Chapter Text
A few notes before we get started on this! There are a lot, hence a full on 'chapter' and not small titbits. I'll be posting titbits as I feel the need to, but most of them will end up here. So, let's go.
This is a series rewrite using my headcanons and some UA notes I came up with during the Great Hiatus. New outfits, character redesigns, new characters, and new dynamics will be a thing. My inbox on Tumblr is always open if you have questions! I'll try to keep this chapter updated to include all the titbits and keep everything organized. To avoid 'spoilers', I'll be posting a similar list on each Part/Season of this project with the notes to be referenced in that part. It can also be noted that even if I don't describe the outfits, these characters have realistically changing wardrobes. I'll be posting some basic outfits and appearance change references on Tumblr made with the Sims3 (I will be getting Sims4 at some point soon for character design and floorplans).
Character Changes (New character art pending):
- Gabriel Agreste-
- Not a villain! I cannot stress this enough; Gabe is just a bad (not suited for parenting type) father. I bring this up before we start to avoid confusion.
- He has the Peafowl Miraculous and I've tweaked the powers of it a little.
- Marinette Dupain-Cheng-
- I envision her here with a similar look to some of the earlier renders and art. Her eyes are naturally grey and on the narrow side. Her hair is black with brown undertones. Otherwise, the actress I draw her physical appearance from is Meng Ziyi.
- As Ladybug, her hair changes to a midnight blue and her eyes are wider and blue.
- She speaks and reads the Min dialect of Chinese fluently, having been taught by her mother. From her father, she learned German and Italian. Through school, French and English.
- She has two names, her French name of Marinette, and the Chinese name that her mother's family calls her: Xiaolian (They also call her 甜心 (Tiánxīn ) which translates to Sweet One).
- Her two names are framed in legal paperwork as Marinette Xiaolian
- Chloé was not the only person that bullied her, though others focused on her heritage
- Adrien Agreste-
- Due to his parents insistence on combat training, he is very muscular despite remaining on the thinner side.
- Because of his upbringing, has knowledge of fashion, design and photography outside of modelling
- (see section on Emilie below) His last name is hyphenated as Jordan-Agreste to include his mother's last name, but most people treat it as if Jordan is his middle name, rather than part of his last name.
- His transformation as Renard Voleur gives him red roots that fade to platinum and the fox ears are real, instead of simply clip ins. His eyes become purple.
- Emilie Agreste-
- Name Changed to Celeste Jordan!
- Was a superhero until Adrien was born, at which point she retired and returned her Miraculous to the Guardian
- Studied magic under Fu, with intentions to be his successor as Guardian.
- Was a photographer, using her career as a reasoning to travel in search of lost magical artifacts, including Miraculous
- Most importantly, is truly missing, not in some kind of magical coma in the basement
- Chloé Bourgeois-
- Has Dissociative Identity Disorder, developed by the trauma of her mother's departure with her 'better' twin and her father's subsequent neglect.
- There are four distinct personalities: Chloé, Coco/Queen B, Olivia, and CiCi. These emerge in different situations, and none remember or are aware of the actions of the others. All but CiCi have an intense dislike for Félix.
- Chloé is the main one, taking her parents' cruel and manipulating tactics to heart. She is aware of the actions of Coco and Olivia because of news footage, but has no active memory of the events.
- Coco/Queen B is the kind and helpful personality who takes over when Chloé grapples with urges to be nice. Coco begins 'taking over' when there are Akumas after Chloé receives the Bee Comb and as the only personality aware of her actions as Queen B, Chloé does not feel responsible for the heroine's deeds.
- Olivia emerges usually during press conferences and is the public face of the mayor's daughter. Her behaviour is poised and polite, less inclined to throw around her position.
- CiCi emerges in therapy sessions and only in therapy, her Doctor refers to CiCi as the one that 'holds the trauma' as this personality regresses to the mental state of a toddler and is barely verbal.
- Annabelle Agreste-
- Adrien's younger sister, five years old at the start of the series, with blond hair and her father's grey eyes.
- After Mr Pigeon, Marinette babysits her part time and she loves the idea of having Marinette as a sister
- Replaces Manon in all but Akumatization
- Bridgette Shuan Dupain-
- Marinette's older sister, eighteen years old and studying abroad at a business school in Germany. She has similar features to Marinette, with brown eyes and brown hair.
