealous of me being close to you?”

“U-uh y-yes I remember,” Jungkook shyly muttered as he looked at the ground. The situation, while amusing for Mingyu, was making the fairy slightly uncomfortable. The king noticed and sighed softly.

Mingyu leaned down and gently kissed Jungkook’s cheek making the fairy jump slightly.

“My proposal from before still holds,” He whispered into Jungkook’s ear before winking at the red-faced princes and leaving them.

Jungkook took a few deep breaths to collect himself and when he looked up, he noticed the boys still glaring at the king.

“Don’t glare at him! He’s an ally!” Jungkook scolded them. He was frowning slightly and his mouth automatically shaped itself into a pout. Jungkook expected the boys to apologize and stop like they used to, but instead, they chuckled.

“W-why are you laughing?” Jungkook asked warily. Namjoon smiled at him and leaned his hand forward to tuck a stranded piece of Jungkook’s hair behind his ear.

“We missed you is all,” Namjoon easily admitted making Jungkook’s heart skip a beat.

“O-oh…” Really? You really had nothing better to say than “Oh”? Stupid Jungkook!

“You’ve somehow gotten even more beautiful than I remember,” Jin mused out loud making his brothers nod in agreement.

“A-ah…” Oh my… that’s even worse than “oh”! Why am I incapable of speaking to them?!

“Can we see you after the ball? We missed going stargazing with you,” Hoseok asked, his gaze fond and warm.

“Mhmm,” Jungkook hummed as he nodded frantically. The princes chuckled before excusing themselves since they needed to mingle. Really Jungkook?! Saying “yes” isn’t that hard! They must think I’m so stupid!!

Jungkook internally beat himself up for a few minutes before deciding that ‘what’s done is done’ and he had to try to make up for his stupidity by doing his best to talk with people. He spent the rest of the ball talking to different kings, queens, princes, princesses, generals and other important people in hopes of creating good relations with other countries.

While doing so, he carefully observed and admired the princes. They used to hate balls and talking to people but now they seemed to do it naturally. They’ve matured so much… I can’t wait for the ball to finish…

☀☀☀

The ball was finally over and Jungkook was exhausted. he had spent the better half of the event trying to politely decline all of those who tried to hit on him and it was hard to keep his cool when some made disgusting comments.

He was still in his dress when he walked outside to the garden and looked up at the stars.

“If I didn’t know any better, I would say that you are a fallen star,” Taehyung stated out of the blue making Jungkook jump slightly.

“How long have you been standing there?” Jungkook asked while trying not to blush as he noticed all the boys standing at the entrance of the garden.

“Just a few minutes. We were appreciating the view,” Jimin flirted with a wink.

Jungkook ignored Jimin’s comment and observed the boys. They looked even more handsome under the light of the moon and Jungkook couldn’t hold in his heart’s desires as he said these next two words.

“Hug me,” Jungkook pleaded.

Immediately the boys ran to him and hugged him tightly. “I missed you so much…” Jungkook confessed as he enjoyed the feeling of being wrapped in the princes’ arms.

“We missed you too,” Namjoon promised. They hugged for a bit in silence before the boys stepped away and looked at Jungkook with burning and determined eyes. They didn’t have to open their mouths as Jungkook already knew what they were about to say. We’re getting straight into it so quickly…

“Jungkook we spent the last eight years working and fighting to become the best version of ourselves to be worthy of the throne. And during those eight years, we miraculously feel in love with you more.” Namjoon started, impatient to express his feelings.

“We know this is rushed but we can’t wait anymore. Our love for you grew every time a new letter from you arrived and we can’t stand to keep it in.” Yoongi rushed.

“We know it’s been a while and we know that we’ve changed, but that’s a good thing. Please give us a chance,” Jimin pleaded, his eyes tearing up slightly.

“We’ve asked Mom and Dad for permission to court you and they said yes. They approve and they even support it,” Taehyung added, the longing in his eyes making Jungkook take a step back at its intensity.

