Stolen Sweaters

Summary:

When you steal your boyfriends sweater, he decides to come find it.

Notes:

Work Text:

You woke up alone. Again. His mission had gone two weeks longer than it was supposed to, meaning you rarely saw your boyfriend. He left before the sun rose, and he didn’t return until after the sun had set. Staying up late enough to see him was getting harder and harder. You still had your job to go to after all, the students of General Studies at UA weren’t going to teach themselves. Despite their protests that you should take a day off, you showed up every morning with a chipper smile for them. Making them excited to learn, erasing their doubts from not making it into the Hero course. You thought all of their Quirks were amazing any way.

Teaching was a passion. Especially for these children. The ones who wanted to be heroes, but had been deemed not strong enough. You made it your goal to make each of the kids feel special though. Like they are the best kid in the class. Designing tests that worked to the strengths of each student. It was hard work, but seeing them all beam when an answer came to them easily made it all worth it.

As the day ended, you noticed that your boyfriend had sent you nearly thirty texts. After the first ten or so it just became a string of "hey shitty woman respond to me!" Which you honestly found endearing. Katsuki had changed so much since the day you first saw him at the Sports Festival. Had anyone told first year you that you would end up dating him, you would have laughed. With your weak quirk, being in general studies, shy personality… you certainly weren't his type back then. The only reason you're dating him now was because Kirishima set you up on a blind date. One that went rather well. Kind of. You had gone home that night in tears, not that you remembered why now. But he, as usual, had said something abrasive. Apparently his friends had yelled at him for hours after you called Kirishima while crying, because the next day a beautiful orchid appeared at your house. Paired with a hand written apology note, a note you kept in your wallet now.

Pulled out of your memories by your phone ringing, you saw Katsuki's contact image light up your screen. "(Y/L/N)," you answered softly. Followed by the caller making a tch noise before responding. A noise you had grown to love.

"I know who it is. I called you , babe. Have you seen my sweater?" It was an accusing tone. Rightfully so, but how dare he assume. Of course you had taken his sweater, you missed him. And wearing his sweater was like wearing a hug.

"No… Which one? Did you leave it at the agency? Or at Kirishima-kun's apartment after the last squad night?" Your tone filled with feigned innocence. A front that your boyfriend heard through without before you had even opened your mouth. He knew you were wearing it. It was the only one he owned that was professional looking enough for you to get away with wearing to UA while teaching. As long as you rolled the sleeves a few times. But Nezu never said anything to you when you wore it, he understood. Or you assumed he did. Nezu was a little hard to read in actuality.

"You're wearing it. Aren't you, (Y/N)?" You could hear the way he quirked an eyebrow. Suppressing a giggle you denied wearing the sweater. Not wanting to give him the satisfaction of you giving in so easily. Besides, you would put the sweater in the basket once you got home, and laugh at him for being a blind old man.

"So if I walked into your classroom right now," the call cut off. And Katsuki walked in while placing his phone in his pocket. Lips pursed as he looked you up and down. "I wouldn't find you wearing my sweater?" Reaching out to pull you in a hug. "Sweater gremlin." Chuckling into your hair as he felt you melt into his hold. The blond crushing you against his chest, the rumbling laughter felt even in your chest.

"It was warm, and smelt like you. I plead innocent, Mr. Ground Zero." Putting a soft and innocent smile on your face. Flicking your wrists to have the sleeves unroll. Furthering the look of innocence you were offering. Letting just the tips of your fingers poke through. It was common knowledge to you that he was weak to your cute looks. If it were possible to bottle up, then villains would have a major advantage over him. But alas, bottling your cute looks was not possible. He hoped.

"Pleading innocence while wearing the evidence, hah? Sounds pretty brave to me. Guess I won't take you out to dinner tonight. We have to go kill Shitty Hair for lying about having my sweater. If it's not at home, or my agency… and if you don't have it, because you would never lie to a hero, then Shitty Hair lied about having it." Daring you to admit to lying. You knew that if you admitted to it, you would be tickled into submission. Squealing apologies for daring to lie about the location of the sweater. Which is exactly what happened when you leaned in to kiss his cheek. Strong hands wrapped around your waist, and he began a merciless assault of tickles. Your squealed laughter filling your classroom. The only thing holding you up being his hands. Those strong arms crashing you against his chest, holding you tight for more balance.

Finally he stopped tickling you. Pressing a soft kiss into the side of your head before scooping you up to carry you princess style. Whispering that he fucking missed you the entire time it took for him to get you off campus. Your shared apartment was only a few minutes walk away, the only reason you didn't have to live in the dorms with your class. Katsuki backed into the door, and you smelt his home cooking. He had made your favourite meal, it seemed like he had been lying about taking you out. Not that you planned on calling him out for it. That would be rude.

Toeing off your shoes after he set you down, you began to hum a soft tune. It was a song that Kat also hummed for you. He sang it sometimes too, but never when he knew you could hear. It was usually while he was in the shower, or if you came in too quietly. However, the tune got cut short. Quite abruptly. You turned around, and there was Katsuki. Down on one knee, a heavy blush covering his cheeks. A small black box in his hands.

"(Y/N). I know I'm an asshole, that I made you cry on our first date. But you've made me such a better person, and as such a better hero. I love you more than I want to be the Number One hero. Which is why, now that I am as of tomorrow, I want to know if you'll marry me?" His eyes never breaking contact once. Those crimson orbs locked onto yours, filled with hope. Not that you could ever say no. Tackling in a hug, you shakily whisper your answer. Tears of joy already falling down your face.