- Like her sister, she has two names framed as a first and middle name, though the Chinese side of the family only calls her by Shuan.
- Félix Bourgeois-
- Chloé's twin brother who went with Audrey to New York, blonde with teal eyes
- His appearance is based around the Félix of the old PV
- He returns to Paris with Audrey for Fashion Week but is mentioned in conjunction with Audrey
- Adélard "Gorilla" Beaufort-
- Adrien's bodyguard! Not much is changing for him besides having an official name
- Due to an injury during military service, is hard of hearing and mute
- Clarissa Beaufort-
- Adélard's wife and Annabelle's bodyguard
- 6'3", fit/'thin', black hair worn in a tight and high bun
- Mme Annick Beauchêne-
- The main class's homeroom/history teacher
- 5'2", heavy set, greying brown hair worn in low bun
- Mlle Caline Bustier-
- Has been relegated to only teaching literature with no homeroom classes
- Karen "Watcher" Jones-
- A student in Mme Mendeleiev's homeroom class
- 5'5", long violet hair, gold eyes, usually wears pink
- In her hero persona of 'Watcher' wears a simple outfit of slacks, blouse, and leather jacket in a Barred Owl colour scheme with a plain domino mask and her hair styled into a half updo with horn-like buns to an owl's ears. Her tool is a pair of binoculars
- Her Kwami, Vaaiga, is from the Australian temple and appears like the Southern Boobook owl
- Mireille Caquet-
- Karen's girlfriend and seatmate, and takes on the hero persona of Chuột
- As Chuột is at first only wearing a mouse themed outfit of a simple pastel blue áo dài and brown slacks with a brown mask and mouse ear headband
- Other relatives-
- Cheng Extended family:
- Sabine's Chinese/birth name is Xiu (in Chinese conversations with family is often called 小秀 (Xiǎo Xiù) which translates to Little Xiu)
- Jiù jiu and Jiù fu: Sabine's gay trans brother Cheng Lian and his husband Guan Zhen run a shop in NYC selling folk religion tools and offering 'transformative makeovers'
- Yí and Yí fu: Lian's twin sister Ning (lives in New York near her brother with her American husband Rodney and their children Bao and Tai and they run a restaurant selling old family recipes)
- Biǎo jiě: Older cousin Guo Liu is an activist
- Jiù lǎo ye: Sabine's mother's brother Cheng Yun (Kung Food) professional chef living in Hong Kong and prefers Mandarin over Min but does speak some French. Has a younger brother named Xia.

- Biǎo mèi: Younger cousin Cheng Fei (inspired by Fei from the Shanghai Special) is the current guardian of the Prodigious and answers to Bǎohù zhě while transformed
- The Couffaine Family: Anarka's ex-husband is Marinette and Bridgette's paternal uncle (Tom's half-brother), making Juleka and Luka Marinette's cousins.
This uncle is none other than Jagged Stone.
Location Changes:
- The Patisserie Tom et Sabine (new art of floorplan pending)-
- Slightly larger, with a Corner Bakery vibe, seating, and an enclosed patio large enough for small events and live music
- The menu is a café style with a focus on their baked goods and lunch sized meals from Sabine's hometown in China
- There is a little parking garage attached to the building with apartments on the upper floors
- Three apartments are the family's, a two bedroom and a large one bedroom with a balcony on the top floor, and a medium sized one bedroom on the next floor down
- The remaining apartments (two 2bed/1bath and two studios) are rented out with no lease usually to university students or small families
- There are public restrooms and an elevator for residents
- Agreste Mansion (new art of floorplan pending)-
- A little more 'realistic' in floorplan with an 'L-frame', one tower, greenhouse, large pool house/gym, and enchanted security wall
- The ground floor houses Gabriel's office (which has hidden elevators to the basement/hero lair), a plush living room, small ballroom and dining area, and large kitchen
- On the second floor is the children's space, with Adrien and Annabelle having large rooms that each fill a third of the space and are divided by the library
- The third floor is staff housing
- On the fourth floor is Gabriel and Celeste's bedroom and workspaces
- There is a large three-story library in the 'corner' starting from the second floor
- The tower houses only a spiral staircase and climate-controlled meditation garden
- L'école Françoise DuPont (art of revised floorplan pending)-
- Is a private/Sudbury secondary school (collège and lycée) with a 'U-frame' structure around an open fitness area
- On the ground floor are locker rooms, the cafeteria, nurse's office, wood shop, science lab, art studio, and general storage
- On the second floor are classrooms
- On the third floor are more classrooms, the library, faculty lounge, and the principal's office
- There are restrooms on each floor, and lifts for disabled students and faculty
Miraculous Changes:
- Non-Miraculous-
- Prodigious Staff: made by the same sorcerer that discovered the Prodigious (the gem guarded by the Cheng clan in Lanxiajiang) but not connected to the gem. Made of enchanted crystals and wood, and is usually fairly short (approximately a meter in length). When activated by a user, this staff extends to three quarter length and the crystal carvings glow a corresponding color to the user's magical aura (Marinette's is pink). However, like many ancient magical objects, it 'chooses' a new user and will only activate when that 'chosen' person wields it.