“We don’t want you to just love us blindly. We aren’t asking for you to just accept us suddenly. We just want the chance to court you. To show you how much we love you and how we can take care of you,” Hoseok emphasized as he grabbed Jungkook’s hand and gently kissed it.

“We know it’s a lot to ask but open up your heart a little bit more. Trust us and let us take care of your heart,” Jin finished, his words trying to soothe Jungkook’s hesitance.

Jungkook hesitated, every part of him wanted to jump in their arms but the logical part of him and the scared part of him was screaming no. He looked into their eyes and saw the longing, the love and the adoration they held for him. Jungkook sighed and nodded once.

“Fine,” The princes’ eyes went wide and just as they were about to cheer, Jungkook added something else, “BUT, first you must read this,”

Jungkook kneeled to the ground and touched the earth before whispering something that the boys couldn’t catch, Suddenly, the ground opened up, revealing a book. Jungkook took the book out of the earth and gave it to Namjoon.

“I once explained to you boys when you were young that I was going to give you a book. This book holds my whole life story, my origin. Read it and if you still want me afterward, come see me.”

Jungkook stood up and went to the vampires to give them each a kiss on the cheek before walking towards his house, leaving them to read.

“Namjoon, read it out loud,” Yoongi ordered as they all sat down in the garden.

“Okay,” Namjoon carefully opened the book and started reading the first line, “The 1st of September was a day that Jungkook never celebrated…”

☀☀☀

The boys ran to Jungkook’s house. They barged in and quickly went to his room. Jungkook was in his pink silk bathrobe brushing his hair when Jimin grabbed his shoulders and looked at him in the eyes.

“We will never let anyone hurt you again,” He growled. Jungkook was still trying to process what just happened when he noticed the princes’ faces. They all had red eyes and slightly pink cheeks and noses.

“You don’t need to cry for me,” Jungkook reassured them, his eyes soft and fond, “It was a long time ago, I’m fine now,”

“We know and we also know that we guarantee that you’ll forever be fine. Nobody will ever hurt you like that on our watch,” Taehyung emphasized.

“Now please,” Jin moved Jimin to cup Jungkook’s cheeks intimately, “Give us your heart and finally accept ours,” He pleaded.

Jungkook put his hands on Jin’s hands and smiled while giving him and the others the same look they saw on the day they left. A look that had haunted their dreams for the last eight years in the best way possible. This look was not unlike his other looks full of care and protectiveness for the vampires. However, this new look had something new, a new emotion: love. Not the love that he used to feel for them when they were boys, but a mature love that was intimate and passionate.

Their hearts paused and the breath was knocked out of their chests as the beautiful fairy giggling joyfully, his eyes full of love and adoration as he looked at them.

“Don’t you understand? You’ve had my heart since the day you left,”

Notes:

Hey Babes! How was your week?

What do you think about this chapter? I know it might seem like things are moving too fast, but I really wanted to show just how impatient the boys were to make Jungkook theirs.

While I was really happy writing this chapter, I'm sad to see another one of my stories ending. I loved how different this project was from so many of my others, mostly in regard to the plot.

I don't think I'll be able to commit to a new big project since summer is near and I don't think I will be able to be consistent. However, I was thinking of possibly doing a one-shots book. This book would include random one-shots of ideas I get or one-shots based on some of my other stories. Would you be interested?

I hope you have an amazing week! Love you so so much

Chapter Text

Jungkook smiled as he slowly woke up and could feel the soft rays of the sun on his chest, keeping him warm. He kept his eyes closed as he took in the tranquil feeling of waking up in the morning so wonderfully. He stretched his arms out to the side and pouted at the feeling of cold sheets. The fairy hesitantly opened his eyes and huffed as he took in the empty room.