- The Prodigious: a 'precursor' to the Miraculous, this gem grants the wearer powerful shapeshifting magic, with the ability to transform into the four sacred beasts. The Black Tortoise of the North with powers of Rebirth, the Azure Dragon of the East with powers of Growth, the Vermillion Bird of the South with powers of Peace, and the White Tiger of the West with powers of Purity
- Overall-
- Enhances all aspects of a user's abilities and senses, some scaled more along the corresponding animal (Night Vision and hyperenhancements on hearing for Cat)
- The timer depends on the age and skill set of a user, and begins after the powers are fully spent (sub powers included, such as Lucky Charm and the corresponding Ladybug Cure)
- A teenager with no magical training would have five minutes, a teenager with some magical training would have ten minutes, an adult with no training would have half an hour, an adult with sufficient training would have an hour.
- The timer is cut in half when the Miraculous is used against its nature or improperly (Namely using the ability to empower others to terrorize a city and try to kill a couple of teenagers)
- A Miraculous user's eye colour changes to that of the Kwami's when transformed.
- The 'disguised' form of the Miraculous varies by user. Some completely change shape and appearance within the animal's theme.
- There were six temples with associated Miraculous, one based on each continent
- North America: Containing the Coyote, Mouse, Eagle, Deer, and Bear
- South America: Containing the Chinchilla, Kinkajou, Python, Toucan, and Jaguar
- Australia: Containing the Owl, Bat, Bandicoot, Badger, and Spider
- Asia: Containing originally the Fox, Peafowl, Bee, Butterfly, and Turtle
- Europe: Containing originally the Ladybug, Wolf, Drake, Horse, and Lion
- Africa: Containing originally the Cat, Cobra, Jackal, Spider, and Elephant
- Creation- Ladybug (Miraculous is a pair of earrings and tool is a yo-yo)
- Lucky Charm- creates an object vital to success that requires creative and quick thinking to make the most of
- Ladybug Cure- using a Lucky Charm object repairs damage that occurs due to magical interference
- Purification- use of the tool to purify a corrupted object
- Lucky Strike- probability manipulation to ensure an attack hits its target
- Manipulation- Wood Fox (Miraculous is a fox tail necklace and tool is an overtone flute)
- Mirage- an illusion that lasts for five minutes or until dispelled by physical contact
- Mimic- copies the first power of another Miraculous at half the power (requires knowledge of other Miraculous Powers to be effective)
- Unweaving- unravels a Lucky Charm or Shell-ter
- Works well with the Butterfly and Bee
- Can overpower the Ladybug and Turtle
- Binding- Fire Bee (Miraculous is a hair comb with a bee decoration and tool is a trompo)
- Sting (Canon Venom)- paralyzes a target for five minutes
- Honeycomb- creates a barrier of sticky honeycomb that can capture an enemy, destroying and purifying a construct created by the Peafowl, and cancelling Cataclysm
- Honeybee Sparkler- dissolves the Honeycomb structure to repair damage done by Cataclysm and non-magical means within a specific range
- Works well with the Fox and Turtle
- Can overpower the Peafowl and Cat
- Empowerment- Water Butterfly (Miraculous is a butterfly brooch and tool is a cane with potential hidden rapier)
- Shòuquán/Akuma/Xiānnǚ- temporarily grants powers to another creature with emotions
- These powers are related to the emotional state of the being and what caused the state