I didn’t even get morning kisses…

Jungkook chastised himself at the petulant thought but he couldn’t help but feel slightly down. It had been five years since the princes had returned from their eight-year-long journey and many things have changed.

Their first two years back, they courted Jungkook and proved to him that they were truly in love with him. It was hard for Jungkook as he had never trusted this part of himself with another person, so sharing it with six princes was a lot for him to take in. However, he was swept off his feet and decided that he wasn’t about to ruin this because he was scared.

The instant he agreed to become their partner, things moved fast. They asked him to move into the castle as it made them anxious for him to be so far from them during the night. Jungkook agreed after much thinking since he loved the home he made for himself. He only asked that the room they were in had large windows as he loved to look outside. His request was met immediately and for the last three years, they have been living together.

At first, they spent almost every waking moment together, but soon the boys were introduced to the reality that they had to choose what type of role they would have in the kingdom. Hyuna and Dawn had been worried that there would be a fight for who would be king, but surprisingly that didn’t occur.

Jin and Taehyung had plainly stated that they had no interest in being kings or having a role in the castle. Instead, Jin wanted to open an orphanage that took care of children of any species. The handsome vampire had always felt extremely thankful for being taken in by Hyuna and Dawn but it had been a stroke of luck. So many other children had been sold to horrible people who would abuse them for the rest of their lives. Jin wanted to stop this and decided that having an orphanage would be a good place to start.

Taehyung also felt the same way but instead of taking care of creatures, he wanted to take care of animals. Many animals, especially rare animals, were abused and hunted to be sold in the black market. He wanted to take care of these animals and give them a sanctuary.

Jimin also expressed his desire to not be king, but he still wanted to have a role in the castle. During their journey, Jimin had recounted to Jungkook how they had gone through sword training and martial arts training that differed from anything he had experienced. He loved fighting and Jungkook would sometimes sneak into the practice room to watch Jimin fight. The smaller vampire was extremely agile and moved so smoothly that it made Jungkook drool. It was unsurprising for Jungkook when Jimin decided to join the kingdom’s army and rose the ranks to become the main general.

After Jimin, Taehyung and Jin expressed their wants, the three other princes stayed quiet. Jungkook remembered seeing how nervous they were, scared that whatever they said would start a fight. A few minutes passed when Hoseok admitted that he wanted to be king. Ever since he was young, he used to follow Hyuna and Dawn around to see what they would do. His interest in the kingdom and in wanting to improve it made him yearn for the throne.

Thankfully, Namjoon and Yoongi had no problems with this. The two of them had been interested in the position but they admitted that the responsibility of the title did make them extremely nervous. Instead, the two wise princes decided to become Hoseok’s advisors. Their duties consisted of strategizing and taking care of business that the king didn’t have time to accomplish. The arrangement worked perfectly and Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok were a great team.

Jungkook had been so proud to see the men he loved flourish so beautifully but he did find himself pouting at how occupied they were.

Don’t be selfish Jungkook, he told himself as he slowly got out of bed. I don’t have anything this morning so I’ll have time to see each of the guys.

With this goal in mind, he quickly got ready. He put on a nice flowy white shirt accompanied by tights black pants that he knew his lovers liked. He put on his usual earrings and as he was about to put a star pin in his hair, he noticed it. He couldn’t breathe as he stared in wonder at it.

“Jungkookie~ I was wondering if you could help me with - why are you crying?!” Hyuna asked worriedly. Jungkook turned to look at her and briefly took in her appearance. The queen was still beautiful but her ageing was quite noticeable. It made Jungkook’s heart squeeze uncomfortably but he ignored it as he was still shocked by what he was seeing.

Jungkook put a hand to his face and could feel wetness. The fairy had not even noticed he was crying.

“Jungkook, are you okay?” Hyuna was starting to panic at the speechless Jungkook.

“L-look,” Jungkook stuttered as he pointed to his hair. Hyuna frowned and she carefully walked closer to him to see what he was pointing at. When she finally spotted it, she gasped in surprise.

“I-is that a white hair?” Hyuna stammered as she looked at the hair in awe, “How is that possible?”

“Fairies can only turn mortal if their soulmate is mortal. This way they can age and die with them,” Jungkook explained quietly, his voice monotone as he took in this phenomenon. Hyuna and Jungkook were silent but they both yelped when they suddenly heard a chuckle.

Jungkook looked in the direction of the noise and saw his lovers standing at the door, staring at him with the same adoring looks that they’ve always had. The fairy briefly wondered what they were doing here but understood when he noticed Jin holding a tray of food which was probably supposed to be for Jungkook.

Taehyung chuckled again as he observed his beautiful fairy’s shocked face,

“We told you we were soulmates,” He cheekily commented as they all walked closer to him. Hyuna discreetly left as she understood that they needed privacy.

“Jungkook,” Yoongi started as he gently cupped Jungkook’s face in his hands, “Our love, our queen, our one and only… our soulmate. Let us mark you,” He softly said, careful with his words as he looked into Jungkook’s shaking eyes.

Jungkook had expressed his hesitancy to being marked as he knew that it was extremely precious to vampires. The bond that would form between them would be unlike anything he ever experienced and he had heard that losing your mate was worse than death. For that reason, Jungkook didn’t want to mate as he didn’t know if he could survive such pain.

However, at this moment, as he looked at his lovers, his soulmates, he knew that they were worth the pain.

“Yes,” Jungkook whispered against Yoongi’s lips before softly pressing his lips against the vampire’s. Jungkook leaned back and walked away from the boys. He slowly made his way to the large bed, smoothly swaying his hips as he could feel their dark, lustful gazes on his back.

Once he reached the bed, he sat down and looked at them with an intense look that rivalled theirs. His toes curled in anticipation as he blushed at the thought of what was to come.

“Mate me,” Jungkook whispered, knowing that with their vampire hearing that they heard him. As they walked towards him, Jungkook looked out the large window to look at the large tree that emerged the day they first met. The tree was mysterious and had different types of flowers that would bloom on in. This time red roses covered the tree and Jungkook smiled at the meaning.

He looked back at his lovers when he felt the bed dip and his stomach warmed as he noticed that they had all started to strip on their way to the bed.

“Mates,” Jungkook mused with wide eyes, a feeling of euphoric joy and realization entering his body, “My Soulmates…”

“Our Soulmate,” Taehyung muttered softly as he gently grazed his fangs against his neck. Jungkook gulped at the feeling and he caught sight of all the others who also had their fangs bared.

Although the sight could be a scary one for most people, Jungkook did not feel scared or nervous. He only felt grateful for having such wonderful people in his life who care and love for him so deeply. He took a deep breath to calm his fast-beating heart and closed his eyes as Taehyung slowly sank his fangs into his neck.

I’ll love you for eternity, my soulmates…

Notes:

Hey Babes! How was your week?

If any of you feel like the scene with the white hair is familiar, it's because I took inspiration from the movie Age of Adeline. I heavily recommend watching the movie if you are into amazing romance movies!

I hope you enjoyed this story and that it was able to bring you happiness. I had so much fun working on this new project and I'm happy to see that many of you also enjoyed it!

I am going to start working on a one-shot book where I will be taking requests. So if any of you have requests for this universe than please comment your idea!

I hope you have an amazing week! I love you so flipping much!!

Notes:

Hello Babes! How was your week?

It's been a while and I missed all of you so much! Sorry for being gone for so long but with exams and then things escalating due to the virus, life has been pretty busy.

But I'm hoping that I can bring some happiness in your lives even in the midst of all this scariness!

Also, there will be no romantic attraction from Jungkook's part while the six boys are underaged. I'm not really comfortable writing stories like that as it's not really my style.

I hope you have an amazing week! I love you and I missed you!!!!
